Same report on two instances but PDF output in different fonts

I would appreciate that Report developer with no Apps experience also read this problem.
We have 2 running APPS11i environments.
One production, up and running at the customer.
One development , up and running at our site, develop department.
We developed some reports (rdf's) in Reports 6i Builder.
These reports are known in Oracle Applications by placing the reports in the <OUR_TOP>\11.5.0\reports\US directory
and of course as concurrent programs in Apps11i.
The Requests are submitted by using FND_REQUEST package in our custom application, this works ok.
On BOTH environments the reports are printed with expected font (=Arial) and layout. The concurrent programs have output information set: format (postscript), style and printer.
Secondly we defined another set of concurrent programs, almost the same as the above con.programs mentioned.
Except with this difference that the output information set is format (PDF) and printer is empty (print flag is off).
ONLY on our development site adobe acrobat reader is launched with the expected fonts (arial). SO DEVELOPMENT IS OKAY for us.
On our production site acrobat reader is launched, but the used font is not Arial, instead a font Devicefont10cpi is used.
But these Arial fonts are in the fonts direcory (by looking in control panel | fonts).
When we run the reports stand-alone (reports builder or rwrun60.exe in a DOS box) on the production environment the pdf outputs are created okay with the correct font.
What could we have been forgotten when deploying the reports on production?
In other words what could be responsible for running reports in APPS11i in ignoring the builder defined font.
Thanks in advance auke quist

hi, the app is not "shared", it works as if you bought the app twice with different accounts, only you paid it once. they should have 2 different villages since they're on 2 different devices.

  • Adding Hyperlinks in Report shuould take action in PDF Output

    Hi All,
I had a requirement with reports
    Explanation of the requirement.
    I had a report aaa.rdf which gives a (one)employee monthly details.
which need to be output in PDF.
    now the requuirement is
I had added labels "next-month" and "previous-month" labels at either side of report title.
I need the code to kept in these labels such that when this report is executed and taken into PDF file, when user
user clicks on the "next-month" or "previous-month" in that PDF file, the action to take is it should re-ran the same report(aaa.rdf) and should display the output in PDF in the same window but now the output should show the
coressponding next-month or previous-month results respectively of that employee.
please let me know if this make sense.
please guide for the above requirement.
this is very very urgent your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
it is not too late ....
It's possible to add such Hyperlinks to the pdf-Output of a report.
With use of the built-in rw.set_hyperlink('hyperlink') in a format trigge you can realize that. "hyperlink" is for example then something like:
    '/reports/rwservlet?destype=cache&desformat=pdf&report=drilldetail.jsp&userid=scott/tiger@josi&p_deptno='||:deptno
In your case it's a call to the same report you run before and you had to set your month-parameter in the call depending your current month (next or previous).
With srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('string') it's possible to add additional attributes like for example
         srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('target=_new')
which opens a new browser window.
This works for HTML & PDF.

Your probably going to have to edit the xslt to get the result either by stripping out the comma or by setting that column to explicitly align the way you want it.

  • Ditafm-output.ini and PDF output for different situations

I'm using a DITA 1.2 structured app and templates that I've set up. I'm generally happy with the output that I'm getting now, but I've also come to realize that I have two different situations for PDF output--in situation one, I need to set up for printed books, i.e., facing pages, keeping chapters starting on right-hand pages and so on. Situation two is for electronically-distributed PDFs that are NOT books--files that customers might print themselves, probably not double-sided, so I don't need facing pages with the associated blank pages in the file, and so on.
I'm using flags in the ditafm-output.ini file to control the pagination for the printed book in my output. Both situations currently use the same output templates, though I may create a single-sided template for situation two. That's easy enough.
My question, then, is this: It seems to me that I'll need two different ditafm-output.ini files for the two situations. Is there an easy way to switch between them? Output seems separate from the structured application, and I don't need or want two separate apps.
The best I can think of at the moment is to create a second ditafm-output.ini file with the settings I want for situation two, name it ditafm-output_foo.ini and change it to the "real" name when I need it. This, of course, introduces a potential overwrite disaster. Naturally, I'll keep backups.
    Unless there's a better way??

That's the only way I can think of using "default" Frame to support multiple output types. To make it less error-prone you might set up batch files that do the copying .. just run the right batch file before you build each type of book.
OR .. you could use DITA-FMx which lets you define an INI file for each book-build (and provides many more features).

  • Calling report from form. Need PDF output

I am calling a report from a form using RUN_PRODUCT. I need to display the form in PDF format. When the user clicks the button in the form to run the report, acrobat reader should open up and the report displayed there. Please help.
    Thanks

Thanks for the response. The first part worked. I am able to get the output in PDF format. In the 2nd part where I want to open acrobat and display the output, I am having some trouble with the code. When I compile, it says
win_api_environment.read_registry must be declared. Is there some package I need to attach?
Also, in the After reports trigger, how do I pass vFile (I am assuming this is the PDF file name)?
    Thanks
The first thing you'll want to do is pass parameters to the report IE DESTYPE, DESNAME and DESFORMAT where these could be FILE, 'c:\temp\report' and PDF.
Then, you can try this piece of code I wrote (with some help from other people at Metalink and here) sometime back. Now, I call it from forms, but in your case, you'd have to run it in the after report trigger. Since with RUN_PRODUCT you don't know when the report is finished, if you did it from the form, it wouldn't work correctly.

  • Google Chrome PDF viewer displays different fonts

When I design a document in either Indesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop I use many custom fonts. I export my PDF's as optimized as possible for web viewing from the layout program itself.
I don't stop there. I open my exported PDF in Acrobat and optimize the file further using the Optimize PDF tool. I flatten everything out, but I keep my fonts embedded. When I drag and drop the file in Google Chrome or Firefox the fonts change. I get some cheap looking serif font instead of my slab serif. I've tried unembedding the font as well and I get the same result.
    What gives?
I just want to make sure this isn't something I'm doing wrong. What's weird is it happens in Firefox/Chrome, but it doesn't happen in Safari.
    Firefox/Chrome PDF viewer:
    Safari PDF viewer:

    Interesting.
However, as what each of these browsers does to render a PDF is dictated by the respective coding discussions of that would have to take place each browsers "developer space".
Nothing there is controlled by Adobe eh.
    Be well...

  • WS-SDK Scheduling two instances of the same report with different params

I'm using the web services SDK for Business Objects XI 3.1 SP 2 to schedule reports. I've got it so that I can successful schedule a report with prompts, setting the value for the prompt and running the report.
However, I'm now trying to schedule two instances of the same report using a single call to BIPlatform.Schedule. It creates the correct number of new instances, the last of which is completely correct. The first one (and in fact if I do more than two all the rest except the last) lose the parameter value from the prompt and the schedule information and the type. So for example if I schedule two instances, both PDF, both for 8am tomorrow with parameters of 1 and 2, I get:
A Webi instance, scheduled to run immediately with no parameters specified and
A PDF instance, scheduled for 8am tomorrow with parameter 2
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
    Cheers,
    Jack

Can you possibly post your code here that sets params and schedules? Also as you schedule 2 instances on a single report in a sinlgle biplatform.schedule call(): as you query for InfoObject what you actually query for a single report isn't it, or do you schedule a report template and reschdule it previous instance?

  • Oracle Report, How to Display Polish Characters in a PDF Output

    Environment :
Oracle Application Server version 10.1.2.0.2 on Red Hat 4 Enterprise (Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3 , 32 bit) Oracle Database Version 10.2.0.3.0 Our character set of database is UTF8
I have trouble to display polish characters in Reports Output. We develop on Windows XP machines. I can see the Polish Caharacters in the Reports Builder using several fonts (arial, arial unicode, Times new roman, verdana...) during design time or when running with the paper layout. But when the report deployed to application server running on the linux, the polish characters are replaced by symbols.
Even under Windows, when I select 'generate to a PDF' file option, the characters are not displayed correctly (When I open the generated PDF file with Acrobat reader and go to Document Properties / Fonts, I see the Fonts are always replaced with Adobe Sans MM)
Using the Forms Applications running on the same application server we have no trouble dealing/displaying with the characters (Ąą ĆćĘę Ł ł ŃńÓóŚ ś Ź ź Ż ż ß Đ đ € )
NLS_LANG setting is AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 on the Linux Box and AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1250 is on the Development machines. (have tried a number of different NLS_LANG settings on the development box as well with no luck).
    Any direction would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You have several different approaches to fix this problem. First of all, you would be able to generate the PDF output with Font Subsetting setup and be able to see the Polish characters correctly when running the output with destype=cache&desformat=pdf. The following metalink documents would guide you with this setup :
Note.207711.1 "How to Use Font Subsetting in Reports 9i and 10g for PDF Output"
As at design time you use many different Windows specific fonts, I also advice you to check the following document :
Note.356221.1 "A Practical Methodology on Porting Reports from Windows to Unix with Different Fonts"
Once the PDF output is generated properly with correct characters, then if you need to use "destype=printer" for direct print, rather than "destype=cache" to display the output in browser, then you can use the "PDFPrint" pluggable destination, which is located in :

  • Graph Chart not displated in XML PDF output

    Hi,
Created an XML report with Pie chart and working fine in one instance (DEV). Migrated the same report to another instance(UAT instance) and when I run the report, it generates the XML report in PDF format but not displying the Pie Chart.
DBA Team has set up the Xserver but still not able to see the pie chart in PDF output.
Any ideas what is wrong with the report please. It's working fine in DEV instance and generating Pie Chart as expected.
    Thanks,

  • Fact table with 2 time keys, measures showing together in the same report

    Hello,
I am using OBI EE and I have the following scenario: a fact table hold information about enquiries. An enquiry may or may not generate an appointment. So in my fact table I have two date columns: enquiry date and appointment booked date (not the date of the appointment itself, but when it was actually booked).
This raises a couple of questions. First question is: I can only have one logical FK to the Times table, how to create two LFKs for those 2 dates? Should I create a logical copy of the Times table in the BMM, along with another time dimension?
Second question is how to display both pieces of data in the same report. For instance, in a summary report per month I want to see the number of enquiries made and appointments booked in each month. Most likely they will be different numbers and refer to different rows in the database. What is the best way to model this in the BMM?
For instance, in October there were 10 enquiries, 8 of them were converted into appointments along with 3 enquires made in September. So, the report should show for October: number of enquires: 10, number of appointments: 11 (8 from October + 3 from September)
Sorry if this is a basic question but I couldn't find around any examples of this scenario.
    Thanks,
    Luis

    Genius, that works perfectly, thanks!
Just one issue that I noticed... I have other dimensions on that fact table, one of them is "channel". Channel is linked to a column in the original fact table, as is Number of Enquiries.
If I include Channel in a report that shows Number of Enquiries and Number of Appointments, the Number of Appointments column only shows zeros, while the Number of Enquiries column still shows the correct numbers:
    Month    Channel   Enquiries   Appointments
    Jan 09   Email      100           0
             Phone      120           0
    Feb 09   Email       87           0
...Then I figured out that I needed to add a PFK for all dimensions to the aliased fact table, not only for the times dimension.
    Thanks again
    Luis

  • PDF output does not refresh data in BI Publisher, XML and HTML do refresh

I just upgraded to BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0 and I noticed that the PDF format of the reports does not reflect recent changes in data, while XML data and HTML output do reflect changes in data immediately.
I'm using BI Publisher to print APEX applications reports. When I change some data in APEX forms, I click again in the Print button and the data remains unchanged. I made some testing inside Oracle BI Publisher, and noticed that XML data and HTML output do reflect changes, but PDF output remains with the old data for some unknown amount of time. I cannot identify a method to force the PDF to refresh, just un-log and log in again several times until the data appears updated. This is serious because when users change data and print again, they expect the changes to be reflected in the new printable report, and may not notice that the data is the old version.
    OS is Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Any help on this will be very welcome.

Open the report in Edit Mode Click on the reports and in the properties section Uncheck the
Enable Document Cache Property and your issue should be resolved.

    Hai Experts................
I have a problem that with session............
when we logged in one site with our username and password, and
then i try to log in same site with other username and password in another browser
then how to know is there any browser is open with any other username and password in the same site.
I want to give this checking in the client side.....

You could use cookies, but this will only allow you to detect multiple uses of the same browser like two instances of IE. This won't work if you are using IE and you open another different browser such as Firefox.
I think you are out of luck :)

  • How to start two instances of InDesign server independently?

    Hello,
we have a multi instance InDesign server installation.
And we are able to start two instances of InDesign server on different ports.
But now we would like to use different plugins for different instances.
Is it possible somehow? For example install InDesign server two times in different folders or something like that?
    Thank you in advance.

InDesign plugin loading can be controlled via a file "PluginConfig.txt", refer to search for details.
InDesign Server has separate configuration folders per instance/configuration.
*If* the search path for the PluginConfig.txt falls into this folder, that would be the easiest approach.
I don't have a server installation with me to try it out.
