Safari won't connect to internet; Firefox will???
Wierdest thing. For some reason Safari won't browse or connect to the internet anymore. When I open Safari the default address is in URL bar, but with highlighted (words only) in blue and it just sits there all day. I can't connect to any web site on the net.
However, if I open Firefox all is fine and my Mail is all fine also.
I've repaired permissions a few times and even trashed the preferences for Safari, restarted computer etc, but it still refuses to actually display anything. I get a blank white page, then after about 2 minutes it simply says "Safari can't open the page. Because the server stopped responding".
As I said, no problem with Firefox.
Any ideas.
I thank you for getting me into the right ball-park otherwise I would not have spotted it.
You're welcome. Glad I could help.
Please consider marking this post "helpful" next to my name ((you'll need to log-on to the forum).

Safari won't connect to internet but firefox will
I just set up a home wifi network. Firefox v 22 works perfectly. However itunes store in itunes fails to open. I also just get a blank screen in Safari with no connectivity to the internet. No address I type into the browser bar generates ANY response. Chrome aso works just fine as a browser, so internet connectivity is NOT an issue. Any ideas on a fix to allow these two Apple products to work?
Back up all data.
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens. -
Safari won't connect to internet but other browsers will
Firefox and Chrome can connect to the internet but since upgrading to Yosemite, Safari, iTunes and other Apple Apps have an exceedingly difficult time connecting to the internet. (ie server not found) I have to resort to turning off/on my wifi and/or restarting my computer. All other non-Apple applications can access the internet just fine.
I, too, am experiencing this problem. It occurs with both Safari and Firefox. It wasn't bad at the start; occasionally what seemed like my internet would cut out while I was surfing, but then the problem began to last for longer durations. As of this morning, I've been trying to get Safari to open for two hours with no success.
Here's the specifics. I open Safari. Most times, the load bar will extend about 1/6 the length and stop, displaying my homepage address in the address bar. Sometimes, the load bar will creep halfway, and part of my homepage will appear; typically, images don't load, and sometimes the page format gets wonky. Rarely, the homepage will fully load! I can even move through the homepage's image slideshow seamlessly. However, if I try to go to another page, I'm back at the 1/6 occurrence. Very rarely, everything works fine. Closing the laptop or Quitting Safari kills the connection, and I have to start this stupid process all over again. Finally, Firefox is either all or nothing; either the pages load and work fine, or nothing works at all.
I've done a DNS manual adjustment, I've created a specific Network, I've unchecked Safari from the iCloud options, I've run scans for malware and viruses (and came out clean), and I've done a clean reinstall of Yosemite. There's no need for me to tweak my router or contact my ISP; every other wireless application in our house is functioning perfectly. It's not the wifi.
Nothing's working, and I'm about to throw my computer out a window (not really, just frustrated). Any help would be so very appreciated. -
Safari won't connect to internet
Hi, Safari on Ipad will not connect to my wi-fi. My wi-fi works fine with Galaxy phone and Gateway computer. I noticed that next to the wi-fi name there is a little swirly thing that keeps spinning like it is trying to update. I have rebooted Ipad several times and also my wi-fi. Help!
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

For the past few days my Mac Mini has been having issues.
Safari won't connect to internet, but Firefox does.
Time and date are frozen. Only resets when copmuter is re-booted.
Unable to update via App Store and iTunes won't connect either.
Please advise.Hi again,
Let me ask for some better help for you that is familiar with this problem (if in fact it is a similar problem with the IP address and your ISP.
The other topic concerning this can be found at:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2725608
It is a somewhat lengthy thread but may just apply to your situation.
Anyways I will see if I can call on some better help for you. Hang in there. Best to arm yourself with enough info before contacting Comcast so they might know what you are dealing with fully.

edit: I have posted for some extra help for you that may have a better idea of what's going on if it is your ISP and their modem and how it handles the IP address causing Safari and iTunes not to connect. Hang in there it may take awhile but I'm sure someone will pop in to help.

Safari won't hit the internet but Firefox does.
I have two Airport Extremes and one Linksys router all on separate channels. I have both Windows and Macs. Windows computers hit all 3 routers. The Mac Air will hit the Linksys using Safari, Mail and iTunes. But is not friendly with the Airport Extremes unless I use Firefox.
My MacBook and iMac will not hit the Airport Extremes with Safari, Mail or iTunes nor the Linksys with Safari, Mail or iTunes. However FireFox will load the internet just fine on all three routers.
When I run Airport diagnostics it reports all three routers are running fine.
What am I missing? My Toshiba, Dell, HP and Fujitu computer hit all three routers using XP and Vista.Back up all data.

Hi all
Safari won't connect to the internet. My Itunes store works fine, and i can update my software without any problems.
Anyone have a sollution?
Thanks!I open Safari => Top sites open ==> i click on a site ==> Safari says " Safari can't open the page "http://www.youtube.com/" because Safari can't connect to the server "www.youtube.com".
This message is not a popup, its a text in the Safari page like "no internet" or something.

Safari won't connect to certain webpages
Welp,
on my G5, in the past few weeks, Safari won't connect with only certain internet pages, like ebay, qvc, and my school webpage. Called Apple help and the man said there was a third party thingie in the way. Dumped preferences, then re-installed the harddrive (with archives) and still the same problem. Type the address, wait more than a minute, then the Safari cannot connect page comes up. I've sent about nine of these to report bugs but have heard nothing back. I'm computer illiterate and will appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)First off, this is the eMac group. Your system info says "G5". So are you in the correct group (all eMacs are G4 machines).
Have you tried those same pages with other browsers? FireFox and Camino are two that are popular and free downloads. So first thing to do is try those out as well and see how the pages come up. If they come up in Firefox or Camino, then I would agree that your problem is with Safari.
If, however, they don't come up there, then your problem is elsewhere. Likely places to check are Firewall setting in software or in any router you might be using. I have found certain "secure" or other log in type sites sometimes have troubles with certain Firewall settings on my DSL router. You may have the same issue and are looking in the wrong place for your solution.

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here). Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here. If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here. If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed. I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

How to enable a disabled iPod that won't connect to internet
trying to enable my disabled 5th generation iPod touch. I have tried connecting to iTunes on the computer, which I couldn't get it to do anything. I then tried using the "Find my iPhone" website and erased the iPod. However, I got a message that says "This iPod will be erased when it connects to the internet". How do I connect a disabled/locked iPod to the internet/wifi while it is waiting to be erased because it won't connect to internet/wifi?
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
