Safari won't load some sites but will open others

It just started today. I tried opening a site inside 4shared.com and it won't open. It worked yesterday but it doesn't work today. It gives me a blank page and kept on tittering the entire time. I already updated my Mac's software. Nothings change.
Can somebody help me out?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari wont load some sites but will open others

    Hi
Since yesterday morning, my mac will all of a sudden not load certain websites while others load fine. For example some that wont load are google, gmail, commonwealth bank, about.com, but facebook and a number of others still load. I get the "Safari can't connect to the server" error page. Same thing in firefox.
I have an ADSL modem (netgear) connected to my mac running 10.6, via ethernet. My modem is not a router. I share my macs internet connection via airport, and i can still access everything fine on my iphone and ipad which tells me its something specific to my mac.
I havent changed any settings so I have no idea why my internet is suddenly so selective of what it will access.
I tried flushing the DNS and changing the MAC access in the terminal with no result.
Any idea? Its driving me insane :-/

  • Safari won't load some web pages.

Ever since installing Mavericks, Safari won't load some web pages (including these Apple support pages). I'm able to load the pages using Chrome or Firefox. Does anyone know of any settings in Safari 7 or the Mavericks system preferences that would be causing this?
    -Greg

I had the same problem... I ran disk repair and repaired all permissions on the HD then reopened safari now it's working fine.

  • Safari won't load some images (after upgrade to Mavericks from Lion)

    Hi,
I've noticed that since I upgraded my OS from Lion to Mavericks, Safari won't load all images on certain websites.
I've tried loading the same pages on my daughter's MacBookPro (she upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks) and everything works just fine.
We cross checked the Safari preferences and everything is identical.
Below are two pictures, the first one taken from my computer, the second one from my daughter's. As you can see, in the first photo the image won't display, while it's been perfectly loaded in the second photo.
    Here's the website: http://blog.alice.tv/berengario/2013/11/16/trasmissione-su-arturo-tv/
I've tried opening the same page on Firefox, and all images are perfectly displayed.
    Could you please help me?
    Thank you for your support!
    Kind regards,

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Safari won't load Webkinz site

I have been having trouble with Webkinz on my Mac. Safari hadn't been loading, and I thought it might either be my dial up connection or my version of Flash player. I updated Flash, now have DSL, but Safari still won't load the site. If I watch the status bar, it loads about 42 of 44 items, then stalls. Any ideas? Firefox works well, but I'd like to be able use Safari as well.
    Thanks

Do you have anything in your Home/Library/InputManagers folder, as well as /Library/InputManagers and /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins (as long as it's related to something in one of the other two folders? If so, remove them and restart Safari to test it.
If you don't have any Input Managers, then I would try downloading Cocktail, launch it and choose Cocktail from the Window menu, then Pilot, then Tasks, and run the maintenance schedule. Then restart your Mac and test Safari.
If that doesn't work, you're probably going to need an Archive & Install with the Preserve Users and Network Settings option: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1545
Download the 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel Only) or the 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC only). Then Repair Disk Permissions, do the Archive & Install, reboot the Mac, install the 10.4.11 Combo Update for your system, then use Software Update for everything else since then. Finally, Repair Disk Permissions again, delete the Previous Systems folder, and restart the Mac to test Safari again.

  • Safari won't load some pages

Some of my most used pages won't load in Safari, many state to enable Java in the preferences but it is already enabled.
If I use a proxy server I can get the first page but any links won't work.
This issue arose after test MacKeeper and I am concerned that programs has deleted something. Also all my Top SIte webpage icons in a new page have disappeared.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve this.
After running MacKeeper my desk top picture also disappeared. So I believe this programs has deleted some key files.
Any help with this would be welcome.
    Thank you

I have a problem that I just moved to Europe and my OSX is being shipped by Ocean. So I can't reinstall until it arrives.
I believe I uninstalled MacKeeper, but I am not 100% sure all the elements of this program are gone. I tried to find any files in the Activity Monitor, but none are obviously named. If there is any information which file to look for that could be hiding on the computer it would be great.
The only issues I have found to now is the inability of Safari, Firefox and Opera to access some webpages; they won't load unless I load via a proxy server.
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thank you

  • Safari won't load certain websites but Chrome does :/

    Hello!
I am running OSX 10.10 and safari ver Version 8.0 (10600.1.25). I had the Yosemite beta before this current installation and Mavericks before that.
When I try opening certain websites with Safari they will not load. They will get stuck in the "loading" screen (the blue bar under the omnibar will start going from the left to the right) but the page simply wont load. When I try to access the same website with Chrome it loads instantly. Is there any way to reinstall Safari from scratch to see if that will solve the issue?
    Thanks!

    MIght be a plugin ...
From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
Deselect:  Enable plug ins. Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference then you need to troubleshoot third party add ons > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try deleting the cache associated with Safari. (Not the same as deleting the cache from the Safari menu bar.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Clck Go
Move the Cache.db  (or ApplicationCaches.db) file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
And several of the sites you mentioned require the Flash plugin. Try uninstalling the currently installed Flash plugin, then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure there's enough free space on the starutp disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon in your Desktop. Click Get Info.
In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
And remove any items in System Preferences > Security > Login Items
Same for  HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Startupitems

  • Firefox, all the sudden, will now load the site but will not let me go to a chat area in the website, what has happened?

I have a site that i am on all the time and have never had a problem at all using it, but the other day all the sudden i could log into the site but when i go to use the chat room feature in the site i get kicked back out to the sign in area. I have used on other comp to make sure not site and have been able use w Internet Explorer... So i am at a loss as to what has happened all the sudden. Please help me...very frustrated w this... Jared

Original problem I noticed was that regular websites I go to (such as msn) were only partially downloading.  I could see the text on the site but no pictures or videos.  All web surfing was extremely slow.  When I would go to a site such as man I would see another address in the lower left corner for "ads1.msads.net" or "cdn.optimizely.com" that is was trying to connect to. I tried using all three of my browsers (firefox, safari, chrome) and got the same response on all browsers.  After I spent some time researching the issue I decided I probably had a adware/malware problem so I decided to try adwaremedic.com.  I could also not access that site along with thesafemac.com or apple.com.  I was also getting the same response on my other devices (iPhone, iPad, and a mac air).  I could not access any of these sites on any of my devices although I could get to almost any other site although it was very slow.  At that point I decided to unplug the router.  I also did a number of other things before then to try and manually get rid of any adware.  Eventually I got msn back working, apple.com, and the speed was much faster.  But, I still can not access adwaremedic and thesafemac.com.  I could access these on my phone with 3G but not on my wifi.  This is where the problem still stands.  I am sure I still have some adware on my computer and need to find a way to remove it.  I am no techie so the complicated manual fixes are difficult for me to do.

  • MBP won't load some sites on the net ???

    Hi,
At my work i can't load som epages on the net. Some works fine but others don't....When I get home everything works well. i think it's the way the net at work is set up, but i'm not sure. Our net at work is wuite slow, can that be the cause ? It tells me that *"the server stopped responding"*
    Any ideas ????

Well in as much as they work at home one would assume that there are issues with internet service at your place of work or for some reason they are blocking web sites. As long as you have no issues at home it would seem that your MBP is OK.

  • Safari won't load full html, but other browsers do

I only see the basic when I open safari, but all other browsers look fine. Why is that?

You need to do a safe boot in order to prevent third-part system add-ons from loading, and determine whether they're causing your problem. The most common reason for safe booting not to work is that you're using a USB keyboard plugged into a hub, or a non-Apple wireless keyboard. If your keyboard is wired, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac, not to a hub.
If you can't get safe boot to work at all, we'll have to skip that step and proceed to the next:
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are four lines of text in monospaced type, which are UNIX shell commands. They’re harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of running these commands, search this site for other discussions in which they’ve been used without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
To begin, launch the Terminal application; e.g., by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search.
    Step 1
Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    Step 4
    ls -1A {,/}Library/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Sta}* 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, change it to something like “[email protected]” before posting.
Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Won't load on wifi but will on lte?

have a weird problem on my iPhone 5, YouTube and twitch videos will not play over wifi, not just my home wifi, but i've tried about 4 different wifi's and it just won't play. I've restored the phone, i've tried using safari, the official youtube app and Jasmine. I've tried messed around with my home router channels and swapping between b/g/n and still no luck. If I turn the wifi off on the phone and just use 4g or LTE it loads right up. I power cycled the phone Ive done a hard reset. I also can't load anything on my imac desktop either. No problems with this up until 2 says ago. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Update: youtube nor twitch will load on my xbox one

Try to disable IPv6 in Firefox.

  • Safari Won't Load Some 'https:' Pages

For the past week or so, my old trusty G3 (running 10.4.11, all software updates current) is having a problem with certain https: pages - typically ones that are brought up right after logging into a service like AOL Webmail (and unfortunately Apple Discussions, too). What is supposed to happen is the interim page gets processed and then automatically goes on to a "welcome" page or similar. What actually happens is the page either loads fully and then nothing, leaving a blank page leading nowhere and without completing the login sequence, or stalls on loading (with a half-done progress bar... indefinitely).
Checked all my network proxy settings - they're OK. Can access all standard http and most other https pages just fine.
Cleared cache - no effect. Reset Safari - no luck. Shut down, restarted, etc... still have the problem.
Downloaded & installed Firefox 2.0.0 on the G3. With Firefox, I had no problems at all processing the pages. So it doesn't seem to be the target webpages or the network connection. However, Firefox is slooow on the G3 - so I'd rather use Safari.
Other Macs of mine running 10.4.11 & latest Safari are showing no problems of this type (or else I wouldn't be writing this).
Any suggestions? Any other place I need to be looking or anything else I need to hunt down / delete / reinstall / fix?

You have already done some of this, but try:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
If not, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:
