Safari won't load ANY webpages
Since the OS update this week Safari will not load any webpages. All software updates have been done.
I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch early 2011 2.2 GHz with 8 GB ram running OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
Running Safari Version 5.1.3 (7534.53.10)
I get the beachball on ANY page I try to load. It also will show the beachball in the page area even without typing a url to load. I have reset all but saved names and passwords, and autofill info and emptied the cache.

Several things to try ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug ins Quit then relaunch Safari. If Safari loads pages, troubleshooting help here. Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit, relaunch Safari to test.
Quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file (preferences).
Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit, relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash, If not, just move it back to the Preferences folder.
Try Safari in another user account. If Safari won't load pages there also, then it's possible the startup disk needs repairing.
Use Lion Recovery for that.

Have checked firewall and network settings and compared to other computers running firefox. All is ok, but firefox won't load any webpages. This started immediately after it updated yesterday. No error messages.
Have been having problems with updates on serveral of our computers for a month or so. Previous problems have always been that firefox renames a file it needs by adding moz.backup to the file name and I have to search for the file and remove it. This time I'm getting no error messages.A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Nope, I tried the Pacifist route after applying the combo update.
It does sound as if webkit is busted at the moment.
What version of osx is on your install disks?
Not sure, I'll have to check them.

My Safari won't load any page.

Recently my safari won't load any page/website. My safari can start loading a website after I restart my mabook pro. And then after a day, the safari won't load any website again. What might cause this to happen? Another application that use internet like steam, mail, skype,etc. is working normally. Oh and it's not only safari. Google Chrome also have the same problem.
I'm very thankful if any of you who can solve this, this problem is killin' me XD1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

My iPhone4 has 3G but Safari won't load any data, why is this?
My iPhone4 works fine in some places, but whenever I'm in the house and have 3G, safari won't load. I just get a message saying 'safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding' can anyone help me fix this?
Thank youI'm getting the "server stopped responding" error on apps that use 3G (Words with Friends, My Xbox Live, etc) as well as in Safari. Anything that uses the 3G network is timing out. Texts work flawlessly, and emails do arrive and send, though it's very slow.
I spoke with a representative at AT&T. She said there were no reports of tower outages or issues in my area (Dallas, Texas). She had me restore the factory defaults on the network settings, remove and reinstall the SIM card, reset my phone, turn 3G off and back on again, empty the cache and data in Safari, and some other things. None of it fixed it.
If I turn off 3G, and only use the Edge network or WiFi, everything works just fine. But 3G is broken, and has been for me since yesterday
Would love to hear if anyone else has any ideas. -
In the last couple of weeks, Safari has fell apart on me. This is 2.0.3 on OS X 10.4.6.
At first, it merely crashed on me, usually just a few minutes after launch. I could restart, go to the same page, and things were fine until a few minutes later. Now, Safari can't load any page. It's stuck eternally contacting the host of my home page.
I re-applied the 10.4.6 combo updater last night and it didn't help. I used Pacifist to reinstall both the Safari application and the WebKit framework; didn't help.
Other applications are also malfunctioning now. Real Player can't check for updates and my VPN client is unable to make a connection to its server. Still other applications (notably Firefox and Camino) are OK.
Creating a new user account doesn't help. It exhibits the same problems.
Any suggestions?

Nope, I tried the Pacifist route after applying the combo update.
It does sound as if webkit is busted at the moment.
What version of osx is on your install disks?
Not sure, I'll have to check them.

Safari won't load any page on my Windows 7 64 bit PC:
Is this another thing that Apple has done to get more business? It is the same way with my iTunes! I can't get the iTunes Store to load anymore. I even tried to send an error report thing and it got stuck on that too! Then it became "unresponsive" so I had to start Task Manager to exit out of it. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there any way to fix it?
I have the exact same problem after last upgrade to 10.5 safari, now iTunes and Safari can't load any sites and I can't load iTunes app store.
With those symptoms, I'd check the following document:

(Itunes uses the same webkit rendering engine for the store as Safari does for rendering web pages, so the same sort of things that can cause a blank Store can also cause a blank Safari.) -
WRT54G- Good connection strenght, but won't load any webpages.

So here's my problem, I've had my WRT54G v.8 for over a year now, and about two weeks ago my desktop and laptop that connect threw the router stopped being able to load webpages. The signal strength is excellent, it jsut won't laod any pages...almost like there is no connection. I've tried resting the router a bunch of times, and tried my friends laptop, and it wouldn't work either. My laptop works on other networks, so I'm fairly confident the problem lies with the router. The comp that has a line to the router is still able to go online. Any ideas?Reset your router by pressing the reset button in back for 30 seconds. Release and wait 10 seconds and power cycle the router. Reconfigure the router.

Even though it's about a different application, I'd try the following document with that:

Safari won't load ANY web pages!
safari just stopped running web pages all of a sudden. i think it started after i upgraded to 10.3.9. safari bounces and opens up. then it attempts load a page. after a few minutes it gives me a message of "Safari could not open the page “http://livepage.apple.com/” because the server stopped responding." it's the same with every site i try going to. i've already tried to empty the cache, reset safari, disk utility, and deleting the history and bookmarks. if any one has any idea I would love to hear it
Can you use another browser such as Firefox or Camino? Shiira doesn't count because it is based on the same foundation as Safari.
Also what happens if you try a new, clean user account? To create a new account, open System Preferences and click on Accounts. You may have to click on the padlock and give your admin name and password to create an account. Click on the plus sign in the lower right corner to create the new account. I see no reason to give it a password. You can delete this account later using using the minus key, although I have kept my second account to use for testing (the user folder only takes up 32 kb).
And for those still using anything earlier than OS X 10.4.4, I strongly suggest running either the regular 10.4.4 update (which can only be used if you have 10.4.3) or the combo update. The latter will make sure your system is up to snuff. There were lots of fixes in general and several specifically to Safari in this update. -
Safari won't load ANY web page
Hello,
Safari 2.0.4 running on OS 10.4.8 will show the url in the address bar, and the status bar will say "Contacting 'www.apple.com' " but nothing ever loads in the browser.
My internet connection seems solid enough with Firefox and IE only Safari and Dashboard Widgets seem effected. I am connecting via ethernet, router & dsl. I've tried logging in on a different user account and the problem is the same there too. I've tried loading HTML documents from my local drive and it will not load them either so I don't think it has to do with my internet connection. There is no spinning ball, and the browser doesn't hang up or crash it just consistantly shows a blank white browser window. I've cleared the cache & history. It will not show bookmarks either.
I thought I'd try to download a fresh copy of Safari and re-install it but the latest version I find on Apple's website is Safari2.0.1 and when I try to run it's installer it insists it cannot install because I need 10.4.2 even though I am running 10.4.8.
Any suggestions on how to solve this are appreciated.

Thanks for your thorough description of the problem and steps you have taken. Good you tested from another User Account. The problem is system-wide, since the other User Account showed the same condition.
After upgrading to 10.4.8, did you remember to "repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Utility folder? If not, please do so, then restart Safari and see if all is well.
If no change, I suggest reapplying the 10.4.8 combined update, repairing permissions via Disk Utility after the install restart.

My apps won't open and safari won't load any pages???
I cannot open any apps, connect to App store, iTunes store, or open any pages on safari. I have 2 iPads. The one with the problem is the original iPad. My iPad2 works fine. I have turned it off, reset it, restored it, and upgraded it. Nothing seems to fix my problem. Please help.
OK, I've been doing a fair bit of that, but no improvement. Also, it says under About that I have one video. I don't think that's right unless it's hidden somewhere. It's not in Camera. Where might I look? Thanks for your help.

Opus123 Saw where you posted a reply with no response. Must have missed that but yes it has been a while since we attempted to fix your issue. I can suggest some other methods. The first one would be to reset all your browser settings to see if that helps. If you are receiving emails then we can assume that the connection to the internet is fine. I know Ihave an issue where my phone knocks me off the wireless hub in my house so I need to turn off the WIFI on my phone if I am doing any work. I don't know why this is the case but it seems to be fixed if I do that. Then I reset the router and I am back in business. you could try to go hard wired versus wirelsss if that's an issue. Could be a driver thing. As a last resort you could do a factory reset of your system by reinstalling the OS and basically starting with a clean system. MAKE SURE TO BACKUP ALL YOUR FILES BEFORE DOING THIS SO YOU DO NOT LOSE ANY OF YOUR FILES. Try those and get back to me. I'll be wating and watching to see if any of those options work for you. Safari NOT LOADING ANY WEBPAGES...PLEASE HELP!!
Hey Everyone,
I’ve been having a huge problem with my safari browser ever since I got it installed onto my windows XP OS. On starting up the application, safari JUST WON’T LOAD ANY WEBPAGES. I’ve only managed to get it to load pages a few times after much struggle and this usually succeeds immediately after restarting the computer. And the other weird thing is, once fired up, it won’t fail to load any web pages until you close the browser. The other fault is that the browser keeps crushing once you mingle around with its buttons in attempt to get it to load the webpages.
I have tried to google whether people have had similar problems with the browser but none fits into my problem. I would love for anyone to offer me any guidance on what to do next after all the below attempts to fix the problem failed;-
-Re-installing Safari several times.
-The same problem occurs on my Windows Vista Notebook.
-can’t seem to find a facility to change the port number.
PLEASE HELP!In Vista, Safari personal prefs and such are stored in the hidden user folder "AppData" in subfolders Local and Roaming, under "Apple" folders.
Clean out (move or something) and let Safari start fresh, which should solve the issue.
Not sure where XP stores files.
