Same problem again, again.

Same details as before, I've done quite a few of these threads now. Constant disconnections, wildly fluctuating speeds, line not stable enough for any kind of speed test. Getting really sick of this now, taking days off for engineer visits only to be told that there's no problem with the line. Service was perfect for exactly one year then went to turd immediately as my contract finished. Nothing in my set up has changed since the first installation so I can't see what else it could be. I'm not going to keep waiting and playing games with this; if it's not resolved by next monday I'm taking my business elsewhere - you know where. This thread is only really here for the mods, who I am contacting now.

your attenuation is now at 54 whereas your stats in December it was 45/47 which suggests there is resistence on your line probably a bad joint.  This would cause disconnections and contacting the mods should get you some help

Since upgrading to Firefox 5 I have the same problem again, but I already have the new version of HP Simple Pass.     This looks to be the same problem I had not so long ago. Regular disconnections for a few days followed by a drop in IP profile and slow, slow speeds. Last time it took two engineer visits, replacing all various boxes along the line, a couple of trips to the exchange and a few weeks to solve. Nothing has changed since the problem was resolved last time so I don't know what could be causing this. Anyway, here's my details....

    Speed went back to normal but disconnections are more regular than ever. Did the line test but no noise and my noise margin has been ok since the speed went back to normal. Anyway...

  • I have the same problem again, firefox not displaying yahoo main page properly

    I had this same problem about two months ago and someone on here told me what to do. Unfortunately I did not write it down so I don't remember. I've tried, tools-options - advance - general - unchecked use hardware acceleration when available...it did not work. Yahoo main page looks perfect on IE, on Firefox it's a mess. Someone please help.

    This is what you can do and it will work. I found the info I had used the last time I had the same problem.
    "Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:"
    Click the menu button New Fx Menu , choose History, and then Clear Recent History....
    Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
    Now click the Clear now button.

    My Problem
    Last time I got iPhoto to somehow magically open and recognize my camera when I reinstalled the Kodak EasyShare software. I tried doing that again, but to no avail. My computer just refuses to recognize my camera!
    Taking the most recent advice given to me on my last post, I even created a new Admin account, but the other account didn't recognize my camera either.
    I've tried looking at various posts on here, and I've Googled the problem to the point of exasperation.
    Any comments or advice would be highly appreciated!

    Hi,
    I have a similar quirky problem... that perhaps one of you may be able to help with.
    I can connect both mine and my wife's Nokia N73 Phones to my iBookG4 using the "Mass Storage" (ie. diskmode, 120MB miniSD) to connect via USB cable. In both instances, when connected, the diskimage appears in Finder and iPhoto automatically opens and asks whether I want to import. All is well and good.
    However, the same does not happen when I try exactly the same process on my wife's Macbook.
    To ensure that the problem is not caused by incorrect settings in my wife's Macbook's iPhoto (or image capture program), I checked iPhoto preferences, image capture settings. All seemed okay.
    To eliminate the possibility that it was simply a USB problem on my wife's MacBook, I connected my Canon 350D to see whether it would be recognized by iPhoto and Finder - it was (trying both USB ports).
    The strange thing is that the phone is recognized in Finder as a mass storage device, and I can manipulate files etc as you would expect. However, the phone is not recognized in iPhoto (this being the case for both N73 phones) despite the fact that they are both recognized in my iBookG4 by Finder and iPhoto.
    Since the phones are still recognized by Finder, this does mean that I can import the photos into iPhoto via the "drag and drop" of files, or using the "import" option from the File-Menu. However, my wife's not so crash hot at doing that stuff and we love Mac because of their ease of use.
    Both computers use iPhoto 6.06 (322), and both run OSX 10.4.9. So, the phones are recognized on one computer and only semi-recognized on the other computer. Any theories or suggestions as how I may resolve this issue?

    MY first iPhone5 going dim, brand new out of the box second day after release. Apple did factory restore for me and see if that helped me. Still
    happening so they set me up with appointment for new iphone5 at apple outlet. Went home and week later started dimming on its own again, apple has a problem that they need to address and fix in their system correctly

    What is the exact wording of the error message? It may be that there is a problem with your computer and is causing the problem, not a problem with the iPod.

  • I've just setup my new iPad Air. With new Apple ID ect everything working fine, but I can't redeem my iTunes voucher it says wrong password/ user name but they are not wrong. I've reset password same problem anyone help?

  • IMac 2008 dying again for 3rd time in 2.5 years - same problem! what to do!

    Hi all
    I've just made another appointment to take my iMac to an apple store for the 3rd time in it's short life.
    I brought this iMac Oct 2008 and within a year the hard drive failed completely (spent a few months fighting with crashes/slowness/freezing etc until complete blue screen) - took it into the apple store and they replaced the drive... within a year (and several months of fighting again) it failed again... they replaced the drive again... for the last few months I have been fighting with the slowness/freezing and crashes more and more and now it's practically unusable and the blue screen comes up after it freezes longer than it's usual time)
    it's taken me over 45 mins just to make the appointment and post on here from the last reboot!
    What I want to know is... is this normal? will they just replace the drive again and this scenario keeps playing out on a yearly basis? (actually it's less than a year each time this happens) The last time the iMac was in they had it for 2 weeks yet didn't fix the screen (they replaced the glass the first time in yet nothing was wrong with it... now I have these giant whitish smears top and bottom... and gray bits) and I have a deadline coming up.
    I'm a mature student due to start my final project for a BA (I'm in line for a first so I don't want to ruin things now) (my project is stop motion which takes a long time to do... not a two week job!) and the deadline is just five weeks away... but the iMac just can't be used for long now so I have no choice but to send it in ASAP!
    anyone have any suggestions... the people in apple just say it's the hard drive but how can the hard drives be failing all the time... it has to be something else effecting them.
    when I run the repair or disc analysis it says it's fine which it did the other times... the guy in apple had to do a different test with some gadget to show the problem (I'm not that computer literate ;-D)
    gargh... I have bald patches over this thing!
    this can't be normal... I really can't afford to buy another computer.. I would like to finish my BA as well

    I rang apple and they said it was likely to happen again as this was the 3rd time so they will be replacing the iMac - yay!! the thought of arranging a cab (I dont' drive and I'm not carrying it on the tube or bus!) and then a week or two later back again... then the same issue again and again was just depressing.
    hopefully I won't be without a computer for too long - they have to pick up my old iMac and then arrange for the new one to be sent so might take a week at least.
    New one will be a 27" 1TB HD, 4gb ram... only has one 800 firewire port but I think I can join my two firewire drives together so shouldn't be an issue... but I'll just be glad to not fight with my computer.. took 5 hours for a simple powerpoint presentation - I'm really not that slow!!
    oh... and wireless keyboard and magic mouse - I spilt whisky on my keyboard and it's not been the same since.. so all new shiny computer on the way soon.. yay!
    I'm very relieved... I would have taken the same specs but I guess they don't do that but the extra specs will be very nice.

    Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
    Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • Well here we go again another month same problem

    Im really annoyed about this now it is every month since march the same problem.
    Had the issue at begin of sept got engineer to come out 16th sept to fix the issue he tested everything in the house and there was no problems. He went to the exchange and reset stuff there telling me to give it to the 3rd October to settle down.  So it settled at max achievable speed 2000kbps and my ip profile was 2000 kbps but my ip profile went down to 1750 on the 28th of sept.
    Well today yip you guessed it my max speed is 500kbps and my ip profile is now 500kbps. 
    Im so fed up now as i will again have to wait for them to sort it out and then it will be ok for a couple of weeks with the max speed and ip profile going down till im back at 500kbps on each.
    There has got to be something causing this, the quiet line test is clear, my hub is wired direct to the wall socket that has an inbuilt filter in it.

    This is almost always a symptom of a phone that was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it.

    It is a known issue and un-conventional remedy.
    It is Hardware failure. I would get the iPhone changed for a good one.
