Safari "Share" button causes crash

Whenever i try to share a url using the share button above the address bar, safari crashes. It happens EVERY time i try to share a url, just wanted to know if others have the same issue..
I have the 1.1.1 firmware, and didn't have this issue before the update. I've also noticed more general safari crashes while music is playing, its pretty annoying. So does anyone else have the same issues or is it just my phone?

Never had an issue with it. I would suggest a true reboot.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

  • Safari share button for twitter freezes browser

Occasionally, while using the Share Button in Safari to post something on Twitter, I encounter the colorful spinning wheel/icon, causing Safari to freeze. I cannot stop the process, and any open browser tabs become inaccessible. The entire browser window shows a transparent gray color overlay, and I end up having to "Force Quit" on Safari.
As burdensome as this seems, the Share popup window remains persistently visible along with the colorful spinning wheel/icon. So, I end up having to restart my computer...
I'm using an iMac w/ OS X 10.8.4 with the most recent version of Safari.
Any tips to avert this problem, shortcuts to terminate the freeze without having to restart my computer, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi
I have been experiencing exactly the same problem for the last few weeks.  Before then, it was fine.  now it freezes almost every time I try ot share a link via Twitter using the 'Share' button.  I have tried removing the cache file as suggested but it hasn't helped unfortunately.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I have tried deleting and reinstating my Twitter account in System Preference but no change.
I'm not sure if it's a factor but I have noticed that the problem could be related to the drop down list of Twitter handles that pops up when you type @ in the message.  I've noticed that if the handle I want is in the drop-down list and I select it from the list, the message can be sent.  But if the handle I want doesn't appear in the list and I type it instead, that is when it freezes.  I am certain I am typing the correct Twitter address.  As I say, not sure if that is related ot the problem.
    All suggestions gratefully received
    Paul

  • Where is Safari "share" button for tweet, mail, print on IOS7?

Updated to IOS7 yesterday. Has the "share" button for tweeting, emailing and printing of web pages been eliminated? I've searched high and low. Only see a bookmark tab, and Apple, Disney, ESPN and. Yahoo.

There should be an icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like a quare box with an arrow pointing up out of the box.  This is the new icon for Share.
If it is not there open Safari, tap the tabs icon bottom right of screen, it looks like two overlapping squares, close all the tabs that you may have open by tapping the x in the upper left hand corner of each tab. Then try killing all apps by double tapping the home button to open multitasking, swipe up on all the pages that are visible.
Then restart your phone, hold both Home and Power buttons down until the Apple logo appears and wait for it to restart.
If this process doesn't work you can try resetting all settings.  Settings => General => Reset => Reset all settings.  This will reset your settings back to factory defaults.  This seems to help with a number of the little glitches that are popping up right now with the new OS.

  • Safari share button does not work

  • Cannot send email links from Safari share button in iOS8

    Hi All:
This is a new one for, and not something I have experienced since link sharing was introduced. I am running iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 6. When I find a web page I want to share in Safari, I tap the Share icon, and the share sheet comes up. I select Mail, and a pre-populated email sheet appears. I can type text in the Message or Subject fields, but if I try to select a different sender address or enter a recipient address, the email message simply disappears. it's not in Mail trash or Drafts. It's just gone. This does not happen with my iPad mini 3 at all. Also does not happen on any of my family members' phones.
Obviously, I can Select,Copy,Paste the link into a manual email message. But sharing a link via email does not work in my phone. Any ideas besides a restore?
    TIA!

In Mail, select Mail > Preferences > General > Default email reader: Mail 5.2

  • Searching Safari pdf File Caused Crash

After installing OS X 10.5, whenever I tried to search a page in Safari that was pdf format it would crash. I tried all kinds of things to defeat the problem, trying several posted here, but to no avail. Finally my son, who is a software engineer, came up with the best idea: get rid of Adobe Reader and all of its Plug-ins. Voilla! no more problems and Preview is much nicer to work with. So that is what I recommend.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Apple does not respond to submitted crash reports. Rather, they are used for software development purposes. Best thing to do in this forum is to copy/paste a copy of the entire report to your reply in this thread.
If you see a relationship between the Adobe crashes and Safari opening a PDF file, then go to Adobe Acrobats preference file>Internet and designate Apple's "Preview" as your PDF reader. Then, go to the Finder and move to your desktop your Adobe Reader plug-in from your Internet Plug-ins folder either the main or user library). Restart Safari and try a PDF (it ought to now open within the browser). If Safari does not crash, then yes, the problem lies with Adobe. Something you can take up in one of Adobe's own forums.

  • FlashButton_AS3 button causes crash when navigating

I have an issue in an Captivate 7 where the FlashButton_AS3 buttons are causing the swf to lockup. To test I created a new course and placed FlashButton_AS3 onto slide 2. If I attmempt to navigate forward or back I see the spinning loading icon and I'm locked out. If I use a different widget, say just the button widget for example, it works fine.

Flash player 11. IE 10 on Win 8. Other browsers do not do this. When published with associated html generated by captivate it works. For some reason in my course it fails. I've stripped my javascript back and it still does it every time I attempt to move to a different page. If i use a different widget it is fine it only seems to happen with FlashButton_AS3. I looked at the source, I've been a flash developer for seven years and could not see anything that might cause this. There are external calls but that is to the containing captivate swf. Is there some other form of comms externally when navigating pages?

  • Safari share button

After I installed Mountain Lion ( upgrade from Snow Leopard), I don't see an option of adding my favorite websites to my home screen. The only way I can save them now is either to bookmark them or add them to my reading list.  If I drag the URL address into my desktop, it lands there with Safari icon only.  So now I have a bunch os Safari icons on my desktop.  What am I missing?

Never had an issue with it. I would suggest a true reboot.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding

  • ITunes photo sync button causes crash

I'm using Windows XP and iTunes 7. I'm trying to add photos to my iPod Nano, and since the only way to do that is through iTunes, I'm kind of screwed. Here's why:
Whenever I click on the check box that would sync a photo folder to my iPod, iTunes just crashes. I've tried restarting everything, and tried restoring my iPod. Nothing seems to work, and I'm STILL on hold with tech support, and have been for about 10 minutes.
So if anyone can help with this problem, that would be awesome, because I'm pretty irritated at this point.
    Windows PC   Windows XP

OK so i got mine working, hope this helps..
1.Restore iPod to factory settings (if you don't mind wiping your iPod clean)
2.When it reconnects, Itunes will ask you if you want to automatically sync Music and/or Photos when you connect. I said no to Music but YES to Photos. (previously i said no to both)
3.Once setup is finished, click on your iPod in Itunes, and now if you go to the PHOTO tab instead of crashing when you click "Sync photos from" it is now already ticked, and you can then select a folder to import photos from the options on the right!
After all i tried to fix this problem all i had to do it seems, was to tell itunes to "auto sync photos" during the setup process.
    Hope this helps you!
    Please let me know!
Oh and sorry for the rough translation. I was so excited getting it all to work that I rushed this so i could get the info to you!

  • Safari 6.0.4 "broke" Share button - also Mail can no longer find the application (installed via Map App store)

Since installing the 6.0.4 Safari update via the Mac App store, I have a host of problems:
    1.  Mail can no longer find "an associated app" when I click on a url in a mail message
    2.  The Share button (extension) in the Safari toolbar no longer works
    3.  Any attempt to open a new url results in a new safari window being opened although in my preferences I have "open new windows in tabs" selected
    4.  If I click on a tab that was previously open I am continually asked to refresh the window
    5. I have had about a half dozen "Safari not responding" events since the upgrade, forcing me to Force Quit - generally when I'm trying to use one of the extensions or returning to a prebiously opened tab
    6. Safari is intermittently unresponsive to  mouse clicks -functionality can only be restored by refreshing the page
    7.  Safari can no longer find my passwords for some extensions (e.g. Buffer)
    8. Safari is EXTREMELY slow loading pages - stalls out a few moments after entering url (or switching back to that tab) - sometimes for as long as 2 or 3 minutes
All the Safari extensions I have were eeither pre-installed or from Apple's Safari extensions page.
The install also corrupted my iCloud (AppleID) password, but thiswas easily fixed in Keychain.
Anyone have a fix or know of any software conflicts that could be responsible?
    OSX 10.8.3
    Safari 6.0.4

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then uninstall them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • Share button not working in Safari 8.0

I've just upgraded my iMac to Yosemite, but neither the Share button nor the share item in the menu are working in Safari 8.0. I'm pretty sure the problem has something to do with the Extensions in my System Preferences, since the share button is working fine in Safari on my Macbook Pro, but if I open System Preferences/Extensions, on the MBP Share Menu is listed in the left hand column, and shows all the share services, but that item is missing from System Preferences/Extensions on my iMac. Does anybody know how to turn it on? There are no more updates waiting to be downloadedI've tried restarting but that didn't help.

I had same problem and called apple tech support and on their suggestion I did the following and everything working ok now.  Hope it helps.
If sharing options and Markup are missing after you install OS X Yosemite
If Share button options (Email This Page, Facebook, etc.) or the Markup feature are missing after you install OS X Yosemite, follow the instructions below.
Follow these steps in each user account on your Mac to restore Share button options and the Markup feature.
Open the Terminal app. You can launch Terminal from the Other folder in Launchpad, or enter "Terminal" in Spotlight search.
Copy and paste this command into the Terminal window:/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed
Press Return and wait for the Terminal prompt (ends in $) to reappear. It may take a few minutes.
    Close the Terminal app.
If you have another user account on your Mac that has this issue, log into that account and repeat these steps.
