Same folder on two drives, both have different item amounts and sizes...

Here is a screenshot. Left is the PowerBook drive, right is the external drive.
http://img1.pic-host.net/img1/u/080107/d44c968e02.png
This shot was taken minutes after the folder finished copying. Why is the folder on the external drive larger in size and have more items? Both drives have the same format, Mac Journaled.

allocation size would be larger on a bigger capacity hard drive.

  • Can I Share music from iPhone to wife's iPod we both have different Apple ids, and if I do share music will all my photos be shared too?

Can I Share music from iPhone to wife's iPod we both have different Apple ids, and if I do share music will all my photos be shared too?

Depends on what the source of the music is (iTunes purchases, ripped CDs, etc.), and whether you are syncing to iTunes on a computer. As for simply sharing music directly from the iPhone to the iPod, no, you cannot.

  • I have 2 iPhones, from different carries and different numbers. Both with different apple ids and somehow I can still texts sent from both phones to other iPhones and I don't know how to fix it.

I had an iPhone from Verizon, and i got another iPhone from us cellular. I'm giving my old iPhone to my friend, and somehow we can both see each other's messages sent to other iPhones. Both have different apple ids and numbers. How do I fix this?

You probably activated the new phone will the old phone was still active. That would have linked the two numbers to iMessage. Go into iMessage and turn them off on each phone. Then turn iMessage on for your phone. When it activates, go into Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and see what numbers/email addresses are linked there. It should just be the current phone number and if desired, your Apple ID email address.
Then have the other person turn their iMessage back on and when it activates see if it now only brings their current phone number and again if desired Apple ID email address.

  • I want to buy my 2 children a iPad each, will they be able to share apps, music etc if they both have different accounts?

I want to buy my 2 children a iPad each, will they be able to share apps, music etc if they both have different accounts?

Only if you have one iTunes account on one computer and then they sync their iPad to that same computer. Make sure that each iPad is named different. And then each can share the same apps or not share as they wish.

I have 2 cell phones on my account. Both have different dates for the data usage to reset. Where do I find the correct date for this data usage to change?

rumfeltb, that's kind of odd. Are both lines on the same plan? You can view your billing cycle date online at My Verizon or at the My Verizon Mobile Application. Click http://vz.to/1nvKlnG to sign in as the Account Owner.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The iTunes and iCloud accounts are different accounts, check that you are not both using the same iCloud account at settings > iCloud.

Help! I have a new iPhone 5s. My husband just lost his 4s, so I want to give him my 4s. We want to use same Apple ID so we both have access to itunes/apps purchases. Want to separate contacts, messages, mail, etc. I cannot change iCloud address on 4s iPhone. Also, when I tried to change iMessage I got a message that if I deleted my id (which seemed to be the only way to get my husband's I'd there), I would not be able to receive iMessages on any device.
Would someone kindly tell me how to set up th 4s for my husband so that we can keep our info separate? It would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

    Hey Fagen!
You will want to see the following article for guidance on achieving the result you wish to achieve:
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
I would just follow the instructions from this article to give your unused 4s to your spouse. Since you have already started using your 5s, you will still be receiving iMessages on that phone and will have no need to receive them on a device that has been replaced. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

I'm relatively new to Mac and want to try and get the most out of the new MacBook Air.
My wife and I have been sharing the same Apple ID. We both have iPhones - she has a 5 and I've got a 4S.
We only have one copy of iTunes and we have been sharing the account. (She doesn't really use the computer for anything beyond writing the odd weekend assignment.)
Would I be better off setting her up with her own and making her as a separate user on the computer? Would this require much work?
In recent times with updates, we have a few problems with the duplication of texts and that sort of thing. Both of our texts are stored on the computer and that sort of thing. Also, sometimes texts I send her are sent through to me  from her, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I don't really want to overly complicate matters when it comes to accounts etc, but I wanted to know if a fresh Apple ID would be the best thing or even a new user?
Any tips etc would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I have this question too (0) Reply

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac"   maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well.   I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours,  I dont know.......

Each device only syncs waht you select.
Select only what you want for each phone.

  • How can I have the same environment on two macs on is a macbook pro and the other a Mac mini

How can I have the same environment on two macs on is a macbook pro and the other a Mac mini ?

Forget trying to use iCloud for this - it won't do what you want.  iCloud syncs certain data like contacts and events, but it doesn't sync "environments" on computers.

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

I have an iPad 2 and so does my mom.  We both have the app Slotomania and now all of sudden after having it for months, our games connected and we don't know how to fix it.  Deleting it and reinstalling does not work.

Does the app now use iCloud, do you use iCloud and do the two of you use the same account on iCloud?
    Just a guess.

  • My wife and I are thinking about getting match but we have different itunes accounts and we are worried about losing our individual apps

my wife andI are thinking about getting match so that all of our music is in one place. However, we are currently have different itunes accounts and we are worried about losing the different apps that we have accumulated over time, also she has more storage than I do and we are a little worried about that.  Does anybody have any ideas.

You won't lose any apps but one of you will lose the ability to update apps on the device.
For you to share iTunes Match all devices must be signed into the same iTunes Store Apple ID that was used to purchase the service. This means any Apps that were purchased with the other Apple ID cannot be updated on the device as a device can only be associated with one Apple ID every 90 days.
I know it's not what you want to hear, but my suggestion is to simply stay with the system you have. It will cause you less headaches.

  • Windows can not manage to have different DPI 1080p and 4K monitor

Windows can not manage to have different DPI 1080p and 4K screen. However, it is impossible not to have a magnification of 1080p but 25-35% on Dell 4K (P2715Q) intimidate. Windows 8.1 increases on both screens. I have clicked out that it will not change
on both screens, and only on 4K Dell P2715Q.
I have Nvidia GTX 680 and latest drivers 347.88! Windows is 8.1 Pro with Mediacenter.

    Hi,
Agree with you, quote from “Windows 8.1 DPI Scaling Enhancements” Windows blog.
“here have been some questions about when per-display DPI scaling is used (different DPI scaling values per display) and I wanted to add a note here to clarify. On Windows 8.1 when you have the “Let me choose one scaling level for all
my displays” check box checked (not checked by default) one uniform DPI scaling value is used for all displays.”
