Safari slow - has anyone talked to someone at Apple?

After reading several posts, it seems that safari loading slowly (if at all), etc. may be a large problem for many since late last week sometime. Has anyone been able to get through to Apple or received any info. about the problem? I tried to call but the wait right now is very long.

I'm glad Safari's working for you now, but I've had nothing but problems since the last 2 system updates:
Constant page errors:
'page not found'/'server not found', even though trying it again connects - happened numerous times on the apple site.
Many timeouts - lots of spinning
Stylesheets not loading
Numerous errors with php and sql sites
Text displaying as italic gibberish although web page source code displays correctly
URL's are no longer saved in the "Get Info' comments box on downloads
Slow, slow, slow
Massive memory usage
Crashing
What's happened to Safari? It used to be so fast and reliable. I'm really annoyed it no longer saves urls in the comments field. I've used Camino for the same websites that Safari wouldn't load properly and Camino loaded them perfectly, without error.
I've emptied the cache, rebooted, reset, fixed permissions - it's still slow and buggy. It's not my network connection, as I can use other browsers without these problems. A month ago I wiped my drive and did a clean install of Tiger, so there shouldn't be any issues there.
I was thinking of reinstalling the version of Safari that came with the Tiger install, as that version was working great, but that's obviously a less than ideal solution. It looks like I'll have to use another browser until they get this fixed. Could it be because I'm not using an Intel Mac?

I have also experienced this. I've downloaded the 'No Surprises' ringtone by Radiohead three times and every time I get charged for the ringtone by iTunes and every time it disappears after a while. This is really strange... I haven't talked to anyone at Apple about this, but I checked these forums out just now and, it seems, I'm not the only one with this problem.
I'm using my brand new iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.1.1 and I'm thinking it's a software-related problem too...

Please let me know if you get any answers. I have been trying to download itunes, have downloaded it but when I try to download music it says that I have to download itunes which I have already done (3 times now). When you try to speak to someone at Apple I am told that I don't have the up to date browser - eg firefox chrome etc. How the ..... do I get to speak to someone. Have gone into this chat line in the hope that I can get some answers. I feel that it is a lot easier to illegally download music that to pay for it.

Whatever the rep told you, it is complete nonsense. There is clearly a problem at your end, the Apple TV 3 is capable of more than the Apple TV 2, and you clearly have the Apple TV 2 working perfectly. Since the Apple TV 2 is able to download from the Internet properly, then my suspicion would be your problem lies on your local network. Interference is a common problem on local networks.
Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Has anyone found an answer for apple tv home sharing?

Iv just started using the apple tv 2nd generation. Im connected to a wireless network and streaming from youtube etc works fine.
So far no computer has been recognised by the atv2. Iv tried turning off firewalls but no change, i have the latest updates for itunes and atv2 but nothing. I checked the network ip addresses, all the computers working off the same accounts have the address 192.168.1.2 ,3 , 4 etc and the atv is 5 so i think that means theyre on the same network.
I have feeling the homesharing function could be the problem because none of the computers are picking up each others libraries or recognising any other devices (atv included) at all in the itunes device bar. Also, the homesharing icon disappears from all computers once you sign in.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone been able to fix these problems? Id really really appreciate it.

Since I got my Apple TV2 I have had variable success with home sharing. My current set up is talktalk router (being used as a modem with wifi off), LAN connection to airport extreme (bridge). Apple TV connected to airport extreme via ethernet cable, imac, iphone, mac mini connecting to airport by wifi. There is a talktalk firewall on the modem but nothing on any of my devices or the airport extreme. Home sharing is on, the sleep settings are wake for network access. Tried Apple TV2 wireless but same problems.
At all times all my devices can access the internet via the airport extreme but the apple TV keeps loosing the imac library. Off/On of itunes sometimes helps but only reliable solution is to disconnect imac from network and reconnect.
When I use my macmini upstairs home sharing works fine with no problems so I would think the problem lies with homesharing and the apple TV. Very occasionally (much less than apple TV losing library) the imac loses internet although appears connected to airport with all lights green. iMac airport off/on also resolves this problem.
Any suggestions?

Has anyone had success in getting Apple to correct Maps mistakes?

On multiple occasions I've submitted a correction using the function within Maps to report errors, but nothing is ever done. Has anyone ever had any success in getting Apple's attention and getting something fixed? Or is the submitting a correction feature just a black hole? I've had to tell friends with iPhones to always use Google Maps rather than Apple to navigate their way to my house because Maps has completely mislabeled the street outside my development. It sure would be nice if they had a human being you could call...

Depending on your printer and the type of driver update, you might need to scan in a different way than you did before you installed Mountain Lion.
Scan from the Print & Scan window:
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
Click the Apple menu (# ), and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan (# ).
Click your printer in the left pane.
Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .

Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .
NOTE:

It won't matter what someone else may have experienced. If the iTunes Store has refused your request, then your only possible recourse at this point is to call Apple Support, ask to speak with someone in Customer Relations, and discuss the issue with them. If you have done so and they have refused to help, or you contact them and they cannot, then there's nothing else you can do as regards getting a solution from Apple. Contact your credit card company and report the charges as fraudulent.
These are technical support forums and discussions about Apple's polices aren't allowed, so that's all we can advise.

After updating to iOS5, browsing (playing) music on the lock screen has gotten really slow, has anyone else had this problem?

As the title states, browsing music while playing it on the lock screen has really slowed down, while it used to zap to another song quite instantly it now takes about one, sometimes two seconds to do so. Did iOS 5 cause this? Will it be fixed? Any other explenations?

I rarely record automation, and when I do I never do a second pass (usually hand draw automation in) but I have had problems with Logic 7 no longer playing back automation. I've been told its fixed in Logic 8, but in the mean time here is a work around.
Select the region where the automation is (if there is no region, create one using the pencil tool and expand it to cover all automation) and go OPTIONS menu -> TRACK AUTOMATION -> "Move current track data to region data." Now everything should play back as expected. If you want to edit the data, simply select "move current region data to track data" and edit away.
For some reason, Logic 7 will sometimes stop reading track automation data, but I have yet to have it stop reading region automation. This is a bug, and according to other users, has been fixed in Logic 8. Hope this helps until we eventually upgrade

When I'm talking on my phone, my sister and husband have heard an annoying sound. They say it doesn't happen all the time though. I don't hear the noise. I took off the case and it is still happening. I'm getting very frustrated!

I've read of some knowledgable users being able to string these scammers, who are probably mostly low-rent phone dialers with a script to follow, along for ten or fifteen minutes by asking all sorts of naive questions. Is there a way to actaully talk to someone at apple whereby it doesn't cost money? I downloaded an app and now the stupid phone says that there is compass interference and to move away from the interference. Well, I am in the middle of a field. Now what?

Is there actually a way to talk to a service person at Apple where you don't have to shell out money? I downloaded an app that cost $9.99 and when I tried to use it I get a message that says there is compass interference and to move away from the interference or wave the phone in a figure 8 pattern. Well, now I have a sore arm from constant waving out in the middle of a field and it appears that is going to cost $29 to talk to a person. Does anyone have any idea why this is occuring? As a side note, I can use a normal compass with no issues so it is the phone. From a customer perspective, this is poor customer service.

First of all, an idle threat is one that a person has no intention of carrying out. In the past 16 months that I have had this phone I have become less and less satisfied and found that it is like much of today's technology....over rated and under performing. The one thing that I have never been accused of is not wanting, or not giving help but when a company makes itself unavailable to resolve issues and leaves it to forums run by users helping users, it speaks more about the company than anything else they could do. As I said, I do not make idle threats and I did not threaten you in any way. Guess I'll call this topic done with as it is not and was not the intent to get a war started

I had a problem with my computer a while ago (actually it's having the same problem now) and after going round and round with people on the phone and getting nowhere I recieved an e-mail from Apple asking how my recent phone experience was, needless to say I fired off an angry and frustrated missive and the next day received a call from Stephanie who agreed to have the computer fixed under an exception code. I took the computer in and the tech said all it needed was the have the video card reseated. It worked nearly flawlessly for a year or so and now the same problems are appearing. I lost my contact number for Stephanie and I was wondering if anyone here had it so I could see if I could appeal to the sense of generosity she displayed previously.

Today it allows you to visit a few test sites around the internet (e.g. http://www.ipvs.apple.com), but nothing other than that. That will eventually change when they truely run out of IPv4 IP addresses, which they have said for years would happen, but not today. I've had mine turned off for years with no ill effects.
What has changed is that in preparation for the day they have to issue IPv6 addresses to new sites, they established June 6th as Worldwide IPv6 day when ISP's were supposed to turn it on and some have. Most apparently have not or are still in the process of rolling it out which seems to have caused problems for many users over the past couple of weeks. I have not seen a good analysis of what's wrong yet and Apple's troubleshooting guidance is still very thin. I've heard rumors that iTunes wasn't ready, that OS X 10.5.8 can't handle it, that the capability was initially removed from Airport Utility 6.0, etc. I turned mine all on for a few minutes, and everything slowed to a crawl.
So some day you will need to turn it back on in order to access every site you need, but until then I think it's best to avoid problems until things settle down.

For a school that uses iPads for learning I would not set up a email for them on the iPads at all. They need to learn so have them set up an account thru gmail lets say and dedicate it for the class's. Anything school related they would use this email.
What you would need to do is have them provide the user/password in writing and also have on thier that they allow an administrator to access the account at any time if needed. Also make sure to put in thier that this email is strictly to be used for school related, class related events. It is not a personal email, not to be used for any personal activity.
This last part should be looked over by the school officials and lawyers but something of that sort will keep you out of trouble.
When you use devices such as this in education, the more you let them do the better.
The issue you will have is blocking stuff on the server side, websites ect..

I've tested this along side me, my brother's, and my gf's IPhone 4 8GB, as well as my moms IPhone 4s 16GB, and my gf's IPod touch 1&2g 8GB, and all 6 of those seem to have a rather soft press sound.

Yeah I'm starting to think this retailer has been cutting some corners or something. Imagine it's kind of like the key press sound the iPhone makes when typing.

Definitely a phishing email. It's total nonsense. Delete all emails from Apple, Amazon, Paypal, your bank, and every other email that asks for your personal details. Any outfit you deal with are well aware of the necessary data, and have no need for you to tell them again.
