Same image, different sizes

I need to export the same image in different formats, for iPhone, iPad, Web etc.
Actually, I import into one frame and then  - Copy/Paste into/Fill Frame Proportionally - on the other frames.
Is there a simple way to do this in one shot? I can write a script to do this, but I was wondering if there was some sort of Command I was missing…
Thank you

Are yout talking about Alternative Layouts with the same content?
Use the Content Collector and Placer tools and use the same image or content several times. If you work with object styles (as you should ALWAYS do) you can specify a auto fitting property in that style.
With Liquid Layout you can specify the behavior of any frame how it resizes if the page gets or has different sizes.

  • Why is same file different sizes after saving for web?

    I have files that I save in PSCS3, under, "Save for Web & Devices" and I indicate under "optimize to file size" that they should be no larger than 60K. After item is saved and I go to "Get info", it says the file is 60K. Yet when I open the file in PS and go to Image Size, it says 467K. Why the discrepancy? Thanks for your feedback!

    One is the compressed file size on disk (60K). The other is the uncompressed image size (369 pixels x 432 pixels x 8 bits per channel x 3 channels / 8 bits per byte  / 1024, since K really is 1024, not 1000).

  • Same image - different appearance between modules

    I am struggling with migration of my LR2 catalogue etc to a new PC with Windows 7, using the same Eizo monitor. Setting aside annoying discrepancies between original and migrated development histories, I was examining a recent snow landscape scene whose white balance was not as I had adjusted it in 'old' computer. Development history appears to have gone yet the corrections appear to take effect when viewed in the Develop module. Good! But when I then switch to Library mode, the white balance changes slightly. What is going on?
    Can an image with embedded metadata transfer to new computer with the effects of past development work without revealing it in the new history? Certainly it seems so. But why should there be a visible difference when viewed in two modules? More important, where lies the truth?

    With Lr 2 the "truth" lies in the Develop module when image is zoomed so that image is being viewed at 100%. However, it's generally the case that Fit view and 1:1 view will match. The exceptions being when there is a high level of sharpening or colour noise correction.

    Try zooming to 1:1 in Library module. This forces the preview to refresh.

    Saving each image as different size - is it an option for you?  I would save images with their name as: 20x30.png, 16x20.png etc etc.
    Or explain whether you want these in a webpage  in which case only one image is necessary and different sizes are displayed with good CSS code.  this is question for Dreamweaver forum if this is what you want.

    I am trying to place 2 different size images into acrobat to create a pdf but one image is half the size. How do i make each page the same size when the images are different sizes?

  • How can two pictures of the same size still appear to be a different size? (Photoshop CS6 problem)

    I called the big webdesign file "(X)" and the image I wanted to paste in it "(Y)",
    so that you won't be confused when you read it.
    What Happened
    For the design of a webpage, I made a photoshop-file(X) with a lot of squares(X). These squares(X) had the size 9,42×9,42 centimeters.
    I measured the squares(X) carefully and also made sure the size was in centimeters, so I am sure that the size was 9,42×9,42 cm.
    My plan was to fill the squares(X) with pictures(Y). I had a map on my computer with a lot of square-sized JPG-images(Y) in it. All I had
    to do was open the pictures(Y) in photoshop, change the size into 9,42×9,42 centimeters and copy+paste them into the squares(X)
    of the webdesign. I did this before and it worked perfectly.
    But then, I opened one of the images(Y) and when I wanted to resize it, the resize-tool said it was only 3,25×3,25 centimeters big.
    I thought it was strange, so I copied+pasted it into the design-file(X) with all the squares(X) that needed to be filled. Allthough photoshop
    had told me that the squares(X) in the file were 9,42×9,42 centimeters big and the image(Y) I resized was 3,25×3,25, the "small" image(Y)
    turned out to be bigger then the squares(X). And when I resized the "small" image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 centimeters, it was even bigger
    than it was before. How can this be, and how can I still make the images(X&Y) the same size?
    What I already tried
    - I made the file of the webdesign(X) with all the squares(X) into one layer, copied the file(X) and opened a new file(X) with the same
    measurements of the old file(X). I also changed the resolution of the file(X) into pixels/centimeters instead of pixels/inches.
    Then I pasted the image(X) of the old file into the new file. I didn't work; the image(X) that I pasted in the new file was bigger and
    when I pasted the other picture(Y) in this image, the same problem was still there.
    - I also opened the picture(Y) in photoshop, made a screenshot of it and then pasted the screenshot into paint. With paint I cropped
    it again and saved it as a JPEG-file. After that, I opened the image (Y) in photoshop again. It now had the size of 11,27×11,27 centimeters.
    Then I resized the image(Y) into 9,42×9,42 cm, but it still wasn't as big as the squares(X).
    Could you help me please?
    I really don't understand why this problem is happening and I can't think of a solution because I am still quite unexperienced with photoshop
    and I also couldn't find the answer on the internet. I assume the solution is very simple, but I haven't found it yet allthough I have to finish this
    project soon and I also have to use the image(Y). So any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Simone

    You need to understand the basic of a digital image.
    Image is recorded as pixels and image is a rectangle so many pixels wide and so many pixel high.   Pixels do not have a fixed size. The images resolution setting defines the image current pixel size.
    So for example if you have and image that is 300 pixel wide and 200 pixels high and set its dip resolution to 100DPI the image size is 3" wide and 2" high.  Set its dip setting tp 300DPI the image size becomes 1" wide by 2/3" high.  Both the 3" x 2" and the 1"x2/3" images have the same 60000 RGB Colored Pixels.
    Web pages are sized to to be so many pixel wide and so many pixel high.  Often the height is not enforced scrolling is used when viewing.
    However image for web pages often must not exceed so many pixel wide and high for displays have a fixed resolution and a fixed number of Pixels. You want images to fit on users displays.  Users use different displays some have high resolution displays and other have low resolution displays with far fewer pixels then high resolution displays.
    Web Image are normally image that have been interpolated down in number of pixels a resampled large image so that web image will fit on a low resolution  display with limited number of pixels. The image size the user see depend on the display they are currently using. A low resolution display's image will be much larger then the same image displayed on a nexus 10 with a 300dip display. Cheep low cost Desktop LCD have a 84DIP resolution, large high cost desktop displays are not be much higher in resolution somewhere near 108DPI.   Tablets, Laptop and Phones can have much higher resolution like the nexus 10 300DPI IPS display

  • How to manage multiple sizes of the same image?

    I recently took up LightRoom for all the good things it does. One of the things I need to do, however, is to create and manage multiple sizes of the same image needed for different purposes. I always found this cumbersome. I totally expected that the LR library would offer a solution for this but I looked and I didn't see anything. Sure you can export and resize in the process but then you're on your own. Am I missing something? Isn't there a better way? What does Adobe have in mind for best practices and how do you handle this?

    I can't speak for 99jon, but when I need multiple sizes, I export at the desired sizes, and then make use of the exported photos (upload, e-mail, whatever) and then delete the exports. Thus, there's really no need for me to keep track of the photo at this specific size, knowing that if I ever need it again -- unlikely -- I can regenerate it with the export pre-set, so I put no effort (zero!) into keeping track of photos at different sizes.
    The idea of adding it back into the catalog doesn't get me excited, and I would advise against it. I don't need this, and I don't see the benefit of keeping this particular size export for the long-term. As I said, I can always recreate it — but maybe you have such a need to keep these exports long-term and recreating it at a later point in time doesn't meet your needs? Can you explain?
    By the way, you can't resize a virtual copy, so that won't work here. The only time you can resize is on export.

  • LR won't synch same images in different folder

    I need to keep multiple copies of the same images in different folders (to track submissions to different agencies) but LR seems very erratic at synching pictures it thinks already exist in the catalogue - some of the duplicates show up, others not, but it seems impossible to get all folders to synch properly. Is there any way around this?

    Yes, I remember, David. Glad it's still working.
    Assuming the current workflow, I reckon the answer is going to lie in establishing which files are omitted. If filenames don't match any files already in the catalogue, I'd expect all to arrive safely. But if a jpg's name matches an existing file (ignoring the extensions) then there might be a clash. One area is Edit > Preferences > Import where you may want to try ticking Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate. But see if you can establish the pattern of what gets imported and what's not.
    A pure Lightroom solution would be not to keep all these files. So you would have the master image (a raw or a worked tif), and then create virtual copies for each of the uses that you want to track - right click a thumbnail and Create Virtual Copy. Each VC has a copy name, which I'd suggest setting (Metadata panel) to the usage, Getty, Alamy etc. When you need to send it to the agency, get the VC and export at the size and format required, send the exported file, but don't keep a real file copy - the VC could suffice. I put this more for you to think over.

  • Disjointed rollover with different size images?

    Every tutorial says the disjointed rollover images MUST be the same size, etc.  But for the type of photos I'm working with, it's impossible to make them the same height.  This site is exactly what I'm going for with the different sized images being used:  http://www.warmbloods-for-sale.com/HorseDetail.asp?HorseID=21333&UserID=1775.  Any idea how they accomplish this?  Or any ideas on how I can manage the same effect with different sizes in Dreamweaver CS4?

    Do a Google search for Lightbox, litebox, floatbox or look at Project Seven's Image Gallery Magic.

  • Centering different size images in movieclip

    Hi,
    I'm trying to center different size images in a movieclip
    named "picture". The images load fine but they are not centered.
    Flash's registration is very limited when it comes to setting this.
    All the images are different sizes. I may get one to load correctly
    but when another image loads of a different size the images is no
    longer centered. I need all images to load in the center of the
    clip no matter what the images size is. Here is the code that I'm
    using:
    stop();
    function loadXML(loaded) {
    if (loaded) {
    xmlNode = this.firstChild;
    image = [];
    description = [];
    total = xmlNode.childNodes.length;
    for (i=0; i<total; i++) {
    image
    = xmlNode.childNodes.childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
    description
    = xmlNode.childNodes.childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue;
    firstImage();
    } else {
    content = "file not loaded!";
    xmlData = new XML();
    xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
    xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
    xmlData.load("images-webbanner.xml");
    listen = new Object();
    listen.onKeyDown = function() {
    if (Key.getCode() == Key.LEFT) {
    prevImage();
    } else if (Key.getCode() == Key.RIGHT) {
    nextImage();
    Key.addListener(listen);
    previous_btn.onRelease = function() {
    prevImage();
    next_btn.onRelease = function() {
    nextImage();
    p = 0;
    this.onEnterFrame = function() {
    filesize = picture.getBytesTotal();
    loaded = picture.getBytesLoaded();
    preloader._visible = true;
    if (loaded != filesize) {
    preloader.preload_bar._xscale = 100*loaded/filesize;
    } else {
    preloader._visible = false;
    if (picture._alpha<100) {
    picture._alpha += 10;
    function nextImage() {
    if (p<(total-1)) {
    p++;
    if (loaded == filesize) {
    picture._alpha = 0;
    picture.loadMovie(image[p], 1);
    desc_txt.text = description[p];
    picture_num();
    function prevImage() {
    if (p>0) {
    p--;
    picture._alpha = 0;
    picture.loadMovie(image[p], 1);
    desc_txt.text = description[p];
    picture_num();
    function firstImage() {
    if (loaded == filesize) {
    picture._alpha = 0;
    picture.loadMovie(image[0], 1);
    desc_txt.text = description[0];
    picture_num();
    function picture_num() {
    current_pos = p+1;
    pos_txt.text = current_pos+" / "+total;
    }

    A very simple solution is to make a second image that contains the picture superimposed on the map. You would need to have 4 images total for this (all images are the same size):
    1. The map with no photos
    2 - 4. The map with a single image over the desired region (i.e., 3 additional images).
    In your hotspots, you swap the entire map with the desired region map.

  • I want to take an image that's from my files, no cropped and be able to set up action(s) where I can drop that image behind an 8x10 frame overlay, then the same with a 5x7 frame overlay, then the same image behind a memory mate overlay that's an 8x10 size

    So is there a way to do this using the images right from the camera, where I don't have to crop three different sized images and drag them into the overlays?  I can set up an action for each, but cropping the same image 3x is a pain in the ***..!

    There are.  I did not write you need to learn scripting and write your own scripts.  As I wrote most Photoshop will never write a script.  However I would write every Photoshop user will at times use a Photoshop script to do some automated process for them.
    I wrote the it would be very hard to do what you want to do would a straight Photoshop action.  Actions on their own can not use logic.  An action would need to to it by brute force.
    However in Photoshop CC Adobe added conditional action support.  With this support it is now possible to create a group of actions to process some conditions.  Like you can separate Landscape from portraits have an Action for processing  landscape images and an other for processing portrait images.
    Size is still hard to deal with for you can have landscape's the are extremely wide to landscapes that are square and portraits the are extremely narrow to those that are almost square.
    Image the extreme aspect ratio will not fill a 8:10 or 5:7  area it resized to 10 and 7 and creating crops the have 8"10 and 5:7 will have images compositions where most of your image content has been discarded.
    Camera images do not have extreme aspect ratio the usually have  3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratios there are exceptions.  When you have print made the are 5x7 and 8x10 by printers  the prints you receive from the printers are center crops from your image files.
    It is very easy to make center crops if aree images have the same aspect ratio and orientation to begin with.  Now with CC you can have seperate actions to the two orientations.
    A general solution would need handle arbitrary aspect ratios the resulting center crop may well not have a satisfactory image composition for source image with extreme aspect ratios.
    Photoshop ship with several scripts users use all the time to process their image.  You may have used some yourself. Do any of these sound familiar to you. Conditional Mode Change, ContactSheetII, Delete All Empty Layers, Export Layers To Files, ExportColorLookupTables,  Fit Image, Flatten All Layer Effects, Flatten All Masks, generate, Image Processor, Layer Comps To Files, Layer Comps To PDF, Lens Correct, Load DICOM, Load Files into Stack, Merge To HDR, Photomerge, Script Events Manager and Statistics.
    My action package as I wrote contains more the a dozen script I wrote to be used in actions to add logic into the actions.
    It would also be extremely easy to create a Photo Collage Template PSD that contains a background layer that has your two frames the 8x10 and 5x7 and also have two alpha channels to map the locations of the images.  That can be batch populated with my script  BatchPicturePackage.
    Photo Collage Toolkit
    Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this A video showing a 5 image collage PSD template  being populates with images:
    The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
    Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
    Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
    Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
    Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
    There are twelve scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
    TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
    CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
    LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
    InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
    ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
    ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
    PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
    BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
    BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
    BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
    PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.
    PCTpreferences.jsx - Edit This File to Customize Collage Populating scripts default setting and add your own Layer styles.

  • How come every time I bring in a new image into Adobe Ideas as a background it's a different size?

    I created a multilayered stencil in Photoshop and each layer was exported as a TIFF.  Then I uploaded those TIFFs to Adobe Creative Cloud.  My idea was to trace each of the TIFFs using Adobe Ideas, which seems to work except, every time I bring in new TIFF as the background photo to trace, it's a different size.'
    How come every time I bring in a new image into Adobe Ideas as a background it's a different size?

    When importing images through the Photo layer in the layers panel, the image that comes in has a size that is dependent on the current zoom level of the document. This may explain why you are seeing different sizes. You can select the hand tool and double-tap on your sketch to return the zoom level to 100%. If you do this before importing your photo, then your photos should all be imported at the same size.
    Hope that helps,

  • How can I match the line thicknesses in different sizes of the same font?

    I'm working on a graphic that includes a handwriting font, and I'd like some text to be larger than others. The obvious issue is that when I make the font larger, the lines also get thicker. Has anyone found a good solution for this problem, other than limiting the design options to large font families with lots of weights? I do employee communications design work for a call center, so purchasing a big font set for internal communications isn't an option.
    I've tried to "hide" some of the larger text's thickness by adding a white stroke to it, or by hiding the font edges with a mask, and I've also tried artificially "bolding" or adding a stroke to the smaller text. They all result in noticably distorted text, particularly around corners, and the results are particularly horrible when using something with texture, like a chalkboard font. I haven't had any better luck in Illustrator, either.
    I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who wants to simulate the look of one person writing in different sizes with the same writing utensil. Beyond writing it myself (my handwriting is ugly), can you think of any solutions I haven't tried?
    Thanks in advance!
    Paula

    Thanks, I'll try the Min/Max and see if that works any better. The final output in this case is pixel based, for use in PowerPoint and in email headers. I often do my text work in Illustrator, but in this case I was trying to simulate writing on a chalkboard, so I started in Photoshop so I could see how it looked against the background as I worked. I actually face this challenge fairly frequently, though.
    The team I design for is virtual, with over 700 people spread across the US and up into Canada. For that reason, I like to use the "hand drawn" look on occasion to bring some warmth and personal touch to the communications, to contrast with all the super-polished "high gloss" graphics they look at all day in their work tools. It's a real challenge to find text and artwork that matches well once scaled to fit my documents, especially since most of the vector-based artwork I find online has already been converted to outlines, so it doesn't retain the same stroke thickness when the images are scaled.
    If anyone out there knows of an illustrator who doesn't convert their sketch-style graphics or fonts/typography to outlines before putting it up for use, either on Shutterstock or on any free site (since those are the ones I can use) I'd love to hear about it!

  • How can I use the print module to print different size images on one large "canvas"?

    How can I use the print module to print different size images on one large "canvas"? An example would be in Photoshop, go to file>new, and create the size paper I want, and move images of different sizes onto it.
    I was thinking the print module would do this automatically for me.

    You can't, at present. It's been a requested feature, so we'll see if it shows up in a future version, but it's not there at present.

  • How can I make different catalogs from the same image

    How can I make different catalogs from the same image where that image has been changed in some way between the catalogs. For instance if I wanted to have a catalogs for cropped images and have 3 catalogs one for 4x6 , 5x7 and 8x10 cropping. When I tried this , if I changed a file in one catalog that same image in the other would change also.

    Do not confuse the creation of the crops and the display in collections per crop ratio.
    Of course one virtual copy (VC) per crop ratio is needed. If the same image should be cropped in all 3 mentioned ratios there would be 3 VCs.
    The OP asked how to have/see a set of same-crop-ratios.
    After having created the virtual copies for whatever crop ratio he wants, the way to display this result in the fashion asked for is via smart collections, provided they can be found. Without a plugin the naming of the VC with the crop ratio applied is a straight way to achieve that.
    IF the wish is to get new crops automatically added. (See my answers 2+3)
    IF the wish is to creat static collections per crop ratio for a certain set of images, I'd go as follows:
    1. Select all images you want to have cropped in that way,.
    2. With this selection click on the + to add another collection and fill the dialog box like this:
    Then navigate into this newly created selection and perform the 4x6 crop - according to taste individually or by synchronizing the first crop.
