Safari trouble with one particular site

I have a problem with safari when I use one particular website (www.itsagoal.com)
I've noticed that it is the website in particular that may be at fault. The website is www.itsagoal.com and what happens is that the built in clock for that website goes mentally fast. Although I noticed this issue before under 10.4.5, it was never a problem. It didn't affect scrolling, or the fans or anything. It was purely just an asthetic bug. However, now, under 10.4.8 (using safari I must add) it really is a problem.
Everything is fine at the site, until you enter a forum thread. Then the time goes crazy. You can do this without needing to login, here http://www.itsagoal.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?id=9D9B62088B9CBF508BBBAB 0785D7BA4F
Could somebody please visit those pages and confirm a few things for me.
1. That the time (which is top left of the screen) is fine on any non forum page.
2. That the time does indeed go crazy.
3. Are there any experts amongst you that have seen this before and perhaps know what the problem is with the site?
Many thanks
iLee
p.s. How do I go about debugging this myself so that I can let the developer of the site know whats happening?
Edit: In firefox (and Camino), the time only updates when changing pages and is not a problem at all.

Hi iLee
yes, the clock runs fast for me too using Safari.
What actual problems does it cause you?
If you enable the Debug menu via Terminal or some third part utility. Then use the User-Agent menu item & set it to "MSIE6" ....... this tells the webpage we're using Internet Explorer 6; and seems enough to get the clock behaving normally. Works for me.

  • Problems with one particular site

    Hi all,
I've noticed various posts where people mention they can't get on one specific website and I've always wondered why that could be, but it's never happened to me ... till now.
I can't get on this one, www.beestonlightingcompany.co.uk (and .com) who is one of my new clients. I've tried everything I can think of, I've emptied caches and cookies, I've deleted prefs, rebuilt permissions, reset my modem and router (even tried direct to the modem, no router) released and refreshed my DHCP connection - the lot. No joy.
The fact that I can't see the site on either of my Macs in any browser (Safari, Opera, Netscape, Explorer, Firefox, etc.,) seems to suggest to me there's either a system thing happening here or something up with my router, though like I said even taking that out of the loop didn't help.
Also all the other clients I have websites for are hosted at the same place and I can see those fine. I can also ping beestonlightingcompany with no trouble and I can get to it using CaptainFTP for uploading. And my client can see the site at both addresses using his PC - fortunately, be a big problem if he couldn't! I suspect anyone here who tries it will get to it too ... it's just me. Wierd.
Any ideas anyone? This is really bugging me!

    Thing --
That site works fine for me.
So, maybe try these and get back to us, OK?
Have you done these? Do these one at a time, and then restart and retest Safari after each one.
    1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
    2. Trash your Icons Folder:
    HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
    3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
    If you're still having problems:
    4. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.
Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.
    Hope this helps

  • Problems with one particular website in Safari on iPhone

Forgive my ignorance; I am fairly clueless when it comes to technical issues.
I am having trouble using one particular website from my iPhone. On this one particular website, only the text of the site is rendering in Safari. The navigation, images, and headers of the site are completely missing.
I've tried to access the website in Safari from my coworker's Mac and it's fine. I can also access it with no problems on any other computers or browsers that I've tried. Every other site works fine on the iPhone except for this one particular website.
I made sure that my iPhone software was the latest version, and I reset the phone just to make sure, but that one website still isn't working. I contacted the webmaster who says he sees no problem on their end.
Any ideas what could be going wrong?

No, the site isn't Flash-based; it's a site I've visited on the phone dozens of times. This problem only started occurring a few days ago.
I'm embarrassed to admit that the site is Popsugar.com, a celeb gossip site that I visit whenever I'm bored.

  • Video in Safari not playing -- one specific site only!

I'm having a frustrating time trying to troubleshoot a problem with video content in Safari 5.1 on one particular site -- www.cleveland.com. The problem also occurred in Safari 5.0, but it's a recent thing -- video content on the site worked fine until about three weeks ago. I cannot recall installing an extention or anythning like that, but there may have been a system upgrade in there somewhere (maybe from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8?).
What I get is a blank black box where the video should be playing. Video on all other sites works fine. The cleveland.com video uses a pop-up window for playing, and that window appears whether the built-in Safari pop-up blocker is on or off. The new window/player pops up, and there is content in that window, but the video box remains black.
I've searched discussions here and at Adobe, reinstalled the Flash player, uninstalled, reset permissions, reset the developer web agent, turned hardware accelleration on and off, etc. -- a ton of solutions have been presented to fix the black screen of Flash, but none of them have solved my problems with this site.
BTW, I get the exact same result in Firefox and Chrome. So it's something at the site or my system, right? I have asked the tech folks at the site, and they are not helpful. But they at least confirmed it is Flash content.
Does anyone see something I am missing, or have other solutions to try?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jonathan
    Mac 10.6.8, Intel, Safari 5.1

I'm having this same problem. On mobile websites before 3.0 update in safari, you would click to watch a video and it would open video viewer and i could watch them fine.
Now you click on a video to watch and a bunch of random text starts showing on the screen, like it's trying to stream the video - but the ipod touch doesn't know what to do.

  • Using 3.6.23. When i upgrade, trouble with Lloyds tsb site.

Using 3.6.23. When i upgrade, trouble with Lloyds tsb site. One of my accounts has code like>br all over it. Also when i want to access a specific account it logs me out. Cannot upgrade as cannot use internet banking. Any ideas? edit

After I loaded 5.5, then removed it and loaded 3.6 again, I had no problems.
Then my hard drive died and I installed a new one.
Then I downloaded ONLY 3.6 since I already knew I didn't like the changes that 5.5 had made and the kinks hadn't been ironed out. That was in July.
The hesitation problem started recently, toward the end of Sept. I have wireless cable modem that runs 36-54 mbps but in Sept/Oct I was visiting family and distance from their router sometimes meant running at 12 or 24. I thought the hesitation/lagging was due to that. BUT
Since coming home in mid Oct., although nothing about my home connection has changed, I am finding this lagging/not responding/hesitation problem continues AS IF the connection were slow but router/modem/internet connection are all intact.
This is what made me wonder if anyone else is experiencing this/reporting it to Firefox. Apparently not.

  • Safari trouble with Flash Websites

Hi, I am having trouble using a particular
Flash website online that I am developing
Using Safari v. 2.0 on a Mac running Tiger 10.4.2
I am able to access the homepage of this site
    http://www.sweetybomb.com
but I am unable to load any of the buttons (about - music - etc.)
I understand that this may be a Macromedia Flash issue, but
the odd thing is that this site works fine in all other Browsers
    (Opera, Explorer, etc.)
Every once in awhile, the site works (I can load content, use buttons)
but 99% of the time, Safari stalls on the homepage which is odd
because the file sizes of the Flash movies are low (at least in the opening part)
Anyhow, just seeing if there are some Apple/Safari things that
I could troubleshoot on that end of things
    Thank you

I have talked with Apple several times
via my Apple Care and they insist it's
something on the Flash end of things
Thanks for your response and if you
have any advice I would be happy to
    hear it
    cheers

  • Problem with a particular site

Why won't this thing (Jetpack 5510L) get into this site?
    http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5
This is the Lockheed Martin flight simulator site, it just takes forever to resolve the connection (if it ever does at all) and it's like molasses in January loading the pages once it does. Why? I don't have this problem with other sites?
    Thanks,
    Jim

I appreciate your replies guys. I tried the network-tools site and it blew right in instantly with a tracert of 9 hops. I then popped open a command window and ran a tracert from my own machine through the hotspot and it took 19 hops. What I noticed is that all the IPs are different when I run the tracert from the hotspot, look here:
    Tracert run from network-tools site:

So I'm assuming the difference in those IPs are the problem, what is that about and why does the hotspot mask the IPs like that where the network-tools site doesn't? I guess given that Lockheed Martin is the world's largest defense contractor and it's probably vital to national security that their site be secure it would stand to reason that they might be using security techniques that most sites don't use. I spend a lot of time on flight simulator forums (I am an FS developer and also on the beta team for the Prepar3D sim) and someone usually throws up a post about it somewhere whenever there's a problem with one of the major FS sites. Avsim.net for example is always flakey and there are usually 2 or 3 threads a month on the various forums where someone is complaining about it. I can't remember ever seeing a thread about the Prepar3D site so I can only assume I'm the only one who has problems with it. Further it seems like once I finally get in I can usually surf around the forum without much trouble, it's like once the initial connection has finally broken through then data is allowed to flow almost normally.
I tried disabling IPv6 although I'm not sure if I did it right, I found it under Settings > LAN in the jetpack admin page. Is that the right setting? It rebooted the hotspot when I unticked the box but it didn't seem to change anything with regard to getting into the Prepar3D site so I put it back. Maybe I changed the wrong setting?
BTW I usually run the hotspot in "EDVO only" mode since it just seems to work better than "Automatic (4G LTE, CDMA) which was the default. Where I live I've seen 4G service only two or three times in the 3 years I've been on Verizon, those were all back when I was using the Samsung SCH-LC11 hotspot, I've never seen 4G (here) with this MiFi unit. I don't really have a problem with that as it's not advertised as a 4G service area according to the coverage map and in general the MiFi device has been quite a bit more reliable than the Samsung was. I have had the MiFi connected to my sister's laptop in town 5 blocks from the cell tower and seen 4G downloads at 3 MB/sec.
    Thanks again for your replies.

  • IPod refuses to sync with one particular movie. . .

After attempting to troubleshoot myself for the past 2 days, I'm hoping someone on these forums can help me.
I have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch and recently purchased a new movie that I've been attempting to move onto my iPod. It is only with this particular movie that a dialogue box appears towards the end of the sync announcing something to the effect of ". . .The disk could not be read from or written to".
While the movie was downloading off of iTunes, my laptop battery died and I was unable to plug it back in until a couple hours later. But the movie started downloading again, so I didn't think it would cause problems.
I've found this site: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1539 as well as this one: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207 and have done everything I can short of deleting the file and reloading it. But I'm unsure if I can download it again without being charged again. Any help would be appreciated, and I apologize for the length. But this is really frustrating me.

It must be hardware related because I tried to sync it using Windows 7 on the same computer and got the same results, timed out sync, could not read from or write to iPod.
If anyone knows what I should be doing now or what is causing it because I don't have a clue as I don't have any problems with any other USB devices.

  • Network problem with one particular iMac in a home network

I want to report a problem involving one particular iMac (2008 Al 24").
On my home network (Apple Airport Extreme and Express extensions, about five Macs and couple of iDevices), all other Macs can see and connect to each other as well as printing to the networked Brother printer without problem.
However, on one particular iMac, I can see all other Macs, can set Brother printer as default with green dot next to it in Print Preference Pane, but I can not connect to other macs, nor print to the printer. Meanwhile, the iMac can get on the internet without any problem. I checked Share Preference Pane and all settings are same as other macs.
The iMac used to work flawlessly until recently, and I first noticed the problem because I could not print, getting a message the printer can not be found (and the dots turn yellow for a while then went back to normal green). Then, I found neither the iMac, nor other macs on the network can connect to each other, even though I can see all of them in Finder.
I opened Apple Remote Network on my own mac, and I can see and connect all other shared macs, but this iMac's status showed not online, even though the IP adress is valid. As a results, no other macs can connect to the iMac, either. It seems to be a problem with the intranet only, not internet.
One more thing, about a month ago, the iMac popped out a warning about network name, saying the old name was in use (conflict) in the network, so I have to change it in Share Pane. Not sure if this is related to the intranet problem.
Reboot and repaired permission several times, no change. Hate to reinstall everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Another update:
For unknown reason, my iMac was suddenly back onto the home "intranet". It can be accessed by my MacBook Air through Finder Connect, and can also be seen by Apple Remote Desktop.
However, printing is still a problem while other macs have no problem printing to the same printer. Whenever I send a print task, either Word document, or other programs such as GraphicConverter image, the iMac tried to connect to the default printer, but failed, and wanted to try again in 30 seconds 9and continued to fail). Meanwhile, the green dot next to the printer selection turned to yellow in Preference Pane. But as soon as I cancel the print job, the printer status went back to normal green.
The printer is a Brother color laser HL-4070CDW, connected through wireless (g only), with it own DHCP but specific IP address. I printed out a setting for the printer and all looks normal, and all other macs can print to it without problem. Other macs can also get access to the printer profile, and check inks copy counts, etc, but the iMac cannot.
Only thing changed since last post was a new update for Apple Airport firmware (to 7.5.2 I think). So my problem is still half solved: can connect to other macs on the same network, but still not be able to print.

  • MBP having problems with one particular wireless network

My MBP keeps dropping the wireless connection (or failing to find it in the first place) at one particular house. Unfortunately it's a house where I stay a lot. It tells me I'm not connected to the internet and times out any attempted connections. Sometimes it will connect for between 5 minutes and an hour, but then it loses connection again.
When it loses connection the other devices in the house (a Blackberry, iphone and someone elses Mac) all stay connected with no problem. I have never had problems in any other house or with any other connection.
The wireless has a WAP (or WAP 2) password. I have tried resetting and rebooting the modem, the router and the access point, getting Airport to learn or not learn the network, turning airport off and on and all the other usual options (for a clueless muppet like me) and sometimes I can connect again, sometimes not, but the connection is never permanent.
Any ideas please? Thanks very much
I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.7 if that is relevant

Sorry for being so clueless but I'm not sure of the answer to the first two questions. How do I find out?
There is nothing in my network preferences about protocol, but under "About this Mac" I found the following:
    Supported PHY Modes:          802.11 a/b/g/n
There is nothing else nearby competing for radio frequencies - just the other devices mentioned all using the smae wireless signal.
Thanks so much for your help, and sorry that all the technical terms are so lost on me!

  • Anybody having intermittent trouble with Godaddy webmail site?

About every other time I log in to the webmail account I have with Godaddy, the site is frozen, incomplete download, curser will not work, can only log back out. All other websites work properly. Firefox is the only browser I have been using up till now. Does Firefox not support the STMP webmail accounts very well?

i think everyone is over thinking this question i have.... i create a movie in final cut, i notice final cut uses .mov file extensions. my godaddy web site i use, its a pre made template site i use, i have created a page that allowys me to insert video, when i insert the video to the designated area its says godaddy does not allow .mov only uses mpeg, avi, wmv, mpg my question is when creating a project in final cut and it gives you a .mov extension and you need it to be mpeg, avi, wmv, mpg so that it can play on something requiring that, what would you recommend? the site only allowys the file to be 30mb so whatever compression i use, it needs to be able to make the file size to that...h.264 with one pass gets the file size right but again i am understanding the compression aspect but not the file type. i have inserted several files with mpeg extensions that were not created in final cut and they all work fine. I am not getting the web site to recognize the . mov. if you got the prompt can not use .mov must be mpeg, avi, wmv, mpg what would you do.... i have my project in final cut so you can walk me through it as if you had a open project in final cut. i assume it should go step 1. export to: ? and then adjust the different settings ? i noticed that final cut has some mpeg options, and i tried them but it didnt make the files small enough 30mb. is this a matter of converting my file to one that will work or am i needing to export it in a specific manner. Again i have successfully got multiple videos to work that have mpeg extension that were not created in final cut.

  • Dictionary has trouble with one of its fonts... How to solve?

    Hi everyone,
My problem is the following: the OS X Dictionary app has severe trouble displaying one of the fonts it uses, I assume it should be Baskerville Italic (Bold Italic gets displayed correctly). See the following screenshot:
I have pretty much tried everything: resetting system fonts via Font Book, manually de- and reactivating the fonts Dictionary uses (Baskerville, Helvetica Neue, and Hiragino Mincho Pro W3; they're all active now) and checking whether I have other fonts that OS X could possibly confuse with one of the system fonts (I have a large font library with many duplicates from art school). Nothing helped.
Anybody had a similar problem and found a solution for this?
On a related, but less important note: when I reset all system fonts with Font Book (which should throw all fonts that are not included in OSX in a separate folder and deactivate them, as far as I understood it), nothing happened, except that he told me all my system fonts are fine. Could it be that installing new versions of OSX over older ones confuses the system about which are system fonts and which aren't?
And: I cannot find Baskerville in the system font folder at /System/Library/Fonts. Isn't it supposed to be there if Dictionary uses it?
    Thanks for any help!

In addition to those I had separate font files called e.g. "Cyrillic A Upright", "Greek Inclined" etc. that would apparently only include the respective character sets (counting around 200-250 characters each). These are the ones I deactivated entirely
Thanks for the explanation!  Those separate font files are what I meant by "junk", but that is not really a good term in this case, they are just using a non-standard encoding which is potentially incompatible with the Unicode standard used by OS X.  Lion's expanded Baskerville is the Unicode replacement for them.
It is quite common for OS X to get confused by fonts like that which map symbols to Latin instead of their correct Unicode assignments.  Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic have caused similar problems for many users in the past.

  • We have a dolphin 7.0.7 web site. Having trouble with one pop-up.

We have simple messenger with video chat on our site.
We have a dolphin 7.0.7 web site. After firefox updated 3 days ago we have a pop up for the simple messenger that shows when you've invited a member to private chat. This still works in other browsers, just not firefox. We have tried allowing all pop ups but still nothing. Help!

Not sure why it would default to IMAP?  But any how, start the account anew, fill in the first page of info, but before clicking on the Create button, hold down the Option key until the Create button changes to read Continue.  Click continue, and proceed in a more manual process during which you can set the account type as POP.
