Same app - is it possible?
Hi,
Not sure, if this is the right place to ask my question.
I am developing an app and I am planning to sell/ market this app as
1. a full free version [for users who have already purchased something from portal]
2. and as a paid app for users who have not purchased anything from the portal.
Does Apple allow to sell the app as described above? Kindly, guide me...

This is probably not what I should be telling you but the App Store isn`t the right place for this. Create your app with an HTML + CSS frontend and a php or rails backend. Make these apps mobile friendly and post links to them on your site. At the start of these pages you are going to want to put a php check once method. This will check if the user has the correct user crendentials to gain access to the page. You can do anything with HTML, php and Javascript. The browser is your friend. Treat it as such. (:

I work with Assistive Technologies that enable people with various disabilites to use computing devices, such as the iPad. Some people do not have the fine motor skills to precisely tap the intended app icon. If I had a page full of app icons that launched the same app then I might have a workaround.

At the moment, no. The app store won't let you re-download an app already installed, and they all come in single icons.
The accessibility settings enable a zoom feature, but if your clients have difficulty tapping an app, they may have issues using three fingers simultaneously to zoom in/out.
There is a voice ability, but I've just spent the last 10 minutes playing with it and successfully called everyone in my phonebook (And i only wanted to open iBooks)
If you turn the iPad landscape you still have the same amount of apps on the page, just spaced out a little more, giving more margin for error/ But this still requires the same 'touch space area' to activate the app.
This might be something Apple could look at, with pressure from users such as yourself and your clients.

The Mac uses Mac OS X and iDevices use iOS. These are two different operating systems and the apps must be written for each operating system specifically, even when the apps go by the same name, such as the iWork apps, they are two ifferent versions of the same app for the two different platforms.
So, as an example, Safari has been written for three different operating systems, Mac OS X, iOS and Windows. And the Safari apps, as similar as they are visually, are not interchangeable for the different platforms. -

Situation is I got a New iPad and my wife 'inherited' my iPad2. We use ONE Apple iTunes account. I've dup'ed the iPad2 over to the New iPad. We use two computers and each has iTunes on it. No problems at this point.
Now I added an app to my iPad, and my wife wants it. She went to the app store and it shows as 'already installed'. Again, we're both using the same account (I don't want 2). Looked at Previous Purchases, same thing, already installed, grayed out.
So the question is can I do what I want, that is install the same app on 2 iPads? If so, how?

Irv S.Sure - as long as you use the same apple ID on both devices you can download it to both devices. Why is is greyed out on her iPad is not clear to me - other than the app is actually on her iPad via Automatic Downloads and she doesn't realize that its on the device. Is that possible?
Search for the app on her iPad- swipe to the right from the first home screen and type in the name of the App at the top in the search field. Does it show up? -

I have an app called Astrogold that crashes when I run one function, but no one else I know with the same app experiences the crash. The app writes several different reports, and gives the option of sending them as PDF files. All the other reports generate fine, but one of them....and that one crashes the app while it is trying to generate the report.
Note: it only crashes the display. If I double click the home button I see the app itself is still running.
I checked my Diagnostics & Usage data, and noticed that every time the app crashes a LowMemory report is created. I looked at the LowMemory report and see that the Largest process is Astrogold. But I don't see any reports with the name of the app itself.
I have an iPhone 5c, and according to iTunes I have 2.25 GB Free.

Different versions of the same app on the app store
Is it possible to let users download the different versions of the same app from the App store,( even though I have not seen it but just wonder whether it is possible) ?
If not then can we have different releases of the same product with different feature set.

One of my Windows 8 store app is almost ready for store submission.
What is the best approach for publishing a paid version and an ad supported free version of the same app.
Can I do the following
1. Submit the app with unlimited free trial to store
2. During the free trial ads will be displayed
3. If the user purchases the app, then the ad would not displayed

Best RegardsAlthough the in-App purchase option is good but for ad based apps my approach is different.
I would suggest putting 2 different apps in the store, one free with Ads and one without. Reason being you want the extra reference and xaml ad controls depending upon how
many you have on the paid version of the apps. I would keep my apps as lighter and cleaner as possible specially when its a paid app.
I currently manage both free and paid app through one solution and reuse most of the code except for the views.

DH has discovered he loves angry birds but so do I, so I don't want him playing my game (lol) but when I tried to purchase again it says 'installed'.

I have the 8gig iPod touch 4gen (if that make any difference at all)I recently installed my 5.1 beta 3 on my iPhone 4 and it wiped out everything on my phone. I didn't have any recent backups so I didn't back up my phone, I set it up as a "new iPhone". Am I going to be charged again for the apps I download if I use the same iTunes/Apple ID? Normally, it says something along the lines of 'this update is free because you previously downloaded this app..", but this time it did not. I'm downloaded a $50 app, so this has me worried.

Not on the same itunes account, but on different ones!
I was trying to find out which one I installed it on but couldn't find out!
Is it possible I can get a refund?!
It was a 25 dollar app!

My family has a iTunes account in common, but now i have made my own. Is it possible for me to get the IOS apps and mac apps I bought on the other account. My mom don't want to use them anyway, and we don't want to pay for the same apps over again. Is their any way to link our accounts together as family?

no.
but you can authorize iTunes for up to five iTunes store accounts so purchases made with your mom's and your new account can be used/played.
the only downside is that you will have to sign out of one account and into the other each time an update for an app purchased with the other account is available. -
Switch between fullscreen windows of same app
I have Safari open and have multiple windows that are opened as fullscreen. I want to be able to switch between the fullscreen windows of Safari with a keyboard keystroke. When not in fullscreen I can use Cmd-` to switch between windows of the same app but I am unable to do this in fullscreen mode and perfer to use the keyboard as much as possible. Any help would be great.
So far I've found that I can use ctrl-left and ctrl-right to switch back and forth between widgets, desktop, and fullscreens but I would rather use cmd-tab to switch to the app and then switch between windows in that app.

Hi, we are a small clinic that uses the iPads for therapy. If we purchase an app for one iPad, can all of them download the same app at no additional cost?
Allan was somewhat incomplete in his statement. While technically it would be possible, from a licensing standpoint you need one license for each iPad unless those iPads were all going to be used by the same person (which I think unlikely given your described use). Here are the relevant terms of the iTunes Store agreement (emphasis mine):
"(ii) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download and sync an App Store Product for use by either (a) a single individual on one or more iOS Devices used by that individual that you own or control or (b) multiple individuals, on a single shared iOS Device you own or control. For example, a single employee may use an App Store Product on both the employee's iPhone and iPad, or multiple students may serially use an App Store Product on a single iPad located at a resource center or library. For the sake of clarity, each iOS Device used serially by multiple users requires a separate license."
So you would legally need to purchase one copy of the app for each iPad, something which would require an iTunes Store account for each iPad. For normal purchases, each iTunes Store account would need an associated credit card or prepaid iTunes card.
The Volume Purchase Plan works similarly - you still need one license and one iTunes Store account for each iPad - but the purchasing is centralized so you don't get billed multiple times. You get one recemption code for each license you purchase. See:
