Safari using find command (not on google)

Usually, I use the command to find some words on a long webpage - keyboard: command Apple + F (Find).
The "Finder" showed me the word that it found. But, the problem is that it appears a blue highlight on the word which does 'not appear' on the webpage because the color in the background is also blue. Is there a way for me to change the color highlight like bright yellow?
For example: type a word "introduce" on find. Use this website to find the word - http://www.artkunst.net/forum

Hi Jeff,
Goto your website, Press (apple+f) , type "Introduction" then (apple+f) a second time and the background will turn grey highlighting the word.
Cheers.

iSafari does not start up due to an error caused by plug in librooksbas.dylib.
How can I remove this plugin without opening safari. Finder does not find the file, nor any other plugin.

For future reference, Safari Plugins are kept in Macintosh HD> Library> Internet Plugins.
To unhide the Library folder, open up Terminal (just type"Terminal" into spotlight) and type:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library

  • Using Find Command

    Help
If anybody can try this and tell me how it works I would be forever grateful.
I can not seem to get the FIND command to find timecodes
of clips in a sequence. I have copied all my clips from my bin and pasted them into a new sequence I'll name search, then I use the find command to locate a specific TC. this yields no results everytime!
It works for Names/Markers not for time code!
    I am using FCP 4.5.
I really need this to work.

Thanks for the welcome & the reponses.
The reason I am searching this way is because when
you search in the bin it doesn't enter the colons
for timecode like it does when you search a sequence.
It does however at least WORK in the search bin mode!
I wish it I could enter TC the same way as a sequence it is soo much faster
If anybody has a inside track to Apples FCP code developers maybe they could put in the next upgrade.

  • Adobe Reader XI crashes when using find (command F)

I have a Mac with intel 10.9 and Adobe crashes everytime I use find. I get the pinwheel loading symbol and then Adobe ALWAYS crashes. Is there a way I can fix this?

This problem has not been addressed for a long time.  Every time it happened, I reported it.  Each time I had to start activity monitor and force quit Adobe reader.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader and the problem persisted
    I did find a bypass.
    Open the Applications folder
    Select Adobe Reader
Right click and move Adobe Reader to Trash
Find a PDF file in the finder and double click.
The PDF file will open in Preview and the Find command will work.
I will check back periodically to see if Adobe had fixed the problem.  So far I have not found any feature unique to Adobe Reader that I cannot live without

  • Find command not working

I'm using Adobe Reader X and the find command is not finding words that I know are in the document. (It's also not working with Adobe Acrobat X.) It's not a scanned document and when I try with Adobe Reader 8 on another computer, it finds the words without any problem. Advanced Search also doesn't work.

Make sure you update to the latest version of both Reader and Acrobat.

  • Tiger - Trouble Using Find Command

    Using Tiger 10.3.9...
When I go to the desktop and click command - F and the find command opens
    - a click on the "others" tab and choose the hard drive I want to search in
    - and to get rid of all the other criteria and choose: name - contains & the keyword I am looking for... Then I hit return ...
Very often it will not find something that I know is there... Just to prove this I will load the great program "easyfind 3.9" ... And it finds what Apple could not find it in just a few seconds...
Q: Why is this happening... How can I fix this? Is it an Apple bug?
BTW: spotlight does not have anything in the privacy area to block this...

The Spotlight database, it's index of stuff, is hidden. REALLY hidden--not only is in a dot folder (.Spotlight-V100) at the root level of your drive, which makes it invisible to the Finder--but you can't open it even if you are the admin of your computer and use the Terminal. You can see it in Terminal with a list all command:
    ls -a /
If you then try to see inside you get a "Permission denied" reply:
    Tiger:~ francine$ ls -a /.Spotlight-V100/
    ls: : Permission denied
You have to become the super user (equivalent of root) to even list the contents of the folder:
    Tiger:~ francine$ sudo ls -a /.Spotlight-V100/
    total 190816
    .journalHistoryLog
    .store.db
    ContentIndex.db
    _exclusions.plist
    _rules.plist
    store.db
The ContentIndex.db is the database of file contents, the store.db has the index of the metadata of each file. Don't know why there is both a store.db and a .store.db, no doubt Dr. Smoke would.

  • Find Command not working in some PDF documents

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I recently downloaded Acrobate XI. I attempted to use the FIND command in a recently downloaded document and it searches the entire document, never finds the word I was looking for. I opened a PDF I downloaded last week and the FIND command worked appropriately. Can anyone help me solve this problem? it is very frustrating.

Is it the same document where Find worked earlier, but not now?
Note that Find can only work on text documents; it does not work with scanned documents, unless Acrobat has performed text recognition on the scanned image.

  • Find Command not working on non-boot drives

When executing a find (command f) in the finder, it appears the find does not work on any non-boot drive.
For example, in my Mac Pro (10.5.6), the find command works fine for the boot device, but when selecting another internal drive or a connected server in the resulting finder window, the find never returns any results, even if I search for a known file.
I have checked my Spotlight preferences and nothing has been excluded in the Privacy tab. (Isn't Find different from spotlight, anyway?)
Very confusing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'm not using Leopard but on Tiger there's a bunch of buttons in the Find window to select where to search.
    Also try EasyFind application.

  • Find Command Not Searching System Folders

This seems like a tough question to answer but I cannot find a way to use the Finder's "Find" command to find files in the User/Library/ folder (ie: looking for specific preference files) or any other System folder for that matter.
I was trying to find a certain ".plist" file using the "Find" command but even typing the exact, full name of the ".plist" file directly into the search box still wouldn't bring up a result in the list. I had to manually go into the Preferences folder and locate the file.
Is this a limitation of the Finder's "Find" command or is there some way I can "tell" it to look in all the System folders?
    Thanks so much,
    Gerard

Also, see http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/Leopard/leospot.html and my mod to Finder's Find at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6725932 for what you can change so you can find stuff excluded by the default structure.

  • Find command not highlighting all search results

    Hi,
Acrobat Pro 9, Mac OS 10.6.8
This seems to be a fairly recent problem.
When I do a search -- using the Find command -- of a PDF document for a particular word, Acrobat in some cases places the cursor to the right of the word while in other cases it highlights the word with a blue color. How can I get the program to find and color highlight all instances of the search term?
    Thanks in advance,
    trmartin

  • Finder commands not working

I have a friend with a very strange problem.
    Macbook Pro, 10.4.11
She was having trouble with Abode Creative Suite printing and crashin, reinstalled this, no change, so she did an archive and install.
After this, the macbook will bookt, get to the password login screen, accept her password, and the desktop mounts, with the dock.
Here is the weird part. No Macintosh HD on the desktop, CDs will not show up, nor will USB drives. I cannot open an new finder window using Command N, I cannot get most of the finder menu commands to work. Recent Applications will start and run programs just fine. System preferences will open and I can make changes, including running software update to get her up to 10.4.11.
It seems like perhaps her user account no longer has permission to do anything finder related?
A new user account has exactly the same issues.
Booted from the system CD and ran disk util and disk permissions. Both were successful and okay.
I can mount the drive on another mac in firewire mode, and everything looks fine, data in place, app folder present and full of stuff.
    Any suggestions?
    mark

No luck with removing these preferences.
As I work this more, it seems pretty clear that the finder as a software program is not working. Nothing under the Finder, file, edit, view, go, window, help menu will work.
Menu choice under the Apple will work fine.
The hard drive or other mountable items do not work. Although if I plug in my USB drive, the lights go awhile, it does not mount. But when I pull it out, I get the rude "device moved improperly" message.
I have made a backup of the user files via firewire, I am thinking that I can do a reinstall with the Install feature, but not the archive feature. This should give me a new system and user folder. The applications stay in place?

  • [SOLVED]find command not working correctly new version of findutils...

After upgrading my findutils from 4.2.33-1 to 4.4.0-1, it is not working the way it used to. I downgraded to the old one and it is working fine again. However, I am wondering why the newer version can't do what I want it to...
Typically I run the following script to apply mp3gain to my music collection (albums and individual songs):
    #!/bin/bash
    echo Albums...
    find . -mindepth 3 -iname '*.mp3' -execdir mp3gain -k -a {} +
    echo Single tracks...
    find . -maxdepth 2 -iname '*.mp3' -exec mp3gain -k -r {} +
On the old version, for the albums, the "find" function works as expected by examining the entire album before applying gain. With the new findutils version, the albums are being analysed song-by-song. I suppose since the new version of findutils, there is just a different method to do what I wanted before with -execdir. Does anyone know how to do it on the new version?

Cool. Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up going with...
    #!/bin/bash
    echo Albums...
    for album in */*
    do
    cd "$album" > /dev/null 2>&1
    if [ $? = 0 ]
    then
    mp3gain -k -a *.mp3
    cd ..
    cd ..
    fi
    done
    echo Single tracks...
    find . -maxdepth 2 -iname '*.mp3' -exec mp3gain -k -r {} +
    exit 0

  • Using Finder search not displaying file names

I'm running 10.6.4 and searching from the finder on an Xserve for a file name 00035.png but it's not showing in the results.
    Any ideas?

To clarify your question, when you perform the file search through finder, at the bottom of the window is there a place where it says "x items" and is the number shown there greater than zero?
I am having trouble understanding if your search is returning results but they aren't being displayed, or if you're searching for a file you know is on your drive, but it's not being identified.

  • How to use Find option not Filter in my webdynpro app

    Hi,
I have a table which displays data extracted from R/3 System.
Now if i want to see a particular number record how to do that with out using Right and Left arrows of table.
Here i tried by using filters..but i want to enter the record Number not the data of the record.
Can anyone please let me know how to do this...
    Thanks and regards,
    Chandrashekar.

    Hi,
Add a search button to your table toolbar. Onclick of that you can take the user to the specified record entered in the input field. Add this inputField also to your toolbar.
Add the following lines of code to your search button event:
    if(wdContext.nodeSearchRec().currentSearchRecElement().getSearch() == null){
              wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Please enter a record Id",false);
    else {
    int leadSelect = wdContext.nodeSearchRec().currentSearchRecElement().getSearch();
    wdContext.nodeEmployee.setLeadSelection(leadSelect);
where node SearchRec.Search is the attribute bound to your search inputField.
And nodeEmployee is the datasource of your table.
If you have any further queries, you can come back to me.
    thanks & regrads,
    Manoj

  • The old "sleep using keyboard commands" not working issue is back again

All the way through Leopard the keyboard shortcut for "sleep" wasn't working.
Then in SL it started working again.
Now in 10.6.7 it isn't again.
    All constructive suggestions welcome.

I have exactly the same trouble that Tom has (or had?)
I get this in Console, endlessly repeated. I have the slim aluminium keyboard plugged into USB and the mouse is plugged into the USB on the keyboard. It does not make any difference if anything else is connected to the Mac or disconnected - hard drive, printer etc.
