  • Z60T Audio drivers won't install.

I have spent at least 10 hours on this problem, searched the net, searched forums, re-installed Windows a second time after formatting a second time, to no avail.  I have no sound, and Device Manager says the following Drivers are not installed:
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
    Biometric Coprocessor
    Unknown Device
I don't care about Unknown and Biometric Coprocessor, I think they are fingerprint reader related.
But I DO care about having sound, and I'm about to lose my ever loving mind on this.
    Here's what happened:
We bought this laptop used on Craigslist.  I formatted the hard drive, including the ThinkVantage partition, and installed XP Professional SP2.  I went to the IBM site to download drivers, and that's when all this heppened.
I installed the Q888111 patch before installing the drivers.
When I installed the drivers, the Soundmax screen came up, and then just sat there, nothing more happened.
I then had to force a reboot, and Soundmax showed up in Programs, but when I tried to play a file in WMP 11, it said there was no audio device installed.
Soundmax showed up in Add/Remove programs, but would not respond to being removed so I could try to reinstall.  I had to manually remove it and run RegCleaner to get rid of it.
I'm beginning to think my sound device is broken...I have NEVER had this much trouble with a  driver before.
Another symptom is constant freeze up.  I know I need more RAM, but 512 should be enough to at least run installation.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Bluetooth problem in ideapad s210 touch windows 8.1 and audio problem

    Hi .. i have lenovo s 210
i have a problem with audio output, the sound is muted and it said that my bluetooth audio device can not be started. i download realtek High definition from the support system and the audio system start working again. But when i check the device manager the bluetooth problem still not fixed. It said i had a code 10 problem. I just recently update my windows to 8.1, but before there is no problem with the audio... and recently i find out that i can not use my bluetooth too. and all the bluetooth system seems doesn't work out
    what should i do??
    thanks

Actually, I solved this issue myself after a while.
I induced a system restore prior to the date when I began to experience this error.
It then happened once more, so I went to the "PC Settings" menu and selected "Update and recovery".
There were apparently updates to be installed, so I clicked "More details/information", and found that there were 3 Intel-related drivers that were listed, but for some reason, Windows 8 didn't automatically install them, so I checked each one of them and proceeded to install them and it has been smooth sailing for me ever since that.
    SO.
A piece of advice for all those who have experienced the issue I detailed in my former post:
Check what updates need to be installed on your computer in the "PC Settings" app thing, and see if there are any driver-realted updates (like for your graphics card, especially).

  • UNDF audio codec on Mac?

I have Windows 7 64-bit on my Boot Camp partition. I've installed Halo: Combat Evolved for PC on it and also installed FRAPS screen recording software. I want to record some gameplay clips on Windows, copy to a flash drive, and edit them on iMovie in my Mac. I have Mac OS X 10.6.7. The video format Fraps records is ".AVI". I can only play the video with working audio in Windows Media Player, and when I try using VLC in Windows it doesn't work either. When I tried Quicktime on OS X, or VLC for Mac, both said something about "undf" audio code. VLC for Mac is able to play video only, but no audio. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Are there any drivers/codecs I need to download so I can edit/convert the video clips? Thanks.

    Try installing Perian:-
http://perian.org/ This should allow you to play your files under OSX

  • Won't let me save as archive nor change software instrument to audio track

You were able to do both of these before iLife 09. Also, I see the option to archive, but it won't let me select it. Anyone?

One: Locking a track mixes it down to an audio track (hidden in the project package in a folder called "Freeze Files") that is being used on playback, so the computer doesn't have to render the software instruments.
Two: If by "sound modules" you mean the software instruments - no, they are not included in a "Save as Archive" file. As I said, it's the audio loops and copied regions. Try adding a blue audio loop to your song, and the "Save as Archive" option will appear!

  • Audio problem with T61 running windows 7

    hello,
After installing windows 7 Enterprise on my T61, I have no sound.
Driver seems to be installed correctly (Device manager), speakers taskbar icon looks & functioning OK, but i can't hear nothing.
I've installed the suggested Vista driver from Lenovo web site, but the problem remains...
I must mention that there was no problem while using Windows 7 RC, the problem started after installing a clean copy of Win 7 pro.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eyal.

I've installed win7 over a dozen times on T61 models and never had a problem. Perhaps if you can provide more information, did you reformat your drive before install, or install overtop an existing windows version? If it helps, all my installations are on a freshly formatted partition. Windows installs working drivers on everything except the ricoh card reader, for that you just need to manually install the vista drivers from device manager and it will work. I then run system update and it installs newer drivers for some of the hardware, but like I said, never had an audio problem.

  • FCP Video files burn to DVD, Only gets audio when played

    Hi,
I know this has been asked many times, but, it's late at night and I'm looking for a quick answer please.
I burnt ideo clips, which I have exported thru FCP, and burn them straight onto a DVD thru the Finder.
The person who got the DVD said he only gets audio from the clips, so, he can't see them.
Have many ideas of what I should do, but, what is the most common solution to this problem?

#48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • Overmodulated/distorted/garbled audio on G4 (Digital Audio)

Just got a used G4 (Digital Audio Model #M7688LL/A) from a somewhat nationally-known used Mac store for about $200. It has a 533 Mhz processor with 512MB of RAM. It had 10.3.9 pre-installed.
Everything works great. Even the startup chime. Perfect. But then after it has started up, the sound is horrible. From the alerts to playing music from iTunes, it sounds completely overmodulated or garbled.
I repaired permissions. I zapped the PRAM. Nothing changed.
I'm thinking it's a conflict between the OS and the old computer (it used to sell with OSX 10.0.3). The start-up chime is fine. Once the system loads up, yuck.
I plan to put in a call to the after-sales tech support. But I hope I don't need to ship it back or pay a bunch to have it replaced. I also hope I don't need to buy another copy of Tiger. Maybe Tiger would solve it (I found a support document here that said certain Powerbook G4 audio was garbled until installing Tiger. I don't know what to do and money is tight.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like a hardware problem. If you call them, they will most likely tell you to ship it back. Alternatively, if you need some new speakers buy yourself USB speakers. That way the audio will be coming out through your USB, which I'm assuming works fine. However, 10.3.x doesn't support USB speakers, so you will have to get 10.4.

  • Audio Out of Sync in iMovie.  And yes, I've tried detaching audio.

I created a video of myself on my iMac using iMovie.  I used the iMac's internal camera and mic.  About a 1/4 through the video (it's about 15 minutes long), the audio starts getting out of sync.  I looked up solutions to this problem, and everywhere I read said to detach the audio from the clip(s).  I did that, and it was still out of sync.  I then tried to split my long 15 minute clip into multiple clips, and then I detatched the audio from each one of them.  Also didn't work.  I tried uploading to Youtube, and Youtube recognized the issue and gave me a series of steps to fix it.  Did it all, and still the audio is out of sync.  This is a simple, unedited video that should have taken me no more than 10 to throw together.  Instead, I've been screwing around with this for several hours.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks!

44100 Hz is fine and the audio codec is fine. Most camcorders record at 48000 Hz, but audio CDs are recorded are 44100 Hz, and iMovie handles them well.
However, your video frame rate is an odd number. A camcorder in the US will usually record at 29.97 frames per second. In Europe, the standard is 25 fps. On some cameras, you also have the option of 24 fps (same as a Hollywood movie).
Your camera is recording at 14.89, which is about half of the 29.97 standard. I am guessing that the video is from a webcam or maybe a cell phone or still camera.  It is difficult to sync audio over long periods of time if your video is not conforming to the standards. Cameras like this may record at varioable rates, so sometimes you get more than 14.89 and sometimes less. Your best bet would be to make an iMovie project at 29.97 fps, so that it will basically repeat each frame of your video twice to get up to 29.78 fps. Even so, it will drift out of sync over time.
If you had Final Cut Pro X, you could use the tools in FCP to conform your video and audio to a 29.97 timeline and probably keep it synced better. Long term, your best bet is to use a camcorder that can shoot 29.97 (or 30) fps.
Short term, I would suggest keeping your clips in your project short. For your 15 minute clip, drag in the first minute, then the 2nd minute, etc. untill you have it all. Even so, it may drift. Detaching audio is probably not necessary.

  • AS2, how to export audio after frame 1

I searched the forum and only find AS3 solutions. Does anyone know a way to export audio for actionscript after frame 1? I unchecked the "Export on Frame 1", and what that did was to skip exporting my audio all together. "Export for Actionscript" is still checked, but I don't know how to tell it when, I guess, is the problem.
I saw one thread that said to put the audio on the timeline, so I tried it, and although the volume slider still to worked with that metthod, but the mute button, which uses the Sound.start() and Sound.stop() commands, stopped working.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Oh, goodness, that's too easy Thank you, kglad!  I ended up creating a "container" movie that has the preloader in it and call the main movie from there, and that seems to work, too, but your solution is much better!

  • How to remove audio clip I added to iMovie 10?

I created a short video, added audio clip from itunes.  But I cannot upload it to Facebook due to copyright rules.  How can I remove the audio clip?  I separated the audio from the video, but it's only the original audio, not the clip I added.  I looked through several posts but could not find this exact topic.
I see some posts that talk about inspector, but imovie 10 doesn't seem to have it.
When I click on the video segments i don't see anything about the audio clip that I added.
    Newbie here, please be patient...
    Thanks.

You just need to go back to the project in iMovie 10, delete the iTunes audio clip and share again.
(I'm not quite clear what you did when you said you 'separarted the audio from the video'.)
    Geoff,

  • Multiclip with 2 video + 1 Audio

Hi - I have a 16 track audio file, 2 DV video tracks. I have set up a multiclip. I aligned the in point on all the tracks including the audio by counting back from a marker sound.
So, how do I cut out the DV audio while editing and only hear the 16 track audio ( it is brought in a stereo placeholder since it is still being mixed ).
The Audio file does not show in the multiclip viewer. The manual does not seem to cover this scenario but this must be common.
    First time multiclip edit.

Sorry, It was recorded as 16 track which was confusing, it is in FC as a seperate stereo track.
I think I understand, what I did not realize that the audio was in the multiclip window, but black but you can still click and select it as the audio track. I did what you said about locking the audio, it works fine now.
It is interesting, as an aside, playing the video with the DV audio makes my Mac stutter, but with only the mixed seperate audio playing alone, it runs much better.
Cool! I think I am set to start editing......OMG ! it's too late now, got to get to bed.....
    Thanks

  • Does iDVD support 24 bit audio?

I have a project that calls for impeccable audio quality. The client has supplied me with 24 bit aiff files.
The files import easily into Final Cut Express and when placed in the a 1080i60 timeline show no sign of needing a render.
Does this mean that I will retain the 24 bit quality all the way through export to authoring of the DVD in iDVD? Does iDVD compress the audio in such a way that it will no longer be 24 bit?
I can find little or no information about this particular question in the manuals or the discussions.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike Pulcinella

Apple has never said much about the audio encoding in iDVD.
'Traditionally' it was just two channel uncompressed PCM audio; DVD SP (with Compressor) gives several other choices (including Dolby Digital).
Toast gives you the choice of uncompressed PCM or Dolby Digital as well.
Here is what the Toast manual has to say: Audio Format: Choose Dolby Digital or uncompressed PCM. In almost all cases, Dolby Digital is the best choice. It uses less disc space, so you can fit more video on the DVD, and the sound quality is almost the same as PCM.
Data Rate: Choose the bit rate to encode the Dolby Digital audio. Higher bit rates can produce slightly better sounding audio, but use more disc space. Toast uses 192 kbps by default.
Dynamic Range Compression: Enabling dynamic range compression reduces the range between loud and soft sounds in order to make dialogue more audible, especially when listening at low volume levels.
PCM audio should be used if you want to maintain 100% fidelity and only if the audio source is already uncompressed PCM, such as tracks on an audio CD or a high quality audio recording. If the audio files are already compressed (such as MP3 or AAC songs in your iTunes library) do not use PCM—it will not improve the sound quality.
Toast records PCM at 48 kHz / 16 bit levels or 48 KHz / 24 bit levels, which are higher than standard CD quality. Audio that has been recorded at 96 kHz / 24 bit is downsampled automatically unless you choose the 96 kHz / 24 bit option, which maintains the higher quality but significantly reduces disc space.
When you choose PCM, any existing Dolby Digital audio files will be “passed through” without reconverting to PCM.
    Hope this helps.

  • 25p audio with 24p video

Our DP shot an interview at 24p, but unfortunately our sound guy mistakenly recorded audio at 25p to a separate dat. They are obviously not syncing up, and I am not really sure where to start.
The rest of the film was shot 24p with audio captured through the camera so no issues there. The project was created using DV NTSC easy setup.
Can I convert the audio somehow?
    Thank you in advance
    MacPro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    we figured it out...
What was discovered is that somehow the sound guy recorded the sample rate just shy of 48hz. Faulty dat equipment? Not really sure. Anyway, it was something like 47.97hz. So when the post house transferred it they locked it based on sample rate rather than frame rate. Sample rate is more accurate than frame rate when dealing in audio, and as Wes said, a second of audio is a second of audio, so frame rate shouldn't be the issue. But, what he didn't say is that if the sample rate is off, it will cause audio to slowly drift. Unfortunately only the dat reader at the post house was able to accurately detect the wonky sample rate as FCP was showing it at 48hz so I was left unaware.
    Hope that helps someone out...
