The sound on my iMac (10.10.3) in Safari (Version 8.0.5) for YouTube is very soft. It is fine in Firefox.

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • Safari Sound Problem

    Hi,
This morning I downloaded the latest update for the Mac DivX Player. It may be coincidental, but since then all sound from my browser/RealPlayer (everything from the internet, in fact) will only play through my computer's built-in speaker.
iTunes, games, system sounds, all play through my selected output device (external speakers) with no problem. In fact the two outputs are both functioning at the same time. I thought that you had to choose between outputs, with the exception of alerts etc., in the Sound preferences.
I have the case open, and a hammer ready. what do I hit?
    G5 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hi, I seem to have accidentally stumbled on the answer in another forum. It was yesterday's security update that killed my sound, not today's DivX.

  • No sound on YouTube in Safari

The sound on youtube performances has suddenly stopped working. I get no sound, either thru the iMac's speakers, or with headphones. Anybody have any ideas what happened?
    Thanks,
    T/

    HI,
If your forum profiles is correct; 10.4.4, you need to update your system software. Click the Apple Menu/Software Updates.
After the udpates try uninstalling then reinstalling a new copy of Flash which is required for YouTube.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
    Then Repair Disk Permissions
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

  • Why is there no sound on YouTube on my 10.6.8 Mac Intel laptop when it works perfectly on my iPad with 7.0.6? I am not going to "up"grade either, as it would kill too much software I refuse to throw out.

Is there any way to get Safari to give me sound on YouTube without buying a new computer?

I had a similar problem trying to install Win7 x64 on my 2009 iMac. I finally copied the entire Boot Camp driver folder from the OS X installation DVD to Windows. Then I went to \drivers\bootcamp64.msi, right-clicked on it and selected Troubleshoot Compatibility. Windows chugged a bit and came up with a dialog that said Try Recommended Settings. Click on that, then Start Program. The Boot Camp installer now worked great.
    Give it a shot.

  • Video but no sound on YouTube

Running the newest version of FF, Windows XP. Everything was working beautifully until I downloaded the ActiveX plugin when prompted a few days ago. Then the sound on YouTube got borked--I can see the videos just fine, but no sound at all.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, the Active X plugin, and Shockwave, to no avail. Can someone explain suggestions to someone who is in no way a computer person? Thank you!

Hello, I am not familiar with FF, using IE6. But what caught my eye is you said you downloaded the active x plugin "when prompted"
That is how I came to know there even was a F.P.10 update, a window popped up and said it was availabe and did I want to install now,
later or remind me later. I said, sure, install now. LOL I have since resolved my problem.
I know on the Adobe site, there is a download and install for Windows and one for FF.  Do you think the "prompt" installed on IE? I wouldn't think so, but it's a thought. I know you can switch back and forth from FF to IE
Also it might be a good idea to go to www.adobe.com/software/flash/about and Adobe will tell you if you have installed F.P. & they will tell you the version as well.
Like I said, not familiar with FF, but with IE, I had to go into manage add ons & update the active x of Shockwave Flash & Reboot.

Re: Flash Player 10 not working in specific sites
Hi, thanks. Well the fact that you could see the animation means you have Flash Player Installed correctly and the latest version. However, I would like you to Use IE and go to Tools, Manage Addons. Then look for "Show"(very light text) and look in All Add ons for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled. It should also say vs 10.1.82.76. -->
    ***MINE IS: IE 10.0.32.18 ***
Then use FF(Firefox) and go to Plugins and look for Shockwave Flash vs 10.1.82.76 and make sure it is Enabled.
*** MINE IS: FF: Shockwave Flash 10.0.82.76  AND Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 ***
I so not know if these answers (above) apply completely to my problem, they were very simular!
PLEASE Advise? I am not even sure if the problem is with Adobe... feeling stupid! -- Understanding all of this is difficult for me to absorb!
I would Appreciateany help you can provide, I haven't had sound in a long time. Other sounds from my file work fine.
    Thank you,
    Char

    Hello again.
I uninstalled and reinstalled  -  Followed all of your advise, Thank you for responding!
    This is SO FRUSTRATING!
I have had no sound for a very long time now. Not your problem, mine! - I should have not waited in dealing with this!
Restarted the computer.. here is the current info. after reinstalling:
    From   http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Windows      Internet Explorer (and other browsers that support Internet Explorer ActiveX controls and plug-ins)      10.1.85.3
Windows     Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera (and other plugin-based browsers)     10.1.85.3
Macintosh - OS X     Firefox, Opera, Safari     10.1.85.3
    Linux     Mozilla, Firefox, SeaMonkey     10.1.85.3
    Solaris     Mozilla     10.1.85.3
At least their all using the same version now, IE and FF were using different versions when I checked last time!
I also visited the website you suggested for checking my  Adobe settings, I found it interesting but have no clue as to what I am supposed to do there? I read the entire page,  and went through each of the different settings, but don't understand how that applies to my no sound problem!
***  I am also not getting any of the Windows start up sounds, or closing etc. Does this make a difference for helping to identify the problem / SOLUTION any further?
I read Microsofts help pages,  they suggested looking at my device manager, everything was okay there (so far).
I thought I had read in one of the Adobe Forums to check for Driver updates...? Do you know for which Drivers?
I did check the  Realtek website -  As I am using: Realtek Semiconductor Corp AC97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller  Dated:  12/28/2006   this date has to be wrong!
    Version no. 5.10.0.6210
I am afraid of doing Anything without some kind of direction.- - - Please HELP? (Don't give up)!
Do you have Any more ideas? Or Suggestions?
YOU and your help are Very much Appreciated!
    Thanks again, Char

  • Sound Problems on iPad: how to fix, easy [video]

    Hi dear iPad user,
Most people will, eventually, have sound problems: the cause can be complex as a 'miss-behaved' app that messes the sound engine or as simple as the iPad being forgotten on Mute/Volume Down.
I used to help family and friends to fix their iPads' sound problems by sending them 'text' instruction steps... lots of times they ended up calling me on the phone...
    So I made a video (short: 1m40s):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjBP-Ncj_fE
    It shows:
how to unmute the sound (even if the side-switch locks the rotation of the screen)
    how to put volume up
how to close all the apps (in the case there is an App messing with the sound system)
how to reboot the iPad (ultimatelly fixes hard cases of messed sound system)
What it won't fix: if you have a hardware problem...
If you do all the steps and you get NO SOUND AT ALL, please, try also checking if you car listen sounds using a HEADPHONE (you know are working conditions). If you can listen to sounds in the headphone but no sound at all in the iPad's built in speaker, well, there might be a hardware problem and you should look for help on an Apple Retail Store or other official technical support available at your location.
    Hope this helps!
    Everson.

UPDATE: fixing iPad Sound after iOS 7
    http://youtu.be/SDf1LDcE95Q
    (1min 36sec)
    It covers the basics:
    checking side-switch / mute / "Control Center"
    volume all up
    ...and also the worst cases:
closing all apps (for rare cases when a single app might render the sound system instable)
    rebooting the iPad
So, don't get desparete: try the things in the video.
There are people who reported having forgotten an audio-bluetooth connection activated with a turned-off sound-system or speakers... or forgot Air-Play turned on... so be sure you disengage bluetooth and/or airplay.
On the 'hardware side', dirty dock connector (30 pin) can make the iPad 'think' it is connected to external audio - if so, cleaning it with a dry toothbrush can fix. Also, moisture in the headphones connector can make the iPad switch to 'headphones' even without headphones connected, making it silent: check if you can hear things with headphones plugged in - if so, try gently inserting and removing headphones a few times and check if you get sound back to iPad's speakers alone.
Good luck to everybody! Audio problems are quite common - fontunately they are easy to fix.

  • Safari not playing youtube videos

safari not playing youtube videos all of a sudden plz help playing on chrome and safari plug in and flash player is up to date and java is enabled ...

I found on an other post more informations. The problems is in OS X since Yosemite 10.10.1 it doesn't work, we will have to wait for a new Update form apple (10.10.2) to resolve that issue.
Use an other browser instead meanwhile. For more information ; Re: Yosemite 10.10.1 causing Safari not to play YouTube videos...

  • No Flash Sound on YouTube

    HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv9700
    Service Tag dv9910us
    Window 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
Get no Flash sound on YouTube or CNN.  Get good sound from YouTube videos saved to hard drive by Realplayer.   Then the saved YouTube video plays everywhere: Windows Media Player, VLC and Realplayer.  I recall the YouTube sound disappeared in the last weekend of Nov 2011 when Flash was automatically updated.  At first it was intermittent and then silent forever.
So far.  No luck.   I deleted and reinstalled Adobe Flash.  Even tried the Flash Uninstall Utility.  Actually I deleted everything with Adobe listed on it vias Control Panel Uninstall.  I deleted the sound driver for the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and reinstalled.  I even unpdated it.  I consecutively deleted and downloaded the latest versions of IE, FireFox & Chrome.  I tried Microsoft Fix-It.
In Device Manager, there are two yellow warnings.  NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (Code 10) and USB Host Controller (Code 43).  I don't know if one of these can be the issue.
One weirdo.  Sound worked for 30 seconds one night the first week of March when my wife innocently started to watch YouTube.  When I realized it and called it to her attention, the sound disappeared.  Go figure!
I'm thinking of restoring Windows 7, but that will create a lot of work for me.
Any new information on a fix?
With so many complaints -- it seems -- everywhere, I'm surprised someone like Adobe has fixed the problem?
Naive question:  Are we locked into Adobe Flash Player for YouTube or CNN?
    Thanks.
