Same alias listed twice in Mail

I setup an alias through .Mac for privacy purposes. In the .Mac mail preferences, I gave the alias a fake name. However, in Mail, the alias shows up twice in the account list when composing a new message. It shows up with both my real name and then again with the fake name.
Example Account List:
My Name <[email protected]>
My Name <[email protected]>
My Fake Name <[email protected]>
Does anyone know how I can get it to stop listing the alias with my real name in Mail? It also chooses the real name one to reply with by default when anyone sends an e-mail to my alias.

you can't. They are all part of the same account, which has your name specified (see mail.app preferences > accounts > account info > full name). So actually, I am surprised your fake name from .Mac webmail shows up in the first place. I would just be happy that it did show up, and be careful when replying.
(Mail.app, unlike thunderbird, does not allow different full names for every email address that is part of the same account. (It does allow different full names for different accounts, but that's a diff story))

Showing the same band name twice in arist list in music.

On my ipod touch in the artist section of music it will show the same band twice. I have restored he ipod touch and got rid of the albums from the band and put them back on but it will still list the same band name twice.
Any way to fix this??

I noticed in artist info it listed the band's name twice and i corrected but its still messed. up whats goin on is when i got to the list of artist in my ipod touch it will list them twice each one showing the three albums i got from them. i dont know ill look into it further. but keep the advice comin.

Artists are listed twice (but are exactly the same in format)

I have several artists (some examples are Dave Matthews and Pat Green...but there are tons!) that are listed twice in the artist section on my ipod. I made sure they are spelled correctly and I can't figure out any other reason my ipod won't list them one time. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, how can I make my ipod list artists once? Thanks!

I had this problem too. I came to find that there was a space either before or after the artists name. Obviously you cant see a space so they will look normal. Check it out, this may be the problem

In my old iPhone3 I had these accounts set up so that I could send and receive email from both accounts. I did this using the following settings:
‘Other’ POP account info:
Name: xyz
Address: [email protected]
Description: alias
Incoming mail server:
Host name: pop.mail.yahoo.com
User name: [email protected]
Password: password for yahoo account
Server port: 995
Outgoing mail server:
SMTP: smtp.o2.co.uk (o2 is the name of my phone network)

Password: password for yahoo account
Description: Yahoo!
Outgoing mail server:
Primary server: Yahoo! SMTP server

I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?

A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
Any help appreciated.

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Is this happening at the bottom in the signature section, or in the header of the mail where your email address is? If it is the signature, then go to the Signature area of the Mail settings. If this is in the header, then go to the account in question and edit your account information to include your name instead of Johnny.

One of the folders of Robo Help Project Manager is listed twice in Windows Explorer. One has all the subfolders and topics of it and the other has all the subfolders but not the topics. How did I get into this kind of situation? Why do I have two folders? Can somebody please answer on this?
Since my RH project is attached to Visual Source Safe (VSS), the same structure is mirroring in VSS.

After reviewing the image I see that what you might think are two of the same folder are two different folders similar in name.
One is named Advanced_Functionality. The other is named Advanced_Funtionality (note the missing C).
I'm assuming this is the folder you are referring to?

Welcome to the Support Communities!
The individual contacts are sorted first within the Contact application. When you create a group in Contacts, the individual names in the group should keep the same sorting order. Try resetting the name order for all contacts.
Contacts (Mavericks): List contacts by first or last name

Choose whether contacts’ first or last names are listed first, and whether they’re sorted by first or last name.
Change the name order for all contacts
Choose Contacts > Preferences, then click General.
Select an option next to “Show first name.”
Sort contacts
Choose Contacts > Preferences, then click General.
Use the Sort By menu to choose how to sort.

Tax claddification in BP listed twice

Hi group,
In BP (general role) the tax classification subscreen is listed twice. Once in the Identification tab and once in the Control tab. As my customer doesn't use any other fields in the Control tab I set all other fields to hide. The Control tab therefore now only contains the tax classification subscreen, exactly the same as the one on the bottom of Identification tab. I would like to hide the Control tab, but in BDT it seems that there is no way to only hide the subscreen in that specific tab. After setting the tax classification to hide the Control tab disappears, which is good. The Identification tab unfortunately also doesn't show the tax classification anymore.
Any ideas?

ICloud twice in Mail

My iPad 2 shows my iCloud account twice in Mail. Both accounts appear to be the same, but iCloud is only defined once in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. In fact, if I change the name of the account there to "iCloud 2" then it changes both in Mail to iCloud 2.
Anybody else seeing this? Any ideas what to do about it?

I imagine the solution is probably just to remove the iCloud account from my iPad and add it again. However, I'm unwilling to do that without adequate precautions (backing up all e-mail, calendar data and contacts off the cloud very, very thoroughly first). I simply haven't had the time yet to deal with it.

HELP ! : PODCAST SUBSCRIPTIONS LISTED TWICE AFTER LIBRARY RESTORE

I have restored my entire itunes library onto my new computer.
When I restore my podcast subscriptions by drag and dropping the 'Podcasts' playlist over to the library a number of the subscriptions get listed twice.
How do I get all of the podcast episodes to appear under one subscription in itunes ?
Technically I know the reason why this is happening. It is because the podcast author at some point have changed the URL feed for their podcast. So some episodes come from an old URL location and some from the new location.
When itunes imports the podcasts it groups the old podcasts under one subscription heading and the more recent ones under another heading. However both have the same name hence duplicate podcast subscription titles !
Is there any way of forcing itunes to arrange all the podcast episodes under one subscription heading ?

I have been fighting the same issue for over a year, every time there is a new version released I get hopeful and scour the boards for a new solution, but alas no.

"On My Mac" listed twice in Mailboxes bar

"On My Mac" is listed twice at the bottom of my Mailboxes bar. I guess that's not a huge problem...but it is a problem. Anyone else experiencing this, or know how to fix it?

In Mail 2.x, the category header above all the custom mailboxes created to be stored on your Hard Drive was left off. It had been there in earlier versions, so I think one is the return of that heading, the lack of which had been a subject of complaint.
I have not played with reminders, yet, but I suspect it may be somewhat like Trash, where there is an On My Mac trash mailbox for any messages deleted from any On My Mac mailboxes. I will have to experiment with Reminders to know more.

My MacAir cannot see the same WiFi router twice, why?
So if it gets connected to a WiFi then gets disconnected for any reason, I cannot reconnect it to the same WiFi again as it cannot see that specific router again.
Unless, in my case, I turn on my Galaxy note 10.1 Tethering hotspot which it sees ALL the time then the Wifi router shows again so I can reconnect to it.
This happens at home and at work and at any other place... so No, there is no problem with my router or WiFi connection.
it is really getting to my nerves.
the whole purpose of me getting a MacAir is the light weight!
Now I have to carry my Galaxy Note 10.1 around with me, especially if I am going out, so I can get connected to WiFi!!
Can anyone help me out!

Try the following on your MBP, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)
