Safari won't play youtube audio

Safari will not play the audio on Youtube videos. I unenrolled from the Safari HTML5 study (found as an answer to another question), but that did not work. Audio plays on Firefox.

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin, so try troubleshooting ...
Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important uninstall the currently installled plugin first.
Then launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

I've recently been getting error messages on youtube videos when using safari. This never used to happen. I tried using chrome but it didn't take care of the problem. When I set my default browser back to safari, safari won't open any websites that require a username and password. Any suggestions?

My case is different from those listed below. First, I'm running OS X 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5.
My problem is this:
I run a Google search, say, "youtube somesong", and from the hit list returned from google I
pick some selection. Youtube launches and plays the video without problems. However, when
i click on any of the alternate videos from the page's vertical list, only the name of the chosen video
appears beneath the video I just watched. The new selection itself is not loaded by Safari.
This occurs for any selection I choose. My way around this problem is to force a Safari reload of
the page by using the keyboard shortcut, Command-R. This fills in the old video window with the
video I just chose. Can I conclude that this is a Safari issue alone, or is it a Safari/Youtube combo gotcha? Anyway, the present condition *****.
This problem began sometime after i upgraded to Mountain Lion. I have reset Safari and have also
deleted the Youtube.com Cache, Cookies, and Local Storage from the Privacy settings under
System Preferences. I have also tested the problem by running Safari in 32 bit mode (no luck there).
If anyone out there has experienced this scenario, I sure could use a little help here.

I recently updated my iPad to iOS 6.0.1, now Safari won't play audio files in any format. Error: "Cannot play audio file." Previously, it worked fine. I tried downloading and using GoogleChrome and Opera Mini, and these also won't play audio. What's up??

Solved the problem. It seems that once iOS 6.0.1 installed, it caused all of my browsers to mishandle audio files. When I reset the iPad, that cleared up the problem.
Before upgrading to iOS 6, my browsers would "autoplay" the sound files. After iOS 6, "autoplay" is disabled so you have to manually click play to play them.
Nonetheless, everything is working fine again except for "autoplay," which I can live with.

Safari won't play an embedded slideshow in my website.
It has been working for several months. It still works with firefox, but as i am a preferred mac and safari user, it bothers me for other safari users who may visit my site.

Click on the Prey link on the lefthand side. It opens, and when you use the play slide manually, you can see that the pics are there. For some reason the slideshow will not play.
Any ideas?

as you may know - your website simply links to this page at theage.com.au
that page doesn't do much except load a Flash-based slideshow here
the slideshow is created by some software called "Soundslides" and there is a known bug ( now fixed it seems, but would require theage.com.au to put new versions of soundslider.swf on their system....or make some other changes to the way their servers deal with audio.
I guess you could innocently tell theage.com.au that their page fails on Safari ( also Opera and Realplayer for me ) & hope they fix it.... maybe even point 'em to the fix? .
ahem, err failing that, your only option 'd be to get your web guy to make the slideshow on your own website's server; although copyright over the images/sound might be an issue?. If you go that route, the basic soundslider software is pretty cheap ( US $40 ) from http://soundslides.com/ and instructions here
I should add that once you've got images/sound that you are entitled to use.... there are any number of free methods to make a similar slideshow.

I have windows 8.1 and firefox won't play youtube videos but IE will. I have tried reinstalling firefox, flash, java. Resetting firefox don't help, disabled hardware acceleration, protected mode 0 in the mms.cfg file. Nothing will play on youtube in firefox. It says "an error has occured, please try again later". The ads play fine though. Everything plays fine in IE. I have tried different versions of flash also with no luck. I even restored the system to a previous iso image with no luck. Does anyone have a solution?

It maybe because your javascript is disabled .
You can check the javascript.enabled pref on the about:config page.

How do you play YouTube audio with the screen off with iPod 5th gen?

I used to own a 2nd gen iPod touch, which ran on an ios 4.2.1 system, that allowed me to play YouTube with the screen off. Ever since I got iPod 5 which came with ios 7, let's say I am kinda still getting the hang of how everything works. I still would like to play YouTube while the screen is off, but seem to not know how. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Hi there, you can download itube, it's in the app store, and that allows you to save youtube videos for offline play. Also, you can play youtube audio with the screen off, even without a third party app. Click on a video. When it's playing, press the lock button. Press it again, to wake the device up. You should see your video on the front of the display, with a play button. Click it, and it will start playing even if the device is off. Hope I helped, ~Samuel.

Droid Razr Bug. Won't play streaming audio from websites.

My Droid Razr won't play streamed audio from a website and won't play .wav files attached to e-mails. That's annoying.
Motorola tech support said problem will be fixed upon next upgrade of Android OS.
My phone is currently running Android OS 2.3.5.
Does anyone now of a quicker fix?

i got the same issue on my ipod. i figured the whole idea of converting the format would solve the issue. never really found out how to solve it. i'll be watching this post to see if anyone has a solve for this issue.

Bravia TV Won't Play YouTube

Hi, I bought the Sony Bravia KD-55X850B 4K TV earlier this year but suddenly it won't play YouTube videos. All was fine before. Is there something wrong with the app on the TV? The message is "Sorry Cannot Play This Video" - first it was for live streaming stuff and then all videos. Highly annoying. And yes the TV is correctly connected to the internet.

I have my mid 2010 macbook pro. Just last night while using facebook i tried to watch a video and it won't play and it says that i need update adobe flash. But when i watch youtube videos on safari it plays perfectly fine. Is there a problem with facebook concerning adobe flash?.................please help.......i need some answers!!!

Safari 3.2.1 Won't Play Youtube

I can't seem to get Safari 3.2.1 to play Youtube videos. The entire page seems to load up OK just that the video part does not load.
I've performed the following to no luck:-
1.) Re-installed 3.2.1
2.) Re-installed Adobe Flash
3.) Full reset of Safari

I just checked the URL on the YouTube page in your photo, and it worked fine for me - although I am not a great fan of butternut squash!
So, we should be able to get it to work for you as well.
When you say you reinstalled Flash, which version? I use version 10.
It might be worth uninstalling, then reinstalling FlashPlayer again:

Yosemite 10.10.1 causing Safari not to play YouTube videos...

Hi guys/girls,
I installed Yosemite on my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) when it was first released and I had no issues whatsoever.
Last night I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 and now all of a sudden Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) won't play any YouTube videos. All I get is a black screen with a little audio clipping.
When using Firefox (v32.1.1) or Chrome (v38.0.2125.122) everything works ok.
Any thoughts?

The strange thing I'm finding some mixed results:
1) Some videos give me an error message but then play ok

it came to my attention that my Safari (latest version) won't play any video on the site "www.collegehumor.com". YouTube and every other popular site works fine for me. After googling this problem, I tried to play the videos with a different user; without success. After that, I uninstalled the Flash Player and reinstalled it (latest version), because this was suggested by my google searches... but I still can't play any video on collegehumor.com.
Has anyone any idea what the problem might be?

Premier Pro CC won't play / render audio or video after today's update

Foolishly I allowed CC to update my software ( CC 2014.2 ) and now it won't play or render video or audio. It will allow me to scrub through and see the video, but the play button just turns to a square and does nothing.. Trying to render anything does even less.
This behavior can be repeated in both in the source window, as well as the program window when I scrub the timeline.
Premier Pro worked fine yesterday, with the same files. I booted onto a back up drive that had my old CC program cloned... And it still works fine.. I think it's safe to eliminate hardware issues as well as file / file types...
I have deleted the Premier Pro app and reinstalled, I have reset the preferences, I have dumped the media cache.
I have tried to set up new files, both on the internal hard drive, as well as an external... ( both work fine with the old system backup )
Still the same NON results...
Running on an iMac, using OS 10.8.5
Processor 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated....
