Same Apple id what to do

Me and my girlfriend have the same apple id, but when i try to use imessage or reminders and also anything to do with the icloud it pops up on her phone aswell so what can i do to seperate them and keep all our music on one macbook
please help
thanks

First of all, you will want to establish different iCloud/Apple ID accounts for you and your girlfriend to sync contacts and other data separately. In your setup, you will actually have three iCloud/Apple IDs. One 'main' Apple ID which you use for Store purchases (and is shared between you and your girlfriend), and two new iCloud accounts for each you and your girlfriend to sync everything else.
Yes, you can have both an Apple ID and iCloud account setup on the same device.
On each iOS device, setup the main iCloud (Apple ID - ie [email protected]) account for the following services:
iCloud (Photo Stream and Backup are the only items selected here).
Music Home Sharing
Video Home Sharing
Photo Stream
Additionally, on each iOS device, add a new iCloud account (Under Mail, Contacts, Calendar) that is unique to each user (ie [email protected] or [email protected]) for the following services:
Mail (if using @me.com)
Contacts
Calendars
Reminders
Bookmarks
Notes
Find My iPhone
Messages
Find My Friends
FaceTime
On your individual Macs, use the main Apple ID (ie [email protected]) in iTunes. Then, use the unique iCloud account (ie [email protected] or [email protected]) in/for iCloud.
Now that both you and your girlfriend are using separate iCloud accounts for your Contacts (and other things), her Mac should be syncing with the iCloud account that is associated with her iPhone. Additionally, now that a unique iCloud account exists for her, she can use iMessages, Find my Friends, FaceTime, etc. separately from you.

  • What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?  For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together?  We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

  • We've been using the same Apple Id in the family.  Can I change the ID so each person has their own so we don't end up with each other's data?  How would I do that without losing what is on the Itouch now?

My family has the same Apple ID, which is a problem when we don't have the same data on our products.  Can we have separate Apple IDs for each person?   If so, how can we change it and not lose what we currently have stored on our Ipod Touch/Ipod/Iphone?  I just restored my son'e Itouch and it has Cloud.  Will he delete my husband's contacts (from his Iphone)  if my son deletes contacts on the Ipod Touch?

So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.

Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • I downloaded digital hd copies of movies onto my parents' computer and they have a new computer now, and the movies aren't there, even though they have the same apple ID. What do I do to get them to download?

I downloaded digital hd copies of movies onto my parents' computer and they have a new computer now, and the movies aren't there, even though they have the same apple ID. What do I do to get them to download?
    New computer: Dell, Windows 8.1
    Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
    16 GB RAM
    itunes up-to-date
Old computer: Dell, Microsoft Windows XP
    Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU @ 2.80GHz
    1 GB RAM
itunes not up-to-date (updating it isn't really an option)
I have these movies downloaded on the old computer from digital hd redeemed codes: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Super 98, Thor, Inception, The Hunger Games, and Star Trek Into Darkness. I bought Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on itunes with money, and that one isn't showing up either. When I search it on itunes to see if I can just re-download it, that isn't an option. I would have to buy it again. Home Sharing isn't what I want because the old computer will not be here forever and it is not connected to wifi.
It's kind of a lot of movies, and I want them on the new computer.

im so happy I have a iTunes Card Code absolutely free! I got it at http://linkbitty.com/freeitunes2014

I have an iPhone and recently bought an iPod 4 touch what l am using the same apple ID for. The iPod won't let me download songs from iTunes it is asking me security questions which I don't think I have put answers to in the first place, because of this it won't let me buy any songs on iTunes

It's probably asking you to verify the security code found on the back of your credit card.

I want to update my IWorks which I have downloaded with another Apple ID in this same computer. What I have to do?

Update it from the original Apple ID or delete and redownload the applications when signed into another one; the second option may require repurchasing them.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.
