Safari will not allow me to login to ebay ??

Today i updated my software (Jaguar) to Tiger 10.4.11 as well as all of the software updates from apple. Since i have done this, i can no longer use Safari and Ebay, either for searching or selling ? Everytime i try to login, i enter my name and password and the screen flashes briefly, looks like it's going to work, and then refreshes a blank login page again. I was able to login and get to "my Ebay" after a restart of safari, but as soon as i click on "buy" to search for an item, i am immediately logged out.
I have just spent the last 5 hours trying every fix that anyone has suggested online, but so far, nothing has worked.. except, using the developer menu and changing the user agent to "firefox windows" did help for awhile but still wasn't a complete success .. and it seems strange that i would need to do this.
If anyone has any ideas for me, i would love to hear them. I have always liked Safari .. and i would prefer a fix to a complete switch over to firefox. I do really like Firefox, but i've had some troubles with using it with ebay as well.

I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses). For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files. To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties. On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white. Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected. Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12). See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

Safari will not allow attachments to be sent in webmail

Recently, (since upgrading to 10.4.4, I believe - but am not positive) I have found that Safari will not allow me to send mail with attachments during any form of webmail. . .either Mail in .Mac, Yahoo, or my workplace's Microsoft Exchange mail. When I attempt to attach a file, I get the following message from Safari (as an example; this is for Yahoo):
Safari can’t open the page “http://attach.mud.mail.yahoo.com/us.f352.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Attachments?YY=54979”. The error was: “POSIX error: Invalid argument” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:22) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
Firefox and Camino can send attachments with no trouble. Any fixes for Safari for this problem?

The first thing I would try is to clear Safari's cache (Safari > Empty Cache).

Safari will not allow typing in search field

Installed Lion ok. Now safari will not allow typing in the search field, Turned extensions off, same issue. Selected different search engines, same issue. It did work for a while. Can't figure it out. Thanks

Looks like my error. I was trying to select the search engine and type over it. You can just type and it goes away. Sorry for the post.

Safari will not load my hotmail login...

I run a Powerbook G4. I my default browser is Safari 1.3.2. v312.6. All of the sudden the Hotmail login page will not open. When this first happened, I tried opening it with my IE for Mac and had the same problem. Other sites worked fine. I contacted Hotmail support, and tried their suggestions including resetting Safari, clearing history and cookies, trying to access the site from other links to no avail. They insist it is a browser issue because my account can be accessed from other computers. However, I find it odd that both IE and Safari all of the sudden will not load that page. They could not offer any suggestions regarding Safari, so I wonder if anyone here might be able to help. I am desperate! I am looking for a job and can't get to my email!

I see the same problem in Firefox & Camino & (less so) Opera on Mac too, so I don't think it's Safari related.
Even downloading an image from in Terminal often gives a curl: (18) transfer closed error; points to a problem at the server.

PROBLEM
I can boot up and login to my laptop - no problem. I have my login set up so that my user name appears and all I have to do is type my password.
The problem is when I try to wake my computer or disconnect it from my thunderbolt display. Sometimes, (more frequently as of late) when I wake my computer or disconnect it from my thunderbolt display my computer will revert back to a dark gray login screen and prompt me to put in my user name and password (First of all the login screen that comes up is different than the one that comes up when i boot up the laptop because it requests me to type in my user name). - once I type in my user name and password it will not let me log in. It will clear both the username and password fields and sit at this screen. At this point I am forced to restart my laptop and log back in. I never have any problems restarting and loging in right after booting up.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I do not think it is normal for it to just revert to the login screen and then not even accept my login information.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Try this...
Tap Settings > Safari
Then tap Clear History
Then tap Clear Cookies and Data
Then restart your iPad.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off. After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.

Try this. From your Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all eBay cookies.
Restart your Mac.

Safari will not open as a Login Item

All other applications set as Login Item start ok but not Safari. Apple Support say this is as it should be. Why? Safari worked as a Login Item under my very old OS X so why the retrograde step? Apple Support said to set Safari's preference to Open with all windows from last session but it is still necessary to open Safari from the Dock first! Any help?

Thank you for such a speedy response, I see you have been very busy today. I too use wi-fi, which connects instantaneously and therefore I do not accept this as a valid reason especially as I did not experience this problem with my old Mac which had quite a poor wi-fi service. And even if it were to be the case those of us who do not have slow wi-fi connection should not be penalised for the sake of those that do - all they need do is not use this option for Safari.
When Apple Support told me that "this is as it should be" I asked why System Preferences allows Safari to be selected in the first place. They had no answer. I also note from previous discussions that this problem started long ago. There must be a more valid reason.

Installed 5.0 on my Windows PC and it will not access websites. I reconfigured the firewall and it did not help. I can go to a website but it will not allow me to login. How can I fix this?

I updated to 5.0, added webmail adblocker and adblocker, and it would not work at all. I uninstalled, and reinstalled without the addons and it still did not work. Troubleshooting said to remove from firewall settings and re-add, which I did, but Norton Security Suite will only do "allow" and not "Auto". I can now access a page to a website, but can't log in (ie: yahoo mail, facebook, etc.)

I am a regular reader of this wonderful forum but tend to shy away from discussions as I think a lot of you out there are a lot more unix knowledgable than I. I tend to do as much as I can in the GUI only.
After working on many cust. Xservers.
I have recently decided to upgrade our own little office Xserver from a PM G4 to a Mac Mini Intel running 10.4.10 Xserver.
We use this machine as our live lab learning unit to ensure we don't stuff up our client
I normally follow the usual method of setup for a small office Xserver to be used for Web, Mail & File services:-
1. I installing OS Xserver - no services running
2. Then Update to 10.4.10 latest updates etc,
3. Configured dns correctly for registered domain & test fwd & rev lookup working OK.
4. Setup DHCP ok. tested dns working okfrom DHCP bound client.
5. Premoted server to Open Directory Master OK. Kerberos running OK.
6. In this instance I restored Open Directory master from previous working 10.4.10 Xserver PM G4 Open Dir Archive, Restarted server.
Now it gets to login screen but the login screen is frozen for about 10-15 minutes & won't let me type anything in.
Logged Backin as admin get the spinning wheel of death indefinately.
Force Restart the Xserver
Wait 10-15minutes
Login as root.
Noticed kerberos not running anymore.
Demote to standalone then back to Open directory master but problem still occurs after every restart.
Can any one please tell me what I have done incorrectly & how to fix without reinstalling from scratch?

I tried without network cable before posting, this did not help. Also tried on test network router.
However. I think I have fixed part of the problem.
I deselected the Enable SSL in the SA OD LDAP protocol area (not sure why this was on or whether it is the default setting when you promote to OD master).
Restarted the server.
It now boots quickly & allows me to log in OK.
I then Reset all the LDAP users passwords for OD OK in WGM. Just to make sure.
Restarted the server. Tested All services OK. Ie. Web, Mail, AFP etc.

Came back to add additional user in WGM & now get error:-
"Error of type eDSAuthFailed (-14090) on line 1922 of /SourceCache/ServerManagerUserGeneral/ServerManagerUserGeneral-193.3.2/"
Doh! One step fwd three back.
I do have familiarity with Terminal but tend to avoid using it to try & keep the server as close to Apple out of the box STD as possible to avoid headaches when they update their software.
All services are still running in OD.

Yes. Keberos realm automatically appeared when I promoted to OD master. As I understand it this tells you your DNS is functioning correctly.
Yes. The diradmin user appears in WGM under ldap.
Yes It is the only server on network.
I normally setup a server on a lab test router /ADSL setup away from anything else to ensure I am not chasing my tail when configuring a new setup.
PS I am slowly getting better at the terminal but because I don't use it that often I keep forgetting the cmds. This is what happens when you run Macs. They hardly ever screw up.
Hoping you can help with the above error as I would really like to learn to repair these issues instead of reinstalling everytime I screw up.

Safari will not allow me to log in to Just Energy account

Attempts at logging into https://www.justenergy.com/MyAccount/ fail to complete (submitting the login has no effect or error message). The same login url and method works when I use Firefox (for Mac OS X). I would prefer to use Safari to manage my Just Energy bill payments but, until this compatibility is fixed, I will have to continue to use Firefox. I have contacted Just Energy support on this issue 4 times or more over the last three years but have yet to see them fix things on their end. Any chance Apple can fix this? I've also tried switching the User Agent setting to Firefox located in the Develop menu in Safari but this hasn't resolved it either. Please let me know if Apple Safari Support is interested in coming up with a fix or workaround (other than using Firefox of course).

Using the electronic filing feature in federal court safari will not allow me to upload my documents for filing

I am an attorney and required to efile my documents in the federal court. Up to about 3 weeks ago I was able but now safari won't let me upload my word docs to file them. I was told that I have to go to the settings option and uncheck where it says "only allow or selct jpeg files". I have looked and looked and cannot find where to do this. Can anyone help?

There is no such setting in Safari. As far as I know, PACER will only accept documents in PDF format. That's certainly the only kind it will display. Convert the documents to PDF and file them.
