Safari suddenly loading all pages VERY slowly
[ Edited by Apple Discussions Moderator; Please start a new topic about your technical issue. ]
Out of the blue, Safari (v2.0.3) has started loading pages extremely slow (between 10 and 30 seconds). I have rest Safari to no avail. I have deleted the icons folder along with the historyplist as well as anothe rplist (I can't remember hich suddenly) as suggested by others on this forum. Still slow. I have shut down and unplugged the mac, unplugged the router and cable modem. Still slow. I have disabled all languages except English. Still slow. I have tested DL and UL speeds. 6099kbps and 350kbps, respectively. I don't know if those speeds are good or not. I don't know what else to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Well, instaed of downloading it, you can look in your package receipts and extract the version iof Safari you are currently running with Pacifist.
Follow the directions and you should be ok, although I don't think there's a whole lot of difference between 2.0.1 and 2.0.3.

My mid 2007 iMac , 10.8.2, Safari 10.6.2, is not loading web pages completely . It also freezes up in Safari with the pinwheel. I get various Safari error messages. What gives?
It seemed to start a few weeks ago or maybe a month or so. after an apple update . i cant say which.
I went to the adobe site and it id'd my 10.8.2 and said my installed player was the most current version. 10.602 i think
There are other issues with other sites. I will keep a note pad next to the comp amd make notes for the next few days and report back,
Thank you for your help.
The imac is five years old, I have updated it to the latest and greatest as offfered by apple. I had one gig of ram, ( dont laugh), i upgraded to two !
I am happy I got five trouble free years out of it.

firefox is loading pages very slowly, most of times saying server not found. Same pages loaded quickly in ie9. Previously FF used to load pages fast.

Thank you for the link, but I am not sure how this is going to help me: I am not booting straight to an X session, but prefer to log into TTY1 and have my login shell handle everything from there.
Here is the relevant part of my .zprofile:
if (( UID )); then
[[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec systemd --user

As far as I understand, your method works if I enable the [email protected] template when actually booting straight to X. -

Try using the Facebook app instead.

My mom's Powerbook is no longer able to load web pages through Safari. Her email works, as does iChat, so it isn't her internet connection. Other users on the same network can load web pages, so it isn't the service provider. I have had her reset safari, as well as remove the preferences file, and the same thing happens (the 'loading' message appears but nothing ever loads).
Any suggestions what to try next?
Thanks!
BrianHI Brian,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache.
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ Move the Cache.db file to the Trash
If that didn't help...
Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins and /Library/Internet Plugins. If there are plugins in either of those folders, move them to a temporary location on the Desktop. With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences and click the Security tab. Make sure Enable Plugins is selected. See if Safari can load web pages. If not, move those files back to the appropriate folder.
Go to /Library/Input Managers. Move any input managers from that folder to the Desktop and relaunch Safari.
Might be a web clip causing the problem. Open Dashboard and remove any web clips.
If she is running Tiger 10.4.11, open System Preferences/Software Updates - Installed Updat4es and make sure she has the 2009-002 Security update installed. If not, download and install it here.
http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_002__Tiger_PPC
If her PowerBookG4 has the original hard drive, 40 or 60GB?, it might be a lack of free disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

Help-Safari wont load any pages-others having same problem
Safari wont load any pages. Tried reinstalling Safari. Nothing. Zip. Notice that people on the Safari for Windows board are having the same problem.
WHAT IS GOING ON? Anyone know?
I get the menu bar, but not Bookmarks, etc. Cannot see a blank page. Cannot open a blank page, BUT my efforts (Untitled and Untitled 2) are reflected in the Dock. A right-click there shows that the pages are open, but obviously invisible.
I really need to fix this.
Firefox works. As do other apps.

EDIT:
The last thing I did before this happened was open a .pps file I got in email. If I do what was suggested in the Safari for Win post where someone is having the same problem: empty the cache, everything becomes greyed out. Its as if everything becomes invisible.
If I click on a link in Apple Mail, the URL shows up in the dock right-click as if it has mounted, but it hasn't. No window. Nothing.

Being connected to 3G does not automatically indicate that a data plan exists on the account or is even set up correctly on the carrier side. -

Safari stopped loading all images! Do I have to reinstall or is there a better fix for this?
Yep. Don't know how programs get the nerve to bug-out on their own, but surfing through the forums gave me the inkling to look further. I had to post the no-brainer since it seemed so painfully obvious!

Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?
Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?
Because it doesn't recognise them as valid addresses - just as the error message says.
Firefox is similar : Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (fhp) isn't associated with any program.
Where are you seeing this problem ?. -
Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Precision 340, Pentium 4, 2GB RAM, two GeForce MX4000 graphics cards, AVG Internet Security 2014. Broadband connection with download speeds up to about 27Mb/s.
I get the same symptoms on a homebuilt system with an almost identical spec.
Internet pages with any graphics at all load very slowly. Reliable websites like BBC News can take at least 30 seconds to open, making Firefox unusable for surfing.
Google Chrome, on the same PC, opens the same pages in about 4 seconds.
Firefox running under Ubuntu Studio 9, on the homebuilt PC, is also fine, so I don't think it's my internet connection.
Firefox 30, on Windows 7 64-bit Professional with Norman Endpoint Security, is fine on my work laptop.
What's slowng down Firefox 30 on my Windows XP machines please?Sorry you are having problems. Thanks for a good descriptive post. There is a testcase; see under; does the globe spin slowly ?

I have FF ver. 5 and for about a week now it is taking way longer than normal to load any and all pages. My OS is Windows 7 & I'm on a dual core processor computer that runs each processor at 3.40 GHz.
I can't play any of my games because of how slow it is running. I'll click on a dropdown menu or something of the like like the "Tool's" menu and it will suck up so I'll have to push on it several more times before it will finally stay open and I can choose something. It also takes much longer for it to close down completely. Start up is running at normal for the most part. Every once in a while it will take a while to load and open. It has also been crashing way more than it ever has before and for no apparent reason.
I've done everything I know to do like clearing cookies and history to no avail. I've even run a virus scan which only came up with some tracking cookies, no viruses or anything like that. I have also done a disk clean up and defragged (which I do every week).
I know about 3 days before this started happening I updated the Java stuff and that's it.
I'm at my wits end as I work on the internet for a living and this is making it very difficult and frustrating to get anything done.

Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1 loads pages very slowly with Windows XP 64 bit version
Our company has purchased Dell Precision T3500 workstations with Intel XEON processor and 6 Gb of RAM. The operating system is Windows XP 64-bit version. The systems came with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1. Each one of these workstations load PDF files into Acrobat very slowly. Does anyone have a answer why?

1. Download the Windows AMD64 Drivers available here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True
2. Extract the files in the archive to somewhere like c:\win64drivers\ethernet
3. Once inside Win XP 64, do the following:
a. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
b. Go down to the "Other Devices" section (they'll have yellow ?'s)
c. Right click on the ethernet controller and click "Update Driver"
d. Click "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
e. Click "Dont search. I will choose the driver to install."
f. Double click the "Network Adapter" entry, and then click "Have Disk..."
g. Select the directory which you extracted the driver files to
i. You will get messages saying that Windows cannot verify that the driver matches your hardware, and that the driver is not WHQL certified. Ignore these and click "Continue"/"Install Anyways" and your RealTek RTL8169/8110 ethernet adapter will spring to life
after i have done this the pc just stops. and if i reboot it stops at the loading screen :/ can you tell me whats wrong i got a k8t neo serie card and windows 64 bit edition

LSP causes firefox to load pages very slowly
I'm a developer for a company that produces content filtering software. Our filtering component is an LSP that monitors network traffic. For some time now, we've been experiencing periodic issues with Firefox and our LSP.
This is not a crash, and Firefox is not frozen. But when you try to load a page, Firefox comes to a point where it just spins trying to access the same socket over and over again. Clearly our LSP is doing something that Firefox doesn't like, but eventually Firefox breaks out of the spinning and loads the page.
I'd like to know if there is someone involved with Firefox development that I can communicate with to resolve this issue.Hi coverton,
I did pm you:
You may not easily see this. Initially I do no want to answer your question on the forum, as an answer may then deter others from replying. This is not something that I understand but my suggestions are:
you say for some time you have had a problem <br>
if this is a Firefox regression which version did it occur on <br>
file a bug on bugzilla https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=dupes|Firefox
<br> or you may in fact find it is a known issue, an example of a bug fixed in Firefox 13 is
<br>Bug 712363 - SSL connections do not work correctly when not managed by the socket transport service (including especially when the socket is not non-blocking)
<br>have a look through the mailing lists and forums you may find a useful one http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/
<br>also consider looking on the various mozillazine forums http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php
This sort of problem is probably slightly outside the range of problems we attempt to solve on this forum.
My view is that basically if the problem clearly does not exist in one version of firefox, but does from a certain later version then there was some sort of change, and if that was not intentional it is a regression and appropriate to file a bug for. <br/> ( If the change was intentional there will almost definitely be a bug filed documenting the change. )
If you do post a bug suggestions would be
* First try it in the latest nightly just in case the problem was fixed. http://nightly.mozilla.org/
*Try to narrow down a regression window,<br/>so please test in Firefox 10 and 11.
*There is a tool for narrowing down regressions by automatically downloading a bissected range of Nightly builds and running them in turn with a dialogue to confirm or otherwise that there is a problem (last time I tried the tool I had a problem with it but it was probably user error, or is now fixed )
** see https://github.com/mozilla/mozregression
Obviously you will need to rule out that it is due to changes in third party software, and to demonstrate the problem you will need some reproducible steps, so it could be appropriate to try discussing the problem on a forum in order to build some sort of test case prior to filing a bug.
As you have asked here it would be useful to know what happens so please post back if you file a bug or find a forum or mailing list that provides a solution.
Good Luck
P.S. <br/> I note you filed '''''Bug 756216 - LSP Causes Firefox to Load pages slowly ''''' -
Safari 5.1.1 running very slowly
Hi, all,
Since updating to 10.7.2 last night I've found that Sarafi is running very slowly, taking up to a minute to fully load a page like the BBC news home page, compared to a few seconds on Firefox on the same machine. According ot the timeline much of the time was spent waiting for or downloading tiny images.
Anyone experiencing the same?
Regards,
Gordon.I spoke too soon. Switching off Extensions improves the problem but does not eliminate it. I'm in the UK, and the odd thing is that UK sites seem to load OK but US ones do not. In particular, I surf a lot of NASA sites. While the pages themselves may load, Safari often gets stuck downloading large images.
As you say, Safari is becoming unusable in such cases, whereas FF breezes through them. Definitely a Safari 5.1.1 issue, I'd say. On the plus side, though, Safari hasn't yet crashed as previous versions of 5 used to.
Thanks for letting us know it's happening to you as well! -
I have a Motorola Surfboard connected to a Airport via ethernet and I am having trouble connecting to the internet using Safari. I have a Powerbook G4 and sometimes it will not load. Where should I begin to look? I have cable tv, and the modem says it's fine, the Airport is showing a green light, but lately it's been acting very funny! Sometimes, I try to connect to Safari, and it says you are not connected to the internet......when I re-load it, I just get a spinning circle. Where should I start? I asked a friend, and he thinks Comcast is "throttling" my connection. He doesn't think it's a hardware issue at all....
As a side note: I just ordered a Time Capsule (2nd gen) and would like to know if it's necessary to upgrade my modem to increase the speed. Will my old Powerbook G4 even be able to connect to it? I am running 10.5.8. My apple tv is somewhat slow too. When watching a podcast, it is very slow to load the podcast. I am kind of confused. Is it the modem, Airport, or my computer!!?? Maybe the airport card IN my laptop is going bad?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out! I can't wait to get my new Time Capsule!Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions
Sometimes DNS codes from an Internet Provider prove somewhat inefficient for Safari 4, creating slow page loading. Usually, this can be remedied by adding other DNS server codes to your Network settings.
To add the codes, go to System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply".
In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete
Now restart Safari.
