Safari will not quit. Message are you sure you want to send a form again?

I am running an imac with OSX 10.5.8 with Safari Veriosn 5.06(5533.22.3).
I have an RV web Site up and cannot quit Safari. The RV web site does not show the x at the top left but only the - and the +.
There is a Message saying "Are tyou sure you want to send a form again" options are Cancel or Send. I have tried both and the message does not go away.
I have tried to quit Safari by pressing the command and Q Key and also by selecting Safari on the top bar and choosing quit Safari, without any luck.
Have also tried to logout and a shutdown but it comes up with a message "The application Safari canceled logout to try again, quit Safari and choose logout from the Apple Menu." I have tried this with no luck in quiting Safari. I am using Firefox to post this message as my Safari is locked.
Any help would be appreciated in how to gracefully quit Safari without hitting the power button.
Thanks...

Found the solution.
1. Key in Command Tab
2. Select the Application
3. Press the following keys at the same time (Command-Option-Esc) and Select Force Quit.

Most annoying message keeps coming up on several websites.
    If you go here:
    http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/s/laundry-sorter
and click on the "Honey-Can-Do® Wicker Corner Hamper"
and once in that item's site, you click to go back, I'm getting
a message, "Are you sure you want to send a form again?"
I don't enter anything into the screen of the item.  All I do is
look at it, and try to click back and I keep getting this annoying
    message.
And it happens with all other items on the BBB site.
How to turn off this blankety-blank message??
Its such a pain to have to keep clicking "Send" !!
    HALP!!

    Hi ...
I followed your instructions, went back a page but no warning on Safari. Might be a cookies, cache, or extensions issue.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

Does it power on if you plug in the charger?
But to be honest I see in your description it says 'Late 2011' so there is a good chance you have warranty right, I would take it to Apple store and let them sort it out

Safari will not quit.  It isn't highlighted, so what do I do?

Dismiss any open dialog boxes in Safari, and if that doesn't work, press the Option, Command, and Escape keys, highlight Safari, and choose Force Quit.

    Ok Chris..
Might be a good time to run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairng.
Launch Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then click First Aid.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, click Repair Disk

  • Are you sure you want to send a form again?  Safari

How do I stop the pop-up "Are you sure you want to send a form again?" This pops up when I am trying to go back to a previous screen. Does it enough that it becomes annoying. I thought the new upgrade would stop it... it didn't.

I have the same thing... and yes, with me it's a bug.
When the popup comes on screen, I choose Send or the other option. Then it is carried out, but the popup remains on screen. I can only get it to disappear if I restart Safari.
Does anyone have the same problem and if so, what can I do about it?

  • What does this mean: "Are you sure you want to send a form again?"

I have a MacBook 10.4.11 (tiger) with Safari 3.1.1, everytime i use Safari, i always get this message when I click to back button to back a page:
"Are you sure you want to send a form again?
To open this page again, Safari must resend the form you completed to open the page the first time. This may cause the website to repeat actions it took the first time you sent the form."
What does that mean, and how can I fix it to make it stop popping up, because it's getting really annoying having to see that message frequently when I use the back button. This has been going on ever since I bought the computer (around december 2006), and I've been curious about what this means and wanting to fix it! please help..

If anyone has a way of stopping Safari from doing this I'd appreciate the "how to".
I am on a website that has phpbb installed and when I do a search for new posts it shows them to me.
When I click on a post that I wish to read it shows me that post but if I hit back the server is set up to not allow multiple searches within a short time and the page returns "you cannot submit another search in such a short time".
If I understand what you're describing, that's a function of the phpbb forum, not something Safari is doing or can change.
A suggestion: Instead of just clicking on the posts you want to read, I would Command-click to open them in new tabs. Your page of search results will remain open in the first tab, so when you're finished reading the posts, you can close their tabs and return to your list of search results.

  • "Are you sure you want to send a form again" Pops up when I navigate back.

Why does this statement keep popping when I navigate back? "Are you sure you want to send a form again"? This is very annoying and I would like to be able to stop it.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab.
At the bottom of that pane, deselect: Ask before sending a non-secure form from a secure website
    Relaunch Safari.
If setting it in preferences doesn't help, launch the Terminal app (Applications/Utilities)
Type in this command exactly as you see it here. You may be prompted for your admin password.
    defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugConfirmTossingUnsubmittedFormText NO
Quit the Terminal application and launch Safari.
If at some time you want to change this command back, type in the same command but at the end
    type in: YES

  • Safari will not launch, message says system incompatible

I am running a Powerbook G3 with 333MHz processor and 512MB ram. System OSX 10.2.8 When I try to open Safari I get the message "The application cannot be launched because this system is
incompatible" The Safari version I have is 1.2.2. I have also tried to launch Safari 4.0.4 and get the same exact message. I have searched the discussion forums and have found nothing that helps.
Using a D-Link wireless adaptor and have successfully downloaded OSX software updates and have accessed Macmail and Microsoft Software Updates for my Office Programs, so I am on my wireless router; but this should not keep the Safari application from launching. I know this Powerbook does not have an airport card, but since I have been successful downloading other software, I cannot understand why Safari will not launch.
I do not have the CD's for the current system version and the newer versions are on DVD's, which this powerbook will not read. What do you suggest??

What else could cause the system to be incompatible with Safari?
It's not the system that's incompatible, it's that something in Safari is incompatible with the System. Without knowing exactly what you did and being able to see it, it's very hard to diagnose, but it's definitely Safari.
Are there files in the library that should not be there?
There are over 100,000 files in Library; you don't even want to think about trying to figure out which one(s) are the culprit, much less what they all do.
If your PowerBook has a FireWire port, and you can buy or borrow a FireWire DVD drive, you can install 10.4 that way, or you could even use another Mac via Target Disk Mode. But if your PowerBook doesn't have FireWire, it's not supported by 10.4 at all.

  • Mail activity hangs endlessly. Safari will not quit

MacBook Pro, 16GB 10.9 Terabyte HD.  Tried completely reinstalling Maverick, fix permissions, repair disk.  Sometimes internet preference pane hangs and will not open.  Hangs Safari as well. There must be unknown conflict?  Problem seems to be related to a "remote server".  Activity Monitor shows two Safari-related activities not responding.  I have to force quit mail and safari to get the computer to shut down.  In Internet Accounts, I disabled google and Yahoo.  Have iCloud, and twitter.  Other Apps seems to work ok.  I have switched to Chrome instead instead of Safari because of Safari issues, but Mail still has endless activity and will not quit.  Any ideas?  should not have to force quit all of the time

The problems seems to be with the following, which is not responding in the Activity Monitor:
    com.apple.preferences.internetaccounts.remoteservice
I cant find this file on my computer.

  • Safari will not 'Quit'.

I have to manually turn off the iMac.  OSX.10.6.8 is operating systme.  When I 'quit' Safari, the "Quit Safari" text under File goes gray, but Safari does not actually quit.  I can't shutdown (error message that Safari preventing shutdown).  I then have to shut down by holding down the Power button.
    What gives?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Skype and Safari will not quit after cache cleared

I recently used the application Cocktail to clear my library cache and what I thought were some other excess things from my computer. Since then, every time I load Skype, then try to quit, it doesn't quit. This also occasionally happens with Safari, though not as often. I'm wondering whether I might have inadvertently cleared something important?

    OK. Do this:
    1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
    2. In the File menu, choose either Open Console Log, or Open System Log, or both, so that the Console application displays the contents of both system.log and console.log.
    3. In the Finder, go to the /Applications folder, and try to open Mail and/or Safari by double-clicking on them.
    4. Look at the bottom of the Console windows for messages that could have been written there as a result of the failed launch. These may provide useful information to properly identify the problem.

I received notice that updates were available.  I clicked to install the update.  I got a message that Safari was not closed and would need to be before the update could be implemented.  I tried quitting Safari through the File:Quit bar across the top; the right click on the icon on the dock and then quit.  Nothing works.

Select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Safari and press return.
