  • Found a bug, Safari log out sites with Private Browsing

    When I click Private Browsing, every site I visit with Safari is logged out. When I turn off Private Browsing, I'm automatically logged in. This was not the behavior in Snow Leopard or earlier (I don't believe).
    This was driving me crazy...it's a real PITA to log in to every site (including the ones where you're not autosaving the password, such as financial sites, etc.)
    I reported it to apple.com/feedback but thougth I'd share it with the community in case anyone else noticed it.

    #2 makes sense and that fits with what Private Browsing should be all about
    #1 doesn't make sense, since, as soon as you exit Private Browsing a user that has access to the machine, has access to all sites. Accordingly, it's not very private nor secure. In fact the big PRIVATE that appears on the address bar invites curiousity and folks will click it, and be offered the option to end Private Browsing (and thus, full access).
    In any event, pre Lion, I believe, this wasn't the case...although now I'm not sure, as I only used Private Browsing a few times.

  • I am the only one having problems with private browsing. When I go from private browsing to regular it gets stuck and I have to get out and kill the safari app so safari can work again

    Also safari acts really dumb

    Reset your phone first, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up, then try safari again.

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

    When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

    With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

  • Problems with the browser

    Hello,
    I make an aplication where I manage projects, accesing a apex as developer and run my application and it works well.
    Then I access to the application as final user and when I modify any data, the aplication does not save the values changed.
    What Can I do?

    What Can I do?
    1. Please tell us your first name and include it in your handle and/or profile to help us.
    2. Tell us why the subject of this post is "Problems with the browser".
    3. Check your authorization schemes, maybe they enable/disable certain functionality based on who is logged in. But if you developed the app you should already know this, so that's just a wild guess.
    4. Show a detailed example, preferably by putting the application on apex.oracle.com to show one of the pages that doesn't do what you want.

  • Problem with the browse sequence back and browse sequence next widget placed in the screen layout

    Hi,
    Some basics: We are using Robohelp 10 to  generate multiscreen  html5 output. We used the pharmaceutical  screen layout downloaded from:  http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/robohelp-screen-profiles-layouts.html but modified it to match our GUI.
    We are having a problem with the browse sequence back and browse sequence next buttons placed in the screen layout from the widgets tool bar. We are in no way experts at this part of Robohelp...and the css portion of all this is a bit of mystery but we have managed to get mostly what we need. Now we just need these buttons to work. In the past we used Airhelp and things worked great. Can anyone help us understand why the sequence buttons are not showing up in the output even though it does in the topic preview?
    Also
    This shows up in the  layout.css file:
    a.wBSBackButton {
                    margin: 0 8pt 0 0;
                    padding: 0;
                    background-color: transparent;
    img.wBSBackButton {
                    border: none;
    a.wBSNextButton {
                    margin: 0 8pt 0 0;
                    padding: 0;
                    background-color: transparent;
    img.wBSNextButton {
                    border: none;
    Also btw, I forgot to mention that we are linking our FrameMaker files.
    Appreciate the help.
    Thanks!

    Hello Cantadd,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information, take a look at:
    iOS: Safari web settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1677
    To visit sites without making history, turn Private on or off in Safari.
    To turn on private browsing, tap Safari, then tap in the lower-right corner. Tap Private to turn private browsing on.

  • Safari still creating website history with Private browsing on

    Since downloading Lion I have noticed that despite having Private Browsing on Safari regulalry records a history of web sites visited. It doesn't do it all the time but I now have no confidence in this faciltiy. Has anyone else had the same problem?

    This issue appears to be effecting Safari 5.1 in general, as I see this behavior both under Mac OS X 10.6.8 and OS X Lion 10.7. Still hoping to find a resolution, but I may suggest using "Report bugs to Apple..." under the Safari menu to ensure they are aware of this issue in the meantime.

  • Fix many web access problems with IFS 9.0.1 on Solaris (and other OS's)...

    When the installation is done according to the documentation,
    web access does not work because the scripts that add entries to
    the jserv.properties file add duplicate references to
    wrapper.env and wrapper.classpath. Look at the jserv.properties
    file below and look at the remarked-out (#) lines of the
    duplicate references. For example, look at the references to the
    wrapper.env=LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    Oracle, please note this bug so the web access problems are
    minimized when the product is intstalled.
    Thank you,

    About your home page; Manually set up Firefox with the window(s) and tab(s)
    the way you want them to be. Then;
    '''''Firefox Options > General > Homepage'''''.
    Press the button labeled ''''Use Current'''.'
    =====================================
    Open a new window or tab. In the address bar, type '''''about:config'''''.
    If a warning screen comes up, press the '''''Be Careful''''' button.
    This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run.
    At the top of the screen is a search bar. Enter '''''browser.newtab.url'''''
    and press enter. '''''browser.newtab.url'''''
    tells Firefox what to show when a new tab is opened.
    If you want, right click and select '''''Modify'''''. You can change the
    setting to;<BR><BR>about:home (Firefox default home page),<BR>
    about:newtab (shows the sites most visited),<BR>
    about:blank (a blank page),<BR>
    or you can enter any web page you want.<BR><BR>
    The same instructions are used for the new window setting, listed as
    '''''browser.startup.homepage'''''.

  • How do I turn off private browsing in settings/safari? There is no private browsing option??

    How do I turn off private browsing in safari?  I have a black interface screen with the msg " please turn off private browsing go into settings/safari and private browsing and turn it off" But there is no private browsing option in settings on safari?? Stumped!!

    On Safari Screen

  • In Firefox 23, with private browsing enabled, why are the addresses of websites visited being added to the file places.sqlite?

    In Firefox documentation it is claimed that while a user is in private browsing Cached Web Content, Offline Web Content or User Data will be saved. I am using Firefox beta 23. With 'do not track' and 'private browsing' enabled.
    An examination of the file places.sqlite stored in my profile shows it is adding to the file the addresses of every website I visit. This information is not cleared when I close Firefox. When I have closed Firefox I have deleted the file but it reappears unchanged at each fresh machine start.
    As I regularly update my versions of Firefox and the file is one carried over with each update the entries in places.sqlite also record my browsing history over a long period - all of it is there whether I had private browsing enabled or not.
    How is this true private browsing when this file keeps a complete record of browsing history?

    Further to: In order to delete the now very large ''places.sqlite'' I exported my Bookmarks to a html file. Then from my profile I deleted the 9 ''bookmark.json'' files in the folder''' bookmarkbackups'''.
    With Firefox shutdown I then deleted ''places.sqlite''. Then with Firefox open I imported the html bookmark file.
    The new ''places.sqlite'' generated now only contains the links kept in Bookmarks. I do not yet know if this has solved the problem. I will use the Firefox browser for a couple of days without adding any bookmarks and then check the ''places.sqlite'' file again.

  • Safari/Mail certificate problem with gmail/google

    Here is my problem:
    I have set-up Mail to use my gmail account through POP. Since yesterday, when I try to get or send mail, mail gives me the error:
    Unable to verify SSL server pop.gmail.com
    Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "pop.gmail.com'. The error was:
    You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be "pop.gmail.com', and putting your confidential information at risk. Would you like to continue anyway?
    I then have the option to show the certificate,cancel or continue. If I hit Continue, nothing happens and mail set itself to offline. If I force Mail back online (Menu Mailbox/Go Online), when it goes on the next automatic check, it turns back offline. After hours of google search, I also tried the option to show the certificate, then drag the icon of the certificate to the desktop, then open the certificate with Keychain in order to add it to the keychain but this did not work for me, keychain refused to open it and if I double-click it on the desktop it opens as a clipping content. If I change the typre/creator to force Keychain to open it, then I got an error "Unable to import an item".
    I then tried to access gmail within Safari (not through POP) and I got this error when I tried to login:
    Safri cannot establish a secure connection to www.google.com
    At the same time, I had no problem to access it with Firefox. Back to google search, I tried to use Safari debug menu to set the security to "Performs Lax Certificate Checks" and then I could access my gmail with Safari. However the problem persists in Mail.
    I believe this is a system-wide certificate issue (Firefox not affected because of a diffrent handling of certificates?not much knowledge about certificates). I tried all the standard troubleshooting:
    re-boot, logoff, repair permissions, reapply latest security updates, reapply latest OS update, reset Safari, clean-up caches, discarded all mail preferences,clear-up keychain of any google/gmail.
    Finally I also found in my searches to try ro download a certicate from Thawte (ThawtePremiumServerCA.cer) and add it to my keychain but this does not solve the problem.
    Help will be greatly appreciated
    System info: iMac G5 1.6, 1Gb RAM, OS X 10.3.9 (everything up to date according to Software update), internet connection through Airport extreme base station.

    Are you saying that this is a well-recognised issue?
    Can we assume that the reason for not fixing it is that Nokia want people to use Nokia Messaging instead? It came free with my phone and I did try it. It connected & synchronised well but contacts in headers kept appearing in quotes ("") and when I checked my email from my main IMAP client my sent items included incomplete versions of my emails as well as the finished email - as if it was sending drafts.
    I guess I'm sticking with MfE for calendar and IMAP for email...
