Safari switches between http and https infinitely; refuses to load the page and quits

Such problems have not occured with Snow Leopard while opening the same webpage.
Also apple mail quits everytime I get mail from Junk Mailbox manager at my University.
Startup screen freezes approx (1 in 5 times while restarting); dont know what causes it.
Has anyone had similar cascade of problems?? I havent installed any programs after upgrading to Lion!!!!

• I click on a link and It won't automatically load the page; I want to change this setting. HOW??

Hi,
When I ope my mail in gmail. I click on a link to open a new tab and show me what ever it is I've just clicked on....Firefox won't just load the page like it did before I upgraded to this latest version. It says: Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page. and asks me to allow. I allow.
How can I tell firefox that if I have clicked on a link, I want to view it. That seems intuitive enough. I don't want to allow every time. I do this all day~
Thanks,
Melissa

See:
*Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

• After updating firefox today to 6.0, firefox is unable to load multiple tabs at the same time. When I try, firefox refuses to load any pages, and instead is stuck trying to connect to each page.

After I updated firefox to 6.0 today firefox has developed a problem loading multiple tabs. When I try to load 10+ tabs, either at the same time or by opening each tab separately, each tab is stuck trying to connect to the desired page. This continues if I close all the tabs and try to load a single page, the single page is unable to get pass connecting. In order to load a new page when this situation arises I must close down firefox and start again, and the program has no history of the previous session.

• Every single time I go to my Hotmail account(s), Foxfire will load the page and then freeze within a minute or two requiring a whole shutdown of my browswer. HELP!!!

Over the past few months I have been having issues every time that I log onto my Hotmail account. My Foxfire has seemed to be "buggy" for the past three upgrades but now mostly everything is working well. When I log onto one of my Hotmail accounts, I can start to check it and within a minute or two, Foxfire will freeze and I have to Force Quit. To my knowledge, I'm not missing any PlugIns, I have not changed anything in my settings, yet it constantly freezes. I have to Force Quit Foxfire every single time I want to check my email. I really like FoxFire and don't want to go back to Safari - Help!

I get an e-mail through gmail that notifies me that the days comics are available for me to read. I open the e-mail and immediately click on the link that takes me to the site and my page of comics. I shut down the e-mail and only have the site page open. Somewhere about halfway through the list, Firefox crashes. Usually it then gives me that "inform Firefox" notice, but it also just tells me that it has crashed and I have to restart Firefox from the desktop. Rarely, it will let me do a "restore" but, as I say, that is rare - I usually just have to restart Firefox and go back to my e-mail and start all over again. Also, when I am on the site, the icons for going forward or back on the individual comics is not showing, I have to guess which icon is under the pointer.
I have not reset Firefox back to original, as I don't really want to do that, since I seem to always lose important information when I do that. I am using the most current version - 33.02. Even while typing this, FIrefox won't show that dash "-" mark, I just hope it's there.
Also, my bookmarks save(exported) file is 12,924 KB in size, which seems rather large to me. And I do have a large amount of sites saved, so...
Any ideas/help?
Thanks!

• I have Windows XP SP2 and when I load firefox 4 beta 8 it just sits trying to load the page and I have to end up killing the process. What is the problem?

When I start firefox 4 beta 8 I had it set to go to www.google.com. The pages comes up but then Firefox just have the green circle going endlessly and the web site never finishes loading. I restarted firefox 3.6 and it has no problems at all. I tired Chrome and Safari and have no problems using their browsers.

It is not a Firefox problem. It is a BSNL Broadband problem. They are automatically redirecting all users to motive.bsnl.co.in whenever they restart their modem/router.

• Firefox 29.0 still showing spinning wheel icon even though I stopped loading the page and the sign beside URL shows that loading has stopped. Is this a bug?

I have recently updated Firefox to 29.0. I generally keep lot of tabs pinned and whenever I open firefox I stop the unwanted pages from loading. With Firefox even after I stop loading pages, some of them still show the spinning wheel on the tab title. The spinning wheel is shown even though the sign beside the URL shows that the page stopped loading. Though there is technically no problem with this, its annoying to see so many spinning wheels for no reason.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

• Try to open up a website for work and after several minutes of "loading" the page is blank and says done. Have tried with IE, Oprah, and Chrome and all have the same problem

The website is a login for work so I can print off the sheets I need for my job. I can get the site to work during the day but in the evening, it doesn't matter what I do, what browser I use, it always loads a blank page. I have scanned for Trojans, disabled java, turned off the security settings, and nothing works. I have even tried accessing the page through the home page only to have the same problem.

I would recommend you contact the web administrator for the site. He/she would likely be of far better assistance; this is clearly a problem specific to the website, not Firefox.

• Firefox starts up perfectly fine, but when i type in any website it immediety deletes whatever address i typed in and doesnt even attempt to load the page.

So basicly what is happening is when i type in say google.com for example. Firefox pretty much does absolutly nothing except delete google.com from the address bar, and stays on the startup page. And this happens for every website, i cannot get off the startup page because of this. And currently the only web browser that will work right now for me is IE (64-bit). Which is strange because when i try to start any other version of IE it gives me the error that tells me there is no internet connection, when there clearly is. If anyone has had this problem or knows how i can fix this i will be forever in your debt. Also, if this helps I cannot download/install chrome, vuze, torch browser, or ubuntu. Thank you all in advance.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.

• FF goes through periods of refusing to load web pages

Since updating to 7.0.1 yesterday, Firefox has repeatedly gone through periods of obstinancy. It started with brief delays but now is quite persistent.
What happens is that web pages just refuse to load. Any page. FF sits there like it's trying to connect but it never does. Restarting FF can sometimes coax brief connectivity for the saved tabs, but the refusal to load the pages returns nearly immediately.
Eventually, FF gets out of its snit and I can browse normally for a few hours -- but then, apropos of nothing, it goes back to being obstinant.
I'm running Windows XP and CA Security Center firewall. FF was fine until it updated to 7.0.1. Internet Explorer and other Internet programs work fine.

LtPowers - Let's try some standardization. You have ver 7.0.1 so you can go to the App Button, [menu button], Help-> Troubleshoot Information -> Copy all to clipboard, and then open a notepad window - or your favorite text editor - and paste the log there. Look at it and see if it suggests ay answer to you. If not, repost the problem - with the log appended. That way you give notice of hardware and OS, so that users with similar configs, or knowledge, can help. It might be you have too much other stuff loaded for your system's chip memory. If you get to disk caching and swapping, things get really slow. It might be that addons are in conflict with the new version or with each other. That is why the addon listing might help an experienced user to give help. I use XP SP3, and am familiar with the Task Manager window there. It tells me total memory and memory commitment. For instance, now, FF 7.0.1, taking up 805 +/- meg due to the config and large number of windows and tabs open. It says I am using 1.6 Gigabytes of 3.2 [only 2 gig installed memory, the remainder is disk caching, where I can slow way way down if I get there]. I have Chrome open too, several addons, taking memory. I closed Chrome, and it drops to 1.3 gig committed. From experience 400 - 500 meg are take up in system resources, after a bootup with no applications running. So my slowness now is from overstuffing the browser - a problem I had with 3.6 too when I went hog wild on open stuff and addons. If you can check such things on your hardware/software it might help. The big thing, posting a troubleshooting log with the problem is my first helpful idea. Others besides me may read that and have helpful suggestions. Posting the log will also show whether you are disabling addon compatability checking. If you do that - as I do - you are at risk of weird things showing up on upgrading.

• When I switch between "normal" and fullscreen in a youtube video, the video and audio stops for a half second. Any solution?

It is only present in firefox. Did reinstall whole windows 7 also, still have the problem :(

Hello,
This could be related to the graphics card taking some time to display the flash video. Can you please check and confirm if you are seeing this issue when you use the HTML5 player of YouTube. To do that, you can do the following
#visit the HTML5 page of YouTube
#Select the 'Request HTML5 Player' option
#Try viewing the video and see if the issue is happening
#You can switch back to the flash based player by revisiting the page and selecting 'Use the default player'
Please try that and let us know if the issue is recurring or not.
Thank you

Music pauses on my iPhone 5C when switching between apps or when receiving alerts/notifications sometimes (not always) and I have to manually restart the song. I'm running the latest 7.0.1 software. It's a bit annoying.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
