Safari will not open even when connected to wifi
Hello,
I am REALLY hoping someone smart can help me. I have a macbook pro and am connected to my wifi but am unable to open safari (I just get a blank screen, and cannot go to any websites). I have tried numerous things I have read on supposrt communites such as, reseting my router, deleting the wifi from my computer, restarting, etc. Other laptops connect fine, and if I take my Mac out of the house it will work with other wifi networks. So basically there is an issue between my Mac and my router. Apple wants $100 bucks to try and fix it (heck no!) and comcast ***** to begin with. So as someone not very technical at all, I am really hoping someone has the answer for me. Thanks bunches
When conencted to wifi, go to Settings > General > Date & Time
And either:
1. Switch "Set Automatically" to "ON" or
2. Switch "Set Automatically" to "OFF" and set your time zone manually

My MacBook Pro will not powerup (even when connected to power supply).
My MacBook Pro will not powerup (even when connected to power supply). The caps lock key is the only light on.
Hi PatB11902,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your MacBook Pro does not seem to power on, but the caps lock key will light up when you press the caps lock key, you are likely seeing a video issue.
There are several steps that can help troubleshoot this behavior, found at this link:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays - Apple Support
Start with these steps:
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Start up in Safe Mode.
If your Mac does not start up normally after these steps, here are some additional tips that can help:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on - Apple Support
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.
If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
Sincerely,
Jeremy -

Safari will not open, even after reboot
I have been having all sorts of problems with my iMac since installing Mavericks (Gmail integration was freezing everything, Maps just didn't work).
The latest is that Safari just will not open, period. I have rebooted several times and even reinstalled OS X via the Cmd+R on reboot, nothing. It hangs upon opening and needs a Force Quit. When restarting again, it asks if you want to reopen windows and it makes no difference if you say Yes or No.
Any ideas on what to do?Try deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update. -
New window will not open even when "open new window in tab" is checked
I cannot open a new window even when i have the option "Open new window in tab" checked.
Firefox will NOT open a new window under any circumstances.
Also, when I quit Firefox, the system thinks that multiple instances of FF is running but they are invisible to me.Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Safari will not load pages when connected to internet
I have just received a new mac book through work and find that I am unable to load any pages when in a wirless hotspot or at home using Safari even though the Airport and the connection help tells me that i am connected to the internet.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is? Might it be something to do with the way it has been configured?Hi Derek
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Go to your System Preferences (via the Apple Menu in the upper left of the screen) and open the Network panel. Select your connection on the left, then select "advanced". Click on the DNS panel. There, enter the following DNS codes:
If you live in the US - 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
These are Verizon codes for the general public
If you live outside the US - 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222
Select OK when done. Then "apply".
Restart Safari. -
Safari will not open even after all steps
I tried to follow Mary's instructions. I uninstalled safari and removed application support folder. I downloaded safarisetup.exe and restarted my computer. I then unconnected from intrnet and all networks. When I launch safarisetup.exe it asks for safari installer safari.msi which is no where to be found. I need help. BTW - I downloaded install for safari only.
Please help.
Thanks,... okay ...
I'd like to try an experiment. It's not a cure in itself for the issue but it might point us towards a cure.
Here's the experiment.
Head into your User accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights.
Log out of your usual user account, and log into the new user account. Now, try to launch Safari in the new user account. Does IE try to launch it, or does Safari open properly?
(Here's what I'm thinking ... in the Safari Develop menu, there's an option to open a web page with a different web browser (from inside Safari). I'm wondering if something ... ghastly ... has happened to your Safari preferences and settings files, resulting in that option being "stuck" on, so that IE always launches when you try to launch Safari. If that's what is causing the weird behavior in your usual user account, Safari should open properly in the new user account because there's a different set of Safari preferences and settings files in each different XP user account.) -
Safari will not open on iMac.
I have an iMac and I came home and safari will not open. When I try to open it says restore windows and will then give me a problem report. How can I fix this because I can now not get on the internet.
If you don't have another browser, you may have to use email to follow these instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful. -
After 10.4.11 update, Safari will not open
After I made the 10.4.11 update, Safari will not open. When I clic its icon in the Applications folder, just nothing happens. On the attempt to start the program from Terminal, I get the following:
$ /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/vmutils.framework/Versions/A/vmutils
Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Syndication.framework/Versions/A/Syndication
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap
In fact, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks has no subdirectory vmutils.framework. Thus it seems that some essential system files are missing. What to do?Hello Kai and welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Might be a corrupted Safari preference file.. try this: Locate this file: com.apple.safari.plist
It's here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Now try to launch Safari. If it works, don't forget to click on the icon in your Dock, then click, "Keep in Dock".

How can I correct the issue of Safari not connecting on my iPad Air? It was working great 2 days ago.....now on September 20 it is not working! I have an internet connection but Safari will not open. "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."
Hello Beckieor,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

Safari will not open. It bounces for a long time in the dock and then stops bouncing but no window opens, the icon has no arrow underneath, and Activity Monitor says it is Not Responding. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, perhaps including wireless networking on certain Macs. If you usually connect to the Internet via WiFi, and it doesn’t work in safe mode, connect using an Ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and perform a safe login, as follows: Enter your credentials at the login screen, then hold down the shift key and click the “Log in” button. Keep holding the key until the menu bar appears. In this mode, your login items, among other things, won’t load.
In safe mode, test again. Same problem(s) now?
After testing, reboot (if you booted in safe mode) or log out/log in (if you performed a safe login) as usual. -
I've spent all day trying to fix all the problems I'm encountered after updating to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro today. It's been a waste of a day. Nothing I have researched has helped. I wish I never updated. What is ironic that most of the things that do not work or Apple i products. I don't understand cloud but have a feeling this is the cause of most of the problems.
After update my computer prompted me to say cannot connect to Icloud Drive (What I don't understand I cloud and didn't know I had an Icloud drive).
Itunes will not open at all and it does not even try to open(I've downloaded it again to no avail).
Iphoto has a Circle slash mark through it so it's not even avaliable.
Safari will not open just like Itunes.
Icloud in preferences just keeps spinning like it's looking for Icloud drive. (Even though I don't use this I feel it is the problem)
So I have no access to my music, my photos cannot get on the internet with Safari Browser.
I'm afraid of what else probably doesn't work but I've been so consumed with the top three I haven't got to really explore the rest of all the apps.
My main concern at the moment are my pictures and my music.
Please Help, Thank you so much!!iPhoto is still in your Applications folder. Your iPhoto Library is still where it was.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Now, download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update. -
Safari will not open secure sites
Safari will not open any secure sites with a secure login. Anyone have an idea why?
Same issue here and yes, I can get to the secure sites using Firefox, Camino & Opera and no, when logged into the new user account I still can't access secure sites with Safari.
Also, I have been unable to purchase anything off of iTunes since this issue started. Does iTunes use Safariin some way? Any idea why the two things seem to be linked?
After successfully browsing Music Store & selecting the desired purchase, I hit the "Buy" button and get an error message saying that iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. "An unknown error ocurred (0x80010003)." It suggests I make sure my network connection is active & try again, but I'm clearly online.
