SAINT/SPAM UPDATE takes longer time more than 12hours

Hi everyone,
  I am doing SAINT/SPAM UPDATE version 33 on NW70 systems running on windows 2003 x64 servers with oracle 10g database. The update is running for more than 12 hours and has not finished yet.
Normally SAINT/SPAM update wud take 15 to 20mins. But this is very unusual.
Has anyone faced similar problems before ?
Please suggest solutions if any
thanks
Moses

Check the import monitor and the tp system log to check the status of the patch... please post here any errors found.
Loging using DDIC
ensure 000 client you login
ensure your active login session on CI instance (in case multiple instances)
ensure to shutdown/stop all other instances (Dialog Distances) running on other hosts
This information is inacurate and missleading... You don't need to logon with DDIC you can use any user with the right authorizations,  also you don't need to shutdown any instances.

  • Security updates takes long time to install through Software Center

    Hi Folks,
    We have a setup with SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 as a Primary Site server where SUP also enabled. I deployed the windows security updates to the test servers collection by deployment type as Available.
    I verified in test servers that all the deployed security updates are listed under Software Center client, but when I checked all the updates and tried to install. it is taking long time to install . Most of the time the updates are in “waiting to install”
    status and finally ends up in failed state with error codes 0xc80003f3, 0x8007000e. Have verified all the logs windowsupdate.log, Updatesdeployment.log, WUHandler.log are points to the same error code. Found that multiple SVChost.exe process consumes more
    memory during patching process.
    However we have enough physical memory(2 GB) and page memory( Min 2 GB to Max 4 GB) configured on the servers (Windows 2012 R2 SP1) .  Need some guidance in further troubleshooting...

    Most of the servers managed by me today are having anywhere 2 - 4 GB RAM installed. How do one install the security patches through SCCM with this configuration?. Selecting more than 4 patches at the same time to install does gives memory errors.
    I would suggest 4GB RAM for a modern Server OS e.g. WS2012R2 is simply too little memory.
    There have been quite a lot of issues in recent months, relating to Software Updates, affecting WSUS and also ConfigMgr, e.g.

    Hi....
    Yes...u can hide..........just Check the hide box for those fields.......R u in BI 7.0 or BW...........whatever ........is the no of records is huge?
    If so u can split the records and execute............I mean use the same IP...........just execute it with different selections.........
    Check in ST04............is there are any locks or lockwaits..........if so...........Go to SM37 >> Check whether any Long running job is there or not.........then check whether that job is progressing or not............double click on the Job >> From the Job details copy the PID..............go to ST04 .....expand the node............and check whether u r able to find that PID there or not.........
    Also check System log in SM21............and shortdumps in ST04........
    Now to improve performance...........u can try to increase the virtual memory or servers.........if possiblr........it will increase the number of work process..........since if many jobs run at a time .then there will be no free Work prrocesses to proceed........

  • Create Table taking long time (more than 60 minutes) and still running

    Hi all,
    I was able to create and drop table until yesterday, but now the when I issue the below statement the server is stuck, its showing creating table in process.... and then it hangs till you cancel the operation. Query of table and running the procedures are ok, so I am confused why only create table is having issues.
    CREATE TABLE table1
    ( field1 VARCHAR2(20) );
    Any help at the earliest will be appreciated,
    Thanks

    Just check up your status of the log files
    select * from v$logfile
    If the status is inactive,
    Just do a
    alter system switch logfile
    The alert log should have the problem specified check for the file.
    also try to recreate another user and take a try in table creation:
    SQL> connect sys/******
    SQL> create user scott identified by tiger default tablespace users temporary tablespace temp quota 100m on users;
    SQL> grant connect, resource to scott;_
    SQL> connect scott/tiger
    SQL> create table xyz ( a number);
    SQL> create table abc ( d number);
    Could you successfully create the tables?

  • Gif files takes long time to load..!!

    Hi,
    I found the gif/jpg files takes long time ( more than 5 or 6 seconds depends on size ) to render on JavaHelp viewer EditorPane.. I am using JDK 1.3 / Win 2000 / 256 MB / 1 GHz Pentium. Also found JVM uses 90% of the system resources while loading the pic files. I have noticed it as a JDK 1.3 bug from another thread.
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=42&thread=230409
    I would like to know is there any other solution for this, keeping my JDK Version as it is?
    Thanks
    Reji

    I would convert your images to JPegs if possible since they are so much smaller in size and therefore load much quicker. I had exactly the same problem but I sorted it out this way. I know it's a pain and it will probably screw up your view, but it will speed up your load time ten-fold and I don't know of any other work around. sorry...

  • Validate map in FDM takes long time and finally expires

    Hi,
    I have an issue with FDM Mapping.
    When i click the "validate" option in workflow, the FDM processing takes long time (more than an hour) and finally expires.
    But when i open a new web interface, i am seeing a gold fish on validate - which means validate mapping has been done.
    As we are in production environmeny, Can someone quickly clarify me, why this happen.
    Thanks,
    Siva

    Hello Kelly,
    Something you said concerns me: +"Because we automated data loads for the large file, this issue is extremely low on the priority list."+
    In this type of scenario we notice customers/partners implementing FDM as an 'ETL' utility. FDM is not an ETL utility and should not be treated/used as such. In the event that you are doing this, Support has no control of the application as it is a mis-use of what FDM is for.
    Files that are being pushed into FDM should always be broken down into the smallest components(locations) and used as a 'front end,' user interface.... not a server-side/IT application. If you meet this criteria of FDM, then there is not much Support can do.
    If you do not think you are misusing FDM, I would highly suggest you open/create a Support SR if you do not use FDM in that manor. Consultants/Partners are functional/design based.... and not necessarily trained as Support Engineers. Therefore they might not have the skills required to make such determinations.
    Thank you,

    Get rid of the tracking cookies. They are used to profile and track your browsing history. While they are privacy invading, by calling them spyware, MacScan is being a little dramatic in trying to sell you its crap. And in the future, for whatever browser you use, don't allow third-party cookies.
    To prevent tracking, get Ghostery. In addition to having Ghostery and forbidding third-party cookies, I clear out all cookies from one browsing session to another. If you always do that, you won't have any tracking cookies to worry about, so you won't need MacScan to find them for you. Btw, MacScan finds the tracking cookies in the first few minutes of scanning; if you want to use it for that, then that's all the time you need to run it for. But, as I said, you won't have any tracking cookies around if you just remove all cookies and don't allow third-party cookies. As soon as you visit a site that needs them, you'll just get new ones. No problem.
    Read all about cookies here.

  • Why it takes long time to execute on Production than staging?

    Hi Experts,
    Any help apreciated on below issue.
    I have one anonymous block for updating around 1 million records by joining 9 tables.
    This is proceeded to production by following environments. And all env have exact equal volume of data.
    development->Testing->Staging->Production.
    The funny problem is while it takes 5 mins to be executed in all environments, it takes 30 mins on production.
    why it happned and what can be action points for future?
    Thanks
    -J
    ==============
    If the performance is that different in the different environments, one or more statements must have different query plans in the different environments. The first step would be to get the query plans and compare them to figure out which statement(s) is/are running slowly.
    If there are different query plans, that implies that something is different between the environments. That could be any of
    - Oracle version
    - initialization parameters
    - data
    - object statistics
    - system statistics
    If you guarantee that the data is the same, I would tend to expect that the object statistics are different. How have you gathered statistics in the various environments? Can you move statistics from an environment where performance is acceptable to the environment where performance is unacceptable?
    I would also recommend following the advice others have given you. You don't want to commit in a loop and you want to do as much processing in SQL as possible.

    Thanks Steve for your inputs.
    My investigation resulted following 2 points.
    There are 2 main reasons why some scripts might take longer in live than on Staging.
    1: Weekend backups were running on the live server so slowing the server down allot.
    2: the tables are re-orged when they are imported into staging/Dev – so the table and index layout is optimal, on live the tables and indexes are not necessarily contiguous so in order to do the same work the server will need to do many more I/O operations.
    Can we have some action points to address these above issues?
    I think if data can be contigous then it may help.

    I think if data can be contigous then it may help.First , I didn't get at all what actually was that thing when you copied some part of don't know which post in your actual question? Please read this , it would help you post a proper question to get a proper answer ,
    http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
    Now, how did you come to the conclusion that the backups are actually making your query slower? What's the benchmark that you lead to this? And what's the meaning of the 2nd point , can you please explain it ?
    As others have also mentioned, please post the plan of the query at boththe staging and production, that only can tell that what's going on.
