Same apple ID - Find my iphone

we have two iphones and an ipod touch operating in our house all with the same apple id and one of the iphone were just stolen out my partners van ive logged onto my 'find my iphone' app and it is showing my phone and my sons ipod but not my partners phone (which has just been stolen) my son also recieves messages on his ipod that are sent to my partners iphone and vice versa but my iphone (being the main operator) does not recieve thier msgs so my question is if my partners iphone is switched back on will it show up on the 'find my iphone' app under my sons ipod (if his is not visable through wi-fi) as we are all conected to the same apple id?

using "find my iphone" does not matter if you have the 3 devices on the same account.
the reason your lost iphone may not show up is likely...
1) the device is turned off by the theif
2) if the device was not locked with a password, the theif may have been able to turn off the "find my iphone" feature
3) if the device was locked, the theif might have already erased all content and restored the iphone to factory settings
4) find my iphone may never have been turned on, on the device?

  • I have the same Apple ID on my iPhone and iPad. If i turn off "find my iPhone" on my iPad, will it also be turned off on my iPhone?

My iPhone is broken, but I have to turn off find my iPhone. So without a working iPhone I had to do it with my iPad. I have the same Apple ID on my iPhone and iPad, and I have turned off find my iPhone(iPad) on my iPad, but is it then turned off on my iPhone as well? And if it is not, what can i do to turn it off, now that i can't do it with the phone?

I do not think so, but the easiest way to find out is to try it.
edit: after rereading your post, there is not a way to try it with a broken phone. If the phone is broken, I think I would destroy it. Then it is a moot question.

  • How do i track my ipod if it has the same apple id as my iphone?

i lost my ipod touch and i know it has the track my iphone app. but it also uses that same apple id as my iphone. so when i try to track it on my iphone it tells me that it found my iphone but not my ipod touch.
in case i lost it somewhere at home then it should still be connected to my wifi. so i should be able to track it.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up. It will also not show up if not connected to wifi/internet

  • FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.

FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.
This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling.  This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID.  I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it.  I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc.  I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada.  I keep getting this message from the Mac.
I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems.  I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss.  As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work.  This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
Bluetooth is turned on for both devices.  Both devices are on the same WiFi network.  Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).
    Thanks in advance,

(By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

Deleting an account from a device will not delete the information from the account, if that is what you are asking.

I'm using same icloud and same apple ID on two iphones. Now i get calls from same number on both iphones at the same time. How to turn off that?

Apple ID's are not device specific, so when you changed it on the iPad 2 it changed it on the iPhone 4 as well, since it's the same account still. What you need to do is create a second Apple ID (so you'll have two accounts, one for iPhone 4 and a seperate one for iPad 2).
To create a new Apple ID on your iPad 2:
    1) Go into Settings > Store.
    2) If you are already signed in, tap your Apple ID on the screen and you will be given a few options, one of which is to sign out of your account.
    3) After you sign out, now click the "Sign in" button.
    4) Tap "Create New Apple ID" and follow the instructions on-screen.

  • I used the same apple id on two iphones

used the same apple id on two iphones, and one of them i gave away. I signed out and deleted all the data that is connected to me. But the person who has my iphone, can see all imessages i get or send. And my apple id always appears on that phone... And of course when that person sends messages, it shows that it was sent from my email or phone. So is there a solution?

He has to un-sing of iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime and of course you have to change your Apple ID password!

If you are using the internet then it's eating away at your data plan, irrespective of your Apple ID.

I used the same apple id for my iphone and my husbands now all our contacts and such are together.  How do I undo this?  Do i create him a different icloud account?

Yes, start with deleting your account on his device:
(Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Your Account)
In the next step, create a new account on his device:
(Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Your Account)

Cannot Turn On iPhone Cellular Calls - FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.
I *AM* signed into Facetime and iCloud using the same Apple ID.  Why am I receiving this error all of a sudden?  I make calls using my Mac and need this feature.  I have tried disabling and re-enabling both over a dozen times.  TRUST ME, it is NOT user error -- it is Apple releasing features before they are fully ready error!

  • I have been using the same Apple ID for 2 iPhones. How can I create another Apple ID to distinguish them?

I have been using the same Apple ID for 2 iPhones. How can I create another ID to distinguish them?

    www.icloud.com
Or, go to the App store, sign out of your current account. Try to make a purchase and it will ask you to sign in, or create a new account.
You can do it through iTunes as well.

  • I am using the same Apple id for my iPhone and iPad! Does this cause a problem with apps?

I Was told I should use a whole different I'd with my iPad because if I have both my phone and iPad with the same Apple id it will cause conflict with the apps on each of them. Does this happen?

No. I've been using the same Apple ID on my iPhone and iPad for years without problems. If fact, if both devices are yours and you use both devices having the same Apple ID on each of them is preferable.

  • Ipad Stolen- should I lock it or erase it?  Also, if uphone shares same apple ID, will the iphone also become locked or erased?

Ipad Stolen- should I lock it or erase it?  Also, if uphone shares same apple ID, will the iphone also become locked or erased?
    Thank you!

It prevents a thief from accessing your software and data, but unless it has iOS 7 installed it will not prevent the thief from erasing and restoring it for his/her own use.
If you have iOS 7 installed even if the thief cracks your passcode, they will need to know your Apple ID and password to use it, otherwise, it's bricked.

  • Can I use the same Apple ID for two iPhone's?

Can I use the same Apple ID on both mine and my partners iPhones? and will there be any troubles or problems that may occur?
    Thank you

Yes, but there will be quirks. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
What isn't obvious is that you can use different Apple IDs for different functions on your iPhone; for example iCloud, iTunes & App Stores, Game Center, iMessage and FaceTime can all have different Apple IDs from each other.
If you use the same Apple ID for Find my iPhone then both phone's locations will show up at https://icloud.com/find. Which can be good or bad, depending on your situation.
If you use the same Apple ID for iTunes & App Stores you can have the same apps and music on both phones; some or all of them.
You probably want different Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime; otherwise, you will get each other's messages
    Also different for Game Center.

  • How can I use the same apple id on 2 iphones yet have the owner contact different?

My husband and I both share apps, contacts, calendars, etc and use same apple id...We both own iPhone 5's. When we each set up our iphones, on setting in siri setting and mail, contacts, calendars setting we each put contact for our info... Well the problem is that if I change mine to my info it changes it to his, and same if he changes it to his name on his iphone it changes 'my info' on my iPhone's setting.... so when using siri or mail... we cant identify each phone.... So can we still use same apple id and have separate "my info" settings.....

Short term solution, do this on both devices
Settings > iCloud > Shut off anything you don't want shared
    Long term solution (actual solution)
You need seperate Apple IDs for iCloud. iTunes and iCloud are not the same.
    Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
On one of the devices go Settings > iCloud > Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will seperate your Contacts, Calendars, Messages etc.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share apps and music
