Salutation in Portal Welcome Area

Hello,
we have an integrated BI Portal 7.0 on BI 7.0. Our problem is the salutation inside the welcome are. As our UME is the SAP locale we can change the language of the user with transaction su3.
Unfortunately changing the language does not have effect onto the salutation. seems like there is no translation for it. Using the normal translation tools won't help here.
Does anybody know where the property file is located for the salutation text?
Thanks for your help and points will be rewarded as answer is helpful.

Hi,
  The property files for salutation is present in the masthead par file. You can check it from System Admin -> Support -> Browser Deployment -> ROOT\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd. Search for masthead. Extract the zip file and get the par.bak file. Rename to .par and open using winzip. You can find the property files inside this par.

  • Portal - Welcome Area - Employee name display

    Dear Experts,
    In portal welcome area, the name is getting diplayed as it is defined in Portal UME. But the client requirement is, employee name has to be displayed as it is in infotype 0002.
    Can anyone implemented this?
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Jay

    yess..Its possible..Its a portal masthead par file custom development. You'll need to modify standard masthead.par and add
    java code to create dynamic JCO..then get users IT002 status from backend.
    Refer this link for masthead par modification:
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/01/18/portal-branding--go-beyond-portal-themes
    and this for dynamic jco

  • Welcome Area Padding in Portal Masthead

    I took a copy of the SAP Tradeshow theme and began to modify it based on my requirements.  The background is white with Welcome Area displaying text in bold / italics / gray.  However, I can't seem to get rid of a dotted rectangular box that appears to adjust its size whenever I change the settings for the "padding" in the Welcome Area.  After login, it seems that the cursor focus is actually on this padding box considering the dotted lines go away if I click somewhere else on the page.
    Has anyone seen this issue before?  Suggestions?

    Hi all
    The focus set for the Welcome Area is set due to the javascript function document.<some_element>.focus()
    In the masthead this is set for the Welcome Area.  Now if you have a closer look at the portal component com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead you will notice the jsp page for the masthead: HeaderiView.jsp under PORTAL-INF\jsp
    In this jsp page is the function:
    function setFocusOnHeader()
         if (document.getElementById("welcome_message").currentStyle.display != "none")
              document.getElementById("welcome_message").focus();
         else if (document.getElementById("header_notch").currentStyle.display != "none")
              document.getElementById("header_notch").focus();
    Here you can see exactly where Welcome Area is getting the focus...so how do you "FIX" it?
    - Create a copy of the masthead portal component
    - Change the jsp function to not set the focus
    - Re-package the new custom portal masthead component (com.yourcompany.portal.navigation.masthead) and deploy
    - Create a new iView based upon this par file and attach to the framework page
    Voila!
    Cheers
    Ankit
    PS - If this isnt easy enough to follow then I may look at putting together a blog at some stage with this and other enhancements to the masthead!

  • JAVASCRIPT ERROR WHEN DISABLED THE WELCOME AREA

    Hi sdn,
    I have modified our portal design. I set the welcome area and the logo area to the value none. Now I am always getting a javascript error when I call the side in my browser.
    I get the message that an object is missing and the browser can not set the focus to an element ==> because I have disabled two areas of the portal header.
    I have recognized this problem in all portal releases from EP6SP2 to EP6SP9.
    What can I do to prevent these error messages?

    I think this issue is fixed by this note : 798647. Suggested to go with latest hotfix.

    I tried to disable Portal favorites option from Content admin -> Default Frame work Page -> Detailed navigation. Instead of only disabling the default navigation I have disabled the entire Portal content area and I am now not able to see any content  in the Portal except the masthead area and the Top level navigation.
    Can any one please help me on this.

    Hi,
    Check the content area iview in the Desktop inner page in framework page.If this iview is not there then it will not show the content area.
    If desktop inner page is deeted then also you will not see the content area.
    If so please add the content area iview indside the Desktop inner page then you can see the content area for the users.
    Content area iview will be available under the following path of the portal
    Content Administration > Portal Content > Content provided by sap > Admin Interfaces > Admin Iview Templates > Content Area (view).

    Balu,
    Well this issue has been discussed many a times in forums. You would have to point your data source to ABAP system.
    Check this thread in [here|J2EE Failed to start  , after changing UME datasource;.

  • BI content with folder structure in portal Content Area

    HI Dear Friends,
    I have  a requirement in my current project where i am integrating the BI reports with SAP EP.Iviews are associated with BI Reports.In the portal on clicking workset it should display folders in the portal content area with Icons instead of in Detail navigation .On click of the displayed folders it should display its sub content with Icons.
    I tried in all ways but later i came to know there there is a SAP BI business package which would come up with predifined iviews associated with BI. By importing this business package we can dispaly the  BI content in the portal in a folder format .
    I am using BI and EP 7.0 versions.
    Ratnakar

    Ratnakar,
       Let me understand your requirements, correct me if I understood it wrong. You need to display BI reports in Folder structure that is similar when you log on through BEx analyzer or WAD. If this is correct, then you need to upload the BI Role which contain all the required Folder structures and it BI Queries or BI Queries url assigned to that role.Once you upload this role on to portal , you will see folder structure on PCA.
    Example
    BI Reports  - Folder 1
      I--> FI reports  -- Subfolder 1
      I            I--> AP reports 1
      I--> CO reports  -- Subfolder 2
                   I--> Cost Report 1
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers,

  • XML Form - Link open in Portal Content Area

    I have created an XML form which displays a list of images as links to KM documents (eg a Read More... link).
    The problem I have run into is that any link that you click on opens up in a new window.
    Is there a setting somewhere that indicates that all links should be opened in the portal content area, rather than in a new window?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Kind Regards
    Rasim

    Rasim,
    You can try doing this.
    Logon to Portal.
    Click Personalize option on the top left corner and choose work protect mode.
    Choose "Discard unsaved data (open page in same window)"
    Save and Exit.
    Logoff and relogin and check.
    Hope this helps.

  • Open KM Navigation Content in Portal Content area

    Folks,
    We have a km navigation iview and want to open the contents in the portal content area instead of opening the links in a new window. I don't find any configurable options. What are the development effort options and how big is the effort? Any hint will be very helpful.
    Regards,
    Tridib

    Hi Tridib,
    see /thread/87593 [original link is broken] for the example of external links. If I'm right in this, the same would hold for other renderers.
    Hope it helps

  • Open KM Document in Portal Content Area

    Hi All,
    I have created a KM Document iview. I did upload 1 document in KM Repository (test.doc) and have given this path in the document iview.
    Now when I preview the iview......then i get a dialog box Open, Save, Cancel. On pressing Open, the doc gets opened in the New Window in MS Word.
    I want the document to be opened in the same window when I click on the link.
    Plz let me know how to achieve this.
    Regards
    Nikhil

    Hi,
           At the iveiw level (document iview or URL iview), you can set the property "Launch in New window" to "Display in Portal content Area".
            Consider awarding points if this helps.

  • SAPUI5 Application doesn't display in Portal Content Area

    Hallo Guys
    We are developing a SAPUI5 application that needs to be displayed inside the portal.
    The problem is that the SAPUI5 app doesn't display in in the content area, no erors, just a blank page, you have to set the iview to open in a seperate headerless window, then it works. But it needs to work in the content area.
    Our findings: a possible cause is that the IE mode when inside the Portal content area is IE5 Quirks, and when it displays in a new window, the mode changes to a more recent and acceptable mode for SAPUI5, IE9.
    Is there any solution to this? We get the same result with both URL iView and using the SAPUI5 iView in content provided by SAP. We are on NW 7.4
    Regards
    Antonette

    Hi Antonette,
    As Lawrence explained the reason is indeed that quirks and standards mode can't run together on the same page (not only in portal but it's a limitation by MS).
    Since your framework page is in IE5 quirks mode the UI5 application doesn't run in the content area, you can run it by selecting in the iView properties "Launch in a new headerless window (strandards)", that will open the UI5 application in a new window and will work.
    If you wish to run UI5 applications in the content area you can get latest SP of 7.4 and there you will have a new framework page: standards AFP, basically an AFP framework page that works in standards mode.
    In that framework page you can run UI5 applications in the content area, however trying to run old applications (HTMLB, not WD) may fail, for WD you have a paramater you need to pass called sap-ie, passing it with the value of "Edge" will make sure WD applications run in standards mode as well.
    When running the AFP in standards mode you will need to open your HTMLB and other old applications in a new headerless window or new window so you can see the content.
    Hope this helped,

  • How to add a custom iview to the portal tool area

    Hello:
    We want to add some simple text like date,day and some
    more things to the portal tool area, where a KM search
    box, and collobaration link exists now.
    I tried to look up for the tool area iview par file, but
    only found, *.ept file only which doesn't contain any
    code.
    I hope atleast some of the clients might have tried this.
    If you will you please shed some light on how to achieve
    this task.
    Thank you very much in advance for the help,
    Prasad Nutalapati

    Hi Prasad,
    try to do this:
    1) download the par file of the standard toolbar. You can find it under:
    \usr\sap\P602\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\services\servlet_jsp\work\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
    its name is: com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par.bak
    2)import it into eclipse with another name, i.e. com.customer.portal.navigation.toolarea
    3) modify as you need the jsp contained in it in order to satisfy your requirements.
    4) deploy the par into the portal and create a new iview based on it.
    5) put this iview into the framework page you want to use, hiding/deleting standard toolbar
    these steps are OK if you want simply modify the layout of the toolbar, you cannot modify the logic behind it.
    If you need to do that, for example add some buttons which perform some custom actions, you have to develop a new component from scratch using the portal development paradigms.
    I hope this could help you
    Cheers
    Roberto
