In my living room I have a mac mini connected via its inbuilt airport to my sagem fast 1400 wifi router which is sitting about 4 metres away.
My wife wants to use her dodgy dell laptop for internet work etc in the basement together with the printer, but the wi-fi signal does not extend that far.
Questions: If I bought an airport for the basement, could i connect an ethernet from the laptop (6 yrs old, no inbuilt wireless) to the airport to surf, and could i connect a printer to the airport so that both the laptop and mac mini upstairs could print?
I've read the faq, but not being tech savvy, I find it hard to follow.

No, the Airport Express will not extend the wireless range of the Sagem router.
For the Airport Express ethernet port to be active, and for the Airport Express to wirelessly extend the wireless range of a base station, that base station must support what Apple calls a "wireless distribution system" (WDS). Your Sagem wireless router doesn't support Apple's WDS system.

Another way of saying the same thing here would be that if you want to extend the network wirelessly, it will take two Apple routers to do so

If you mean AppleCare, then I would believe the answer will be yes.
First make sure you have a full backup of everything on your Mac, then run, don't walk to your nearest Apple store.

I cannot link my new MacMini with my TV's sound system. It's a Pioneer screen & receiver with an independent Pioneer Amp. The Mac Mini does not pick up the sound through the hdmi cable, so how do I get sound going through the MacMini so I can appreciate the music and films I want to hear. The Mac Mini is going to be used for an Internet connection on the Pioneer Plasma/receiver so I can also play stored films from a seperate hard drive. The receiver has an HDMI connection which I have connected the Mac Mini too. the picture is fine, but there is no sound. I have checked the 'sound' settings on the Mac Mini and it registers the Pioneer PDP receiver is connected but states it has no audible connection?

So assuming your mini has a thunderbolt port (you said it's new so I assume it does), you'd just plug the display's thunderbolt cable into the mini's Thunderbolt port.

I have no audio from the mac mini to the hdtv via hdmi cable.

This started immediately after the latest "apple software update" I updated it automatically on 6/24/2011. I have an elgato eye tv connected to the mac mini that provides BOTH audio and video through the HDMI to the HDTV. The elgato eye tv works fine. I get both audio and video.
However, I only get picture and NO sound from the mac mini to the HDTV via the HDMI output. No streaming audio either - only picture. Ive tried pandora, netflix, hulu, etc. I even put in a DVD into the mac mini and again I receive a picture through THE HDMI but no audio.
I've shutdown and rebooted. I've disconnected power and reconnected power. I've gone into the system preferences, audo, and highlight the SONY HDTV as the output. But still nothing. I do notice when I toggle between the "internal speakers' and the HDMI option, the audio arrow on the lower right is bright blue during the internal speakers option but is grey when the HDMI option is connected.
I called apple care. Since I'm 98 days past my 90 days of coverage there is no help via human being. They offered me to set an appointment at the local apple store but they suggested I bring down my 60 inch HDTV with me to the store to be sure it is not a "Sony" issue. I hope someone can help me resolve this without having to put this mac mini on craigslist and taking a $ hit.

I have the same issue. I also have the 2010 mac mine and use hdmi for audio to my receiver. I get audio from eye tv with no problems, but it seems to lock the path so that only it can use that path for audio. If I restart the computer and do not start eye tv everything else works with hdmi audio. I have tried using the system settings and changing the source there but it doesnt seem to matter.

Here is the information I have. The external hard drive is a 120GB Acomdata. It has both USB and Firewire. When I go to plug in to the mac mini through USB, it is not being recognized. When I switch to Firewire on the old computer I can see it, however when I go to USB it is not being recognized (even on the old computer).
I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any advice would be helpful.

Does anyone know if the old iBook clamshell can be used as the monitor and keyboard with the Mac mini? I've got one and I'd like to be able to use it.

The simple answer to your question is that no, your iBook or iMac can't be used the way you hope. Neither has any way to get the mini's video output into the iBook or iMac for display purposes. Obviously the iMac keyboard can be used with the mini, but not the iBook's.
This question comes up regularly here in one form or another, with users hoping to use laptops or iMacs as input/out devices for a mini, but it can't be done. What can be done in many situations is to connect the mini and 'host' system by ethernet and use a VNC solution (such as Chicken of the VNC http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/) to control the mini from the host. basically the mini appears in a window on the host system's desktop. However most, if not all, VNC-type solutions will require that the host is running MacOS X, not OS9 or earlier, and even when it does work, performance is really not that great. Aside from that, a screen, keyboard and mouse is required for the mini's initial out-of-the-box setup anyway.

No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.

No.
The Apple TV is the guts of an iPad without the screen or battery running a different build of the OS. Ie, its very cheap to make and runs an ARM processor (like all iDevices)
The Mac mini is 6x the price and is a full intel computer running the OS X.
Now, it could be that the Apple TV gets more powerful and its OS more diverse and "computer like" (apps + iCloud for example), but for now they're still coming from totally different directions.

1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.
