Safari shortcut?

Whats up and Happy weekend. I often use this simple keyboard shortcut while using Safari, (holding)⌘ and clicking link to open in a new tab. Quite often, I need that link opened in a separate window. My first machine was an appleII after 37 years on mac... is such a shortcut available or I am going to have to say "what a dumb ***! How in the **** did I miss that"? If there is no such shortcut, could I be the only one that needs it! Tonight I finally broke down and did some "keyboard shortcut" searches on google to see if I somehow missed it. My google is broken and I can't get my search!!:!! Just kidding, my google is great, I can not find the shortcut!!:!! if available, could you please give me that shortcut. If there is no such shortcut.... MAKE ONE FOR ME ;-)

if your out there, where did you find that shortcut key at?
here is apples link http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42951 for Safari Browser Window and Menu Shortcuts. Do you see the errors and missing shortcut command also, or have I been eating to many lead chips?
I do not see the shortcut you provided anywhere on that page!

My Safari shortcut Cmd+Opt+B, to show and hide all bookmarks doesn't work. The same shortcut is used in a third party app Scrivener and it doesn't work there too. I had a look at all my keyboard shortcuts listed in System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts and don't see the shortcut listed there. Also I checked my triggers in Quicksilver and didn't see the Cmd+Opt+B shortcut there too. Any idea how I can fix this? Had this issue for a long while now.

This issue may be resolved by installing the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo updater.

Safari shortcuts: How to change "Command-1" to select previous tab

Hey all,
Trying to customize my Safari shortcuts but having trouble changing "select previous/next tab" shortcuts to "Command-1/2" as I would prefer them to be. Even after changing them in the preferences the "Command-1" just opens the first link on my bookmarks bar (and Comman-2 the second respectively).
The question is: How to change the "select previous/next tab" shortcuts to Command-1 and Command-2? I bet many people would prefer this to the standard shortcuts...

You really don't want to change shortcuts within the system. This could mess things up.
Some Programs allow you to change shortcuts within that program. In the notes for changing short cut they do state that changing short cuts could have conflicts with System shortcuts.
I would advise not to mess with changing any shortcuts.

I did the 8.1.3 update and now I have no Safari shortcut? How do I get it back?

sSafari shortcut is not showing on my IPad since I did iOS 8.1.3 update. I can't find Safari in App Store or my settings to get it back on my screen. How can I get my Safari icon back?

If you can't find it on any of your home screens or via the spotlight search screen then check to see if it's hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being set 'off'

How to create a Safari shortcut for a particular site?

I would like to create a shortcut (alias) for a particular website. I know that I can go into Applications/Safari.app and create a shortcut for the browser, but this is not what I want . I want to open a website in Safari, say Apple.com, and create a shortcut for this. Then all I have to do is one click on the desktop icon and I am at Apple.com. OR I can open a discussion in many different areas (say iChat, iPod, etc.) and create a shortcut for each of these and they can stay on my desktop forever and I don't have to search the History to guess what day I last used it.
I have tried setting Preferences to "Same Page", but it doesn't work. Clicking on the icon always takes me to the home page.
Any suggestions?

Excellent! I think you got it. That thing to the left of the URL is just an icon. I am used to the PC where you don't have to do that sort of thing, but it works just as well so far. I'll play with it to make sure it does what I want, but thank you very much for a job well done.

Help! My Safari shortcuts do not display pictures of the page anymore on my iPad.

I use shortcuts from web pages for various reasons and after a recent update, when I try adding shortcuts to my home screen they no longer display photos of the page but ugly white boxes with lines throughout. The previous pages I have shortcuts to all still have a photo of the page on their thumbnail but the new ones I am trying to add do not. I have tried deleting and readding the shortcuts, restarting Safari, restarting my iPad, and restoring from a back up. None of these have worked though. Is there something I am doing wrong? A setting that needs to be changed? A new way of adding shortcuts from Safari? I am in charge of the iPads for my work and I cannot get any of them to have pictures for the thumbnail instead of the awful ugly white square with lines (7 total iPad2s having the same problem). Please help! Thank you!

Safari shortcuts dont work for navigating through open tabs

I read that Control-Tab or Control-Shift-Tab are shortcuts that navigate left and right through open windows in Safari.
I also ready that CMD-Shift-left arrow navigates to the left. But only moves once, and if you select same with right arrow, nothing happens.
Under Settings Application shortcuts, there are no setting setup for CMD-Shift-left arrow so I guess that this is 'built in'?
I would like to navigate using keyboard shortcuts left and right through open tabs in Safari. Please can you advise as I am stuck with the above and they dont help me....

Thanks! The shortcut can be set like this in AI, although all key combinations I would want to use are not allowed. Too bad. But anyways, thank you very much for the tip!
cmd+~ is not an option for me, I guess, since the swiss/german keyboard layout has no dedicated tilde key.
So, I have a working shortcut in PS (ctrl+tab / of which I still don't know how to change, if possible at all) and thanks to you, I can now set one in AI as well. Unfortunately, I can not set it to be identical as in PS, since the "cmd" key needs to be included in AI's shortcut assignment dialogue, but I guess, this is as good as it gets.

Safari shortcut for dot com?

I remember a time when there was a keyboard shortcut for dot com in Safari (.com), it was CMD + Return. Now in Safari 7 when I plot in reddit, Safari googles it for me. If auto fill is not an option.

You can make one in System Preferences/Keyboard/Shortcuts.

New Safari shortcut Problem

After i upgrade OS to Maverick, Safari short cut "Select Next Tab" and ""Select Previous Tab"" doesnt work anymore.
I cutomised that two shortcuts in Setting-> app shortcut before i upgrade OS.

Home page safari shortcut fails to play music when minimized

I made a homepage shortcut to safari (music.google.com) which stops playing music when minimized. If I launch safari directly and navigate to music.google.com music continues to play when minimized. Symptoms are identical IOS5 & IOS5.01. Any suggestions?

I accessed the GarageBand site and not being sure how one would play an audio loop there, I clicked the little green arrow next to "Rational Eyes" near the top. This put up a little black window that said "MP3 Player (GarageBand.com)" with a line of text that said "Report problems by clicking the 'HELP' button above.", but there was no help button other than the item on the tool bar of the site window. There was no sound.

I was intrigued by something that I read in Adam Goldstein's book "Applescript: The Missing Manual" (P. 182):
"SAVED SCRIPTS IN THE FAVORITES BAR: If you've saved a script as an Application (pg. 33), you can run it from Safari's Favorites bar with ease. Here's how:
1. Find the path to the application.
If you saved a script called Hyena as an application in your Library-->Scripts folder, for example, the path would be /Library/Scripts/Hyena.app.
2. Type the path to the file into Safari's address bar.
To set Safari to open a file for you, use file:/// (yes, that's three foward slashes, not the two you normally see after http:), followed by the path to where the file loves on your Mac. For example, the file path for the Hyena.app script woul look like his:
file:///Library/Scripts/Hyena.app
At this point, you could press Return to open the file (and, as a result, run the script). Or you could wait a few steps, to make the script a permanent fixture of Safari's Booksmarks bar.
3. Drag the mini-icon from Safri's Address bar into the Bookmarks bar (Figure 9-5 top).
This is a quick way to create a new bookmark.
4. Enter a name for your bookmark (Figure 9-5, middle).
This is the name that will appear in your Bookmarks bar, so try not to make it too long.
Now, whenever you want to run your script from Safari, simply click the script's name in the Bookmarks bar (Figure 9-5, bottom)...."
The caveat for me is that I've tried it and only the enclosing folder to the targeted application opens!! (This must be either a bug in my Safari version or else Adam's info is incorrect, I'd appreciate it if anyone could verify this, by the way).Please also see my post in the Applescript Forum "Safari Master Control of Numerous Applescripts...."

Have yu tried the sandard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Sorry, but that is not a feature of Safari. You may be able to accomplish roughly the same thing using Glims, but the current version 1.0b19 is not compatible with Safari 4.0.3; the developers are working on making it compatible very soon.

What is the keyboard shortcut for the search window?

Is there a keyboard shortcut that takes me directly to the Google search window in the upper right hand corner of the Safari toolbar? I looking for the equivalent of Firefox's Cmd-K shortcut. I've looked at lists of Safari shortcuts online, but I can't find this one.
Note that this is different from Cmd-Shift-L, because I want to begin the search without having something already highlighted.

Where did the iPod shortcut button go when you double click the home button and scroll to the left?

After upgrading to iOS 4.3.2 I have noticed that when I double click the home button the multitasking tray pops up when you scroll to the left the ipod shortcut is no longer there, it has been replaced by a safari shortcut. Is this right??

Have you tried rebooting the device? Hold down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. If this fails, connect it to a power source and try again holding them for at least 20 seconds.
