Same Host Machine

Hi All,
I have a doubt regarding integration of APEX with BI Publisher.
Is the APEX and BI Publisher has to be installed in a same machine(i.e Same host) for integration, or it can be in a different host machine.
Since my APEX is in one machine and BI publisher is in other machine.
If it is in different machine it is possible to integrate between these two.
Otherwise, it is strictly recommended the inorder to integrate BI publisher with APEX means, then the both has to be in a same machine.
Regards,
Mini

Hi jari,
Thanks for the reply, you mean that BI publisher has to be installed where the database is installed,
Since i have APEX with a database in one machine, and i have BI publisher not in the APEX database it is entirely in the another machine.
<li> I have APEX with DB in linux and BIP in windows server 2003.
<li> I have also made changes under the instance settings like specifying the printer server address etc.
Now what is the error it is returning means jari
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.Regards,

You do not change the dbname of the physical standby database. They always must have the same name as the primary.

  • Computer Authentication /host/machine name using EAP on AP Problem

    Hi All,
I have a wireless access point model 1242 with ACS server. Acs server is intigrated with windows domain. The user authentication is working ok but i would like to have a computer authentication setup. I am using PEAP with MS chapv2 on client machine and on access point using open authentication with EAP. ACS has its on certificate and client has the root certificate. I can see the acs server pulls the /host/machine name from AD but i am getting (EAP-TLS or PEAP authentication failed during SSL handshake) message on ACS server for computer authentication. What could be the problem? user authentication is working OK....
Does computer authentication require the EAP-TLS? I don't have client certificate in my setup.
I would be gratefull for any suggestion / help.

You did not mention whether your clients are running Windows or Mac OS (or some mixture of OS's)?  If you are running in a pure Windows environment, it is very easy to enable PEAP machine authentication.  It sounds like you have properly enabled machine authentication on the client side (since you are seeing host/machine auth attempts in the ACS log), but have you enabled machine authentication on the ACS server?
Which version of ACS are you running (hopefully 4.2).
    Read up on this:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/UsrDb.html#wp354014
ACS supports EAP-TLS, PEAP (EAP-MS-CHAPv2), and  PEAP (EAP-TLS) for machine authentication. You can enable each  separately on the Windows User Database Configuration page, which allows  a mix of computers that authenticate with EAP-TLS or PEAP  (EAP-MS-CHAPv2). Microsoft operating systems that perform machine  authentication might limit the user authentication protocol to the same  protocol that is used for machine authentication. For more information  about Microsoft operating systems and machine authentication, see Microsoft  Windows and Machine Authentication.
    Windows User Database Support
ACS supports the use of Windows external user databases for:
•User Authentication—For  information about the types of authentication that ACS supports with  Windows Security Accounts Manager (SAM) database or a Windows Active  Directory database, see Authentication  Protocol-Database Compatibility, page 1-8.
•Machine Authentication—ACS  supports machine authentication with EAP-TLS and PEAP (EAP-MS-CHAPv2).  For more information, see EAP  and Windows Authentication.
•Group Mapping for  Unknown Users— ACS supports group mapping for unknown users by  requesting group membership information from Windows user databases. For  more information about group mapping for users authenticated with a  Windows user database, see Group Mapping by Group  Set Membership, page 16-3.
•Password-Aging—  ACS supports password aging for users who are authenticated by a Windows  user database. For more information, see User-Changeable  Passwords with Windows User Databases.
•Dial-in Permissions—ACS  supports use of dial-in permissions from Windows user databases. For  more information, see Preparing  Users for Authenticating with Windows.

  • Oracle E-Business Suite access from the Host machine

    Hellow,
Please, after installing E-Business Suite and going through Post-configuration details, I would like to get access of my applications portal from the host system.
I have tried several ways of doing that and would not know the steps to follow in order to access the portal directly from the physical host machine.
I took the normal steps as when configuring end users and can ping the virtual machine from the Host system but can't do the same form the virtual machine of the host machine.
I can ping another server and other machines int he same network but not the one on which the virtual machine is installed.

    Hi,
I am confused first clear what is hostmachine and what is virtual machine.....
call the machine which will access the application on virtual machine as CLIENT
call the machine which is hosting the virtual machine a VIRTUAL MACHINE HOST
call virtual machine as VIRTUAL MACHINE
You mean I should change my host IP? It has so many applications using that localhost name.Is ther any setting done in the network and have you ever accessed an application installed on Virtual machine from the host machine?>
changing of ip doesnt have any impact if ur applications are using hostname..if they are using ip then there is a issue,Yes i have acces EBIZ installed on virtula machine many times.
And if ur working in a organization then ask ur network admins to check whats the issue..may be some were firewall issue also ..thats why i asked u to chnage ip.

  • 802.1x authentucation only on Virtaul machine. i want to by pass EAP authentication on Host machine

i want to do EAP authentication (802.1x) authentication by the client installed on Virtual machine. i want to by pass EAP authentication(802.1x) on Host machine, because i wanted to test it on the client in VM not on the host machine. for wifi it works fine because i can have a USB wifi NIC which connects to VM directly and the authentication goes fine as host machine NIC does not come into the picture at all.
but in Case of wired VM NIC has to go via Host NIC.

    Hello,
I managed to do that with a VM and a host, both authenticating in wired, behind a phone. The host would receive an ACL limiting its traffic to just internet and the VM could access the internal network. (do not ask to discuss the use case).
    The considerations were that :
both host and VM would need to be on the same dynamically assigned VLAN, as 2960/3750 do not support two DATA domain hosts in different vlans (3850 apparently supports or will support it), so I had to have 802.1X both on host and in VM.
the VSwitch in VMworkstation had to be in bridge mode.
authentication mode multiauth had to be enabled in the interface in order to cope with multiple authenticated sessions behind the same interface.
    What is exactly your question?

  • How to transfer files from virtual machine to host machine

    Hello,
I want to know how to copy files from virtual machine o host machine while the virtual machine running. I can't share files from virtual machine because i am just studying for mcsa in company computer. I can't connect my virtual machine to same network so
i'm using a different ip range and i created a internal network switch for my virtual machines in hyper-v. Please give me a best solution for my studies.
    Regards,
    Ashane Deshapriya.
    Ashane Deshapriya ( MCP )

    Finally I got the solution...
Here is how you can share files between a Hyper-V host and any virtual machines running on that host.
If you've used Microsoft Virtual PC or Microsoft Virtual Server, you'll have enjoyed the fact that you can copy and paste between a virtual machine and those platforms. This doesn’t work with Hyper-V however—you can't copy/paste between a VM and the Hyper-V
    host.
The workaround is to do the following:
    1. On your Hyper-V host, create a shared folder and assign Change permission to Everyone.
    2. On the virtual machine running on the host, open the Network and Sharing Center and enable File and Printer Sharing.
    3. On the virtual machine, click Start and type \\host_name\share_name where host_name is the name of your Hyper-V host and share_name is the name of the share you created.
    4. Press ENTER and an Explorer window will open in the VM showing the contents of the shared folder on the host.
    5. You can now copy files from the VM to the host and vice versa as needed.
    Regards.

  • Refreshing package database crashes host machine

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem that I can't figure out here.
I have Arch installed on my desktop computer. This is using kde networkmanagement to automatically 'share' the Internet connection on wlan0 to eth0. The ethernet connection is to my laptop, and this is running Arch from a live CD.
I run dhcpcd from the laptop and can connect to the Internet just fine. When I run the installation framework, I can get as far as selecting packages, then when the package database is refreshed, my desktop computer completely freezes, and the database refresh subsequently times out. The same happens when i type '# pacman -Syy', independently of AIF.
I managed to refresh the package database once and carry on with my installation, then my laptop's battery ran out during the download of packages. Could this be something to do with it?
It's not possible to plug the laptop directly into the router as it is in an inaccessible location, unfortunately. All the same, I would like to delve deeper into this problem and see whether I have unearthed a bug, or my setup is at fault. Has anybody any suggestions or a workaround?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    EDIT:
OK this was a bit of a vague diagnosis from me. Using wget on the laptop results in the same crash, which rules out pacman or any software that's running on the laptop. I've also found out that using wget on http doesn't crash it, whereas ftp does. I will try using a http mirror to install Arch, then report back.

    Hi,
PLS-00201 : identifier 'v$INSTANCE' must be declared. Please note that, this package having a procedure that is loading a text files rows to table. Its using UTL_FILE package.
And directories are used to load the data. I created the directories in the TEST database and create the physical directory in the TEST database host machine. 1. when issuue was raised from pl/sql - have you check the code ?
    2. Have you tested code independently - instead of executing from job. ?
    3. Forget about production system for a while, try to check the pre-requisites required for the things to run. ?
    4. what is the pacakge code dependent on v$instance error - have you checked across ?
    5. Have you tried to debug the code or not ?

  • 9i and 10g on same host

    Hi folks,
i am just trying to run 9i and 10g on same host (sun solaris 5.9)
I created 2 different oracle users on os level for installation and management of those 2 instances.
There is no problem with it, but i am just curious. would it be better to run them both with the same account?
or is it better to have 2 separete accounts for each of them?
just want to hear expert's opinion about this, Thanks in advance.

or is it better to have 2 separete accounts for each of them?It depends on Your needs. Both ways are ok. Easier is to manage if both oracle homes are under the same account, because then it's easier to upgrade database, maybe in future You will want just one oracle home and so on.
But if for example You are running on the same machine test and dev envs, then it's somewhat normal to separete and then there is no dependency between envs and You can for example upgrade dev without touching test (that can be achieved with simple 2 different oracle_homes, but with two different users as well).

  • Unable to access SP App from host machine. Page not found

I have created a virtual machine and configured SharePoint environment for the trail period on my windows 7 machine. I am able to do the Remote desktop connection from my host machine and access my SharePoint sites from the host machine browsers.
But when I try to access the apps created for SharePoint, it shows the page cannot be found. I am able to access the same App for the same user in the SharePoint server but not its host machine.
I have added this App domain to the intranet zone of host machine and to the server.
Could you pls suggest me what I am missing?
    Thanks Sandy (MCTS, MCP)

    Hi Sandy,
You can check if this issue is related to your virtual machine application network settings.
Please try to ping your SharePoint server from Windows 7 client see if it could be successful.
Please try to access your SharePoint site via IP address from Windows 7 IE browser, see if it works, may add SharePoint server ip map in your hosts file  on windows 7 machine.
also check if it is related to SharePoint AAM configuration.

  • Performance - Oracle 11.2 on same host with Virtual OS

    Hi there,
a colleague of mine raised some doubts on installing Oracle database 11.2 on the same host server where multiple Virtual Box guest instances are running.
He pointed that threads allocation and consequently performance could be unbalanced.
Database server is not for production but it must supply its services for about 20 enterprise applications, so I do not expect to serve thousands of requests but definitely complex queries.
Considering these points, does it make sense what he's said?
Where can I find more information about Oracle DB 11.2 threads allocation?
    thanks in advance
The host server is a DELL with two sockets Intel® Xeon® E5520, 2.26Ghz, 8M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, Turbo, HT, 1066MHz Max Memory
    RAM
    RAM 24GB Memory for 2 CPUs, DDR3, 1333MHz

OS RedHat 5.3If I understand what you are saying, then as far as the OS is concerned, the oracle rdbms is just another application alongside a virtual machine (or several virtual machines) process. I can't see where there should be any inherent conflict between them, except of course all processes running on any computer are competing for finite hardware resources. Typically you'd want the database server to be dedicated to running the database.

  • How can I remotely connect to VM outside of Internal Network without connecting to Host Machine?

I am running Windows 7 in a VM: The VM was setup using Hyper-V within Windows Server 2012 R2. First, I configured the
Linksys router Port Forwarding for TCP 3389 and 3390. To both IP addresses. I also created Firewall Inbound Rules for Port 3389 and 3390.
To connect within Network, I simply enter the VM IP address or Computer Name, username and password and the connection is successful. I am also able to connect to the Host Machine out of my local Network by using the
    Public IP address.
    The Problem:
When I attempt to access the VM, lets say at a Caribou or the Library, or any other outside Network, I am landing into the Host Machine instead of the VM.
    For example:
To log into the VM outside, I used the same Public IP address, the username and password to the VM but I am landing in the Host machine with an error message that the user is invalid.
I have also tried the following: Computer Name:3389 but not successful.
How do I access the VM so that the connection is not going to the Host?

What I have done in the past for this is to configure different ports on the router.  Generally your router will have a single public IP address. Let's just call it 1.1.1.1. Then in my router I configure ports to be forwarded.  Let's assume your
Hyper-V host is 192.168.2.100 and your VM is 192.168.2.101.  On the router I configure some port, for example 43100 to be forwarded to 192.168.2.100:3389 for the host.  For the VM, port 43101 is forwarded to 192.168.2.101:3389.
Then when I access from the public internet, I connect to 1.1.1.1:43100 for the host or 1.1.1.1:43101 for the VM.

  • Can smb and afp coexist on the same host?

    Greetings all!
I've been using Macs and OSX for a year. And recently I bought another MBP so I am seriously considering Time Machine backups. I have a Linux home server running Ubuntu 12.04 and Samba and my previous MBP running Mountain Lion connects to it happily without any problem. But my trouble started when I tried to setup afp on the same box.
I followed this post and this post and got the fake time capsule showing in Time Machine without any problem. But soon I found myself unable to connect to the old samba shares. The smb host now displays as a Time Capsule. If I click on that OSX will say 'failed to connect'.
As I understand there are 2 pieces involved on the server side, avahi to broadcast the service info and netatalk to provide the service itself. It's a bit like nmbd and smbd in Samba. If this is true then it's somewhat understandable that OSX can not display the same host as 2 different types of services at the same time. So I stopped avahi-daemon and very soon the old Samba shares appeared again.
I am able to connect to both services using command+k but I would rather have them running normally so that my wife will be able to use them without extra tech support. Can anyone tell me if what I said above is true and/or if there is a graceful way around this? If answer is no then I will have to create a virtual machine or nic alias just for time machine and I think it's quite a waste.
    Thanks!

    tristonej wrote:
I don't quite understand why people buying non-Apple devices should not expect OSX to work with them
Because Apple has no control over 3rd parties. They can do what they want. If Apple publishes a new authentication mechanism in 2002, the 3rd party doesn't have to implement it. That isn't Apple's fault. If they do get around to supporting it in 2009 and then some 4th party doesn't bother to use the 2009 code in 2011, Apple still can't do anything about that. If anyone else wants to advertise, and support, Time Machine compatibility, they are welcome to do that. They definitely have the advertising part down, the support, not so much.
There is a time when apple only worked with apple but that aparently was not sustainable. And that's why now Apple is embracing smb
Apple's goal is to choose the best solution for its customers. Sometimes that is a proprietary connection or protocol and sometimes it is something industry standard. In all cases, there has to be some cut off for testing and support. That is why Apple eventually stops supporting its own hardware and technologies at a certain point. That is also why Apple will support SMB as deployed by Microsoft but isn't going to waste much time on home-built Linux servers.
(it's said even samba was used shortly on OSX, not quite sure) and allow users to install windows on macs. Even OSX itselt is based on FreeBSD and uses quite a lot of open source components.
Apple uses a lot of open source software. Samba was one of those projects. Unfortunately, the people that made those products didn't want Apple using them so they changed the licensing to prohibit Apple (and pretty much only Apple) from using their source code. That is why some of the open source packages in OS X are stuck in a 2007 version. That is also why Apple abandonned Samba and wrote its own SMB implementation.
OS X is not based on FreeBSD. It has a BSD-flavoured POSIX layer, but it is a distinct operating system at its core.
IMHO there is no magic in throwing money at propiretary hardware/software or praying to Steve Jobs. If something is not working, it must be that there is a bug in the code or the design. And neither OSX nor Macs are built by God, which means they are bugged as other software/hardware.
I'm confused. When did anyone say anything about praying to Steve Jobs or divine technology? You asked about using Linux as a Time Machine server. I suggested you avoid that if you value your data. I also asked why you would want to keep running Linux now that you have a Mac. A Mac can do anything Linux can do with a fraction of the effort.
The answer is simple, Macs can not do what I want.
    Which is?
Withe a standard mATX case I can have quite a few 3.5" drive bays while there is only one 2.5" in a Mac mini. And with Ubuntu/Debian, getting/updating the software or the system is quite easy, just one or a few lines of apt commands, not quite possible with OSX.
That's certainly true. OS X updates itself without having to run any apt commands.
If you must compile something from the source to get a Linux running then something must be seriously wrong.
My thoughts exactly. But perhaps you didn't follow me entirely. Apt, yum, etc don't have everything one needs to setup something as fancy as, I don't know, a web server. While I did have to compile a number of things from source, I had to actually edit the source a couple of times as well.
The best thing I love about Linux is openess. You can customize almost everything and change it whatever way you want. With Mac, for example the 2013 Retina MBP I just bought, it's not even possible to change the power button behavior, which is very annoying.
Then why did you buy a Mac? That's no big secret. Some people like not have to configure everything just to get it running. I have other things to do than edit config files.
Back to my original question. I think the problem is not quite with compatibility of Bonjor but rather whether OSX can show this or not. Imagine you have a smb share and afp share on the same host, with the same name, how would OSX display it? And which icon will OSX use to display the host? I can not think of the answer so if you know please tell me.
OS X will just display it like it display any server. One of your links event has instructions on how to pick the icon you want to fake. If you are running both services then I am not sure which one it would try to connect with. Neither of your services are native, not matter how much they try to fake it. If you wanted a specific service you would have to manually use the correct protocol in Finder > Go > Connect to Server. However, bot of those links were posted before Mavericks. Obviously they don't work anymore. It's Linux. It's open. Right? So fix it and post it on your own blog. I do not know what modifications you would have to make to either Samba or Netatalk to make them work with Mavericks.
If all you need is to allow your wife to connect to one specific protocol, then manually connect to that service, saving your password in the keychain, and create an alias by Command-option dragging the server to some other folder. Then, she can just double-click on the alias to connect to the network.
Now, if you really want to be clever, you can setup an automount to that service instead. Then the server will be mounted and unmounted as needed.

  • Can I use both newly cloned MBPR retina and old-MBP with same Time Machine

When my new-MBPR retina cloned from the old-MBP back up in Time Machine via migration assistance, will this newly-cloned MBPR continue thereon backing up with the same old-MBP back up in Time Machine? I.e. continuing same timeline?
And what happen to my old-MBP back up, if I continuing to use my old-MBP with the same Time Machine on? Will TM recognised 2 different MBP and thus creating 2 back ups? I seem to have problem to keep 2 MBP running with same TM. Programs not responding even force quitting them!
And what should I do to use both? Appreciate your help. Thank you.

OK, but in general I can use this one device as both file storage and Time Machine.
I thought that (for some reason) once I set up the Time Capsule to act just as Time Machine storage I would be unable to access it as a plain file storage.
I have just tested it now, and it seems it can work as both - file storage and Time Machine. I can see the Time Machine backup file on it and folders where I can dump regular files.
The only thing I would need to occasionally do is delete some old backups to keep Time Machine segment below 1 TB just so I have plenty of space for regular files.
    This thing is awesome. :)

    Experts:
We have a dual stack (ABAP+JAVA) NW04s on the same host.
The usage type EP7 is enabled.
From this EP7 we want to access its own ITS thru SSO.
We configured the SSO just like we did for the EP7 + ECC on 2 different hosts.
However, we are always asked for an ID/password when trying to test the SSO from the EP7.
    The error is:
"SSO logon not possible; browser logon ticket cannot be accepted"
    Please advise. Points guaranteed. Thanks!

    hi,
I also tried to do the same, but i think it's not possible.
I read somewhere that SAP recommends to use different instances of ABAP and Java. I installed seperate ABAP and Java instances on the same host and then configured SSO using the Configuration Wizard in NWA configuration. and it works perfectly.

If there are multiple Oracle Databases installed on the same server, they
must access their own individual TDE wallet. Sharing the same wallet between independent instances is not supported
and can potentially lead to the loss of encrypted data.
If the databases share the same ORACLE_HOME, they also share the same
sqlnet.ora file in $TNS_ADMIN . In order to access their individual wallet, the
    DIRECTORY entry for the ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION
needs to point each database to its own wallet location:
    DIRECTORY= /etc/ORACLE/WALLETS/$ORACLE_UNQNAME
The names of the subdirectories under /etc/ORACLE/WALLETS/ reflect
the ORACLE_UNQNAME names of the individual databases.
If the databases do not share the same ORACLE_HOME, they will also have their individual sqlnet.ora
files that have to point to the individual subdirectories.
What is the correct sqlnet.ora syntax to do this?  I currently have what is below but it doesn't seem to be correct:
    ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION =
      (SOURCE = (METHOD = FILE)
      (METHOD_DATA =
      (DIRECTORY = /local/oracle/admin/wallet/DB#1)
      (DIRECTORY = /local/oracle/admin/wallet/DB#2)

    Hi,
You can check this :Setting ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION For Wallets Of Multiple Instances Sharing The Same Oracle Home (Doc ID 1504783.1)
i haven't done this for multiple database, but as per Doc you can use the syntex like
    ENCRYPTION_WALLET_LOCATION =
      (SOURCE = (METHOD = FILE)
      (METHOD_DATA =
      (DIRECTORY = /local/oracle/admin/wallet/$ORACLE_UNQNAME)
Whenever you set the Environmnet with
    export $ORACLE_UNQNAME=DB#1
it will choose the file from respective directory like  /local/oracle/admin/wallet/DB#1
    HTH
