Same environment - different prints

Hello,
I've got an issue with a print, a CAD drawing where different lines are missing. Funny thing: another installation (same hardware, same adobe version) does it properly. Settings seem to be the same.
It's not a general problem! Other documents work fine. Was hoping that an update (10.1.3 to 11.0.0) might help, but but it didn't.
When I use foxit instead of adobe reader it works!
Now I'm thinking to completely clean the settings to default. How can I do that? Is there an option (preferences) or do I have to delete certain files?

Michael

It shouldn't be a problem to share environment variables between environments.
But, you may run into variable-dependency problems very quickly like, for e.g.,
FORTE_ROOT, FORTE_NS_ADDRESS, FORTE_GC_SPECIAL which you may want to have
different values in each environment. Not to mention that it's even more
confusing when the same application is running in two different environments and
expecting different values in some application-specific variables on the same
machine.
You are better off by launching the environments with two different logins on
the same machine. This would reduce the interdepedencies.
Hope this helps.

Subject: (forte-users) Same Environment variables?
Hi,
I am creating two environments with two different versions of Forte on
same server, can we keep all the environment variables same except port
number. Will this create problems in future if we have to connect the
environments? As usual your help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Same specs different print results - hp 130 mac versus PC

ok, the hp tech support has been no help in this all year.
Using the most current drivers, updates, ect.
Using the same printing specs on preview or acrobat (mac) and acrobat (xp, or 2000 on fusion or parallels), I get totally different print quality results. The mac substantially inferior to the pc printing.
I'm really trying to wean myself from using the PC partitions at all, but printing is really bad using the mac side. ALL OTHER FACTORS ARE EQUAL. same paper, same quality specs, just different results. After trying to get HP support to verify, they said it was a leopard issue. I don't recall any issues using the Tiger OS from Macbook, but can't be sure.
Anyone else having print issues with HP from mac to PC?

Which kind of 'HP 130'? In any case, go to <http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs> and see if your printer is on the supported list. I've found that those drivers work much better than the ones which ship with the printer, _despite being developed by HP employees_. Why HP doesn't ship those drivers instead of the dreck they do ship is something you'd have to ask them.
These guys <http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3> also have drivers which are better than the ones that ship with HP's printers. Check them out and see if your printer is supported.

  • Two SAP systems, same smartform, different print outputs

We have two SAP systems, because of the different business areas that our company has.
We develop a smartform with a custom style which has Gill Sans MT as default font. The smartform is printed directly into PDF format.
On system A on all environments it works fine and we transported it to system B.
On system B the output on PDF format comes in bold, all the characters are bold. This happens on all environments. On preview we don't see bold font but the spacing between characters is larger than expected (for example, a date is printed in two lines of a cell).
I've checked the settings on SE73 and they are the same on both systems.
I've also created a second style were I've taken out all bold settings. On system A, the smartform' style was changed to this new one. The changes were transported to system B, and still it prints all bold.

Thanks for the replys. I think this is an answer to both.

  • Pdf printing not same in different printers

    Hi,
We have a pdf file which different departments would be printing on different printer but on a pre-perforated sheet. But while testing we noticed that the pdf is not being printed same in all the printers. Can we force this somehow? Thanks for your suggestions.
    Thanks.

Have you looked at the page scaling in the print dialog?

  • Priting same SAPscript form on different printer: different results

    Hi,
my client has different printer models and is claiming now that the forms appear different.
Do I have to create a SAPscript form for each printer type?
Is there a way to use the same form for all printer models?
Would we have the same problem using SMARTFORM?
Thanks for your help in advance!!!
    thomas

    Hi.
You should not have one SAPscript for each printer type. Thats not really a good idea. I would first of all try to do some tests with different device types on your output devices.
I don't think converting to SMARTFORM is the way to go if you don't feel like you have to. It is much easier to experiment with the device types.

  • Same as Source Printing from Acrobat 9

    Hello Everyone,
I'm in the process of testing CS4 for deployment to a large print production environment and I'm seeing some interesting behavior in so far as it's handling of color management is concerned, specifically with Same as Source printing from Acrobat.
I currently have CS2 deployed, and we're using InDesign for page composition. We primarily accept Adobe RGB (1998) and US Web Coated (SWOP) artwork. PDFs are created from InDesign via File > Export, and we have it configured for "No Color Conversion" and "Include all Profiles." As such, our PDFs contain both RGB and CMYK artwork, all of which is tagged with an ICC profile.
In Acrobat 7, we submit these files "Same as Source" to our RIPs (Fiery and Wasatch) in order to preserve the embedded profiles. All of our color management is handled at the RIP. This works quite nicely. We have tested the submissions and the RGB and CMYK builds (color numbers) come through dead on.
With Acrobat 9 Same as Source submissions, we are seeing that the builds are changing, and that we are getting a conversion to CMYK.
    -Original PDF file
    Raster RGB - 191,45,47
Here are the numbers that are submitted by Acrobat, captured by our RIP:
    -Acrobat 7 Same As Source
    Raster RGB - 191,45,47
    -Acrobat 7 Printer/Postscript Color Management
    Raster CMYK- 0,244,245,0
    -Acrobat 9 Same As Source
    Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
    -Acrobat 9 Printer/Postscript Color Management
    Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
    -Acrobat 9 Acrobat Color Management
    Raster CMYK - 17,248,245,1
So the question is: What changes have been made in Acrobat 9 to cause for it to handle Same as Source print submissions differently? Why is it that our builds are changing when Same as Source has always been how we get "pass through" color from Acrobat?
Has anyone else run into this? From the perspective of a RIP-driven, color managed workflow, this is a serious issue, no?
(This is also posted to the Color Management forum, as it is both a color management concern generally, and an issue specificly related to Acrobat.)
    Matt

We’ve done some further investigations into the differences in Same as Source printing from Acrobat 7 and Acrobat 9. For our tests we created a simple InDesign file with two red vector rectangles, one defined as Adobe RGB (1998) and one as U.S. Web Coated (SWOP). This file was then exported to PDF with “No Color Conversion” and “Include All Profiles.” The resulting PDF contained both rectangles tagged as specified, as verified with PitStop.
We then opened this PDF in both Acrobat 7 and 9 and printed to PS files (at the time, the queue for our HP5500PS was selected). Our cursory findings are:
    1. The file sizes differs, which suggests that there is a difference right off the bat.
    2. The printed artwork differs visually, which is troublesome.
    3. In both instances, when opened in Notepad2, the page objects appear to be tagged properly with Adobe RGB and SWOP specified as the objects color space. This, on the other hand, is good.
    a.       Acrobat 7
      i.      RGB – Line 3342
      ii.      CMYK – Line 3400
    b.       Acrobat 9
      i.      RGB – Line 8406
      ii.      CMYK – Line 8468
    4. And here's the biggie: When the PS file created from Acrobat 9 is opened in Illustrator, it says "The document does not have an embedded RGB profile" and it allows for the specification of an RGB profile ONLY. When the PS file created from Acrobat 7 is opened in Illustrator, it says "This document contains objects using both CMYK and RGB color modes. Illustrator allows only one color mode per document. Which color mode would you like to use?" Of course, this PS file SHOULD contain mixed color modes (because it came from a mixed color mode PDF), but only the PS files from Acrobat 7 do. The PS files from Acrobat 9 do NOT. This suggests to us that the PS files (and therefor print data submitted to PS queues as Same As Source) created by Acrobat 9 are not honoring the embedded ICC profiles of tagged artwork.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts or experience? If what we are finding is true, this is a major problem for Adobe's Acrobat 9 print engine.

    Matt,
I think I see why you need PS, maybe to get proper device orientation?
I downloaded your PS files and distilled. The Acrobat 7 is all mystery meat. The Acrobat 9 is calibrated.
It looks like 9 is preserving all the tags, and 7 isn't. So the tags may be your problem. One option is decalibrating everything in Acrobat 9 but it's an extra step.
Maybe Don't Include Profiles out of ID would solve your problem BUT
To me it looks like 9 is doing the right thing (preserving tags), and 7 isn't. Generally you want calibrated output. Maybe your RIP is performing an extra unwanted conversion of the tagged content that's in the PS output from Acrobat 9...

kindly suggest me some idea that how to do that

    Sandip,
I remember seeing this post from you before.  I would urge you to follow up on your posts and check the replies before posting them again.  This is mainly because if you keep posting the same questions again inspite of getting answers you might lose credibility in getting replies.  I am saying this in your best interest.
Please see my reply for your previous message
As per what I know you can setup a default Printer for a document (PLD). Also for your situation you should save the same PLD with two different names and default one to each user. Now you have two PLD's for two of your users.
Open the first PLD template and from the design mode of PLD.
    In the Top Menu
Print layout designer > Display document properties -- go to Paper format tab and select the Printer you want the document to print for this PLD user.
Do the same for the other user.
I am not sure how this will work in a distributed environment where you are using CITRIX. Please check with your Network associate.
    Thanks

  • "Try Selecting a Different Printer or File Type" Error - iPad2 - Officejet Pro 8600 - ePrint error

    Greetings...
I just got an Officejet Pro 8600 and I've been trying to get web pages to print using HP ePrint from my iPad 2 (iOS 7.0.6). I go into the ePrint app, go to web page of choice, and then click on my printer option to print. It renders on screen and then throws out the following error:
"Try Selecting a Different Printer or File Type" "Officejet Pro 8600 [5124FC] doesn't support this file type."
I can use ePrint from the iPad to print pictures from camera roll.
This only is problematic when I try to print web pages (I tried amazon.com for test).
I have no problems doing this from my iPhone...only the iPad.
I've tried rebooting device and trying again....same thing.
Anybody know how to fix this? I really want to be able to print web pages from my iPad.
    Thanks in advance...
    Possie

    Hello Possie,
Thank you for the update.  I have to say I'm surprised and disappointed that the uninstall and reinstall did not resolve the issue, especially since you can print the page from your iPhone.
I have spent some time researching this and working with my colleagues in HP's Cloud Services and we have a couple of suggestions/questions.
Do you get the same error when you try to print the web page using Apple's AirPrint feature?
Please ensure the iPad is connect to your home wireless network and try to print again.
Please try changing the settings in the ePrint app before printing the web page.  Please ensure that the paper quality is set to normal (see screen shot below) and that the paper size is set to letter (see 2nd screen shot below).
Please let us know how it goes.

    Hello Daniel,
The BO repository or CMS database has a different database structure between versions of the CMS database.  So if you have BO XIR2 versus XIR3, then they  have different database structures.  If the customers has a one version of XIR2 in TEST and it is a  different version like XIR3.1 in PRO environment then that would make sense. Each version of the XIR1, XIR2, XIR3 has a different database structures for the CMS database.   I hope this answers your question.

Hi and welcome to the RoboHelp forums. You may be better placed to ask this question on the Acrobat forums as I expect knowledge about printing PDFs would be limited here. However I suspect that you'll need to set-up different Print Options inside Acrobat to do what you want. This is not my area of expertise though.

  • Do we have different Print Programs for printing Cheques in Different Lang

    Hi Peers,
I have requirement of  Cheque printing in SPANISH Language.
We have been using Program RFFOUS_C (International Payment Medium - Check (with check management)) for printing Cheques in French & English.
This same print program does not work with the Spanish Script ZF110_ES_CHEQUE which is copy of French script.
I am wondering if we have to use a different Print Program (RFFOES_T) or is it the issue with the data & configuration.
    Could you please clarify.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Daniel

    Hi,
    Thanks for the suggestion!
The Print Program set in FBZP is RFFOUS_C  for the country Mexico.
The Print program works well in Client DCO100 but the same printprogram when used in DCO101 doesn't work for the Mexico script.
The Mexico script is also a copy from client DCO 100 . In the this Mexico script I have changed the currency & Defined language as 'S' at some places .
The payments are processed but no Spool requests are generated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Same Environment variables?

    Hi,
I am creating two environments with two different versions of Forte on
same server, can we keep all the environment variables same except port
number. Will this create problems in future if we have to connect the
environments? As usual your help is appreciated. Thanks.
    Sanjeev Arab

It shouldn't be a problem to share environment variables between environments.
But, you may run into variable-dependency problems very quickly like, for e.g.,
FORTE_ROOT, FORTE_NS_ADDRESS, FORTE_GC_SPECIAL which you may want to have
different values in each environment. Not to mention that it's even more
confusing when the same application is running in two different environments and
expecting different values in some application-specific variables on the same
    machine.
You are better off by launching the environments with two different logins on
the same machine. This would reduce the interdepedencies.
    Hope this helps.
