Safari "Show Previous Page" is SLOOOW...

Using the latest, Safari 6.1.2 (ML), when I ask Safari to go back to the previous page it takes WAY TOO LONG, as if it's searching that page for the very first time (In general, even though I have fast cable connection here, Safari is not very fast here, but that doesn't bother me much).... I thought the Caches are taking care of that, no?
Thanks...

Empty the cache more often ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari.

  • Setting OF LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND WEB CACHE PROBLEM [SHOWING PREVIOUS PAGE ]

    Dear Members,
I would request for help regarding setting of LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle 11G Application server and web cache problem when any single text file edit and save the result should not be changed . it shows previous page result.
    *1. Where to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH in Oracle11g Application Server (10.3.0) ? [  like in 9ias we set in opmn.xml . ] Where is opmn.xml file in oracle11g or which files contained LD_LIBRARY_PATH?*
*2. When we created program generated report it shows correct result after some changes in file and generate again it shows first means previous page result as it is not take changes in that file. Even we tried out side made one .text file and open edit and save. It's given same result. So What is the problem regarding it?*
It is the matter of  Browser Cache or WEB Cache. Where is the settings of it?
*3. How to connect database (oracle11g Release 2) through OCI driver?*
    Regards
    Vipul Patel

If you're compiling it yourself, you should set the library path then. If not, you can try something like this:
    env DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/add-on-libraries orca ...
but I'm not sure it will work.

  • Safari reloading previous page after pressing the back button

Hey guys, here my question regarding Safari...
Why is it that every time I do the two finger swipe on the trackpad to go back to the previous page I was viewing on the web, freaking Safari takes me back to that page instantly but then automatically reloads the page. WHY?!?!
I don't have this issue while using Firefox. I swipe to go back to the previous page and it's instantly available for me to continue browzing / scrolling, etc.
Another thing I noticed in Safari is that if I'm half way down a page and click on something, which takes me to that page but then I swipe to go back, it doesn't take me back to where I was on the page (say, half way down, for example) it take me up towards the top (not all the way at the top, mind you, just up higher, NOT WHERE I WAS WHEN I LEFT THE PAGE) Why does it do this?!?! You'd think that Apple would have designed Safari to be the next best thing since sliced bread and that it would work instantly and flawlessly. I'd imagine that Firefox and other browzers would be the ones taking forever to load but it's freakin Safari that is doing this, I don't get it.
For the record, Firefox functions flawlessly. Instantly shows the page I was at when I press the back button or swipe back and it puts me BACK IN THE SAME SPOT THAT I WAS AT BEFORE I LEFT THE PAGE!!!!
I use both browzers as I need two (use both for different things and have different bookmarks saved, etc) but I'm starting to HATE Safari simply for this one issue I'm having. It makes surfing the web take 2x as long as I not only have to wait for the page to RELOAD after pressing the back button, I also have to scroll back down to where I was before I left the page, which takes TIME!
Someone please explain this to me. I looked at other posts regarding this issue but there is no clear solution to the problem.
    HELP.

I think Apple should give the end user the choice whether to autoload the webpage when you press the back button or not. It would be a simple fix for this issue that it seems a lot of people are suffering with.
I WANT to use the default web browser that my Macbook Pro came with (Safari) and don't really want to use the alternatives (Firefox, Chrome, etc) but surfing the web is a slow, time consuming process with this auto reload "feature".
    Apple, Please fix this ASAP!
This is my first Apple laptop (was a long time Sony Vaio / Windows user) and I expected good things from my Mac, after hearing / reading all the reviews but this Safari issue is a MAJOR turn off for me. It needs to be address ASAP.

  • Back (or show previous page) button and Ebay....

Hello all. I am having a problem with ebay and the back button on Safari. It started with version 3, and it continues to version 4. When I am looking at an item, if I click the back button, the page just reloads. I have to double click the back button to go to the previous page. I have just noticed this on the ebay site and no others. Any ideas? Thanks for the input.

having the same problem at www.dealnews.com
not a problem with previous 3.32 version, but now i can't get back to the previous page without pressing the back button twice quickly.
if you press it once, it just reloads the same page.
i've reset safari, but nothing fixes it.
    anyone else have an idea?
    thanks!

  • Showing «previous page» resp. «next page» buttons in fullscreen mode

    Hello,
I'd like Adobe Reader to display «previous page» resp. «next page» buttons in fullscreen mode like Acrobat Pro does on the left hand buttom corner (or anywhere else...). Is there a way to create a PDF that does that automatically while it opens in «Reader» in fullscreen as well? all I get right now is the hand symbol with an arrow in it...
    Thanks for any hints!

In the preferences of Adobe Reader enable the entry *Show navigation bar':

  • Safari showing previously closed out websites

Safari has been showing previously viewed sites when opening. This happens even when the history has been deleted. Random sites viewed, not even the most recent one!
Where is it storing these previous sites and why arent they being fully deleted when asked to do so???
After reading many forums, many people have the same issue with no response from Apple.
I look forward to some sort of explanation.
    MIke

Tap Settings > Safari then tap to Clear History and Website Data
    Then restart your iPad.
If that doesn't help, reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • URL showing previous page

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 and Oracle 10g
I have an application that shows a login page, with the url as xxx/globalHome.jsp
Once the user has entered in the correct details i have created a jsf Navigation to a detailpage where user information is show.
However in the URL the it still displays xxx/globalHome.jsp even though i have now been taken to the detail.jsp
From the detail page if I then navigate to another page by a click of a button say to a contactUs page the URL then says xxx/detailPage.jsp
Its like the URL that displays is the one from the previous page.
This is affecting our analysis of which user has visited which page.
Please could anyone offer any help?
    thanks

if you use faces navigation rules, you can try adding redirect tag under the navigation rule in faces-config.xml.
Incase of using task flows, select the view inside the task flow and set the Redirect property to true.

  • What happened to the drop down menu on the navigation bar that showed previous pages visited? It was to the right of the "forward/back" arrows.

To the right of the forward/back arrows there was a drop down arrow that would allow you to see the last several stops you had made after doing a search. This was very handy for going back and forth between articles, etc. '''I used it all the time and want it back. '''If this version of Firefox doesn't have it, please tell me how to download the previous version that did have it. Thanks.

The Back/Forward button drop-down arrow marker was removed from Firefox.
To get the tab history drop-down list, you can:
    *right-click the Back/Forward button
*HOLD down the left-click mouse button on the Back/Forward button until the list appears (about 1 second)
*Add back the drop-down marker by installing this Add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

  • My website- created on iWeb (Mac) now uploaded to hosting site, does not show content on 4 pages of photos, though Safari shows everything. ???

All the photos were saved on jpeg format. You can see the text on each page of concern, but not the photos. I have added music to each page of concern with a button to manipulate on/off, and pasted jpeg photos to them which you can see, and music plays with no problem. I re-built the site and uploaded again to hosting site, and am having same problem. Safari shows all pages, text, jpeg photos/music without any problem. So I have a site of 6 pages, and only 2 are completely loadable with Firefox. I have made all updates that have come from Firefox. My Mac is OS X version 10.5.8

Make sure that you use the latest version of the iWeb software to generate the galleries. Older versions of iWeb had problems in current Firefox versions.

  • Safari suddenly displaying pages in a strange font

There are 3 users on my system and this is just affecting me. When I go to any web page what would normally be shown in a normal font has been changed to an almost unreadable one. It's not all the text on the page, and some pages are a lot worse than others (some look completely normal). Nothing has been changed in safari's preferences - I still have ordinary fonts for the standard and fixed width font. This must have something to do with installing a few new fonts into font book to have a look at and then deleting them again. But I can't understand how one could end up affecting the way safari shows a page? I've cleaned the font caches. Tried a restart - nothing helps. It has to be a local change as my other two users are unaffected. Any ideas?

Problem solved! It turned out to be an errant font that I'd installed but which hadn't shown up in Font book called 'mech'. I hadn't thought any more about it yet somehow had begun to interfere with the text of a web page. After looking in the font folder I discovered it was in there and when I went to delete it I was told it was still in use. Quit safari, deleted the file, relaunched and everything back to normal. Can't explain why it was able to alter safari though.

  • How to i get rid of the redirect notice it shows up on my safari whenever i try to go to a different page  it says "the previous page is sending you to: LINK if you do not want to visit this page, you can return to the previous page"

How to i get rid of the redirect notice it shows up on my safari whenever i try to go to a different page
it says "the previous page is sending you to: LINK
if you do not want to visit this page, you can return to the previous page"

Yeah, this seems to be something to do with Google, not your iPhone. A search on that error found this page:
    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Web%20Search/thread?tid=56a3c4b71b3dc1d9&h l=en
which shows people using lots of browsers on different platforms suffering from it. No definitive solutions though.

  • Two finger swipe to go back in Safari isn't the same as clicking on the "show the previous page"

I don't know if Apple knows about this, but swiping on the trackpad with two fingers to go back to the previous page isn't exactly the same as physically clicking on the arrow button on Safari to go back to the previous page.
This is an issue because sometimes when I use the swipe gesture to go back, the previous page stays blank. Nothing shows up. But when I use the arrow button on Safari to go back, this isn't an issue.
I'm sure a lot of people have identified this problem, but I'm not sure if this has been reported to Apple.
    Just like this:
This may be due to the webpage not being fully compatible with Safari, but at least if Apple makes the swipe function work the same way as clicking on the left arrow button, this problem would be gone?

It may not be just a trackpad issue ..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Safari freezin when show the previous page with gestures

    I'm on a Macbook Pro 13 inch mid 2012
Processor 2.5 Ghz intel core i5
    memory 4Gb 1600 MHz DDR3
    OSX 10.9.5
My problem is with Safari 7.1
it just started to happen with the last upgrade of Safari for a can tell, wen I'm navigating several page or just go to a next pager after the first screen, and wen i use my *Gesture for "Show the previous page" it just slide a bit it alwase the some amount, and it just freeze the action and you can't apparently "stop loading page" o " Reload the current page".
and i have to closet that actual Tab and load the page i was in.
it not a big thing bat i think it actually affecting other gestures after the problem triggered and wen i don't notice if it happen it get frustrating if I'm truing to use othere gestures in other window of Safari. have to navigate and find the actual window that got frozen or just close all tabs at one if i don't want go thow the trable of finding it.
Any ideas what it could be cousin the problem or any solution to it?

Is there anyway to fix this without changing my operating system?
I didn't think there was, but my memory is a bit rusty.
Safari 1.3.2 is a bit rough around the edges these days unfortunately.
Your best bet these days is to switch to an alternative browser that is still fully supported on Panther, such as:
    Camino
    Firefox
Sorry, I wish I had better news for the Safari side of things

  • Why can't I swipe with two fingers to show the previous page like in Safari

When I want to go to the previous page I can't do so by swiping two fingers to the right like I can in Safari with the new Lion operating system. I would like to set firefox to have this feature since it is very helpful in my work.

I could not see this as well when I tried to post a link . It just shows the preview of the page. Facebook did not have this feature either.

  • How do you have 2 Safari windows open and show both pages simultaneously on the monitor

How do you keep open 2 Safari windows and show both pages on monitor?

While in Safari with your first window open go to the File menu and select New Window. That will open the second window on which you can navigate to your second web page. Resize both windows to fit on your display.
