SAFARI suddenly can't open pages

Hi,
SAFARI on my iPad suddenly can't open certain pages (including this Apple discussion page) that I used to be able open without any issues. Sometimes certain pages don't appear correctly. I did restart my iPad and also delete cookies and browsing history but it's the same. Please help.
Thanks.

  • Yosemity safari https can´t open page

When our users with Yosemity installed try to connect to the internal site https://privat.alecta.se in Safari, they get a timeout and "Can´t open page" message. If the refresh the page they get connected to the site. It works on other operating systems such as Maverick, Windows regardless of browser.

    Hi Dan
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Usually "can't find the server" means the DNS codes supplied by your Internet Provider are somewhat lacking (Firefox has its own Network mechanism, so the two are not comparable). The alternative is to add DNS codes from other sources. Here's how to do it in Leopard:
To add the codes, go to System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply".
In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete.
    Restart Safari.

  • Suddenly can not open pages document

So, I'm faced with a sudden problem. I cant open any pages documents. When I try, there is no error message, the document just does not open. The application itself opens fine, I just can't open any files. When I tried to send the document through gmail, it said that it was zero bytes, so it could not be attached. I am running pages 5.5.2, and osx yosemite. I updated my software within the last two weeks. I don't know when the document was last editied exactly, but I know it was after the updates were made. When I first started trying to open this document, Pages told me there was an update, and I ignored it, thinking that I would do it later. However, I tried to go to the App store to see the update just now, and there was none to be found.

i think if you edit a pages doc on the cloud it wont let you open it with desktop pages - best idea open on the cloud  -then copy text, paste to desktop pages. Its all part of Apples 'problem with computer? - buy a new one' policy i guess, its to force you to upgrade the Os...

  • Safari constantly can't open page

I just got today a new laptop (OS is windows).
I use safari as my favorite browser but, when I installed it I couldn't access any webpage.
I constantly says Safari can’t open the page “url-name” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.
I've tried to install different versions. I've tried to use the program data from my previous pc (where it works fine), resetting safari, but no use.
It also has not to do with proxy settings, I checked it.
But I can access to internet through every other program, Internet explorer, steam, ...
Please help me with this, I NEED SAFARI
thank you for your support everyone

  • My iPad 1 says it's connected to wifi but safari says can't open page cause not connected to the internet

Does anyone know why this is I've tried resetting but doesn't help?

Are you on a home or open network? Sometimes when you're in a hotel, for example, you may be 'on' the net but not allowed to access it until you agree to their terms.

  • I can't open Pages or access any of the documents. I can't even reinstall Pages online. Very unpleasant!!!

I suddenly can't open Pages or access any of my .pages documents. I can't even reinstall Pages online. Very unpleasant!!!

    Hi Peter
    Thanks for your reply
Pages Version 5.1 installed recently online.
I quit Pages 3 days ago with the document I was working on.
I tried to open it today and no way to open Pages. Even rebooting my iMac.
    It seems to be corrupted.
    I cannot even reinstall Pages.
    Thanks for your attention
Hope you will find a reply to my problem

  • Suddenly Can't Open PDFs. Starting about three days ago firefox will no longer open any PDFs. I get a blank page in a new tab.

Suddenly Can't Open PDFs in Firefox. Starting about three days ago firefox will no longer open any PDFs. I get a blank page in a new tab. Nice timing, with finals and everything where I need to view PDFs of practice tests.

Mozilla Firefox did not do their job, here. I am an editor and am constantly online. Now, I have to go to Safari to download PDFs. I reinstalled an earlier version of Firefox to get rid of the problem, but somehow Firefox has deactivated my PDF download feature. This is a total wreck and I am so angry I could spit. Stop launching new products until you have fully tested them. Customers are not your guinea pigs. Please fix this now- and fire a few idiots on the way- the ones who let this happen.

  • Safari can not open page-but I can open manually

my default page is my yahoo page that used to open when I opened a new web page
It was working fine yesterday. I started safari and I get the can't open page message.
I can open it manually but not when I open a new window.
It was working fine and then all of a sudden it did this.
I reset safari and shut down my mac, rebooted, etc. Nothing
    Very very annoying.
    Thanks
    Stephen

Hi everyone, I also had the same problem with connecting to the internet at home, with a brand new iPad, but managed to sort it out today with the help of the Genius Bar staff. I figured it was a router/software issue because wifi/internet was working at my university and at the Apple store. As posted in other threads on this forum, your iPad was probably not assigned an IP address.
I am using an Airport Express 802.11n, and this is connected via ethernet to my modem from my internet provider in Switzerland. It seems the problem is with "Bridge Mode", and my modem won't give out an IP address to my iPad. To fix this, I used the "Share a Public IP address" mode instead of Bridge mode. In Airport Utility, I went to Manual Setup - Internet - Internet Connection tab - Connection Sharing - Share a public IP address.
Then in the DHCP tab, DHCP reservation, I added my iPad to this list. it will ask you for your iPad's MAC number, which you can find in your iPad Settings - General - About - Wifi Address. I did not bother adding my Macbook or iPhone and wifi is still working for them so I think this IP address reservation step might be optional.
For those not using Macs or Airport Utility, unfortunately I am not familiar with setting up routers in the browser, so I can't help you there, but hopefully you get the idea.
Internet now works, but I haven't tried it long enough to know whether I have issues with dropping wifi, but at least the IP address is obtained and I can surf.
    Hope this helps others!!!!!!

  • It's happened twice in the last month- I suddenly can't open my Pages documents unless I get the new version (for $20!) What is going on??!!

Some documents, but not others, that I've created/edited/printed and worked with JUST RECENTLY suddenly won't open UNLESS I get the new version of Pages (for $20!!) I just edited some of these a couple of days ago! I edited one, printed it, etc. Now I need to look at it again and it WON'T open! I "need the new version of Pages??! What if I don't want to suddenly shell out $20 to work with documents I made on the version I already have? And why do SOME documents now look different (in a new style) while others look like they always have, and function normally?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • HT4157 My iPad. Oonnects to other wifi it used to connect to my work wifi but it will. Not connect now what is work I am connected with my iPhone but iPad will. Not connect or it says safari can not open page

I can connect my iPhone to my work wifi but when I try to connect my IPad it will not connect. It says safari can not open page.  What's up with that I have used IPad connected to work wifi before

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • I am getting Safari can not open page. Server stopped responding.  I have tried several things with no luck.  Anyone know what to try?

I am getting message Safari can not open page.  Server stopped responding.  I have tried several suggestions but they have not worked.

This is on an iPad, correct? Are you sure you have a network connection? Is your iPad Wifi or Wifi & 3G? I know these might seem like dumb questions, but we've got to narrow it down to get a solution. If you're absolutely positive you have an active network connection we can move on to other things.

  • Iphone 4 error message while in wifi "safari can not open page because server stopped responding" after iOS6 update

I am currently using my Iphone 4 in wifi networks only after canceling my cell phone plan. Over the weekend I did the IOS6 update on the iphone as well as updated my macbooks itunes and OS X operating systems updates that were available.  Since that my iphone's safara app won't connect.  After it trys to connect for a minute or 2 I recieve the message: "safari can not open page because server stopped responding".  However ALL other apps that require the phone to be connected to wifi for use work properly, i.e app store, imessage, pinger, facebook, etc.  I have checked all network setting and they looked right to me.  Anything I'm missing, ideas to try, or am I sol (lol)?  Safari worked perfectly before the update so I thought I might have done something wrong or forgot to change some type of setting.
    Thank you!

If you can access Facebook while on Wifi at home, but you are unable to access it while away running on your carrier's 2G network, I could phone your carrier.  You have already completed the Cellular Data troubleshooting for the iPhone, so any limitations keeping your from connecting to Facebook over cellular will have to be answered by your carrier.

  • My iPad said safari can not open page server stopped responding

MMy iPad air states safari can not open page. Server stopped responding.
< Personal Information Edited By Host >

That could be exactly what happened. The server could be having a problem or the path to the server is down.

  • I've got macbook pro 10.5.8. Suddenly I can't open Pages. "system error 1409"appeared. What to do?

I can't open Pages on macbookpro 10.5.8. First it said "system error 409" then "file can't be found". What to do?

    1. Are you sure you are using OSX 10.5.8 and not 10.6.8?
    2. Have you searched for Pages using Spotlight (the magnifying glass up on the right of your menubar?
    3. What version of Pages are you using:
Menu > Pages > About Pages
    4. What have you changed?

  • Can't Open Page

it was fine this afternoon as i was still listening to the radio from AOL radio. tonight, when i tried to go online, it says can't open page, safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding!
i tried re-start, re-set, restore, but still the same, all others are still fine but just internet wouldn't work, can anyone please help? thank you

    kjchen69,
Have you tried clearing the Safari cache: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1677 ?
The issue could also just be with the website itself. Have you tried browsing other webpages, like cnn.com for example?
Since AOL Radio is working, it doesn't seem to be an issue with your network connection. However, if AOL Radio or other network services have seemed to stop working, this assistant includes some good steps to try: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/troubleshooting/calls/ . In addition to these steps, resetting network or all settings is also a good steps to try. To do so, just navigate to Settings > General > Reset.
I can see you've tried a restore already; did you trying setting it up as a new phone? If other network apps are working, like AOL Radio, YouTube, or Mail, then setting up as new would be the next best step.
    Hope this helps,
    Raleigh
