Same screen scratches problem in Australia?

Well after seeing the ipod nano being advertised in local stores, I wanted it immediately. It appealed to me in every way, small, black, touch wheel.
But however with the 'fragile screen' being mentioned in the newspaper, and seeing American news reports everywhere when i searched 'ipod nano' on google i got rather concerned.
So I have some questions which i will appreciate your help with:
1. Do all ipod nano's in Australia have the same fragile problem?
2. Have there been any changes since the release 1 month ago? What is this 'x' generation ive been hearing about?
I hope the problem gets resolved for all you unfortunate people who were so eager to get this little gem. I find the problem disgusting, and Apple's response even more.

1. I live in Australia, and I've had my Nano for 5 days now. I haven't had any scratches on the front, because i've kept the sticker that came on the front, until I decide on a cover. On the back, i'm not sure if there is alot of light scratches or alot of smudges. I think theres lots of options to fix these problems. If it's the screen you mean, as in fragile. It's only a very small minority who have experienced the problem of it cracking. If it does, you get just get a replacement or refund.
2. I think this x generation, you're might be talking about is the new and older batches. It's been said that when Apple originally had a meeting for the video iPod, that they also discusses the Nano, and have made a new batch that has a less scratchable surface. I dont know if it's shipped yet, or even in Australia. I dont know, you might have to wait a month or a few, to get the new batch. Maybe ring Apple.
All I suggest is, if you really want to get a Nano, just make sure you've got a cover for it first.

Well with Christmas coming 2 months away, and with MP3 players being a hot gadget on every teenagers wish, I really do hope Apple improves the durability of the Nano material.

MacBook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. Tried to start in safe mode but get the same screen. The only thing different was that I loaded the zedge sync app yesterday. Now getting this problem.

The only thing different is that I added the zedge update app to do a sync for adding ringtones to my apple cell phone. How can I get a good boot. I am fairly new to apple computer.

Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405 and then try a normal boot.
Run the Startup Manager to select Startup disk: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1310
If those did not work your disk may be sick or dying. The top priority at this point is to make a backup copy of your data.
Check the health of the disk. Boot in Recovery Mode (Boot, Command-R). Run Disk Utility. Click on the upper left disk icon. Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”? If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced. Even if it does not show “Verified” you can still attempt a backup.
Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD” and Verify Disk. If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk. If it shows errors in red then you have found a problem to address once the system is backed up. Do not attempt software repairs until you have secured the data.
If the disk will not show up at all in Disk Utility as your ran the tests above then it may be dead or it may have a bad internal SATA cable. A trip to an Apple store for confirmation would be in order.
If you have an external disk drive you can use as a backup drive then do so. If not Google “Hitachi USB 3.0 external hard drive 1TB” to purchase one or go to a brick-and-mortar store (including an Apple store) to pickup one. Any 1 TB external drive will do.
Assuming it is still breathing you can try to recover the data without booting from the sick disk.
Reformat the external disk. (This will erase all data on the external disk.)
Boot in Recovery Mode. Start Disk Utility. Plug in the new disk. Select it’s disk Icon (the second one down, left justified). Select the Partition tab.
Partition Layout > Single Partition
Name: Emergency Recovery 1 (or whatever name you wish to use)
Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
Options… > GUID Partition Table > OK
Apply
Select the Restore tab.
Drag the old system volume (Macintosh HD) to Source.
Drag the new disk volume (Emergency Recovery 1) to Destination.
Click on Restore.
It may take a long time for the backup.
If that will not complete post back for other emergency data recovery methods, including those from a brody.
If the backup succeeds, use the First Aid tab in Disk Utility to select the old volume (Macintosh HD) and Repair Disk. If it does not finish with a green OK message try to repair it once or twice more. If it repairs with a green OK message, will it boot normally? If not, boot from the Recovery Partition and reinstall OS X.
If it is still not healthy, post back for further instructions.

8Gb Touch 2nd gen problem. Only showing connect to iTunes screen and not letting me past that as I have a password - Already reset and it just loops back to the same screen with the same problem

you can connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode:
Hold down the Home button and the Power button simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off.
Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.
After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device
and restore it to default settings, in order to remove your password (or just remove your password directly from the iPod touch, in order to sync with iTunes)

MacBook Pro screen scratches?

I'm about to take the plunge and pick-up a MBP this week. First, I hope this is a good idea seeing as how many complaints I read. Anyway, my concern is this; I had a PB 667 way back and I remember that over time the screen got scratched by the keyboard. It was a problem many owners had. What I'd like to know is (and it may be too early for most users) does anyone notice this same thing happening? Should I invest in a screen protector?
Oh, and if you're a positive experience with your MBP, you could mention that too seeing as those posts help calm pre-purchase anxieties.

Yes. I have serious screen scratches on my MBP from the base of the keyboard and the top of the keyboard. I travel ALOT and keep my MBP secure in a Brenthaven backpack. Unfortunately, I did not keep the keyboard protector...inconvinent and painfully cumbersome...and now I suffer from screen scratches. But, the scratches aren't so severe that I can't successfully use the computer. I've since found a protector and deal with the inconvience.
Otherwise, I LOVE my MacBook. It was an expensive pain to upgrade software for the Intel, and I had serious anxiety as I traded in my G5 tower. However, I'm now traveling the world as a graphics/video designer, and for me, MacBook is the only option available.
Evaluate why you want to take the expensive plunge and then do it. No regrets.

Nokia N97 Screen Scratches!!

Hey guys...so here we go!! I hv a N97 black for about 2 weeks nw...me and my friends who have this device here same the face problem!! the screen seems to hv some scratches now afta using the Stylus!!! The screen protector is on the screen too...so im nt sure if the scratches are on the screen or jst on the protector
And the scratches seem to visible in day light or when u tilt and concectrate really hard on the screen...
Wanting to know if any others out there face the same problem and wanting to know whether the scratches are just on the protector or on the actual screen itself.....

the same thing happened to me, I took of the Nokia screen protector and two days later I had the scratches on the phone. I never used the stylus, I guess it was something in my pocket. I now bought a screen protector and a cell phone pouch but still the scratches bug me so much :-( When the screen is black or dark, you can see the scratches, my bad! I guess we have to live with the scratches, you can't do nothing with touch screens. If I find something out, I will let you know. You too please...

How do you run to Drives on the same screen. I installed a ssd and a hhd to my mac but i can only view the content of the drive only if i boot of that drive. Im try to have my ssd for fast boots and hhd for my music,movies etc. Please help.

I installed a samsung 840 pro SSD to my primary slot and relocated my 1.5 TB HDD to a data double where my optical drive was. I transfered my apps and Mac OS X to my SSD for fast boots and all my itunes movies, music, Iphoto etc to my HDD. I rebooted off my SSD then seen all the data on my HHD itunes movies, music, iphotos etc i cannot view on my SSD. So my question is how do you view all the content on both the ssd and hdd on the same screen with having to boot off one or the other?

No, what I'm saying is that once you boot into OSX, you should be able to see both drives listed. If you don't then either OSX is hiding the other drive because it sees it as a boot drive and is trying to protect the contents from novice users or there's another problem. If it's the first thing (i.e. it's a protection thing), then your only option would be to boot into the old drive, copy off all your personal data to an external backup drive, then reboot into the SSD and go into Disk Utilities and wipe/reformat the second drive so that you can see it as a regular secondary drive. Then when you see it as that, you can copy your data back to it.
Be carefull poking around in Disk Utility as you can easily lose your data. It's possible the Mac just isn't mounting that second drive because it sees it as another boot drive. Whatever you do, don't accidentally erase it without getting a copy of your data off of it because you obviously don't have that on your SSD now.

No, I haven't and most probably I will not, at least in the foreseeable future. I have enough problems with my own account, and I waste too much time as it is on re-logging in, and on waiting for pages to load and messages to be posted, to indulge in such an investigation. Even if the logic behind two accounts that on screen seem to be associated with exactly the same screen name turns out to be exceedingly simple.

Two adf components sharing same VO with different params on same screen

Hello everybody,
My current problem is that I need to create a screen with multiple graphs sharing the same VO but with different parameters for each one.
Lets suppose that I want to use EmployeesVO to show 2 graphs on the same jspx page.
One graph will show all employee salaries for department "Marketing" and another will show all employee salaries for department "IT".
Remember that I want both on the same screen.
The read-only VO will look like this:
SELECT First_Name
, Salary
FROM employees
WHERE department_id = :p_dept
To do this I did the following:
For each graph I created one Iterator.
For each Iterator I created one ExecuteWithParams. (one receiving "Marketing Depto" and anther receiving "IT Depto")
For each ExecuteWithParams I created one InvokeAction .
While running the application all graphs show the same information. All of them show only one department (the last InvokeAction in the Executables List).
The question is: How to keep each graph with their own parameter on the same screen?
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1 on Windows 7 x64 SP1.

Why dont you add 2 instances of the same Vo in the AM. For each instance set the different VC.

My iphone will not set up as a new iphone and it constantly goes back to the same screen when hit set up as new iphone how to fix this?

I just updated to 6.1.3 not knowing that i would ahve to completley reset my iphone because i did this while jailbroken, wanted to get rid of it anway but not when i try to set up my idevice as a new iphone via itunes it doesnt do anything i click on it and it takes me to my music and does nothing i click on the iphone thing and it takes me back o the same screen asking do i want restore or set up as new ihpone i have tried both and they do the same thing which is nothing. i even tried to reset it again by putting it in dfu mode nothing is working.... If anyone could please help ive had this iphone for awhile now its a 4s got it in feburary ive never had any problems like this Any solutions please.......

I run my MacBook Pro on MacOSX and on Windows XP using BootCamp.
The problem is that I cannot run both operating systems, on the same screen, at the same time . I need to shut one to be able to open the other one.
Does one knows a software to install to work on Mac and PC, on the same screen, at the same time?

Nokia Lumia 1520 - Screen Brightness Problem

I have two Nokia Lumia 1520.
Both of them have the same problem. I will explain the problem to you in detail and before that let me assure you I am a Windows Phone long time user , have been part of the development , developed several apps for the platform and I have used Lumia 800 , 720 , 920 , 925 and now 1520. So I am well aware of all the settings , sunlight readability , automatic brightness etc. This problem is not due to any of these , I can assure you
Now the problem ,
I set the automatic brightness option OFF
I move the brightness to HIGH
Then I lock the phone
When I unlock the phone , the brightness drops by 10% suddenly without any intervention
This problem happens sometime. Some days I see this problem , some days I don't and there are few days where I see this problem very heavily.
I purchased another 1520 and it has the same problem. I am very sure , from my experience that this is a firm ware issue. This is NOT a hardware problem , but a serious problem from your software end. It is prudent that Nokia recognizes this problem and finds a solution to this. Interestingly , I am not the only one who is facing this problem , the whole globe is facing the same problem and for such a pricey phone , this is a frustrating experience - very frustrating. The phone is rock solid and amazing except this irritating problem.
I have only few days within which I can request a exchange from the merchant. So if any Nokia official can confirm that a software fix is on the way , it would be super helpful

I have Nokia Lumia 1520 Black.
I have also been facing the same problem with screen brightness.
The problem occurs only when the Brightness is in Automatic mode.
--> When the Brightness is set to Automatic mode & take out from dark location to bright location the display turns out to weird grey color.
--> And then if the brightness is set to low, medium or high display comes to normal.
Is this issue related to the hardware or software.
If it is related to the Software will you be able to fix it ? or else How about the replacing with the new one ?

My ipod after trying to erase it, will not load after 3 days on the same screen

I was trying to erase all my data off my iPod 5th Gen, after I start the process it all starts well until the very last step (I think) will just not complete the job it's just stuck on the same screen it has been for the last 3 days ind the only thing i can do is hold the power and home button until it either reboots or it turns off when i stop the reboot short. The screen looks like when you updating an apple product and all there is, is the apple symbol and the loading bar. But the loading bar isn't filled at all. What should I do???

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Did you check if there are no objects on that index slide that have a fading transition? You should set the transition for every object to 'No transition'. The transition can be found in the Properties dialog, tab Options.
