Safe to replicate when I can't get +R to play?

Question

I am working on my third project destined for DVD-9 replication in DVDSP 3.0.2. I had a successful build, and DVDSP told me that my formatting was successful on a Memorex dual-layer DVD+R using an NEC ND-3540A burner. I can play the disc on my two PowerMacs, but it won't play in either of our set-top players (a low-cost Toshiba and a pretty nice Sony) or on my boss's two Windows machines. Both of my previous projects were successful, and my first build of this project played fine so I am assuming this is just a problem with the DVD+R compatibility and not with my actual build. My big question is: if I check this on the Macs and write my DLTs, is there any possibility this compatibility problem would carry over to the replicated discs? In other words, is there something I'm doing in DVDSP that could cause non-Mac compatibility problems? I couldn't think of anything, but I don't want to waste the time and money on glass masters unless I'm confident in the build.

Hi Zach,
When I started out doing DVD's my old favourite was to go to the local electronics megastore and find a friendly person to let you have a play on their set ups. You can always go under the guise of purchasing a new player. And as most new players understand the dual layer formats you can do some testing. I would also recommend a playstation if you can get hold of one.
But the short answer is no.
My other recommendation would be to use something like popcorn, DVD2One or Toast 7 and make a DVD 5 +R or -R to rule out some compatibility issues regarding your dual layer test format.
My last word of advice is not to make a menu the first play, thats just asking for trouble, and if you can avoid using Compressor as your encoding tool then that helps (Compressor 2 is still spiking).
