Safaris symbol bar disappears constantly

hi,
sometimes, when I start the safari my symbol bar with the URL bar and the forward / backward buttons is completely gone.
I can get the symbol bar back via the view-menu.
But it really starts to annoy me.
I don't know why and when it happens. But it happens about every fifth time I start the Safari.
I tried to delete the preference-plist, I have reinstalled the Safari, deinstalled the adblock-plugin and resetted the safari (deleted the cache and all that).
I don't know what else to do ...
My only plugin in use is know ClickToFlash. I reinstalled that ... don't think that ClickToFlash is the problem ...
(no other plugins installed)
thanks for any help / suggestions!

HI,
If you are running 10.5.6, then update your system software to 10.5.8. Click the Apple Menu  / Software Updates.
And try Safari maintenance...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
You can go here for help to trouble shoot 3rd party plugins and input managers ... just in case.

If you made Web Clip widgets, the webpage that it is the source of a clipping might be causing the problemt. Go into Dashboard and remove any web clip widgets. Then, if you can access the original website, re-create the widgets and see if the issue persists.
Try a new user account. Launch Safari and see if the problem persists. If so, the issue is system wide and you need to perform either an Archive and Install or Erase and Install, information here.

*If you do either install option make sure and back up all important data first to an external source.*

Safari status bar disappears. I have tried clicking on show status bar, under the View tab and it will only appear when I move the cursor to the top of the screen. I can not minimize the open page, only full screen or close the browser. Any idea how the rectify this issue?

One enters and exits full-screen with control+command+F keys. This is on the View menu in Safari. Optionally, the green traffic light in your browser title bar, if you roll over it, has the full-screen control it it. While in full-screen mode with Safari, moving your mouse pointer virtually up, and off-screen reveals the Safari title bar again, and you can click the green traffic light to exit full-screen mode.
You can hide/show the status bar by simply typing command+/. This too, is on the Safari View menu. and in 10.10.1 — it works reliably for me.

  • My safari menu bar disappeared. Any ideas how to get it back?

The safari menu bar normally at the top of the screen has disappeared suddenly and i dont know how to get ut back. has this happened before or does anyone have ideas on how to fix it?

App icons at the bottom of the page? Do you mean the icons in your Dock?
    Check System Preferences > Dock
See if you have: Automatically hide and show the Dock selected.
Which Mac OS X do you have installed?
And check System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver
See if you have:   Translucent menu bar   selected.

  • Safari URL bar disappeared

The URL bar on Safari disappeared and when I open a 'new tab' under 'file' a new tab appears but the tab says 'untitled' and a new browser does not open. I think I did something by mistake. What should I do? Please help me with a very non technical answer. I tried resetting to the default settings but this did not help.

I think I may not have explained my problem well. Until I did something which I probably should not have done, I could simply type a URL and the given web site would appear. Now, the only way I can get to a URL is to go to yahoo or google, do a search for the URL and then click on the URL when it is listed among the results for the search. I want to get the browser back to the way it way before and have it provide me with the option of typing in a URL near the top of the screen. I am neither asking how to include a URL in the toolbar nor how to include a URL as a favorite.
    Does this help?
    Thank you.

  • Safari bookmarks bar disappears - even when settings set to display

Not sure if anyone else has this bug, but the bookmarks bar in Safari disappears even after the option is turned on in Settings/Safari.
    Ideas?

Another detail is that I am set to sync bookmarks via MobileMe. That is working fine.

My safari menu bar is missing.  The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc.  I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.  Any ideas how to retrieve it?  Thanks.

I too was having the same problem However, I could access both the menu bar and the dock by hovering my mouse over them so it wasn't a huge problem but I prefered having it there anyway. I was not in full screen mode and I could still go into full screen mode if I wanted to.  I found the easiest solution was to just quit safai and restart it, but it might not work for you considering you couldn't access you menu bar either way.
I found this article that allows you to hide/show the menu bar and the dock through TextEdit (didn't work for me) http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2009/07/hide-the-menubar-or-dock-in-specific-app s.html It is pretty old so it might not work for lion and a bit risky if you don't know what you're doing so I wouldn't really recommend doing it this way.
And KSheppard, I know it's not really any of my buisness, but the way to get answers to a question isn't by insulting others and being quick-tempered. Even if you feel like you were insulted first, don't try snapping at people who aren't obligated to help you. Honestly, it just makes everything easier if everybody is cooperative and polite.

  • My menu and dock bar disappear when using safari

For some reason when I use safari both my menu and dock bar disappear!?! Is this a new update and if not (or if so) can I get them both back while browsing the web? Also both menu bars will reappear when I scroll over them and I am able to "turn off hiding" on the dock bar; however, the dock bar disappears again once I switch to another program (pages, etc.). Then I have to go back and turn off hiding again. I can't get the menu bar to stick around at all. Please help!

This has happened to me before and it took me a long time to work it out.
But all you need to do is froce quit safari or any application that this is happening to and start the application again.
    Hope it works.

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
