Same as source file name when converting .msg to PDF
Hello,
When I right click a Word document and choose to convert it to an Adobe PDF file it takes a few seconds and asks me where to save it, not only this but it pre-populates the file name to match the original Word document, but obviously when saved if will be a PDF file - brilliant.
I have a folder structure with hundreds of *.msg files (Outlook email messages). When I do the same as the above the file name is not pre-populated, it is simply called "Memo Style.pdf", which in-turn means I can't batch the process easily either.
I checked the PDF Conversion settings in the Adobe ribbon menu in Outlook, however there is no setting to not prompt for a file name.
What makes this a little worse is the client is adamant this never used to happen and I can see evidence of this.
HELP!
Regards
J
Hello, I'm away from the computer right now. But I have lots of .msg files in a folder, I'm right clicking them in Windows explorer and selecting "Convert to Adobe PDF", when this is selected it triggers Outlook and starts converting the message to PDF, but it pre-populates the name as "Memo Style.pdf" which is a real pain and the client says this never used to be the case. We ideally want to do this in bulk, keeping the name it has before, but with the new .pdf extension - again the client says this used to be possible.

Need to genereate Target file name same as Source File Name thru Local J2SE
Hi Everyone,
I want to genereate Target file name exactly same as Source File Name. I know how to handle this in Central Adapter Engine(Sender & Receiver Communication Channel).
But I need to do this in Local J2SE adpater engine.
Please help me in this regard.
Thanks & Regards,
NagarajuU can use the parameter to save the filename in the message header
file.messageAttributes=<name,directory>
This is similar "Adapter-Specific Message Attributes" concept.

Need Target File Name Timestamp is same as Source File name Timestamp
Hi ,
I want to genereate Target file name (Target_09062008082030.xml) but this time stamp is exactly Sorce FileTime stamp..(Source_09062008082030.xml)..
so, i want to create a target file with the same source file time stamp..
for this.. i sed Message Specific attributes... in both sender and receiver side.. but that was creating with the complete name.of source file name.. but i want only Timestamp of the source filename... and remaing is the constant.. for this how can i proceed ..
Thanks
JainSee in Sender CC when you set the Adapter Specific Message Attr for file name it will send the filename in the header of the XI Message.
To acces this file name inside mapping you need to create a UDF . The type can be any thing as you desire.
You dont need to pass any variable .if suppose you want the file name (constant) e.g ABC_<timestamp>.xml
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
String fileName= conf.get(key);
//see above your key is FileName which will be sent by the sender CC automatically... You are simply accessing it here using get() method.
//now ur filename will contain name of the source file... you need to perform a substring operation to get the timestamp and create a new file name as you desire.
fileName = "New_<timestmp>.xml"; //for e.g
//set this file name again in header message using put()
conf.put(key, fileName);
//when you check on the adapter specific message attr for fileName in the receiver CC ,it will automatically take this new file name value.
return fileName;
// if you want to use this new fileName inside your mapping payload (for other fields) you can assign this to any target field,else just assign it to the root tag which will make no difference if this file name is not used anywhere. -
Like it says in the question - when I try to print/save a webpage as a PDF, Firefox (version 36.0, Windows 8.1 64bit, German) usually uses the page's title as the file name. Slashes are, of course, not allowed in file names, but instead of just leaving leaving it out or replacing it with a hyphen, the title is cut off and everything before the last slash is gone, which in some cases results in very odd and misleading file names.
Is this a known bug? I couldn't find anything. So I'm just wondering if there's either going to be a fix anytime soon, or whether there is a simpler solution than to generate a different title sans slashes specifically for Firefox users.
Thanks in advance for Your help!There is more than one proxy type.<br />
Only an anonymous proxy will hide the IP and build two connections, one between you and the proxy and a second connection between the proxy and the website that uses an IP from that proxy.<br />
A normal proxy merely passes all traffic without affecting it, so websites see your IP in such a case.

Getting PO number as file name when getting output as pdf file
Hi Experts,
Is there any possibility to get PO number into file name (instead of spool number) when getting output as pdf file.
Since I'm printing POs in batches (as pdf) it is too difficult to find exact PO among all the pdf files.
If PO number maintained as file name, would be great time saver for me.
Thanks

Please check the below link..

Embedded mms-links change to open file-links when converting .doc to pdf
When converting word documents to pdf, all of my embedded video mms-links change to local open-file type links while my http-links keep their address. Why is this?
Since I've got about 600 of them I'm not too keen on changing them all back in Acrobat.
The links look like this in word:
mms://something.com/videos/file.wmv
But turns out like this after conversion:
Z:\catalog\mms:\something.com\videos\file.wmv
Notice the switch of slashes from / to \ after conversion.
Anyone got a clue?
Thanks!Hi!
My versions are:
Word 2007 and/or Word 2003 and Adobe 9.1.0.163
I think I solved it using this add-in:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=4d951911-3e7e-4ae6 -b059-a2e79ed87041
and saving the .doc-files as .docx-files in word 2007 before saving them as .pdf, using the add-in.
Thanks anyway! -
Getting the Source File name Info into Target Message
Hi all,
I want to get the Source file name Info into Target message of one of the fields.
i followed Michal BLOG /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
Requirement :
1) I am able to get the Target file name as same as the source file name when i check the ASMA in Sender & Receiver Adapter , with out any UDF...............this thing is OK
2) I took One field extra in the target structure Like "FileName" & I mapped it Like
Constant(" " )--UDF-----FileName
I Checked the Option ASMA in Both Sender & Receiver Adapters
Here iam getting the Target File name as same as Source file name + Source File name Info in the Target Field " FileName".
I Dont want to get the Target File name as same as Source file name. I want like Out.xml as Target file name.
If i de-select the Option ASMA in Adapters means it is showing " null" value in the target field "FileName".
Please Provide the Solution for this
Regards
BopannaHi All,
Iam able to do this by checking the Option ASMA in only sender adapter itself

Same file name when downloading new pics
The prev camera I had (Sony Cyber shot/Steady Shot?)always kept dynamic file numbers/names however now have Nikon D90 and now if do search on a file number now get numerous pics under same file name as new camera restarts at same number all the time.
Is there an easy way to deal with this. I would really not want to have to rename all files as soon as I download them. That can be over 300 pics at a time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!When I say file name I mean the name/number that appears under the pic in iphoto.
Yes that is the file name
Do most people leave these numbers or change them, do you know?
Most people leave it - some preprocess all photos and assign meaningful file names and then import
I know you can assign words to them and then retrieve them by calling up all pics associated with that word(s).
You can assign a title (which can optionally be used as the file name when you export photos), a description, keywords, and a rating
Do you have any other hints for me? Do you use the Mangler software you referred to in the prev post?
Normally I do not modify the file names - if I get photos from someone else I usually use name mangler to identify the source (which I could do with keywords but for photos that are not mine I prefer having the file name show the source) - once in a while I will change some but normally I just import directly from the camera and ignore the file name

Same source file name with a different extension
Hi All,
I have a source file which is dynamic all the time. Can I create a target file which has the same name as the source file but with a different extension.
Scenaio is file to file.
test. xml is the source file name and the target file name should be as test.csv
Regards,
AmarHi Amareshwar,
you can write a java code (either in UDF or import in imported archive and use in imterface mapping).
The piece of code is..
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) myParam.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey Filekey = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
String OriginalFileName = conf.get(Filekey);
if (OriginalFileName != null)
NewFileName=OriginalFileName.replaceAll(".csv",".txt");
conf.put(Filekey,NewFileName);
And in Integration Directory>Configuration Scenario>your communication channels (both sender and receiver) just select
Adapter specific message attributes- File name
This would solve your problem.....

Pdf portfolio source file name and date in file details
Is it possible to import the source file name and extension as well as the source file created date in the portfolio file details? Need to document source to portfolio in working with 3rd parties that will only have the original source. Need to document what was converted into pdf as not all files in a directory will successfully convert to pdf. Sometimes need to convert 100's of files. Manual entry is inefficient. the file names and modified dates are displayed on the Combine Files dialog. is there a way to capture the detail on that page?
I don't need the detail of when the pdf was added to the portfolio. I
need know which dwg or jpg or word file was converted and the original
created date of that file for control of information.
That is impossible; sorry. For some *very specific* types of conversion to PDF the pdfx:SourceModified XMP tag will be set to show the last-modification date of the source file (for example DOCX files converted using MS Word), but there will never be a human-readable record of the source filename or its creation date unless you have manually added them as document XMP properties after conversion (this is what the "Custom Properties" dialog is for). To embed source data automatically would raise no end of privacy and security problems for customers, who most certainly do NOT want their recipients seeing details of internal documents.
Without writing a plugin there's no access to the internal workflow of the Combine Files dialog, so you cannot use a script to read the names and dates of the files *before* conversion and store them automatically in the new PDF Portfolio's Fields array. -
How to set default PDF print locations to be same as source file
Is it possible to make the "Save to" location for files created using the Adobe PDF print driver to be the same location as the source file?
When I checked the prefs dialog box in the Adobe PDF print driver, the only setting I found was to make "PDF Output Folder" either the "My Documents" folder or "Prompt for PDF File Name." I wish there were a third option that said "Same as source file."
-DannyHi Daniel,<br /><br />Yes, it is possible to do so.<br /><br />Here is the solution:<br /><br />1) Open the PDF.<br />2) File->Print<br />3) Click the Properties button available on Print Dialog Box.<br />4) Select the Adobe PDF Settings Tab and you will find static text "Adobe PDF Output Folder", Go for "Browse" button available against that and select your preferred location.<br />5) Now the drop down menu will display all the options i.e. "My Documents" , "Prompt for PDF File Name" and "<Your selected Option>".<br /><br />I hope this will help resolve your issue.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Atul Agarwal<br />Adobe Systems

Add Counter to File name when using Tran Protocol as FTP
Hi There,
Was wondering if there was any way to achive the same "Add Counter" functionality used for File names in Reciever file adapter when we are using FTP as the transport protocol, this option is only provided in NFS,
My requirement is ..
Write files using counter on to ftp..
say if three files already exists on the ftp server with names ...fname001, fname002 and fname003
then the next time a file is written it should have a file name fname004 else fname001 if no file exists.
Any help would be greatly appreciatedNo such standard functionality is available in communication channel...
But you can try customizing ur scenario in one of the following ways...
Case 1: If a field in source data carries the information regarding the sequence.
You can map this value ( Directly .. or using some transformation ) in some temporary field in the target and then use a Variable substitution at the receiver communication channel.
Case 2. If the source file name carries the sequence information. then you can enable the Adapter specific settings in the Sender communication channel , and then get the information of the source file name using the Container object in the mapping. Then assign the sequence number to a field in the target , use a Variable substitution at the receiver communication channel.
Case 3 : If Case 1 and Case 2 are not applicable ... then you have to use a Ztable to store the sequence number , a function module to fetch the number , and then use a UDF in which you will implement the RFC call logic.Then the same process .... assign the sequence number to a field in the target , use a Variable substitution at the receiver communication channel.

Uploaded home movies revert to the original file name when added to iTunes?
I have Home Video files that I have renamed from the original file names. When I add these files to iTunes, the files revert to the original file name at the time the file was created. How can I add these files to iTunes with the new file name without having to rename every Home Movie that has been added?
OK I have done some more work and think i have the issue resolved. The problem lies with file formats specifically .mp4 and .m4v
I suspect the files you are importing are mp4 files. When I do this i get the same behaviour of file names changing their name after playback. When i convert my files to m4v format and import the issue disappears. -
Why does FCP looses its source file reference when files are copied
Why does FCP looses its source file reference when files are copied from another project??
i have this happen all the time, I move all my media to another drive and files that originated in another project do not reconnect because they have lost there source?
Any way to fix this mess? i am in the middle of reconnecting 400 files by hand one at a time!!!
Thanks, markBecause you changed the file path. From one hard drive to another...the hard drive name is no doubt different, and then if you have the files in different folder structures then yeah, it will lose the connection to that media.
Best thing to do is to clone your media drive, or name the other drive the same name, and keep the exact same file structure (folders in folders) as the original drive. Then you won't need to reconnect.

Any help would be appreciated. Do I need to create any UDF. If So please provide.
Regards,
VarunHi Varun,
are u using the same UDF that I replied. also note that the variable key should be declared only once.
Use this without changing any thing. It works for me...
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key);
key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","Directory");
String dir = conf.get(key);
return dir+'/'+ourSourceFileName;
Also let us know where do you het this error..
