Safari search problem

I am using an iPhone 4 and when I try to search in Safari it just keeps loading and reloading. The status bar appears to be moving, but then it resets. It does this all very quickly. After 45 seconds or so, a message from google appears saying "We're sorry but it appears your computer is sending automated requests". This happens both on 3G and wifi networks. If I type in the web address, everything works normally. This happens only when I search in Safari. Any help?

funny ive had that issue as well before only with google search I dont know what causes it but it does happen

  • No autocorrect in iPhone safari search???

Why doesn't my safari search engine have autocorrect? It's really frustrating when I want to search for something. Is there a way to turn this on? My autocorrect is on in settings. Thanks.

I have the opposite problem on my Mac (OS 10.10.1 right now, but also true with OS 9 and earlier). I hate that the OS autocorrects within a search box, since often I am looking for a misspelled word or some other non-word. This has bugged me for years, but I just figured out a solution: type the search field in all caps, which is not autocorrected! Seems obvious now that I realize it, but I've put up with this annoyance for years. No more!

  • Safari Search at Google = Virus Page

Safari Search at Google = Virus Page:

I'm consistently getting this page, for 2 days now, on innocent searches / right-click searches, Google page typed entries, etc.
It's become really annoying to fill out a captcha code for every search.
Is this a known problem or is it - OMG a virus? Or just Google?

I have been having the same problem for the past week. It happens when I use the Google window in Safari. If I use the same search term in Firefox, in this case "kobe steakhouse rolling hills road" it does not happen. Same computer, different browser.
I've run a scan on my computer every night, and do occasionally catch a Windows virus, but nothing recently and my system is clean. And, yes, I know there are no known Mac viruses, but the message is real and If I could I'd put up a screenshot of the Google warning page.
My internet provider is Earthlink and I have a static IP address.
And for the purpose of enlightenment, there's a lot of chatter building up in other forums about this problem. For the record the warning on my Safari browser as I write this is:
    We're sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.
If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

  • How can I reduce the size of the new io7 safari search bar? Help please!

    Hi,
The new layout means the Safari search bar is takIng up about an inch and a half of my screen! The old io6 search bar was more slimline. Is there any way to go back to the old layout? As it is, my viewing of web pages is limited by having so much space taken up by the search bar.
    Any advice much appreciated!

  • Safari Search Bar now GREEK

Ever since I upgraded to 10.7.4 I've had some major annoyances rear their heads with my 2011 iMac.
The issue I'm looking for help with, though it may seem small, is with the Safari search bar.
I know there have been discussions before about this and I've always had a difficult relationship with the search bar as it is supposed to change to your 'local' search engine, e.g. for me that would be Google UK, yet it has often defaulted to Google US which means that searches can be a little less relevant at times.
Anyway, for months things have been fine. The search bar defaulted to Google UK until the 10.7.4 update hit... All of a sudden my Google search bar now defaults to Google.com in GREEK...
Since I don't speak a word of Greek, I'm sure you can see how this has become an issue. I've tried all manner of things, resetting safari, changing language settings but have been unable to get it to change back. I tried changing to Bing search but to be honest, Google search in Greek is a **** of a lot more useful than Bing in English is, which I think says a lot.
I did have greek as a secondary keyboard layout so that I could use the greek characters for my physics work but UK English has always been my default and I have since removed Greek yet the search bar stays the same.
It's really becoming irritating now as every time I search it sets my whole Google experience to Greek with a cookie so any google.com service I use ends up in Greek and it's a pain to reset it.
Does anyone out there know how the search bar bases it's localisation on and is there any way I can reset it?

  • Safari Search History

I know there is a way to manually clear the history of searches in safari search fields such as google. But is there a setting to change where safari will not automatically keep a history of searches? Thanks.
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Setting History to zero items will affect the history of sites visited, but not the history of search items.
There are actually two separate search history lists.
One is the list of search terms entered into Google or other search pages. These can be cleared by clicking on Edit beside "Other Forms" under AutoFill in Safari's Preferences. and deleting the entry for those sites. These lists can be eliminated by unchecking "Other Forms" which will also disable autofill in all forms.
The other is the list of recent searches in Safari's search window. This list can be cleared by either clicking on "Clear Recent Searches" at the bottom of the drop-down list of recent searches and the other is by reseting Safari which will also reset just about everything that can be reset in Safari. I do not know of a way of keeping this list from being created.

  • 8.1.3 Caused Safari Search Bar Issue

I Upgraded to 8.1.3 this morning and now the Safari search bar has moved to the very top of my screen, merged with the battery and use information. This is making it very difficult to use Safari as it is almost impossible to click on the search bar to enter my information.
    Help!

Reset your device and check again afterwards...
First, close off *all* running apps:
Double-tapping the Home button will bring up the running apps icons along with an app screenshot "card" above the icon. Tap-drag the app's -card- (NOT the icon) up and off the screen.
    Reset your device:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • Fix safari search bar? Help!

I downloaded something online today and rather quickly deleted it. I have looked everywhere in my finder and trash and it all seems to be deleted. But it has done something to my safari search bar which I would like some help fixing! Whenever I search something it says it is loading 'search.installmac.com' and then it loads my search with bing. I have checked my safari preferences and it says my default search engine is google. I have even gone into terminal, deleted safari and then re-installined it but it is still doing this! I really want my search bar to just load once with google rather than the blue line loading three times then it using bing! someone please help!

You have definitely installed a variant of the Genieo adware. If you only read the first page of the topic Wayne linked to, you didn't get any decent removal instructions. Note that the Genieo uninstaller will not adequately remove any variant of Genieo... it leaves behind actively-running components in all cases. To remove it properly, see the Genieo removal section of my Adware Removal Guide.
You probably got this by installing something downloaded from Softonic. See:

    Mara...
Go to your Safari menu bar (top of your screen) click View  then from the drop down menu click Customize Toolbar.
    Mac OS X (10.6.6)  <  your profile
If that is correct, you need to udpate your system software to v10.6.8

  • Safari search bar stuck on yahoo?

My safari search bar seems to be stuck on Yahoo. I changed the default in Safari preferences to have the search bar be Google, but it hasn't changed. Any suggestions?

You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
If you find Apple's instructions too hard to follow, ask for an alternative that doesn't require you to trust a black-box application without knowing what it does.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

How do I DISABLE Safari search history function in iPhone4?

Thank you for the swift answer. I find it amazing that Safari/iPhone developers haven't considered such basic privacy/security issues. Can't help but wonder if it's a cultural thing (Americans and their curious views on the concept of privacy).
