Safest way to delete old account mailboxes

my user > library > mail folder contains several folders & mailboxes relating to accounts which are no longer used. these accounts are not listed in the accounts prefs inside apple mail.
is it safe to just delete these files in the finder ?
thanks

Yes, if you are sure you don't want any of those mails anymore, go ahead and delete those folders with Finder.

  • Is there a way to delete old emails in icloud all at once instead of 6 at a time?

Is there a way to delete all the old emails in icloud with one click of a button instead of 6 at a time?

If it's an iCloud email account, go to icloud.com from your computer.  Then you can select email by clicking the first, then shift-clicking that last and pressing your delete key.  Don't try to delete more than about 500 at a time or it will probably hang.
If it's a different email provider, go to their webmail site and do the same thing.

  • Lost Sent Emails after deleting old account

    Hello there.
What I had and did: I had a .com.ar account (from now on the .AR account) and just bought a .biz domain that I intend to start using from now on.
Both accounts are hosted by the same people and the .biz will receive the same emails that the .AR can receive. This is, if you send to any of the .AR or .BIZ, I will receive both in my MAC Mail.
In order for this to happen, I added the .BIZ account to Mac Mail. No problem.
Then, I made a mistake and deleted the .AR account settings. (I deleted the account with all its settings) When I found out after this, that I couldn´t find my old .AR Sent emails, I tried Re-creating the .AR account in my Mac Mail but ... the sent emails were not there.
Is there a way to recover those sent emails?
    Thanks for saving my life,
    Julio

I have added the account again, but only last 2 weeks emails pop back in.
It’s like a brand new account. No folder, no history.
It was a pop account and store emails for a long time.
    any advance solution?

  • Deleting old accounts and folders

I have a new email address i want to use in my mail but after ive deleted, the old account the old folders from that account and messages are still there! i want to restart it or something so its like new and free of old folders and messages, it wont let me manually delete these messages so what can i do? is there a reset? or what? please help! haha

What you’re saying doesn’t make sense. What have you done to delete the old account?
Regardless, Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored in ~/Library/Mail/. Quitting Mail and getting rid of those files would allow you to set up Mail anew as if you had never used it before, if that’s really what you want.
Other folders you may want to trash as well if present, but that are unimportant, are ~/Library/Mail Downloads and ~/Library/Caches/Mail.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • The correct way to delete old transport request record ?

    Dear all,
We want to delete old transport request record before 2008 (two years before) of our system.
We learn that we should delete the records in the below two path:
    /usr/sap/trans/data
    /usr/sap/trans/cofiles
Our target is that we will not see the old record after deleting in our PRD system.
Normally, we see the transport request record in system by this way:
STMS -->  import overview --> PRD --> Import Queue   system PRD --> Import history
Our question is do we need to restart our system after delete the record to refresh the Import history?
We have not delete the record now.
Any experienced or expert, please kindly give advice.
    Regards,
    Allen

    Hello Allen,
there are some notes and documentations for this process. Deleting the files from /cofiles and /data will not erase the request from the import history, as you already know.
You should follow note #41732 to have the requests/data completely deleted from your system. There is a lot of complementary reading in notes #7224, #556734, #189841, etc.
Note that you can remove the request from the import queue, import history, data and cofiles subdirectory, but still have it on the <SID> buffer (located in  /usr/sap/trans/buffer/<SID>). If this happens to you, please save a copy of the buffer file <SID>, then create a new, blank file named <SID> at a time when the import queue is empty (VERY IMPORTANT). Or, alternatively, please excute the tp cleanbuffer FIL command (which will erase the requests that are not found in /data and /cofiles directories).
--> Please test this first on a test system, not directly on a productive environment.
This should be enough to delete old transport requests on your system.
    Best regards,
    Tomas Black

  • Is there any way to delete old bookmarks that don't work any more?

As a longtime Firefox user, I have a lot of bookmarks that are old and do not work any more. Is there as easy way to delete these bookmarks or do I really have to try a bookmark, see that it isn't working and then go back in and delete it?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Deleting old account

It seems I am having two accounts. I forgot about the old one and registered a second one. According to my archives both accounts seem to use the same e-mail address (which I thought is not possible). When entering my e-mail (for log-in or password-recovery)
I am always reaching the new account only. So I can not access the old account.
I would like to delete the old account. How should I proceed?

Yes, I hear you. There used to be a contact form for Microsoft account issues but as far as I know they're gone now. I know they have always frowned on any requests to merge accounts. You can try asking here about that or access to old data.

  • Lots of duplicate emails found - best, fastest & safest way locate & delete

    Hi all
I have recently had cause to go back into some mailboxes ( old emails have been reappearing !! ) and found that a lot of my mail has several duplicates which are bloating the mailbox on me and local.
Does anyone know of a safe and quick way to locate duplicate emails and then delete them?
    Any help appreciated.

    Mail is version 4.5

Please keep discussion of this problem in the other topic. There would be insufficient info here for anyone to properly comment with the info in the other topic.
With an IMAP account, as MobileMe is, the Inbox and other folders reside on the server. Anything local is merely meant to be some temporary copy, but they could be the source of the behavior your are experiencing. You need to check the server to see if the Inbox there has in fact been bloated by duplicate messages.

  • Is there a way of deleting old files when upgrading to Lion

So I'm finally thinking about switching over from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5.  Normally, when I upgrade to a newer OS, it's usually when a newer OS than that comes out.  ie. Mountain Lion is out, so Lion would have seen it's issues and has been updated as much as it can.  Basically, 10.7.5 is the best Lion will ever get.  Hence why I'm willing to upgrade.  I'll admit, I'm lazy when it comes to having to reinstall everything, but because old OS extensions and kernels don't get deleted when you upgrade to newer OS, I usually install a clean OS, which means I have to reinstall all my apps.  I'm wondering if there's a way for all older OS system files that are not necessary anymore, to be deleted upon upgrading.  Or will Apple ever design an upgrade that will do so.

Buy Lion, erase your disk and install.

  • Changed feed and deleted old account.  iTunes Store still showing deleted content?

I was a former use of Podomatic and published my RSS feed to iTunes in order to publish my podcasts.  I am now publishing to iTunes direct from my webserver via software "Feed For All" that I purchased.  iTunes approved the changed URL RSS feed and it's working fine in the iTunes store.  All that is available via the Feed for All URL is being published by iTunes, so that's not the problem.  The problem lays in that I deleted my Podomatic account approximately 7 days ago, and iTunes Store still shows the Podomatic content ... i.e., unplayable and not working podcasts as well as the avatar from my Podomatic account.
How long does it take for iTunes to strip out the old Podomatic stuff?
    Thank you.

  • How can I edit and delete photos from my albums? I can't find a way to delete old photos...

Can anyone help me delete photos? There are old blurry and duplicate photos that we are unable to delete...

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • What's the best way to delete old iphoto libraries

I have an old library that I created in iPhoto 4 so that my parents could see their vacation pics. I want it off my hard drive and don't need it anymore anyway. Can I just drag and drop the whole library in the Trash? I'm using iPhoto 8 now, so it's been converting my old libraries into ones organized the way it is.

    That will work.
