Tryin to get to new sight. Get reply: Safari cannot open too many redirects
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
Sometimes it helps to reset your iPad as well. You will not lose any data if you reset your iPad like this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

"too many redirects occurred..."
Hello All!
I've used Safari extensively and for a long time, and been quite happy with it.
(for the moment on one of our older Macs; a White MacBook OS 10.5.8 with Safari 5.0.6)
Today I've been having an issue not experienced before, when trying to go to webpages I've often visited, such as my internet bank and my earthlink webmail, and any of the twitter accounts which I follow.
Instead of getting directly to the web address which I enter, there is sometimes an alert about the lack of a proper 'certificate', and the address in the browser switches immediately to a very long address which begins like this:
"http://guidetest.a.id.opendns.com/url=guidetest%2Ea%2Eid%2Eopendns%2Ecom%2F%3Fur l" and goes on for hundreds of characters.
This address causes Safari to respond with:
Failed to open page
Safari can't open page
Too many redirects occurred trying to open (again the same interminable address).
Why is this happening? I've tried resetting Safari, restarting my computer. But I've not accepted or used the 'certificates' which caused the alerts.
So I'm blocked from using webmail on this computer ( but we have 6 others) until I discover what the fix is.
I'd be delighted if this is easily solved! Thanks Andy!
If I recall correctly, there was a number close to those you gave, but slightly different 208.67.222.220
I erased it and put in the two Google DNS which you listed,
and then (after trying too quickly to see if the changes helped) I applied/saved the changes!
It seems to work! I now could go directly to the webpages I mentioned above.
Andy, I should have clicked "this solved my problem" but I only clicked "this helped me" because the phenomenon remained until I'd the sense to apply the changes.
There are three other numbers on the DNS list which are greyed out and I don't seem to be able to change, they appear to be related to the service and country in which I'm located. -
Hi there,
Ive been trying to open research articles through google scholar, when i click to open the page it doesnt load and comes up with Safari cant open the page, too many redirect occured trying to open (then the web address). This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which is then redirected to open the original page.
This also happens when i access the databases through my universitys library web page - and it still wont let me load even the actual webpage let along particular article.
This is happening on my ipad as well - but this is not happening on my iphone or on my other lap top which is not an APPLE.
i know its not my internet as i used the same internet on the other comp and i also used it as wifi and without out wifi on my iphone.
PLEASE HELP! i need to study!!
thanksSafari 6

I was in my gmail and forwarding a message when I was "kicked out" because the screen stated that there had been "too many redirects". I am technically deficient and don't know what that means. I tried to reset Safari but that did not correct the problem. How would I fix this to be able to access gmail? Thank you.
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and website data:
Click “Remove All Website Data” button.

Too many redirects - Safari can't open page - Domainmonster to iWeb problem
I am trying to publish my website made with iWeb - I purchased a domain from Domainmonster.
onlineiwthme.net - and by looking around the web I think I have done the whole CNAME thing correctly.
When I go to my mobile me account summary it says - Personal Domain = www.onlinewithme.net
So I think it should be OK.
I clicked publish in iWeb and it seemed to work but when I try my domain I just get the following message: Safari can’t open the page.
Too many redirects occurred trying to open “http://www.onlinewithme.net/”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.OK I still could net get it sorted so I contacted Domainmonsters help desk and below is the nice clear answer to my problems.
I add it here in case anybody else has problems.
Ethiod, thank you very much for you help, regardless, much appreciated that you at least tried to help.
Thank you for contacting Domainmonster.com.
1. Log in to your Domainmonster.com account and choose to manage your domain by highlighting it on the right hand menu and clicking “Manage”.
2. Choose “Website Content” then click “Web Forwarding”.
3. Within Web Forwarding set-up non-framed web forwarding to point to www.onlinewithme.net – this will forward the root record (non www.) to the www. address – meaning that either http://onlinewithme.net or http://www.onlinewithme.net will go to the correct location.
4. Once saved, click on the “ > onlinewithme.net Control Panel” breadcrumb at the top of the page to take you back to your control panel.
5. Click on “Manage DNS”.
6. Within DNS settings delete the A Record for www. (check box to the right hand side and then click “save DNS Updates”)
a. Now add a CNAME Record with the following settings:
i. Alias: www
ii. Address: web.me.com
7. You will now have pointed your www. record to your web.me.com account.
8. You will need to ensure that your iWeb account is correctly set-up to expect your domain. You can do this by specifying a Personal Domain (www.onlinewithme.net). Apple have provided a tutorial here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1107

"Safari cannot open the page – 'too many redirects'"
Problem
iPad issue impacting our secure website clients. Error message reads “Safari cannot open the page – ‘too many redirects’”
History:
Recently, some of our secure website clients using Mac/Safari 4.0.5 faced issues, all related to one common problem that went away with Safari 5.0 & Mac OS updates. On all the three occasions, we observed that the error occurred when the HTTPS redirects contained the port number in the URL. During our discussions with Applecare personnel (case number was 350144) we understood that there have been problems with Safari 4.0.5 "not being able to handle port numbers in the URL properly". The issue went away with the launch of Safari 5 and Mac OS updates which followed the browser release.
Understandably, the resolution to the issue was fairly opaque and if I were to hazard a guess on what the problem could have been it should probably be something to do with Safari not being able to read cookies after these redirects.
Questions
1) Have any of you encountered such a problem on Mac/Safari 4.0.5 and are now facing on iPad?
2) Any workarounds / solutions / learning that you have come across and can share
Thanks!!Hi and welcome...
On a Mac. HTTPS redirects can be the result of proxies. Open System Preferences / Network. Click: Advanced tab then click: Proxies
If any of the boxes on the left under: *Select a protocol to configure* are selected, deselect, click OK.
Here's just one example of the HTTPS / Proxy issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12255869
For Safari - iPad. Tap Settings / Wi Fi / Select your network by tapping the blue arrow. Configure network settings there.

How do I solve problem that safari cannot open because of too many redirects?
How do I fix problem that safari can't open because of too many redirects?
Try clearing the browser cache and delete any cookies for that site. If that doesn't resolve it, then that's a problem with the web-site itself, so unless it is your own website, you can't fix it.
Often it's a bug in the website code that detects what device/browser you are using and it gets stuck in a re-direct loop. You could contact the website developers and inform them. -
Safari: "Could not open the page, too many redirects"
IPAD - Safari: "Could not open the page, too many redirects"
Only one site - but this site works great on other IPADWhat I have done - with no positive results:
Settings | Safari | Clear History | Clear cookies & Data
Also used different WIFI networks -

John E Statonhey, i got the same problem before but maybe this solve the problem to you. (on ipad)
1. go to setting and tap "general"
2. in privacy section see "accept cookies" and select "from visited"
some website manage their domain with cookies, a lot of them. and is more frequently on marketing web sites, like banks, shopping, etc...
be sure to select "fraud warning" always. is up to you to accept cookies or not. affortunatly, u can always turn off and on.
