Safari slow to load or doesn't load webpage on wakeup

I'm running Safari 8.03 on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C1510), MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009), 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. My issue is once my MBP enters sleep mode, upon wakeup safari will not load or is very slow if it loads. However Google Chrome seems to work. What could be causing this to happen? I'm not sure if updates have anything to do with it but usually I have to restart my MBP to get it to operate correctly. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you don't already have another User Account - it's simple to create one:
Open System Preferences (if you can't find this, look in the Applications Folder)
Click on Accounts
Click the Padlock icon at the lower left & enter an Admin Password
Now click the + button just above the padlock
Enter a name for the new account - like "Test"
You can leave the password field blank if you wish
Leave the "allow user to administer this computer" box UN-Checked
Click "Create Account"
Now you have another Account to test Safari in -
Log Out from your normal Account via the Apple menu at top-left of your screen
Log in to the Test Account that you created
Does the problem still show up in the Test Account ?
Regarding the DNS numbers - Open System Preferences ( either from he blue Apple menu at top left of your screen, or from your Applications folder)
Click the Network icon, then click the TCP/IP tab
In the DNS servers box - enter 4.2.2.1 then press enter; then on the next line, enter 4.2.2.2 then click "apply now"
These are US dns servers which have worked well for many people, so it's worth a go.

Safari will not load webpages

Safari will not load web pages. The browser hangs and stops loading completel and will not connect to the internet, even though I am perfectly connected to wifi...so I know it's not the wifi that's a problem. I have looked through multiple forums for troubleshooting safari to no avail.
I know for a fact that the problem lies within safari SOMEWHERE, and since the only way for me to connect to the internet is through safari (i'm on a school network that doesn't allow me to connect to any other web browsers), I can't run any updates, reinstall safari, download any programs, etc.
I'm totally stuck in a rut and I don't know what to do...help!

Macbook is slow to load webpages and youtube videos are stopping

I just recently purchased a Macbook pro, however, its been slow to load webpages, youtube videos, etc. The youtube videos frequently stop playing and I have to reload the page. Its not the connection and I havent had the computer long enough to have to clear safari chache. WHY

Sorry to bump this, but I'm having the same issue, though it's not a poor router problem (upgraded that hoping it would fix it).
I tried the OpenDNS and it helped once, then stopped loading Netflix (Netflix, Youtube, and Facebook seem to be common problems, as well as "new" webpages that I don't go to often). If I connect directly to my Ethernet the internet works great. My iPhone connected to WiFi works great. It's just my Macbook pro and it just recently happened when I moved to my new house (I had the same ISP at an apartment and had 0 issues). Any thoughts?

Safari slow to load after upgrading to 10.10.2

Ever since upgrading my brand new Mac to 10.10.2, Safari has been exceedingly slow to load -- sometimes refusing to load, altogether. Any help with this?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked

Safari slow to load nytimes etc

Safari has become SO slow to load many pages -- for example, wsj.com or nytimes.com. Sometimes it takes so long, I switch to Chrome. Any solution to this?

Safari is very slow to load web sites. They can be frequently used sites or new ones. They just take a long time to load. I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.3

There are many possible causes for problems with web browsing. Below are some simple steps that may help either to solve the problem or isolate the cause.
Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Restart your router and also your broadband device, if they're separate.
2. If you connect to the the router with Wi-Fi, turn off Wi-Fi and then back on.
3. If you connect with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi.
4. If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed.
5. Select the Extensions tab in the Preferences window. Turn all extensions OFF and test. If there's an improvement, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

if it's checked.
7. If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked

Safari Slow to load, despite high speed internet

Lately I've been having an issue where web pages are rediculously slow to load and Itunes downloads are coming in at a crawl. Speedtest.net gave me high results at 15mbps dowload 2mbps upload but a 50 mb podcast was going to take 45 hrs to download. I've tried clearing caches and resetting Safari but this hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

Try this:
The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

Many, including me, have also followed the advice given by others here to add DNS codes to their Network Settings, with good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
Restart Safari, and repair permissions.

Safari Slow to Load Certain Web Pages

Has anyone found a fix for the web pages that get "stuck"

This has been an ongoing problem in Safari v2.0x with OS X v10.4. However, I would describe this as "Safari stalls when loading Web pages." It seems like it may happen on certain pages, but it has been my experience that this can happen on any Web page at any give time: In fact, it just happened when I tried to load the Safari Discussions forum page!
- Safari attempts to load a Web page
- Progress bar in address field stalls at mid-point or later
- Web page never finishes loading but sometimes, if you're patient, it takes a minute or more to load, but eventually finishes
- More often, cancelling the page load (Command/Period) and then immediately hitting Command/R (or selecting Reload Page from the View menu) usually loads the page immediately!
Once, I thought it might be favicons, but I had just reset that folder to Read Only. Also, I just used Font Book to Resolve Duplicate Fonts before seeing it happen again. This is pretty frustrating, and never seems to get better.

Mac Pro Slow to load webpages

Almost overnight, My MacPro (late 2009 Dual Quad, 2 1Tetra HD) started to REALLY slow down when loading webpages on both Safari and Firefox. Some times , I will get the "safari can't find browser" message...and if I try it again, it will load....after it loads and I go back to in within the same internet session, it is usually ok. And these are my topsites that I go to all the time. Did not know if anyone had any ideas. I tried to find if there were some type of diagnostic software, but could not find it.
Could I possibly have a virus...if so any suggestions on how to rid myself of it.

Also, 3 x 2GB (or 4 x 2GB) is basic, I would hate to see someone running with less than 6GB, and some have a need for 12-24GB easily.
Keep your system in good shape with SuperDuper and Disk Warrior (clone it over to a new drive). Installing a system and apps can really fragment all the free space and while files may not be, it still helps to clone once in awhile, and optimize free space etc.
For some apps, 8GB really is not a lot (CS4/5 for instance_) though I'm sure you'll find those that say their system is 'fine' with that amount for their work. Others really need more (fast raid0 for boot; scratch; and media).
Avoid 'green' drives for active work. And while fast, a full 1TB drive full track seek is still going to be slow... another reason to clone/optimize.

Safari slow to load pages

I have a new 20" i-mac (does not have the intel duo processor). When I first took it out of the box and got DSL, it was lightening fast. Now, my DSL service is as slow as dial up. I have contacted the cable company, and they came out and replaced the line, but the tech said that I needed to figure out what was wrong with Safari, as it was having trouble loading pages that had compressed graphics. He suggested that I take it to a store to get Safari fixed. Any idea what might be wrong with Safari (if anything) and has anyone else had this problem?

Try these basics and report back, OK?
There's more we can suggest, but IMHO, these are where to start.
1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
2. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
Suggestion: Every once in a while, I shut down my Mac and unplug everything --- my Mac, the modem and the router. Wait a couple minutes, plug in the modem/router, and when the lights stabilize, turn the Mac back on. This is really simple, and often works wonders.
Questions:
Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling, and will interfere with the fast browsing that is usual for Safari. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.

Safari SLOW to load Union Bank

New imac 24". DSL, Internet explorer loads johndoebank.com FAST, user name through password, less than 30 seconds on windows computer and Internet explorer in Bootcamp. SAFARI 4 takes about 6 minutes start to finish. Spent hour + on phone with apple, in the end told me to reinstall OSX, which meant installing all the updates as well, they hung up.
No help, still excruciatingly SLOW. Why buy an apple? This has to be fixed.
Is this a network problem, if so why does IE in windows load so fast. Someone has to have experienced this problem.
All other websites load normally, also Safari @ work loads fine, so does IE on windows for this bank website, so it appears the problem with this site is at my home!

While it may be frustrating, it's not hopeless, so don't be so quick to assume that it's Apple's fault; it could be any number of things unrelated to Apple.
The first thing to do is use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions, then restart Safari and see if things improve. If not, create a new user account and test Safari there; if the problem still exists, then it's a systemwide issue.
You should also open System Preferences>Network and add these two DNS servers to your configuration there:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then click Apply Now, quit System Preferences and restart Safari to see if the speed improves.
Post back with results.

Safari Slow to Load/Freezes Up (Non-Responsive)

I'm not sure if this would be caused from the recent update to my Macbook Pro - appears the last update had me go from Mountain Lion to Mavricks, btw.
Lately the Safari browser either becomes completely un-responsive or it begins to load a page, but halfway it pauses. I understand that this can simply be something going wrong with my internet connection, but being none of my other devices patched into my wifi network seem to not have this problem. I'm convinced something must running amok with my Macbook Pro, or Safari itself.
Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone know what I can do to resolve this issue? Its starting to become annoying

Might be a cache issue ..
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try here > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Safari slow to load

When I access Safari and even Firefox it takes a long tie for a window to load. For example, when I open a newspaper site, such as the New York Times, it really takes long to load. What is happening? Can anyone give me solid assistance?

Here are a few things you can do which should help:
1. Open System Preferences > Network.
2. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:

Click on Apply Now and close the window.
3. Restart Safari and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
Also:

Safari slow to load page after loading 3/4 of the page normally

It seams like after the last Safari update a month or so ago is when this problem started. When I first open Safari and navigate to certain web pages (CNN.com and Facebook.com for example) the page will load about 3/4 of the way and then hang for about a minute or more. Mostly, it's the pictures on the page that aren't loaded yet. After about a minute or so, the page will either finish loading; sometimes with all the pictures loaded and sometimes with just a question marks in the space where the picture should have loaded.
I have used the Safari reset many of times and have restart the computer with no luck. Firefox works just fine with no issues. Anyone have any ideas?

How much free space is on the boot disk? Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Insufficient disk space can cause the problems you are experiencing.
If it isn't disk space.. if you don't have a disk utility, try Onyx. It's free and available here:

Run the Maintenance and Cleaning scripts once a week.
Repair Disk Permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
