Safe to install iTunes 6 with stand-alone QT already?

I'm buying my first iPod tomorrow (5th Gen iPod if you must know) so I guess I will have to install the newest version of itunes. Is it safe to install iTunes 6 with my standalone Quicktime 7.0.3 already installed?
I'm trying to avoid a mess hehe

what a party pooper!
OH-HUSH, of course there are many instances of problems here. That's what this board is for. hodge is just moaning because he can't actually communicate well enough for anyone to help him. Sure he's been "noticed". He also isn't being helped all that much. So pay him no heed.
I've installed iTunes6 on 6 XP computers and a virtual computer running on my iBook using Microsoft's Virtual PC (lets you pretend you have an XP machine to remind you why you bought a mac). None, and that's an important word, NONE of them have had an issue since I installed iTunes in Oct. 2003. There was one hardware conflict that I sorted out myself (it had been causing issues with other apps before I installed, so it doesn't really count), but all the other computers...absolutely fine.
If I extend that the the large circle of folks I know who use the application, not a one of them has had a problem either.
The bottom line is this: there a a vanishingly small number of folksin the the entire user base who have an issue. Most of them refuse to admit it could be an issue with their own PC, so Apple can't really do anything to fix the issues. The overwhelming majority (and by overwhelming, I mean over 99%) have no issues whatsoever. Of the remainder, most issues can be solved by changing a setting. Of the remainder of the remainder, there is a known hardware or software conflict that can be addressed and solved.
That leaves well under one percent who are not helpable. And most of them would be if they could get over themselves and actually participate in the help process.
Yes, hodge has been noticed. He's also been notified, and probably is on notice that his little rants are about to get him nulified. You choose to whom you will listen: him (here since dec 9, 2005; hasn't helped a soul; can't even help himself) or the rest of us (some here since Oct, 2003; thousands of success stories to cite; can fix problems on our own computers)
Sorry he found your post. This really is a helpful place.

Can Adobe Premiere CC 2014 be Installed as a Stand-Alone Upgrade without having to conflict with an Adobe CC suite on a given machine?

Yes, I have PrP CS6, CC and CC2014 all currently available on my system. The only pain I've experienced is that project files insist on opening in CC2014 even though I am wanting to primarily work in CC. If I tell the system to always open ALL .prproj files in CC, it seems to be very inconsistent and typically opens in CC2014.
CC2014 creates a new, separate app file and all (most?) prefs are stored in 8.0 folders.

how do I install itunes with Windows 7?  I always get a Windows Installer error or administrator error __

Have tried: download but do not install iTunes, then turn off virus protection and firewall, restart computer, login as admin, then run the iTunes insallation.  After it installs, restart virus protection and firewall and logout and back in as standard user.
Windows leaves installers running or still resident which conflict with the iTunes installer.

  • Cannot install Applcations in Stand-Alone Media image

Since updating from SCCM 2012 R2 to CU3 i have not been able to get our Stand-Alone media to work.
The Task Sequence is running fine until it gets to the install of the SCCM client. The installation of the client runs and then it restarts and then it runs it again, but when the task is done it goes to the login screen of Windows and ignores all the steps
which comes after the client install.
I have put in some alerts in order to find out exactly where is fails and the alert which runs prior to the client install is shown but the alert immediately after the install is never run.
I am beginning to supect that the client install is failling.
I have updated the package on the DP wihthout success.

    Hi Martin
Could you try adding a delay in the task sequence after the reboot, I have experienced a number of problems with SCCM 2012 R2 and reboots in task sequences. Microsoft Premier Support recommend creating a 5 minute delay. A shorter one may resolve the problem,
I would recommend trying this first.
The other thing to check is how are you preparing you boot media are you using a usb, if so is it formatted to NTFS or FAT32, I would always recommedn NTFS

  • MP3 CDs from iTunes on stand-alone DVD players

I was reading a couple of threads in this forum on that topic and here are my observations:
Until now I have been burning MP3 CDs in iTunes only as a backup, not for actual listening.
Recently we have purchased a rather cheap stand-alone Grundig DVD player for watching movies, it is also MP3 CD-R/DVD-R compatible. It will play any CD-R or DVD-R with MP3 files on it that has been burned in the standard ISO 9660 or Mac-Hybrid format, either on a PC or using Toast.
The player will not recognize any MP3 CD burned using iTunes 4.x or 6.x, either on an iBook G3 or a Powerbook G4. This is not due to bad or cheap media, all of those CDs show up in iTunes and play correctly. I'm using Sony CD-Rs and I haven't had a single problem with hundreds of them in the past few years. I use them mostly for data backup or for sending client's files to a print office.
If I copy the data from an iTunes MP3 CD to Toast and burn them as an MP3 CD using Toast, the CD will play fine in the DVD player.
    So, my summary:
There's definitely something wrong with the way iTunes creates an MP3 CD.
Personally, I don't care much though. If I ever "desperately" needed an MP3 CD to play in that DVD player, a copy of my backup CDs using Toast is done quickly and costs near to nothing.

  • Install itunes with error -2096

When I finish installing setup.exe and open itunes, there is a line that: Quicktime failed to initialize (error -2096).QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes.
I have reinstalled many times, but it still appears that line.
So how can I install iTunes?

When I finish installing setup.exe and open itunes, there is a line that: Quicktime failed to initialize (error -2096).QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes.
let's try getting the following possibilities off the table.
First, make sure you're not running QuickTime in any sort of compatibility mode, as per the following document:
Error -2096 message when opening QuickTime for Windows in Compatibility Mode
... but if no joy there, also check to make sure you're not running iTunes in any sort of compatibility mode:

(Make sure that all boxes in the iTunes Compatibility mode tab are unchecked, not just the compatibility box.)
    Any help with your 2096?

I have tried to install iTunes most recent version and others earlier with on my HP Pavillion and I keep getting a message that says I will not be able to import or burn CDs because iTunes did not install correctly. • Issue installing iTunes with Quicktime 7.6

I downloaded iTunes and it came with Quicktime. I went to install it and I got the following error message:
Outlook is currently running on this computer. If proceed without quitting Outlook, it is highly recommended that you restart Outlook after installation.
What I want to know is:
A.) What does Microsoft Outlook have to do with iTunes and Quicktime when Outlook is an email program
B.) I don't even have Outlook running at all so why would it say that it is "currently running on this computer". I have the program installed but it is not opened and is not running in the background.
    Did I do something wrong?

Glad to see that my dochter is not the only one having this issue !!
Tried many times to install iTunes/un-install but always comeback to the same issue since the 10.2.1 upgrade. Before it was working properly.
    No solution yet ?

  • BlackBerry Link and syncing Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with stand-alone desktop installation of Outlook 2010?

I have used Blackberries in business since the beginning. Fantastic products!
Sadly after spending the better part of Feb 6th transitioning from Torch to Z10 I have had to abandon the effort and request an RMA number to return the Z10.
    Here is why:
"Link" appears to be focussed on syncing documents and media like content such as music and movies but does not, from what I can tell, sync Outlook Contacts, Calendar entries or Tasks. I have never bothered putting music or movies on a BB... never had the time to fuss with such... however, I use, edit and sync my Contacts, Calendar and Tasks between my Torch and my desktop PC every day... as in EVERY day!
From a review of postings on various forums there does not appear to be a solution in the works to this problem and the trend appears to be to use a Cloud based email or service to host such "PIM" information and then sync the handheld to the Cloud repository. This method MAY be suitable for some forms of info but it is not suitable to post such personal info on the cloud... it needs to stay on the desktop and in the handheld device, both of which are password protected and looked after carefully.
This is an odd situation, BB (RIM) cut their teeth on pages, emails, BBM and great cell calls, mainly in a business environment. Many small business users live and die on their BB. They do not run Exchange Server... they run Outlook stand alone on a desktop. To remove this functionality from the Z10 (BB10 overall perhaps) seems at best to be a serious oversight.
I wish BB the best with the Z10 and hope to see it do well. For me, I had to make a choice between the efficiency and effectiveness of syncing Outlook Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with the Torch, or hand feeding and maintaining thousands of constantly changing entries into what is undoubtedly a more powerful and wonderful looking Z10. Efficiency and effectiveness won over brawn and beauty. The Torch is back on line... It's a tool... a really great tool! Tomorrow it will process a hundred emails,  numerous SMS messages, a few BBM's, keep me on time and feed me a bunch of useful phone numbers and addresses as it has for a couple of years now. It will also spend an hour or so teathered to my laptop at a remote location where there is cell coverage but no internet. It will NOT display any movies, tweats, twits, or facebook stuff that I won't have time to look at anyway. The fast, powerful, shiny Z10 is heading in an RMA bag back to Telus.
I have a sort of sick feeling in my gut and hope to be able to sync again in the future!

my feelings and my situation excatly
