Safe To Uninstall Lightroom v5.7?

I have a subscription to Creative Cloud and use it to manage all my Adobe products (installs /updates). One of the applications I have installed, but rarely use yet is Photoshop Lightroom 5.7. I recently installed an upgrade from a Cloud notification to Photoshop Lightroom CC (2015).
However, I noticed the upgrade process left Lightroom 5.7 installed but no longer displays it as being installed from within the Creative Cloud Control Panel (manager).
I do not know much about Lightroom yet as I am just learning and have only poked around a bit and pointed it at a few photo libraries. My question is, since I do not have much setup/configuration invested in the 5.7 version, is it okay to uninstall it via Windows Control Panel since I now have the CC version installed?
I really don’t know why Adobe left the 5.7 version when I consider the CC version an upgrade. Or will I find I wished I kept both installed? Thanks in advance.

Yup. Your data is left in place even if you remove 5.7.
The older version is only removed for minor upgrades (i.e. 5.6 -> 5.7). Full versions are left in place.
I suspect, LR CC 2015 has imported and upgraded your LR 5 catalog. If yes, you might even consider to backup and remove the LR5 catalog if you care about disk space. You can always remove the preview folder anyway.

I have installed Lightroom CC and Lightroom 5.7.1. will I be okay to uninstall Lightroom 5.7.1?

Thanks Patie, that is helpful. As a follow up these are the apps I have installed:

    2) Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.app
    3) Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.app
    4) Adobe Lightroom.app (This is Creative Cloud)
Could you please say which I would be safe to delete so as to keep both Lightroom & Photoshop Creative Cloud and the 3rd. party plugins I have installed? I think the answer is Numbers 1 & 3 but would like confirmation of that before I gop ahead!
    Much obliged for help.

  • Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?  I just upgraded from 10 to 12 and wanted to know if it is safe or if there would be any issues with uninstalling and removing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.

Yes you can, if you are happy with the way PSE12 is running.
However both apps will happily co-exist, and there is no duplication as both use the same images on your hard drive.
PSE10 also has some features now removed from PSE12 as Adobe transitions towards 64 bit applications. See my PSE12 first look link:

  • Is It Safe To Uninstall Apple Mail?

    Hello everyone,
Tried searching t'internet for an answer to this but drawn a blank unfortunately. I have a Yahoo! Mail account that although supports IMAP on the iPhone means I need to install their Zimbra software to get IMAP on my iMac.
Is it safe to uninstall Apple Mail as I can not use it and I would rather just get rid, if I need I'll re install Snow Leopard when required.
Indeed has any got Yahoo! Mail IMAP to work Apple Mail?
Anyone got any thoughts, advice or experience with this at all?
Thanks a lot in advance for any replies.
    Kindest regards,
    PB

Do you have to use IMAP rather than POP3? I found this on the web which may or may not help.
Home > Outlook & Email Tips > Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server Settings
Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server Settings for Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, GMail, MSN, AOL and more
*Update, 23rd of August 2009: Hotmail can now be connected to Microsoft Outlook as any POP email account. To do so, you need to download the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector.
*Update, 29th of August 2006: the Google Gmail service offers a SMTP server (outgoing mail server) for Gmail accounts. To use the Google Gmail SMTP server, use the following information:
Google Gmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
The Gmail SMTP server requires authentication (use the same settings as for the incoming mail server)
The Google Gmail SMTP Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) on port 465.
Why & when do I need these settings?
Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, GMail and other providers are basically email services designed to provide you with email mailbox accesss directly from the web. However, going online and logging on to their sites is not always the most convenient way for reading and sending emails.
On the other hand, you have the alternative to send and receive emails through such a mailbox by using a local email client software, such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. In order to properly use it, you need to configure your email software with the incoming and outgoing mail servers of your email provider (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or else).
    Mail Server Settings
    Hotmail Settings
As other web based email services, Hotmail is using the HTTP protocol for connecting you to your mailbox. If you want to send and receive Hotmail emails using an email client software, then your software must support Hotmail HTTP access for your email account. Some email clients, such as Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook, offer builtin support for Hotmail accounts, so you only have to select HTTP when you are asked to select your email account type and select Hotmail as the HTTP Mail Service Provider.
Mail Server Settings for Hotmail using the Microsoft Outlook Connector
If you are using Microsoft Outlook & the Outlook Connector, you can define your Hotmail account just like any regular POP3 email account:
Hotmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop3.live.com (logon using Secure Password Authentification - SPA, mail server port: 995)
Hotmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.live.com (SSL enabled, port 25)
    Yahoo! Mail Settings
Yahoo Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software. To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:
    Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
POP Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings
Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, po
(sorry- missed that last port setting. If you need it, I can find it again)

  • Is it safe to uninstall or delete AIR? How?

As far as I know—and I won't be shocked if I'm wrong—I have no AIR programs installed in any of my Macs, yet I see some AIR folders and icons on them.
Is it safe to uninstall them? Is there an Unistaller somewhere, or can they just be moved to the Trash and nuked?
I do run Photoshop 13.0.5, Bridge 3.0, DNG Converter 6.4, Illustrator 12.0.1, Acrobat Professional 8.3.1, InDesign 4.0.5, Adobe Media PLayer 1.1, Adobe Reader and 9.3.0.  Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger, G5 Quad  PPC Power Mac.
    Thanks in advance.

Before I go ahead and uninstall random things, I like to do some research and see if I need it and if it will ruin my laptop with out it. So far I haven't seemed to be able to find anything on getting rid of certain built in software like Lenovo's Thinkvantage Toolbox.
A couple others I've been curious about are anything with Lenovo as the Publisher. I'm sure some of them are beneficial to the architecture of the laptop, but is there any I can go without?
Only you can decide if you need a particular ThinVantage utility. Research what each utility does. Use Search on the Lenovo Support site or a general tool like Google. Then make an informed decision whether you really need it.
    For example:
    • If you don't often use WiFi and/or you find that the standard support in Windows is good enough, then you don't need Access Connections.
    • If you've upgraded to a solid state disk then you no longer need  Active Protection.
    • If you don't use an external monitor or projector then you don't need Presentation Manager.
    etc.
Even if you uninstall a utility that you later decide you still need, you can always download and reinstall it using ThinkVantage System Update. (There are a few exceptions, typically third-party bloatware like Norton.)
P.S. Be careful about uninstalling something just because the publisher is Lenovo. Lenovo provides software like device drivers that are needed to run some of the specialized hardware in your system, e.g. the TrackPoint/TrackPad.

  • Unable to uninstall Lightroom 2.4

I'm getting a new PC today so am trying to uninstall Lightroom 2.4 from my current PC using Windows XP Add/Remove Programs.  Each time I get a message indicating that "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.  Insert the 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2' disk and click OK."  Under "Use source" there is a dropdown with '1' selected, and '1' is the only option.
I inserted the installation CD, clicked 'Browse' on the above referenced window, and browsed to the CD.  It's looking for a file called 'Adobe_Lightroom.msi' on the disk, which doesn't exist.  Oddly if I run the setup program from the CD, thinking that maybe from there I could run an uninstall that would work, it is ALSO looking for an msi file in order to do an installation!!!  What gives?  Why is is so difficult to uninstall this product?

I believe the MSI file is created when you run the executable that is in the sub folder on the CD.  It is created on your hard drive.  But you don't have to uninstall before you install on your new computer.  Just download the 2.6 trial version and install it on your new computer.  When the trial screen displays, indicate that you want to buy.  In the next screen, just enter the serial number that is packaged with your CD.
