Safari takes a really long time to load pages...

Hi everyone; hope all is well.
I have a rather annoying issue with Safari and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out. I noticed a couple of days ago that Safari often takes a very long time to load pages. I have to continually stop downloading the page and then reload it for it to go the next one. When I do this it often loads the page right away. I'm not sure what this might be all about - Safari usually loads pages very quickly. I've tried emptying caches and resetting Safari, etc. but the problem persists. Can anyone help me out?

Try this:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • Takes a very long time to load pages and is laggy

The new''' FF (4) '''was good at first, but recently it is starting to lack the goodness it once had.
'''It is becoming slower and slower by the day and takes a very long time to load pages. Sometimes the "loading" icon circles for 5 minutes, and whether the page loads or not depends on my luck at that time.'''
Also, it has become seriously '''laggy''':
'''Scrolling''' up and down, typing and '''filling out forms''' (like writing this message) etc have slowed down.
I have deleted the history, and cleared the cache, but to no avail.
Could it be some of the add-ons?
Or is it that FF4 was all hyped up and '''''can't stand to it's name'''''? :)
    Please help.

  • Everytime I open Firefox - it takes a really long time and reopens the Firefox Update tab that says "Choose your Persona" and "More ways to Personalize" tab along with my regular home page tab. Sometimes it tries to load the add ons too and takes a reall

Every time I open Firefox it tries to install the same updates (that I don't want) and the Firefox 3.6 "Choose Your Persona" etc. tab opens along with my home page tab. It takes a really long time to get onto Firefox because of these problems.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Don't remember

Well, this worked on my desktop! But my problem is on my laptop. :-) I'm running XP, but there was no "Username" under Documents and Settings under the C drive. I did a search for those file names and it wasn't there. I found Mozilla Firefox folder under: C\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox. There are 2 - 1 is Mozilla Firefox (shortcut) and the other is Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). I did a Mozilla Firefox search and this is all that showed up.
When I click on the shortcut link (the 1st one), it opens up 2 screens of Firefox. One is the "this is embarrassing" screen. The other is "Choose your Persona" screen. I closed it and reopened and it took me to my home page.

    Do you have current backups?
Those symptoms could indicate a failing Hard drive. If it dies, all your documents go with it unless you have Backups.
I have had very good luck with physical and battery problem diagnosis at the Genius Bar. Those guys put their hands (and their ears) to these machines, all day every day, and they know immediately what all those sounds mean.

  • Bank statement import FF_5 sometimes takes a really long time

    Hello!
In the middle of august we started to have problems with bank statement import FF_5 - sometimes (but not always) it takes a really long time (3 - 4 hours) to import data - usually it would take from few minutes to 1 hour (depending on size of import file). There is no error, the documents that match are posted automatically like always, the amount of documents, that are not posted automatically, is the same as always... We didn't do any new settings in system.
We tried to find cause with debugger and sql trace, but there was no error - the import program works ok, then suddenly it stops in one line and searches in cluster table RFBLG without filled field GJAHR (year) - that means that it searches among approx 7.400.000 records (the size of our RFBLG is appr. 12 Gat the moment).
We don't have ideas any more, how to find a cause for strange behaviour. The problem is, that there is no rule - sometimes it's ok, sometimes it works very slow - no matter how big the import file is. The problem occurs with all bank files (we have 3 banks).
Do you maybe have any suggestions, what to do and how to find and eliminate the cause?
Thankyou in advance for your tips!
    Meti

    Hi Meti,
Have you tried analysing differences between files that it goes slow on and files where it goes quickly?  Sounds like there is some difference in file data that causes it to do a lookup.  If the traecs are not finding the differences, it might be wortwhile to put the file data into Excel for a slow and a fast and compare field level data?
    Regards,
    Tony

  • It takes CS6 a really long time to load files, but it didn't use to

    Hello,
I have CS6 64bit on a reasonably up to date windows 7 system. Just checked for CS6 upgrades 7/14/13, and have the latest version (13.0.1.2).
Things have been working fine since I installed the product about a month ago.
At some point something went wrong and it now takes 30 seconds or more to load a file via "file>open..."
It also takes 30 or more second just for photomerge to display the file dialog from "file>automate>photomerge..."
All other photo s/w I have loads raw files, tifs, jpegs, etc... very quickly. This is CS6 specific.
I disabled loading of plugins, didn't help (CS6 starts quickly enough, just not so much file loading).
Anyone out there have any suggestions?
    Is this a known issue?
    Thanks,
    Mark

DId you install anything else on your system around that time?
    Maybe a font manager utility?
If it is just slow to show the File Open dialog - then you need to look at the OS, since that is just an OS dialog that Photoshop calls.

  • XFCE takes a really long time to start

I've had it start on this laptop way faster before, but somehow I did something to it to really slow down its boot.  You know the default startup splash, how it has a pulsing mouse?  It used to start in 1 or 2 pulses, now it takes like 7 or 8.  Is it trying to connect to samba shares or something?

Sounds silly have you got localhost in /etc/hosts
    /etc/hosts example
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    # End of file

  • IPhone 4S (Sprint) takes a really long time to send messages

    Hello all,
I have a 16GB iPhone 4S that I purchased on launch day, and lately it's been giving me problems, mostly having to do with text messaging. If I send a message, it sometimes goes through instantly, or it sometimes will take upwards of 5 minutes to send. Sometimes it refuses to send until I unlock the phone (if I've locked it while the message is sending). These problems seem to be intermittent, and iMessage seems to be unaffected (all my iMessages go through instantly).
I'm running 5.0.1, and I've done everything I can think of (deleting all messages, resetting network settings, restoring). I don't think it's a network problem, because some 4S-toting friends who are on the same network aren't having problems either.

Window menu -> Activity menuitem will give you all the background processes of Mail, and should give you an idea what is hanging its processes.
Mail can especially get tied up if Spotlight or Time Machine are trying to redo their indices.

  • After updating to 6.0.2 firefox now takes a really long time to open a window after starting the program

Was prompted to update firefox. Did so, appeared to install correctly.
Now when I open firefox it takes over a minute to open a new window.

Common problem with other complaints under "stall", "freeze", and "hang". Try clicking the refresh button every 5 seconds until the page loads (usually second, third, or fourth try) instead of waiting.
Maybe it will be fixed in FF7. Mozilla is simply not addressing the problem.

First try a utility like YASU or Cocktail to clean up caches and logs as well as basic disk maintenance.

  • Trying to run an install to update to Firefox 3.6.16 but Software Update is not making any apparent progress past "Connecting to the update server". Just keeps running... Is this a problem or does the update just take a really long time?

My computer's current version of Firefox is 3.6.13; clicked on Software Update and received an "strong suggestion" to download the newest version 3.6.16. Clicked to update and now "Downloading Update" has been showing "Connecting to the update server..." for 10+ minutes.

    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.
