Safari stuck on site. Reset not working

I have a macbook pro using version 10.7.5. My child went on some old pokemon site on the web and now I can't use Safari. Site was Angelfire.com/bc/pokemonbeach/mpmcmembers.html and evidently it is some very old unsupported site. Tried resetting Mac and control r and still get taken to this website every time I open Safari. The website has a box that pops up and asks for a password. I can't click on anything and everythingin all sSafari settings is grayed out so I can't just click on another Window or site. Only way to exit out is to right click Safari from dock but when I reopen it I'm taken back to same site. I'm lost and any help would be appreciated. And I have tried shift/ctrl/option reset and control r to reset Safari with no luck

I have an iPad Mini and I have this same question: stuck on a website - background is greyed out - only way to proceed is to register on this website and I DO NOT want to register. Nothing gets me out. The response by mende1 was for a macbook pro. There do not seem to be the same options under Settings>General for closing windows when quitting an application on the Mini. Since there is no Dock, I can't right click on the icon, either. Does anybody know how to do this neat trick on an iPad Mini?

Mac acting as if the apple key is stuck down+ pram reset not working

My Mac pro has started acting as if the apple key is held down! Menus and cursers are all wrong or not working at all. Rebooting cures it for a few hours but sometimes only a few minutes, I've tried swapping keyboards ( twice ) and using diffrent usb sockets without any joy so I'm starting to think it's a system problem. One suggestion I read was to reset the pram but even that won't work. Holding down the command / option / P / R combo at start up doesn't do anything.

Boot off your *original* Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some Discs have it inexplicably on Disc #2. Some models have a separate AHT CD.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

Facebook, hotmail and other sites are not working on safari. i have tried everything. downloaded google chrome still didn't work. downloaded firefox, still didnt work. tried to update my computer but at the end it always says an error occurs. and i cant find a download for mac os x anywhere.. someone help?

If you look at the "More Like This" box (top right), other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads. It appears you are not the only two having this problem.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I am trying to open a service request and the site does not work with ANY browser. I get the page https://getsupport.apple.com/GetParts.action which says "Send in for service. We just need a little more information." The continue button does not work. I've seen this problem before trying to file support requests. It's as if Apple simply does not want you to create requests.

I just went through several screens and had no problems. Try clearing your browser's cache and/or history.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

OK - to answer my own question, Apple recommend 8.2.1, but you can install 9.1.1 and it will run on a G3. Very slowly. Looks like this is the only option. Get it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1036. You need OSX 10.4.11 or later though....

App store, Safari, software updates, icloud, do not work in Mavericks 10.9. these problems are interrelated I am sure. Apple apps were working fine in 10.8.5 I could do software updates through a proxy server using password authentication. I reinstalled a new system 10.9 on another partition and it won't let me use Safari or update software using a proxy server. Firefox works fine (I am using it to post). I am very disappointed that this wasn not fully tested BEFORE releasing Mavericks. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem myself.
Checked the system log with Console, and I found the entry:-
Nov 11 11:16:41 teds-new-mac.ad.mycompany.co.uk ocspd[537]: Authentication challenge received for "10.203.39.212:8080", unable to obtain proxy server credential from System keychain.
For some unknown reason, Mavericks seems to be looking in the System keychain, when these credentials are actually held in the Login keychain.
So, I tried "Copy & Paste" - copying the https user name & password from the Login keychain and pasting into the System keychain, which worked but it's not quite as straightforward as I initially thought.
Pasting into the System Keychain was, I found a not-very-intuitive process:
Having opened your Login Keychain, click once on the item to be copied and when it's highlighted, select "Copy" from the Edit menu or, of course, cmd+c.
Select the System Keychain:- DO NOT CLICK THE PADLOCK IN THE TOP LEFT TO UNLOCK IT.
From the Edit menu, select "Paste" or cmd+v.
You will then get a dialogue box,, enter your administrator's password and select "Modify Keychain" or just hit return, as it's the default entry.
I found a restart was in order before it recognised everything and would accept https pages without alert boxes, but YMMV.
Funnily enough - and this is where it seems counter-intuitive, if you do click on the padlock and unlock the System Keychain, "Paste" is greyed out in the Edit menu and cmd+v has no effect.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Since version 10 of firefox, I see, the "Remote XUL Manager" malfunctioning. Overlays on the XUL sites do not work anymore.

Connection to One Site simply not working

Anyone any ideas please. I simply can't connect to Halifax bank. www.halifax.co.uk On odd occasions it has gone to the home page, but when I try to sign in I can't. Just get the message can't find server. Halifax say there is nothing wrong with their system, and I can access all other Bank Accounts. it's not Safari, as it doesn't work on Firefox or Opera either. Worked fine yesterday. Have emptied cache, deleted cookies, restarted machine, switched off at Power source, emptied trash and goodness knows what else. I cannot think why it simply cannot find this site. Need to transfer some money so if anyone has any idea it would be really appreciated. thanks. steve.

GoDaddy's webformmailer.php on my site is not working

I am stuck. I created a site for a client and uploaded it to the GoDaddy server so they could also do updates on their HTML editor. I used the GoDaddy webformmailer.php code they provide and it did work initally. We tested it several times a few months ago and the test emails were coming through. We did an update on the site, not touching the webformmailer.php code, and now it is not working. She even had about 15-20 people say on Facebook that they used the contact page to send messages.
I reached out to GoDaddy twice so far, both times with run-around answers:

Add a captcha to it so it verify's that it is indeed a human...
Can someone help me out here? Has anyone else had this issue? I am not .php or SQL savy, just breaking ground with it, but, obviously it worked before, something happened on GoDaddy's end to make it not work now. I've tested your core code (the php that's in red) on a GoDaddy account that includes the PHP script, and the script works. I simply pasted it within the <body> tags of a rudimentary HTML file (empty <head> and no other code).
However, I agree with those who have said there are better form-handling options, and because form-handling is such a fundamental website feature, I am beginning also to agree with MurraySummers that GD is not a service I'd recommend. For more than a decade, I've enjoyed using a CGI program called CGIEmail (which I think was originally published by MIT), but GoDaddy has nothing like it. The form data arrives in a text email, not an awkward attachment, and can be arranged in any order, accompanied by any text you want (e.g., instructions, verbose field names, HTML tags and text, CSV record line, whatever, including more than on of these formats in a single email), and can send to any email address(s) you specify. Different forms can send to different addresses, which are specified in the a forms' formatting file, which is a txt file, stored in a restricted directory. (GoDaddy has said a script would not be able to access a restricted directory without displaying the password ... I suppose also bumblebees cannot fly? In any case, GoDaddy could support that in another way if they really cared to.). I was hoping to adapt one of their PHP scripts to create a PHP equivalent, but they provide no documentation (except the install instructions) and it's not a promising use of my time.
Since this thread is 9 months old, I assume you've resolved your problem by now, but for the record, I'd try running just the PHP in a simple .php file as I did, and be sure the webformmailer.php program is in your root directory. In case it might be corrupted, you might contact GoDaddy support to learn how to reinstall it. The install instructions include a link to that process, but I can't say whether or not the reinstallation might have unwanted side effects. If it still doesn't work, then the problem must (have been) elsewhere on your page, or (the most likely cause) you haven't specified the target address correctly. All three of GoDaddy's email scripts send only to one address, which you specify on a separate page for your account.
If you've resolved this problem, please consider explaining how. It might be of help to others.

Safari 5.1 (7534.50) not working

I bought a brand new Windows 7 machine a while ago and installed Safari 5.0 on it. It always had a problem getting to gmail.com. I'd get a message saying it couldn't verify the security certificate. I finally tried installing a later version. Now Safari does not work at all. It runs but it never finds any websites. Here is what I tried (unsucessfully) to fix this.
1) Use Windows restore to before I put in new version
2) Reset Safari
3) Completely uninstall and re-install (both an old 5.05 version and the newer version)
4) Create a new user and try running on that user
IE and Firefox continue to work, but I like Safari. Any thoughts?

When you install an Apple app, it installs the latest Apple common support components, so unless you uninstall that also, you haven't downgraded completely. Those libraries are shared by iTunes, Safari.
Safari: looks nice, but detest it performance (or lack) and had to get rid of 5.1 totally.
Older versions than 5.1 have security risks, not multi-threaded, poor performance as a result, and I need to have bookmarks I can work with, on the side (as IE9 and Firefox) and not menus.
Apple and Safari have components in AppData and Windows ProgramData and ProgramFiles (x86).
I would not rely on Safari's Reset to actually remove its stored files.
Also new version can be affected by extensions and plug ins that use to work but won't, usually for security purposes.

Miix 2 10 freezing - hard reset not working

Hello! For the second time in a few days my miix 2 10 decided not to wake up again. The windows button makes it vibrate. But no reactions beside that. Last time the error disappeared after some time, I dont' know why. Would not be a big deal to me beside this fact: Right now I am not able to perform a hard reset. What are the options to do a hard reset? Is it pressing the power button for more than 10 seconds? Does not work. Pressing both volume and power button? Does not work. What to do? Got my Miix 2 10" on Monday 15. Performed a lot of Windows uptates, unistalled Mc Affee and connected a Bluetooth mouse. Then the tablet lost contact with the keyboard and track-pad. Tried to restore Windows, but got a message telling me no recovery partition was found. Then the screen went black. The tablet did not recognise the power switch, and it was impossible to reset or switch it off. Pressed the button for more than one minute. Funny thing is the mouse pointer from the bluetooth mouse moved around, but nothing else was visible. I could see in my router that the tablet was connected to my Wi-Fi, so it was not completely dead. Left it over-night and tested it in the morning, but still not able to wake it up or shut it down. Back from work in the evening it had obviously drained the batteries, and wake up normally when connected to the charger. When the batteries was fully charged I switched it off (not sleep). It was not possible to switch it on again without using the charger. I have not been able to replicate this, but it is not a good feeling to have a mobile unit that can lock itself up completely, or not wake up without external power.... Windows log files indicates that it shut down because of power loss about 15 hours after the initial freeze.The bluetooth mouse was installed with standard Windows driver. Tablet is European / Nordic version manufactured 12. jan 2014. Bios is 95CN12WW, 25.12.2013. I do really hope Lenovo manage to sort of the trouble with this tablet. Its quite nice, and I like it except the scary feeling of being stuck with a brick.
