Safe to downaload Realtek driver updates from Realtek or should I stick to HP updates only?

So I have an HP-083uk - specs are here:- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01946060&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&site=null&lang=en&p...
HP seem to have stopped updating the audio drivers for this a while ago, while I see Realtek keep updating drivers regularly.
Is it safe to install Realtek drivers or should I stick to HP drivers or should I look to MSI (my mobo manufacturer) for audio drivers?

Hi:
You should be fine using the Realtek drivers from their site. I use them all the time, and recommend to others to use them when they have issues--especially pertaining to audio issues post upgrading to Windows 7.
This is the driver page you need to get the drivers for your PC from Realtek.  Accept the agreement, download and install the driver for your OS.

  • January imagin Driver update

    Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, we are running 10.3.1 and are in the process of making a new zcm 11 zone to migrate everyone over too. The release notes for the January driver updates only refer to 10.3.2, as I'm moving away from that zone, I really don't want to upgrade it (and have to deal with the associated hassle it always introduces).
So my question is, can I apply the January Imaging Driver update to a 10.3.1 system?
    Thanks

  • Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update.
But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".
Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.
Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).
Is this an update or what?
What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

    Hi all
Could you try out DAA or DHTLightweight from my link and just install the Dolby software without overriding your Realtek Driver? I am not sure whether would it work, but worth a try. I have tried on Y460, W520 and G560 with great experience.
If the older Dolby software does not work with your existing Realtek driver, you could install the DAA or DHTLightweight with their driver to overwrite and see how it goes.
    Thank You

  • ALC888S Realtek Driver Update?

    Hello,
I have put a lot of work into perfecting my PC's video and audio over the last 2 years, the PC in question is a HP p6313w.
I had installed a powerful graphics card to the computer, equipped surround sound and the whole lot.
One of the things I had done, one day I got a wild hair and decided to update all of my drivers. Video and audio to be exact.
In this process, due to not knowing where to go, I had picked up a single trojan, which my AV had easily cleared without issue.
Also I had messed up my sound in fact and had to default back to the original.
Given the way I am with tinkering around on computers, I kept going, and eventually found a new driver for my soundcard.
In this new edition, instead of having a list of equalizer styles to choice from, I had a full blown equalizer I could customly tone and adjust. After playing with it daily over the course of several months, I had absolutely perfected it. Had amazing bass and amazing treble that sounded entirely lifelike.
With this said, I turned it off, and tried my old style of equalizer I had selected months back, and it was so fake sounded I could not stand it, as my custom toned equalizer was much, much better.
I have never had any problems with my computer, only that I had gathered so much on it over the years I decided to clean it.
Instead of doing each individual program one by one, I backed up EVERYTHING onto a terabyte USB HDD. One of the things I could not back up was this updated driver.
I rebooted and set things back up. Everything is running smooth as always (Freaking Love HP computers).
I entered a game and then heard the sound, and shrieked, I had forgot to get the driver update.
I have always been happy with my speakers and their sound, but after hearing what an equalizer customized to fit my own ear could do, I can I never go back to the basic driver.
The problem is, I have absolutely no idea where to find it this time, as it took me days to last time.
My PC is a HP p6313w.
My soundcard is a Realtek ALC888S HD audio model.
The current driver is dated as 9/15/2009 and the version is 6.0.1.5938. This is basic and default.
Can someone please, please point me to a later version than 6.0.1.5938?
I have checked the Realtek website, perhaps I am simply lost in their directories, but I could not even find a driver for it.
And I have went to Sound, Opened my driver properties, and then the additional properties, and as before "Update Driver" and "Roll Back Driver" are greyed out. Yet, I some how found an updated version than what I have before a long time ago. So I DO know it exists, and I do know the "Update Driver" button is not how I obtained it.
Can anyone point me towards a newer version than up above? My sound currently I can live without having brain hemoraging, but I still do not like it. To me this is necisary and I only ask for someone to point me to a new driver.
The reason for the last statement, I have read on multiple sites, plenty of people refusing to help people who want a newer, better version stating "If it works --YOU-- do not --NEED-- an update, suck it up and live with it." as a general tone in what is said to that person.
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
if you want the latest Realtek HD audio driver, you can download it at the link below. Accept the agreement and download the file for the OS you are running.
The driver is good for most, if not all of their HD audio chips.
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT...
The product specs for your PC indicate it shipped with W7 x64.
If that is correct, download and install the second driver on the list.

  • Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader Driver Update

I ran an HP Hardware Diagnostic Tools test on my USB card reader and I got errors on every test.
I am running Windows Vista 32 bit system.
I went into the device manager and tried to update drivers, but it says that is the latest driver.
My card reader is always has the green light on even when I'm not using it.  I couldn't find an updated driver on the HP site or the Realtek site.
If I install any of the driver update programs, it tells me that my driver is out of date, but I have to buy their program to get the update.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi:
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why the light is always on in your card reader.
    Does the card reader work?
Probably it thinks it has a card in one of the read slots.
One of the read heads might be damaged.

  • Can't print since last epson driver update from Software Update

I have a Epson Workforce 600 connected wirelessly which was working just fine until I installed the driver update yesterday which was provided via Software Update. Now, I can print a test page via the Epson Software and my computer can see the printer but when I hit the "print" button on print dialogs, nothing happens. It's very strange, it seems as if the click isn't even recognized.
I've tried printing from multiple programs and it's all the same. Only printing a test page from the Epson software works at this point. Any suggestions?

The probable cause of this is that the /Library/Caches/Epson folder is missing.
There are several threads here about this issue with Epson printers: try deleting the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON folder and then reinstalling the software through Software Update or from the Apple download site. After installing the software, restart, delete and re-add the printer. That should recreate the /Library/Caches/Epson folder, and you should be able to print.
    hope this helps.

  • Driver updates from vendors or Apple?

Hello!  quick question... I am running bootcamp 4, and Win7 is alerting me there is a newer driver available for the video card on my MBPr.  Is it reccomended to only use the "Windows Support" download file from apple when updating windows drivers?  Or can a user safely utilize a vendor-direct driver update?
    Thanks
    Craig

The graphic card driver that Boot Camp includes is very old, and it's recommended to use the driver that the vendor provides, in your case, from NVIDIA. You can get the most recent NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA website > http://www.nvidia.com This is important in order to get the maximum performance of your graphic card

  • WELL, WHAT DO WE DO NOW  ??? you answered me !! The problem is across all actions on the display on screen . No matter what I do. I tried getting driver updates from INTeL but even if I tell them it is a Mac the system sends me Drivers for Windows..

well I'm sure this MacBook Pro 13' (right outa the box) needs driver updates. Is it a retina version ?? I don't know..?? but before I take it back. I want to try everything.

MacOS X should already include the correct drivers as part of the OS. Figure it out: they built the MacBook Pro and they built the operating system...  they knew what they would be working with.
Mavericks is brand new and may have the odd fault, but if you're having basic display problems with a new machine it's probably hardware. Take your machine to a Mac Store. This is why they have warranties.
ps: using very large and/or bold characters is equated with shouting and is considered rude. plain old font works best.
p.s.s.: You posted in the Mac Pro forum (for the big workstation systems) not the MacBook Pro forum (for laptops.)

  • Satellite P200-1B6: Sound Driver update fails and HD-DVD Player doesn't work

I have just bought a Satellite P200-1B6 laptop and spent the day installing the updates recommended by the TEMPO program. One of these was a Sound Driver update from RealTek but on running this it fails about 80% of the way through with an error: 'Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!'.
Now the Toshiba HD DVD player fails to start with an error 'Unable to output the video to an external device.
Please switch your display device by pressing the Fn + F5 keys after ending the application'. I've tried this but it seems to have no effect.
I'm now regretting starting to update the installed drivers. Should I try to rebuild the machine using the recovery discs or is there another solution that someone has found? Or have others found the upgrade works?
    Any advice welcome

Last month I upgraded my PC Satellite P200 (BIOS, Driver ATI HD2600, Package VAP and HD-DVD Player).
But after this update, I was no longer be able to read my HD-DVDs
Error message was: "Unable to send the video to an external device. Please turn off the display device."
The problem was much of the update Realtek R1.76 (Realtek Sound Driver - 6.0.1.547 - 20/11/07) currently proposed on the site toshiba.
Indeed, the P200-1DE is equipped with Realtek ALC268 Audio Codec.
The latest update of this codec is R1.89. I downloaded from the site Realtek and it has allowed me to solve the problem.

  • Microsoft Update and Hardware driver updates

Question is do you use them or not?  I have the following driver updates showing up as optional for my machine:
    Intel - Network - Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
nVidia - Display - NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Realtek - Network - Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-R Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)
Synaptics - Input - Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad
I know I had talked to Toshiba Customer/Technical Service and that individual had told me not to use those.  I have been told by others to go ahead and use them since they are Windows/Microsoft "approved" from those manufacturers.
Thank you for your assistance and opinion.

The Toshiba support technican is right;  the 'others' are wrong.  Do not install driver updates from Microsoft.  They are 'generic' updates, and will not work correctly in your Toshiba.

  • W510 Driver Update

After running a driver update checker, I noticed that my Intel drivers seem to be quite old. So before I go downloading every single one, I'm wondering why the Lenovo Software Updater hasn't automatically updated these? Is there something I'm missing here?

    Hello,
Silicon manufacturers (AMD, Intel, nVidia, Qualcomm, Realtek, etc.) often package driver updates cumulatively, where drivers for several generations of older hardware are bundled into the current package, even though they themselves have not been updated.
You can always go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ and download the drivers manually from there.

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.

  • No HDMI output after driver updates

I have for almost a year succesfully been using my micro HDMI port on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for watching movies via my projector. Today, Driver Booster suggested I update 10 drivers that were outdated. So I did. It included some Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Network drivers, an Intel HD Graphics Family driver, Management Engine Interface, a few audio drivers, and afterwards my micro HDMI port is completely dead. The computer doesn't recognize anything when I plug I connect the HDMI cable. Usually the computer screen changes format, but now nothing happens.
I've tried to do an Open System Restore to undo recent changes, and it seems to have undone all the driver updates, but my micro HDMI port still is not working.
    Any suggestions?
ps: I'm aware of the issues with the micro HDMI port on the laptop being too recessed -- that is not my problem.

    Hi there @eddymath
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are having trouble with an HDMI connection, and I am happy to help you with this.
Since you have installed multiple drivers and tried a different operating system disk, I would suggest starting with a System Recovery to the factory image. That is assuming that before you started all of this, you had already made a backup of your important data, so it is safe. A system recovery to the factory image restores the system to how it was out of the box. I am assuming that along the way you did not already remove the existing recovery partitions.

Once that is done, and you have done any required updates, let me know if you are still having trouble with the HDMI, and specifics about the symptoms.
