Sale of iPhone 4gb

I will be selling my "vintage" 4gb iphone this summer. I'll either be purchasing the current 3g model or the one that MIGHT be coming out this June or July.
My questions is this:
When the buyer of my 4 gb phone activates it, I assume AT&T will just put in a new sim card and then they can activate the phone through itunes as per usual.
I'll be keeping my original sim card (from old phone) and putting it in my new phone, unless I'm wrong here.
The reason I ask, is that I'll be selling my vintage phone to a friend who will soon be asking me all these questions. So any help here will be helping both of us.
I'm getting ready to go over to ebay and check out the selling price of the original 4gb phones.
Thanks for any responses.

Correct.

You're wrong here. You'll need a 3G SIM card for the new iPhone; your old SIM card will not work. Use the one that comes with the new phone. You can toss the old SIM card.

Read this article and the reference it makes unlocking http://bit.ly/TZsEel
    It says
In other words, phones you already have, as well as those purchased between now and next January, can be unlocked. But phones purchased after January 2013 can only be unlocked with the carrier's permission.

Cuando sale el IPhone 5c a Colombia?

Apple has not announced a date when the new iPhones will be released on Colombia. Your cell carriers - Claro, Movistar and Tigo - will be the source of information for release dates when they are announced.

  • Exchange the iPhone 4GB

Why exchange only the iPhones 4GB for an iPhone 8GB bought in a certain period of time and not ALL the iPhones 4GB disregarding the period they were bought? Why should I be penalized for having bought the iPhone 4GB in the first days it was released?

Being 'penalized' is a bizarre concept. The device you have right this moment is exactly the same one you bought. It does the same things it did when it was new, works the same way it did when it was new, provides the same functions and resources it did when it was new, and continues to be supported in exactly the same way as it was before. In what way is your iPhone anything less than it was when you decided it was worth buying at the price being asked for it?

That doesn't actually make sense, so despite the use of the question mark it's not easy to answer. However, if you're saying what it appears you are, you clearly misunderstand what's happening. No 4Gb iPhones are being exchanged for 8Gb ones, regardless of when they were bought. 4Gb models continue to be sold - with the same $200 price cut as the 8Gb model - while remaining stocks last (of which I'd bet there are many). People who bought either model in the last couple of weeks should be able to get the $200 balance refunded, while people who bought longer ago can avail themselves of the $100 store credit when the details have been decided next week. Owners of 4Gb iPhones are being treated exactly the same as owners of 8Gb iPhones. And 4Gb iPhones will continue to be eligible for the same updates and service, support and warranty as 8Gb models.

There are none. You would need to deal directly with Apple.

  • Just ordered iPhone 4GB should I upgrade to an 8GB ?

A few days ago right after Apple announced the price reduction on the iPhones I ordered an iPhone 4GB from the Apple.com website as I look further I noticed there are some refurbished 8GB iPhones available for $349 has anyone had any experience with the refurbished iPhones from Apple? Are they just as good as new ones? Is there really a huge difference in the 4GB to 8GB i doubt i'll be adding alot of videos to the iPhone. Would it be wise just to keep the 4GB even though its been discontinued?

Much depends on what you're going to be using your iPhone for (i.e. iPod, prolonged internet surfing etc.) as not everyone utilizes every facet of the phone. You mentioned that you probably wouldn't be downloading a lot of videos but it's nice to know you have that option with memory to spare. Even at full price, it was worth it for me to pay the extra $100 and double the capacity. I've not heard much feedback on the iPhone refurbs but Cingular/AT&T have always provided good quality with other refurbished phones in the past.

  • 4GB iphone with some issues HELP

I have a jailbroken iphone 4gb. It is not unlocked. There is something wrong with it, sometimes the screen will say to take it to apple support. However the phone does power on and the screen and LCD work perfectly. The power button also doesn't work so I can't turn it off, but it comes on automatically after being charged.
Any ideas on how to fix it??? Im sure it can be fixed.

Restore your iPhone with iTunes to get rid of whatever garbage you have installed on your iPhone, which is not approved nor supported by Apple.
If this doesn't resolve it, contact AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby. If Apple can determine that you have hacked your iPhone with jailbreak, your warranty will very likely be void.

  • IPhone appts synced to Outlook keep disappearing in Outlook

I create appointments on the iPhone. It syncs to Outlook 2007 and generally appears in the day/week/month views. At some point later, the appointment disappears from the day/week/month view.
It is visible, instead, only if I go to the "Outlook Today" view or on the "To-Do Bar". It doesn't show it in the Day View, the Week View, or the Month View. They're always visible on the iPhone.
I feel like a crazy person. Why am I not seeing these appointments in the normal view??
    This never happened before 2.0.
    Setup:
    - local (non-exchange) outlook 2007

  • Trasferring Contact Information to iPhone

I know this is early, but does anyone know if you can transfer contact information from Palm to the iPhone?

iTunes gets the information from either your Apple OS X address book, or your Outlook Address Book -- so you have to sync your Palm info with those, and then it will go to your iPhone.
"iPhone syncs with the address book you already use on your computer — Address Book or Entourage on a Mac, or Outlook or Outlook Express on a PC. If you keep your contacts on the web using Yahoo! Address Book, iPhone can sync with them, too. To get ready for iPhone, organize your contacts in one of these applications and make sure they’re up to date with the latest phone numbers and email addresses. If you don’t have contacts on your computer, don’t worry. You can still enter them directly into iPhone."

    Cordialement,
    Jean-Benoit Pirotte
possesseur d'un iPhone 5s et client Proximus

I acquired an IPhone 5 for 515€ on October 8th, 2012, with for main selling point the first compatible iPhone 4G LTE (TV commercials, selling point seller). The problem is that in France networks 4G LTE works on different frequency bands according to your operator. Only BOUYGUES (band(strip) 1800 mhz) is compatible with the iPhone 5. Unfortunately I am not at BOUYGUES. Of more new situation for the mark(brand) which removed completely from the sale the IPhone 5 to replace him(it) by the 5S and the 5C it are compatible. Surprising! I thus contacted the technical Apple service to request a sales offer of Call(Appeal) to the resumption of my IPhone 5 for one 5 s Ask motivated by my brand loyalty (1 iPad, 2 iphones) as well as my satisfaction of the quality of their products. In the first one so much I fell on a downright refusal then the same person a senior technician of Apple contacts me by telephone the next day. The technician indicates to me after piece of information with his colleagues, there is a sales department, he sends them an e-mail concerning my demand(request), I should receive an answer by the end of the week. End of the week no piece of news(short story), I thus decide to contact again them, after several expectations(waits) of the technician, to the senior technician, to the superior(higher education), I have for answer; no possible sales offer, I would have to turn around with the operators. To summarize: Apple sold its compatible iPhone 5 4G LTE was a misleading advertising. According to Apple it is in the mobile phone operators to change their frequencies to make compatible a single IPhone smartphone 5. Automobile metaphor: Ford sells a model of cars in France but unfortunately this one cannot roll on our road network problem of conformity with the French standards too wide! The solution is to turn around towards our government to modify our road network! It does not belong to the manufacturer of smartphone to produce their

  • I cat't buy iPhone because I have an account with ATT!!!!!

Hello!!!! I want to get 2 iPhones for me and my GF and I contacted ATT and they said I have to pay full price becuase I am not eligible for the discounted price since I only have the plan since may!!! They sent me an email and they said that because of the agreement with Apple they are not allowed to sell the iPhone at the discounted price if you are not eligible for an upgrade or a new customer. I think is not fair because I will still pay the $30 data plan and the ATT is geting the money back from that over the term of the contract and plus I have a big minutes plan . What you guys think of that . Apple should make the iPhone available to all the ATT customers since they will pay the plan anyway and nobody is losing anything . I really don't get this and I hope that by holiday season they will take care of that since they will need the push that since the sale of iPhone is going to give them a nice profit over the holiday season considering the economic situation! Thank you !!!

I had a subsidized phone with an AT&T contract as well. They generally will allow the "main" number in a family plan to upgrade to a subsidized phone in less than the 2 years...often about 1 1/2 years or less. I was able to get a subsidized iPhone in September (I may have been eligible earlier but didn't check into it prior to that). My husband can't upgrade until December and that will be 4 or 5 months before the current 2 year contract expires on his phone.
I had lengthy conversation with AT&T both at the store and in a follow up conversation on the phone about why someone could walk in off the street (non AT&T customer) and get the subsidized price but my husband could not. I was also informed about the fact that they already subsidized our previous phones and that's why he was not eligible for the reduced price.
I guess I can understand why if they let you do it all the time you would be looking for the latest and greatest upgrades and probably selling your subsidized phones at a profit when you got a new one.
I will add that when I called customer service at AT&T to see if they had any way to let my husband upgrade earlier (at the suggestion of my in store salesman) I was also told that their agreement with Apple prohibited them from doing that any earlier. He would have given my husband an earlier than normal upgrade on any other phone, but explained they had absolutely no flexibility on the iPhone per their agreement with Apple.
Obviously I have no way of knowing if that is true since I haven't seen their agreements. I assume if I walked into an Apple store to buy the phone, they would look at our AT&T account and tell us the same thing.
My husband has been "playing" with my phone quite a bit while we're out and about and I know he likes it. But yesterday I asked him if he still wants to get one in December when he's eligible and he said he's not sure. If he'd been eligible when I bought mine he would already have bought it!
