Works just fine for me using Safari 3.2.1
You should never use symbols in any file name and the comma may be the cause of trouble.

  • Safari won't open secure websites

Since installing Mountain Lion my Safari will only open https websites about 25% of the time. I get the message "can't establish secure connection"..... I close Safari and reopen and at times it will work for a short while. Other times I have to restart the computer. The problem always returns after a while.
It never did this before I installed Mountain Lion. Any ideas?

1Password or Trusteer's Rapport security software could be causing Safari to not be able to access https sites.

  • Safari Won't Open Specific Website

I was using an auction website and had numerous tabs open and let to have dinner, returned to computer and all the tabs were frozen at a specific time. I emptied cache and restarted computer and then Safari. Now, the auction site will not load. I receive the following message:
Safari could not open the page “https://www.swoopo.com/” because the server is not responding.
I can open the site on my son's Mac Laptop
Can some suggest a solution? THANKS

Yes, thank you, I read that fine the first time. I wasn't expecting you'd personally have to know the answer to the problem. I posted a reply to this thread to describe my problem because it seemed relevant and similar with the problems discussed in this thread, and that these problems might be related. I thought someone else might have ideas to suggest, too.
For whatever it's worth, apple.com is loading fine today, after several days of acting up. I did nothing to change my system from yesterday, when it still wasn't loading unless I cleared all cookies set by apple.com and flushed the cache, so I'm even more puzzled. I'm waiting to see if it stops loading at some point.
I've had a similar problem of a specific site not loading on Safari 3 (while it loaded up with Mac's FF, and on all browsers on my PC), earlier, when for several weeks linkedin.com stopped loading properly. It would seemingly hang, not render anything, and after 10 mins or so spew out the whole page. It's working fine now, so what caused that one to not load up is also a mystery to me, but I believe it could be the same underlying problem - whatever it is.

  • Safari won't open certain websites... why?

Safari will not open certain sites. I cannot get onto youtube, but i can get on apple site??? i want this working so i can change my homepage and never have to come back here, download firefox, because safari has given me NOTHING AT ALL, besides RUN AROUNDS AND PROBLEMS. thanks
Somebody help me before I switch to PC... seriously

I am also unable to load some websites. In my case, they are all Australian websites. These are websites that I have previously used for many years.
I have an Apple MacBook Pro and recently upgraded to Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8  and Safari 6). I contacted Apple support by phone. They responded immediately, and spent 30 minutes with me trying a number of ways to correct the problem. They finally advised that it is not an Apple problem; that I need to contact website support at each of the websites that are not loading; and that I may need a unique plugin app from each website. Unfortunately, there are a lot of websites that are not loading. Any advice?

  • Safari won't open certain websites

I am sorry if this already has a thread but I couldn't find it. My question is whether anyone can give me some advice about how to get over the problem of safari not opening certain websites. I have followed Apple's suggestion's to add "index/html" following the address but it does not work. They also suggest to contact each websites adminstrator which I don't have the time as there are a number of websites in which I have encountered this problem. Also, it seems to be a deficiency of the Safari rather than the other websites. How do I get over this obestacle? TX!

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I just experienced something very strange.
First of all, I installed Leopard 36 hours ago, and except for a small email issue, it's been great. Until this...
I was on my own website, when it suddenly said it couldn't open my page because it couldn't find the server. I checked with my host, and everything was fine. I tried going there with an old version of IE, and I got right on. Tried again with Safari, and no dice. I studied the addresses to see if anything was different, and noticed that in IE, there was no "www." in the address. So, I deleted the www from the address in Safari, and it found the website. However, all the images were X's because their address starts with a www.
This lasted about 10 minutes, and then everything was fine. During that time, other websites seemed to work fine.
My head is starting to hurt again.

  • Safari won't open any website

Network diagnostics say that WiFi is good, network settings are good, ISP is good, etc.  And other devices on my network are connecting to the web without issues.  But my macbook air will not connect to any website.

I get a message that Safari cannot access the webpage because the server is not responding.  However, all my other devices are connecting with no problem.  I just got off the phone with Apple Support and after doing some trouble-shooting and determining that the mba is fine, he asked me to cycle power on the modem and router.  After doing this, the mba connected to the internet with no problem.  I asked him why would the mba need the router to reboot if my other devices are ok?  He said the mba needed to reset its connection.  It's still a mystery to me, but at least now I know what to do.
BTW, OS is 10.7.4 and Safari is 6.0.
Thanks for replying.  Maybe my experience will help someone else.

  • Safari won't play youtube videos anymore. I've never had trouble in the past. I switched to chrome but then back to safari and changed the default browser to safari. Now safari won't open any sites that require a user and password. Any suggestions?

    Hello everyone,
I've recently been getting error messages on youtube videos when using safari. This never used to happen. I tried using chrome but it didn't take care of the problem. When I set my default browser back to safari, safari won't open any websites that require a username and password. Any suggestions?

My case is different from those listed below.  First, I'm running OS X 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5.
    My problem is this:
I run a Google search, say, "youtube somesong", and from the hit list returned from google I
pick some selection. Youtube launches and plays the video without problems.  However, when
i click on any of the alternate videos from the page's  vertical list, only the name of the chosen video
appears beneath the video I just watched.  The new selection itself is not loaded by Safari.
This occurs for any selection I choose.  My way around this problem is to force a Safari reload of
the page by using the keyboard shortcut, Command-R.  This fills in the old video window with the
video I just chose.  Can I conclude that this is a Safari issue alone, or is it a Safari/Youtube combo gotcha?  Anyway, the present condition *****.
This problem began sometime after i upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I have reset Safari and have also
deleted the Youtube.com Cache, Cookies, and Local Storage from the Privacy settings under
System Preferences. I have also tested the problem by running Safari in 32 bit mode (no luck there).
If anyone out there has experienced this scenario, I sure could use a little help here.

  • Safari won't open password protected websites.

I've been having this issue since I installed Leopard and it's been a real drag.
Safari won't open protected web directories. When I attempt to go to those sites Safari just makes me wait. Normally it should drop down the little username and password authentication box.
I've tried re-installing Safari from the Leopard CD ROM - same problem.
The problem doesn't seen to persist when I try from a Guest Account so I know it has to do with my particular account.
It seems many other users are having this issue as I've come across some other useful forums that address this issue: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=73170
I've tried all of these suggested fixes with no luck:
-Trash the "login.keychain" file located in the Keychains in the users Home folder. (Users/yourname/Library/Keychains/)
    -Repairing permissions in Disk Utility
-Changing my firewall port to something other than 80.
-Adding X509Anchors and X509Certificates to my keychain.
...unfortunately none of these fix the problem for me.
The only thing that fixes the issue is to "Reset Safari" from the Safari menu. This really ***** because it erases all of my history, passwords, etc. This fix also seems only temporary. After about 3 days the issue starts up again. Joy. Is there ANY other option?
    Truly frustrated with this.

Thanks. Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I tried deleting the bookmark and visiting the site by typing in the address. The same problem still persists. I just sit there staring at the loading symbol spin and spin - hypnotized with anticipation.
    Any other ideas out there?

  • Safari won't open the time warner cable server

safari won't open the time warner cable server, I'm trying to watch amc shows through the website, and it asks you to pick a server to login to. I chose my time warner cable server and it won't connect. ATandT works, but mine won't. I've tried restarting and downloading newer versions but it is still not working.

    Don’t worry about it.
I’m going to cancel the subscription.
I maged to download it and install it, but it’s constantly damaged and won’t open.
I may as well just forget it and cancel.

  • Safari won't open google, facebook and other selected sites?

My internet is working but for some reason safari won't open selected sites - seems like it's loading and says "contacting (website)" and nothing happens. Any advice?

    Hi,
I tried doing that, still won't open google?
After a few minutes of waiting I am now getting this error message:
    Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.google.ca/”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
It says "lost network connection" but all other internet applications continue to run...So I am clearly not losing my connection.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much.

  • Downloaded Lion 10.7.4. Safari won't open

Downloaded Lion 10.7.4.  Safari won't open.  I can get on internet through app store, and itunes, but Safari gives me error messages, and says to reopen.
I am writing this question on my IPad.

    From Wikipedia:
Safari 6.0 was previously known as Safari 5.2 until Apple announced the change at WWDC 2012. The stable release of Safari 6 coincided with the release of OS X Mountain Lion on July 25, 2012, and is integrated into the OS. As Apple integrated it with Mountain Lion, it is no longer available for download from the Apple website or other sources. Apple released Safari 6 via Software Update for users of OS X Lion. It has not been released for OS X versions prior to Lion or for Windows, and Apple has not made any statements either confirming or denying future updates at this time.

  • Safari won't open since I installed Firefox.

Safari won't open since I installed Firefox. I keep getting a window that asks me if I want to "Reopen" Safari in a large window that includes error messages, lots of them. I click on "Reopen" and a smaller window opens up with the same option to "Reopen", but Safari just goes back to the large window again; the one with all the error messages.

Quit the application. Force quit if necessary.
Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

  • Safari won't open / enlarge image thumbnails

    Hello,
When on websites that have image galleries or thumbnails to enlarge, such as Carsales / Real Estate style websites, Safari won't open or enlarge the image when clicked upon.
This seems to be only as of the latest Java update.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried 'removing all website data' and that hasn't seemed to help.
    Thank you!

You didn't update JavaScript. You installed the "DownLite" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Hi, can anyone help with the following problem? safari doesn't open a website (www.nasza-klasa.pl) bcs it cannot find the server. tried to reset safari, didn't help. tried firefox as well, same result. the website can be opened with iexplorer on a pc without any problems. this since couple of days, didn't have the problem before.. thx in advance for any hints!

I have experienced the same problems Brand new iMac for Christmas came with Tiger installed did and update to Leopard that came with the computer. Can't connect to certain websites and some won't load the associated graphics, i.e. apple.com, yahoo.com, and gmail. Called Apple support they suggest resetting safari, worked for a couple of hours. Called back and they suggested power off iMac disconnect the cat5 from the computer, power down the router, power down the dsl modem, wait 3 minutes. Then restart the modem, router and then connect the cat. They explained that this would help the iMac correct the problem of connecting to the DNS server. This solution was also short lived, a few hours. I also have experienced problems associated with servers in Mail and iTunes. total time on phone with support including wait time 3 hours. This is getting old. Any ideas on workarounds I am happy to try. I will download firefox and give that a try. I have two other laptops one windows, and the other a MacBook and have not problems connecting to the internet.

  • Safari won`t open private pages made in iweb

Safari won`t open private pages made in iweb, but it works in Firefox! Why is this happening! It even works in internet explorer! But in Safari it doesn`t, it just can`t load the page, the login dialog doesn`t show up, it just stand there trying to load the page! Please help?

Here is what finally worked for me based on a post I saw on another thread. Apparently the login.keychain file for the use is corrupted.
Trash the "login.keychain" file located in the Keychains in the users Home folder.
    (Users/yourname/Library/Keychains/
Then access the site once more. It now works as expected. You will need to authenticate the new keychain file and grant access when needed for the website to use your login keychain.
