Safari shuts down when Macbook Pro goes to sleep in 10.10.1
When I leave the computer open and the screen goes to sleep, I am finding that when I bring it back up, Safari has shut itself down. I have a Macbook Pro 13" with Yosemite 10.10.1
Try having a look in Console, in your Utilities folder. This shows you what your Mac is trying to do on shutdown.
You could post the results back here for people to have a look at.

I am having problems shutting down my MacBook Pro. I go to the apple and click shutdown or restart, it appears the shutdown process starts, the screen goes blue and the little circle keeps going round and round, but nothing happens even after 30 minutes.
Make sure you quit all your applications before shutting down.
And try resetting the SMC.

Does your Mac start properly in safe mode? If so, try resetting the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 This will reset the "boot args", so OS X should start into safe mode. Also, you should verify that the storage of the computer is OK, so open Disk Utility, select "Macintosh HD" on the sidebar and verify the drive. If there's a problem, start in OS X Recovery (holding Command and R keys while your Mac is starting) and repair it -
Does anyone know of a way to force quit Mail. It is preventing me from restarting or shutting down my MacBook Pro running Maverick iOS 10.9.

You're having the same problem? Do you ALWAYS have to Force Quit Mail or will it sometimes just Quite when you select Quit? Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011"), which version of OS X are you running and which version of Mail do you have?

You can change your account to locked mode from your ePrint Center. Once you've changed it you just enter your email address on the allow list.

Why does my macbook pro "goes to sleep" when charging? It is working fine without charging but once I attach the charger to my laptop, it just blacks out or goes to sleep mode and I can't wake it up unless I unpluck the charger.
I read from threads that it is a logic board problem....How do I solve this problem?Try an SMC reset. Follow the method for "a battery you should not remove yourself."

MacBook Pro goes to sleep when copying files from attached drives
I have noticed that since installing Yosemite my MacBook Pro goes to sleep when it is in the middle of copying a large number of files. When I wake it up the copying continues.
I have also noticed that when I am watching videos from my shared iTunes library on an Apple TV the video will stop after about 15 minutes and the connection to the library is lost because the MacBook Pro has gone to sleep. When woken up then access to the library is restored but I need to reselect the movie and then resume.
I have changed the power saving options to do not let drives sleep when idle and do not sleep laptop.
Anyone else have any experience of this or better still a fix.
Thanks in advance.I have just found that if I turn off the display sleep in the power settings then the problem is resolved. It means though that the screen on my MacBook Pro is on all the time albeit with a screen saver.

Not a hard restart (holding down the power button), I hope... if that's the case, then it is extremely unlikely the file is still intact on your computer. If it is, it would be an image on your RAM, and it is time-and-resource-intensive to recover it if it is even there. RAM memory is disposable and always being written over. Sorry dude...
If it wasn't a hard restart, Keynote should have made a backup, unless you 'Force Close'd it.
It really all depends on how your mac was shut down. -

I bought an original CRT iMac two day's before they were launched, which got the reseller into trouble, and had it replaced by APPLE.
This was a great learning process for me dealing with the glitches. :-)
I LOVE MAC. Now own 4 and on my 10th. in 15 years + 7 bought for family.

Safari shuts down when booking flights
Everytime I try to book a flight, Safari shuts down when it's trying to go to the page where it calculates the tax on the flights I have selected. I have no problem with any other pages or sites but I just can't get past this step.
Is this a compatibility problem with aircanada.com and Safari or a problem with my browser specifically?
I recently ran an update on my Adobe software (PhotoShop & In Design). Could this be causing it because I always seem to encounter quirks like this when I run updates? My mail was also incessantly asking for my password each time it checked for mail for two days but that seems to have corrected itself (I did go into Utilities>Passwords and reset them but it still occured for a day and now it's fine)
Any light you can shed on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated - I want to go home for the holidays!

It crashes for me too when selecting the USA version of the site, and trying to book, say, Boston to Toronto.
From the crash it looks like a problem with the WebKit framework Safari uses for the drawing of webpages and would require a patch from the developers to work (or aircanada to change something on their site, I don't claim to know what however...). -

Is this for a Mac? You posted in the Beta for Windows section, you might want to try the Beta for Mac pages instead and see if anyone there know a good fix. Is this just with Adobe's PDF reader, or with Preview too? A workaround could simply be switching to a different reader, if you simply cannot find what causes the crashes. A clean reinstall might do the trick, if you haven't done so already.
If this is on Windows than I would recommend downloading the PDF plugin from http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html

Why is it that after using I-Tunes then closing it I can't shut down my MacBook Pro
If I open I-Tunes then close it the next time I go to shut down my MacBook Pro it just sits there with a gray screen and a spinging wheel all night It does'nt do that with any other app's
Weird. If this were happening to me, I would check/reset the Energy Saver preferences having to do with startup scheduling and or automatic restart. I would also consider deleting associated preference files in /Library/Preferences. I would also try resetting the System Management Controller and/or resetting NVRAM and PRAM.

Mail won't close, can't shut down my MacBook Pro

since 10.7.4 Mail won't close sometimes. I use mail sometimes in Full-Screen, sometimes in the standard mode. If I'm finished with Mail, I close mail using "cmd+w" & "cmd+Q" or "cmd+Q". The programm is closed (window is gone), but the little blue bubble stays under the Mail icon at the dock. If I want to shut down my MacBook Pro (early 2011) I get the message "Can't shut down. You have to end Mail."
This *****. Any suggestions for a fix?I had this issue and got frustrated having to force quit all the time.
I usually quit all programs with shortcut keys.
MAIL now quits everytime if I just click Mail-Quit Mail
Don't use shortcuts to quit it and it will be fine -
