Safety stock and min safety stock

Dear all,
CAn anybody explain me the functional difference between safety stock and min safety stock?
And what is the meanng of safety time?
Karthick

Hi,
Safety Stock:
The quantity of stock to satisfy high requirements. The purpose of the safety stock is to prevent material shortage.
Safety stock as the name suggest is the stock level till which the dead stock or stock out situation will not arise (probable figure based on past data maintained in master).
As such this figure is not stock, it is cut-off figure maintained in master which is used for Planning and once the stock level dips below this value, you can configure system to generate PR, orders automatically. It has its relevance in MRP and CBP.
Safety stock is not used in production.
Minimum Safety Stock
The quantity that defines the lower limit for safety stock. This value cannot be exceeded.
The safety is checked to see if it is greater or equal to this lower limit.
The lower limit is checked if you use an availability indicator which shows, according to customizing settings, if the safety stock is to be calculated again in a forecast. If the safety stock is lower than this level in forecasting, the safety stock is automatically increased to the value of the lower level.
The safety stock must always be greater or equal to this lower level (minimum safety stock)
Hope this will help help you.
Regards,
Pavan

  • Request for help on Vendor Consignment stock and Customer Consignment Stock

    HI Experts,
We have a requirement to segregate the Customer Consignment stock and Vendor consignment stock from the total Consignment stock available in the BW report.
Currently in the report the calculation of total consignment stock is based up on Issued consignment stock and Received consignment stock .
The calculations of the Issued and Received consignments stocks are specified below.
    Issued consignment Stock
The below following parameters are checked when the quantity is considered as Issued consignment Stock
    Transaction or Process keys :  100, 101, 104, 105, 106, 110
    Application    :   MM
    Stock relevance : 1
    Adding to the above conditions,
u2022     When the stock category is u2018Ku2019, the Quantity in Base Unit of Measure is assigned to Issued Consignment Stock.  or
u2022     When the stock category is blank and the stock type is u2018Eu2019 or u2018Ku2019 or u2018Lu2019 then also the Quantity in Base Unit of Measure is assigned to Issued Consignment Stock.
    Received Consignment Stock :
The below following parameters are checked when the quantity is considered as Issued consignment Stock
    Transaction or Process keys :  000, 001, 004, 005, 006, 010
    Application    :   MM
    Stock relevance : 1
    Adding to the above conditions,
u2022     When the stock category is u2018Ku2019, the Quantity in Base Unit of Measure is assigned to Received Consignment Stock.  or
u2022     When the stock category is blank and the stock type is u2018Eu2019 or u2018Ku2019 or u2018Lu2019 then also the Quantity in Base Unit of Measure is assigned to Received Consignment Stock
Only stock category and stock type are available in the BW report for determining the type of consignment stock . So, with respect to stock category and stock type, could you please kindly advise if it is possible to determine the Customer consignment stock and Vendor consignment stock in the report
    Thanks a lot

On of my cleints requirement is to see the list of Dead stock and slow moving stock
I tried T.COde Mc50 and MC46 but I could not understand the report fully
In case of T.code MC50(dead stock) the input criteria for the report is just Plant,Pur org and Sales Org.
How does system identify an item as dead stock.
Is there any setting to define an item as dead stock before running report MC50?
In case of slow moving stock ,i want to see all the material for which no posting
happened for 60 days.In this case what value I need to select in T.Code MC46
    Thx in advance

    Hi,
While using MC46 report under Scope of ranking list, select the No. of days up to last consumption as 60 days.
And execute with the other selection parameters.

  • Blocked stock and GR Block stock

Can anyone please let me know the difference between Blocked stock and GR blocked stock.  How to post stock to these both stock type and how valuation matters to those.
Also for transfer posting from Stock type Blocked Stock  to Quality Inspection Stock or Unrestricted-use Stock, whether accounting document will generate or not....
    Please clarify me on this.
    Thank you
    Shreek

Can anyone please let me know the difference between Blocked stock and GR blocked stock. How to post stock to these both stock type and how valuation matters to those.
GR Blocked stocks means if you have doubt about the stock you can post these stocks to GR Blocked stock with mvt type 103.In this case no accounting documents generated.Once you gets clarified the doubt about stock you can move the stock to your stock with mvt 105.Once you post the document with 105 you can get accounting documents will be generated.
Also for transfer posting from Stock type Blocked Stock to Quality Inspection Stock or Unrestricted-use Stock, whether accounting document will generate or not...
Blocked stock is you are blocked these stocks for other movements This stock you can transfer mvt 343 & 344 blocked to unrestricted or unrestricted to block. In this cas you are moving the stocks with in storage location in single plant so thesre is no accounting generated.only stock status changed..
    Hope this will clarifies,

  • Diff between valuated stock and storage loc stock

    Dear guys,
What is difference between valuated stock and starage loc/ batch stock?
    Regards
    Jay

    Hi,
the stock which shown at MMBE at storage location level /batch is valuated stock. In order to identify the differrance , the stock which is taken in will be with stock types likes unrestricted, quality etc.If batch management is active for the material , material willbe procured in batches and will be kept in storage location, with differrant stock types.Stock types may also be like sale order stock etc.If the material is procured against a account assignment , the value of the stock will be costed against theaccount assignment.
The qty multiplied with the price is the value of the material and this valuated stock will be stored in the storage location under a batch if batch management is active.
Again valuation can be at company code level or plant level.
Also non valuated and non stock materials also in existsance which will be depend upon the material type and will be procured against a account assignment.

  • Safety Stock & Min Safety Stock

    Dear SAP experts,
Please explain the difference between Safety Stock and Min Safety Stock.
What is the implication on the system if these two fields are maintained?
    Thanks...
    Rgds,
    Kian

    Hi
By maintaining safety stock in MRP run systems doesn't consider this qty for calculation but for total planned order to match re-order point it is considered.
Min safety stock is totally taken out from stock for MRP.

  • Safety stock and safety period

Can anybody help me in understanding the effect of safety period in MRP..
CAn anybody give me an explanation with numbers so that i could test and understand..
    Please help me out..

    Dear
There are plenty of earlier posting on Safety stock and safety periods .
Safety Stock : This is one kind of Un-restricted stock which will be used to full fill the un-expected damand for any material apart from the normal stock .Safety Stock calcuation depends on requireiment .It can be pre-defined ( manual safety stock -MRP3 view-Safety Stock ) or Automatic Safety Stock based on the MRP Type set up in OMDQ.If you want automatic safety stock , then it will calcuated based on Forecasting view parametrs , forcast model , MAD, BASIC value calcualted wheil excuting Forecasting collectively or individually .
Safety Stock Calcualtion happend based on following CONDITION :
1.MRP type should be Forecast Base MRP -VV,VB,VS,V1,V2.Here MRP type calculates the Automatic Safety stock based on the Forcasting View Maintained in MM02 with proper Consumption History .( 261,501 etc update control in MMR through OMJJ set up --Please check MMR Forcasting View -Cosnumption Histry at least 6 months are there or not ?)
2.In MRP Type -SPRO-MRP-Check MRP Type -Select any one of the MRP Type like VV , you will find that Calcualtion of Reo-Order Point and Safety Stock Check Box Ticked .Based this set up and above Forcasting view , safety Stock will be calcualted with certain formaul .Here in the Material Master MRP3 view u need to maintain Service Level Percentage of that Material whcih will be consideredr as Service level factor to calcvualte the Safety Stock automatically based on the MAD and Basic Values calcualtion in Forcating View Individually (MM02) or collectively in MP38 .
Hope this above facts will help you to understand the calcualtrion of Safety Stock .
    Formula : Safety Stock = R x Sq.rt. W x MAD
    Safety Stock = R x W x MAD
Refer our earlier posting on the similar issues :
    Automatic reorder point calculation
safety stock and min safety stock
    Hope it clarifies

  • Custom Report for the Stock and Stock value for a specific date

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Is there any SAP standard t-code or any logic to get the transcations (additions (for example: Purchases) and subtractions (Sales) to the inventory) for a particular materials in a plant and with Total Stock and also Total Stock value when that particular transaction happened?
    Our system is R/3 4.7
I looked at the MB5B, MBCE, MBCA, MC44, MB51 and some other standard T-codes but could not find the total stock value at the time of Transaction happened.
The history tables MBEWH and MARDH  are updated after the month end closing procedures, right, which means I will have the inventory value changing every month if material has Price "S".
    Thank you,
    -Harter

    Hi Harter,
Unfortunately, you cannot see in a single tcode the value of stock and stock quantity on a specific date. As you yourself have pointed out, we only have to make use of the history table MBEWH, MARDH for the month wise stock quantity and value. Along with that you should also make use of the table MBEW to take teh stock quantity and value. So the total value of stock on a particular date will be
Stock qnty = MBEWH value until the previous month (for teh specific valuation class, period etc) + MBEW value for the present date.
But this will nto work out if you want to find out teh stock quantity and stock value on a past date basis. For past data, only  m onthwise data is available. For this anyway you can refer to MC.1 and so on reports.

  • Stock report in BW (valuated stock and Storage Location level)

    Dear All,
                Regards.We got an situation here,
Case 1:  R3 (MB5B) (Both "Storage loc" and "Valuated stock" shows the same Stock Qty)
1).The BW Stock Report shows values the Correct Values for "Receipt Qty" and "Issue Qty" with the Correct  "Quantity total Stock" aswell.
Case 2 :   R3 (MB5B) (Stock is different between "Storage Loc" and "Valuated Stock")
1).The BW Stock Report shows the  "Quantity Total Stock according to VALUATED STOCK Level(MB5B),but  the "Receipt Qty" and "Issue Qty" according to STORAGE LOCATION Level(MB5B) .
We followed the "How to Handle Inventory "Doc with the proper sequence of Loading of Infosources and Compression. The data is sitting fine at the cube level.
It would be great if someone can throw some Light on this issue,on how the Query shows a COMBO of both Valuated stock and Storage Location stock....Held up with this issue for quite sometime..Had a look at the   Oss Note (589024)...........
    Manythanks

    HI,
In Inventory we have two quantity fields given to satisfy the requirement.
    Valuated stock Qty - 0VALSTCKQTY
    Storage Location qty - 0TOTALSTCK
You can make use of them based on your requirement. Hope this helps for you.

  • Reserve and On-Order Stock

    Hi Experts,
    Pl Explain,
    1) What is Reseve Stock and On-Order stock?
    2) How to clear these stocks?
    3) There is any report in SAP Standard like MMBE to see all the stock in summrized from of Company level/ Plant Level etc.
    Regards,
    ViAngrish

    Reserve stocks
These are reservations which can come from Plant Maintenance, Production Planning, etc.
What it means is that, in either of these modules, they require a certain amount of quantity of material X. However, it is not performed yet, therefore it is just a reservation. Once the job is done, the reservation will no longer be there.
You can manually remove them by going to T-code: MB25 --> Enter Material Code, and look for the reservation. From here you can find the origin (E.g. Maintenence order or production Order). Go to change Order screen and remove the component.
    On-Order stock
This means that you have a Purchase Order which is still waiting to be received. Thats why it is considered as on-order stock. Once you perform goods receipt for that particular material, it will be out of on-order stock.
To remove this, search for the relevant Purchase Order first and then subsequently deleting the line item.
You can do this by going to ME2M --> Enter Material Code + Selection Parameter: WE101..
    Hope this helps..

  • Stock ans sale order stock

    Dear All,
What is difference b/w stock and sale order stock.and what is its impact if i use strategy 40.and what is the movement type to transfer stock to sale order stock

    What is B/W stock?
Strategy 40: Planning with Final assembly.
When you plan the sales order, MRP create receipts and when you do the GR, the stock will posted to to Unrestricted stock. PGI for the Sales order deliveruy is done from the Unrestricted stock. which can be used by any sales order.
The Movement type to transfer the Stock from Unrestricted to sales order stock is 411E.
if you use 20 or 50 startegy depedning on your requirement, the stock directly is posted to the Sales order stock, which cannot be consumed by any other sales order.
