Safe Download of Ringtone

Very new owner of an iPhone and not very technical. I'm old also and want Theme from a Summer Place as my ringtone. Where can I get an EASY and safe download? I don't care if it's free or not. I don't find it on the apple site.

You cannot download ringtone other than from Apple iTunes, App and iBook Store.
There are apps you can use to make ringtone or do it yourself for free using Mac iTunes or GarageBand.

This is probably not going to be good news but here are a few things before the final point:
1. If you have the ringtone in iTunes, you can simply transfer to iPhone (If you have backed up your iPhone 5s, it will be available in iTunes)
2. Click on iTunes store on the left, then in the right hand side, under "Quick Links", select "Purchased". See if you can locate your ringtone
3. Most Likely (This is the bad news) -> If you didn't backup your purchase, then it's most likely gone.
Note:
"Ringtones cannot be re-download for free.
Your need to transfer ringtone purchases to your iTunes Library for safe keeping."
"For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid. Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases."

Why can't I set my downloaded .dm ringtones as text and email notifications?

I have an HTC Incredible 2; I paid for and downloaded several ringtones from the Verizon store, two of which I wanted to specifically use as the text and email notification sounds. I then had the already discussed problem of not being able to find the newly downloaded ringtones immediately, but from the postings on here and the Adriod forums, I followed the directions to set up the folders titled Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms on my sdcard, and moved the downloaded ringtones into their respective folders. When I opened up the Personalize menu, under Sounds I was immediately able to find the ringtones I'd placed in the ringtone folder, but my phone wouldn't recognize the ringtons I'd placed in the Notifications folder.
I downloaded the app Zedge, downloaded specific Notification sounds (.mp3, and they work). I also downloaded .mp3 ringtones and then moved them into the Notifications folders, and THAT worked. The problem seems to be that these are .dm files? Is my phone unable to read .dm files as Notification sounds? Or is there something I missed? Something else I can do?
I looked all over for software that will convert .dm files to .mp3, found a suggestion calling for the deletion of a couple of the lines of code from within the .dm file using Notebook ++, but that didn't work. I don't remember seeing anywhere in the store that these ringtone files come in the protected .dm filetype; that many players will not be able to play them, and that I won't be able to use them for notification sounds?
Ay one have any suggestions? Verizon: am I doing something wrong?

Usually when you purchase ringtones from the Verizon store, you can only use them as ringtones. Since you have a smartphone, an app would be the best bet. You can find almost any song you're looking for in a free ringtone app, there's no need to purchase them.

Songs and ringtones are different types of music files. The file extension of Songs is mp4 and that of ringtones is mp4r. They are not interchangeable. You need to download the ringtone you want or convert the file with a ringtone creator app of which they are many for free in the App Store.

HT1689 downloaded a ringtone on my iPhone and it is no longer there.

I downloaded a ringtone from iTunes onto my iPhone, but it is no longer on my phone. It is still in my iTunes library on my computer. When i sync the phone, it will not sync that ringtone. It has a check mark by it like all the rest. I don't know how to fix it.

Chances are the file is of the incorrect type. It should be .m4r in iTunes.

Is it a good idea to uncheck the safe download box the safari preferences? I 've seen people talk about this & I'm new to the mac world. THANKS!

Yes it is highly advised to uncheck the safe download. It could cause your Mac to download and install malware, or spyware on your Mac. You want to be in total control of what is being download from the Internet. Take a look at Mac 101. Welcome to the world of Macs and the Apple support forums. To add a ringtone, download it from your computer and make sure it is a .m4r file. Once this is done, add it to your iTunes library (it will go in the ringtones section). Then sync your phone making sure that it syncs ringtones as well (check it in the ringtones tab).
Then in your sound preferences on your iPhone change the ringtone.

Hi all please help me. I downloaded a ringtone on my iPhone 4S but when tried to download the same ringtone on my ipad iTunes asked me to purchase the same ringtone again. For me I shouldn't be repurchasing the item for which I have already paid, it's not something that would make sense at all.

Ringtones (along with audiobooks) are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you want it on your iPad then you will need to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (it shoudl copy over to the Tones part of your iTunes library), and you can then sync it to your iPad

Did you try reinstalling the app and contacting the developer (there should be a contact link on the app's description page in the store) ? If you don't get a reply from the developer then you could try
'report a problem' link from the purchase history on your computer's iTunes instead of on your iPad : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

I've learned something. New. This must be recently changed. That last time I clicked on a Link I though was a dmg file and turned out it was and exe file my Macs wouldn't allow me to do so. But haven't tried recently everytime and exe file comes up I cancel. I gues I am used to the time everytime a Virus or some other nasty was downloaded it was packaged in and exe file and Macs owuldn't allow it. I suppose with the INtel guts now they can no longer refuse to download.

I just re-read your message - it sounds like you just purchased a song - not the ringtone. You actually need to "make" the ringtone in iTunes, buy-it, and then sync with iPhone
